James 'Jim' Miller

James "Jim" Miller, 84, of Evansville, Ind., passed away on Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, at Columbia Health Care. James retired as a journeyman electrician at Whirlpool Corp. after 36 years of service. He was a Navy veteran serving in World War II. He was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he was a deacon and elder. James enjoyed fishing and beekeeping and loved the outdoors.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dean (Phillips) Miller of Evansville; sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Tina Miller of Port Orchard, Wash., and Don and Terri Miller of Evansville; a daughter, Barb Miller of Dale, Ind.; two brothers, Allan Miller of Jacksonville, Fla., and Bill Miller of Memphis, Tenn.; grandchildren, Vicky Miller, Christina Miller, Jeremy Miller, Jamie Perkins and her husband Anthony, Andrea Wilhelm and Carson Miller; great-grandchildren, Caleb and Kourtney; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, with the Rev. Peck Axton officiating. Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Park cemetery, where the Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, 2005, at Browning Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Vista Care Hospice, 601 S.E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Evansville, IN 47713.

Mary Louise (Crisp) Howard

Mary Louise (Crisp) Howard, 84, of Whitesville died Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at her home. She was a member of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church. She was a homemaker and
enjoyed cooking, her yard work and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Howard, in 1999; and two sons, Johnnie Howard, in 1978, and Hugh Howard, in 1988.

Survivors include six daughters, Bobbie Bickett and Alliece Haynes, both of Whitesville, Nancy Bickett of Hawesville, Bonnie Glenn of West Louisville, and Rachel Gray and Charlotte Payne, both of Lewisport; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a brother, Bernie Crisp of Whitesville; and a sister, Dora Thompson of Owensboro.

Services are at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, with prayers at 7 p.m., at Cecil Funeral Home. Visitation will begin after 8:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Phillip Wayne Johnson

SACRAMENTO - Phillip Wayne Johnson, 39, of Sacramento died Sunday, March 6, 2005, at his home. He was a truck driver and member of Island Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Naranda Hounton Johnson; a son, Travis Johnson; two daughters, Angela Johnson and Morgan Johnson; his mother, Shirley Johnson; two brothers, Cody Johnson and Rick Elms; and two sisters, Sandy Johnson and Courtney Johnson.

Services: 10 a.m. today at Tucker Memorial Chapel in Sacramento. Burial: Island Methodist cemetery.

Elsie Muriel Dockery

CENTRAL CITY - Elsie Muriel Dockery, 105, of 500 East Whitmer St., Central City, died at 1:25 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005, at Sparks Nursing Center in Central City. She was born May 16, 1899, in Shady Grove and was a homemaker and member of Cleaton Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Brack Dockery; four sons, Leman Dockery, Lenord Dockery, Lawrence Dockery and Leon Dockery; three daughters, Lois Jones, Lola Newman and Loretta Arndell; and two grandsons, Larry Dockery and Oshel Jones.

Survivors include two sons, Lendel "Dinkum" Dockery of Bracey, Va., and William "Bob" Dockery of Richmond, Va.; 19 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sib Walker of Evansville.

Services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with the Rev. Ernest Bean officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount cemetery in Central City. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Opal Harvey

ISLAND - Opal Harvey, 84, of 435 South First St., Island, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. Arvesta Opal Lamb was born March 15, 1920, in Island to the late Ed and Alice Lamb and was later married to Charles William Harvey. Opal was a homemaker, had earlier worked at the Island Dairy Freeze and was a member of the Island United Methodist Church. She also enjoyed fishing, gardening and any activity outdoors. Her husband, Charles W. "Granny" Harvey, died May 9, 1999.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Charles "Big Boy" and Gay Nell Harvey of Island; and a granddaughter and her husband, Dr. Dawn and John "Chuck" Grundy of Carrollton, Ga.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel with the Rev. John Galyen officiating. Burial will be in the Island Community cemetery. Friends may visit with the Harvey family from 3 to 7 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until time of services Monday at Musters in Livermore.

The Harvey family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Island Community cemetery Fund, c/o J.D. Hardison, P.O. Box 162, Island, KY 42350. Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at Musters in Livermore.

Tina Marie Dockery-Guffey

CLOVERPORT - Tina Marie Dockery-Guffey, 23, of Creek Street in Cloverport died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, at her home. She was born in Breckinridge County on Dec. 16, 1981.

Survivors include her husband, Tony Guffey; her father, Dwayne Dockery of Clarksville, Ind.; her mother, Laverne Guffey of Cloverport; a daughter, Morgann Tayllor Guffey of Cloverport; a sister, Amber Dockery of Clarksville; two brothers, Chuck Dockery and Kevin Dockery, both of Clarksville; two half brothers, Adam Hale and John Hale, both of Rosedale, Ind.; her grandfather, George Hutchinson of Scottsburg, Ind.; and her grandmothers, Millie Hutchinson and Patsy Hutchinson, both of Scottsburg.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Wallace-Burns Funeral Home in Cloverport with the Rev. Tim Mattingly officiating. Burial will be in Cloverport cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Asthma Allergy Foundation of America, 12333 20th St. N.W., Washington, DC 20036.

Robert Lee Flores Sr.

HARDINSBURG - Robert Lee Flores Sr., 54, of Webster died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, at Breckinridge Health, Inc. He was retired from civil service and was an Army and Navy veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Annette Flores; a son, Robert Lee Flores Jr.; two daughters, Renee Beecham and Meghan Flores; two stepsons, Scotty Dowell and Davy Dowell; a stepdaughter, Jenny Ford; his parents, Samuel and Evelyn Flores; three brothers, Samuel Flores Jr., Manuel Flores and Rene Flores; and three sisters, Alicia Flores, Lily Metcalf and Vena Bean.

Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday at New Clover Creek Baptist Church near Hardinsburg. Burial: New Clover Creek cemetery. Visitation: From 3:30 to 8 p.m. today and after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg.

Amanda Jo 'Mandy' Pharris

MORGANTOWN - Amanda Jo "Mandy" Pharris, 22, of Little Bend died Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System from injuries suffered in an auto accident. She worked for the U.S. Postal Service and was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church.

Survivors include her parents, Freddy and Kathy Pharris; her grandmother, Evelyn Pharris; and two brothers, Shane Pharris and Jordon Pharris.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Jones Funeral Chapel in Morgantown. Burial: Point Pleasant cemetery in Little Bend. Visitation: From 1 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Timothy Hunter Lamb

Timothy Hunter Lamb, 5 weeks, of 4918 Sturbridge Place, Owensboro, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005, at Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville. He was born on Jan. 18, 2005, in Owensboro.

He is survived by his mother and father, Kristin Walker and Ronnie Lamb; four brothers, his twin, Carter Brandon Lamb, Jorden Walker, Spencer Russ and Brayden Russ, all at home; his sister, Alexis Russ, at home; his maternal grandmother, Sandra Glenn of Owensboro; his maternal grandfather and grandmother, Tim and Debbie Walker of Owensboro; his paternal grandparents, Pam and Ronnie Lamb of Owensboro; his great-grandparents; great-great-grandparents; and several uncles and aunts.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 4, at James H. Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Owensboro, with the Rev. Farrell Isenberg of Crosspointe Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Children's Hospital Foundation, FBO Kosair Children's Hospital, Suite 450, 234 E. Gray St., Louisville, KY 40202.

Christopher Mark Dayman

BEAVER DAM - Christopher Mark Dayman, 55, of Beaver Dam died Friday, Dec. 10, 2004, at his home. He was born April 1, 1949, in Buffalo, N.Y. He was an associate art professor at Owensboro Community and Technical colleges for 15 years. He was an artist. He enjoyed creating charcoal images of the natural world. He also worked in ceramics. He enjoyed spending time in nature. He loved canoeing on Rough River Lake and Muskoka Lake in Canada.

He is survived by his wife, Sonya Taylor Dayman; a son, Taylor Howard Dayman; a sister, Monica Burrington of California; and three brothers, Mark Dayman of Georgia and Toby Dayman and Robin Dayman, both of Vermont.

Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home chapel. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
