CUSTER - Kathleen Grace Fitzsimmons, 46, of Custer died Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, at University Hospital in Louisville.

Survivors include two sisters, Gail Dockery and Carol Slone.

Services: Noon Friday at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg. Burial: Webster Union cemetery. Visitation: After 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions: Crusade for Children.

Mary Lou Settle

Mary Lou Settle, 71, of Owensboro died Sunday, March 6, 2005. She was born in Owensboro on Feb. 27, 1934, to the late Darrell and Margaret Whittaker Sandefur. She worked at General Electric for 23 years, was an LPN at Community Methodist Hospital in Henderson for 19 years and was a founding member of God's Open Door Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Settle Jr., on Sept. 22, 1993.

Survivors include her son, David Settle of Daytona Beach Shore, Fla., a daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Barry Wahler of Owensboro; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Douglas and Freda Sandefur of Henderson; sisters and brothers-in-law, Peggy Sue and Ralph Brewer of Owensboro and JoAnne and McAtee "JR" Hale of Reo, Ind.; a stepson and daughter-in-law, Rick and Mary Kaye Settle; and a stepdaughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Denny Clark, all of Kansas City, Mo.

Services are at 10 a.m. Tuesday at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Community cemetery in McLean County. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to American Red Cross, 1650 W. 2nd St., Owensboro, KY 42301.

Betty Morgan

Mrs. Betty Morgan, 79, of Highview returned to her Heavenly Father on Friday, March 11, 2005. She was a native of Owensboro and a homemaker.

She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Mike Clark (Marty) and Jim Clark; a stepson, Floyd Morgan; two stepdaughters, Sharon and Pam; her daughter-in-law, Beth Morgan; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral service for Elizabeth A. Morgan will begin at 11 a.m. EST Monday at Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks on Preston Highway at Brooks Road in Shepherdsville, where family and friends may kindly visit on Sunday from 1 until 7 p.m. Interment will be in St. Thomas cemetery in Nelson County.

Forest W. Sturgeon

CLOVERPORT - Forest W. Sturgeon, 97, of Owensboro, formerly of Cloverport, died Thursday, March 10, 2005, at Leisure Years Nursing Home. He was a retired farmer, a former member of the Cloverport Masonic Lodge 133 F&AM and a member of the Fordsville Masonic Lodge 600 F&AM. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Owensboro. He was preceded in death by his wife, Freda Gines Sturgeon; two sons, John Sturgeon and William Earl Sturgeon; and a granddaughter, Sherry Sturgeon.

He is survived by three sons, Russell Sturgeon and wife Stevie Sturgeon of Owensboro, Joseph Sturgeon and wife Betty Sturgeon of Owensboro and Rodney Sturgeon and wife Noreen of New Jersey; a daughter-in-law, Betty Sturgeon of Owensboro; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

Services are Sunday, March 13, 2005, at Wallace-Burns Funeral Home with burial in Cloverport cemetery. Visitation will be today from 3 to 8 p.m. and on Sunday from 8 a.m. until time of service at Wallace-Burns Funeral Home. Masonic services will be at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

William E. 'Bill' Rice

William E. "Bill" Rice, 68, of 1438 W. 11th St., Owensboro, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born March 11, 1936, in Ohio County. He served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1967 at Fort Hood, Texas. He worked at V.E. Anderson as a driver for many years, Modern Welding and retired as over-the-road driver from Cresline Plastics of Evansville. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends at Affordable Auto Sales and watching UK and KWC basketball. He was preceded in death by his parents, Talmage and Freda (Lloyd) Rice; and two sons, Larry Carlisle and Keith Carlisle.

He is survived by his loving wife, Flossie L. Rice of 36 years; five sons and their wives, Jack and Carolyn Carlisle of Owensboro, Wayne and Mary Rose Carlisle of Owensboro, James F. and Rexie Carlisle of Philpot, Steve and Sonia Carlisle of Owensboro and Rick and Gail Carlisle of Owensboro; six daughters and their husbands, Kristina and Mike Aldridge of Owensboro, Shannon Reynolds of Owensboro, Floetta and Ronnie Vaughn of Owensboro, Sandra and Ronnie Sandefur of Philpot, Elaine and Mike Thompson of Owensboro and Bonnie and Dale Bowlds of Owensboro; a sister, Becky and her husband, Danny Pogue, of Fordsville; an aunt, Racheal Atherton of Owensboro; several cousins; and two nephews and two daughters-in-law, Mary Carlisle of Albany, Ind., and Connie Carlisle of Owensboro. Also surviving are 29 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home chapel. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens, with military honors conducted by VFW Post 696 Honor Guard. The Rev. Doug Grant will officiate. The family wishes that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Audubon Church of the Nazarene Building Fund, 15 Carter Road, Owensboro, KY 42301.

BREMEN - Agnes E. Lewis, 90, of Bremen died Friday, March 4, 2005, at Deaconess Hospice Care Center in Evansville. She was a homemaker and member of Albright Methodist Church in Evansville.

Survivors include a son, Walter Lewis; and four daughters, Barbara Kemski, Shirley Southwell, Leesa Clark and Junadele Rasberry.

Services: 11 a.m. today at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial: Mount Pisgah cemetery in Bremen. Memorial contributions: Deaconess Ohio Valley Hospice Care Center, 601 North Boeke Road, Evansville, IN 47711.

Allyson Patricia Holder

Allyson Patricia Holder, one year, died Saturday, March 5, 2005, after a lengthy illness at St. Mary's Medical Center. Allyson was born Feb. 19, 2004, in Evansville to Kathy (Riney) and David S. Holder. She was preceded in death by her sister, Ashley Taylor Holder, in 1995; her maternal grandmother, Patricia Riney in 2003; and a paternal grandfather, Harry C. Holder III, in 2003.

Allyson is survived by her parents and a brother, David Alex Holder of Newburgh, Ind. Also surviving are a grandfather, Thomas B. Riney, and a grandmother, Marilyn C. Holder, of Owensboro; uncles, Phil Riney of Birmingham, Ala., Billy Riney and his wife, Dottie, of Owensboro, Steve Holder of Owensboro; aunts, Holly Rouse and her husband, Jeff, of Owensboro, Stephanie Orton and her husband, Jim, of Nashville; and cousins, Tony, Maggie and Luke Riney of Owensboro, Andrew and Matthew Rouse of Owensboro and Christopher Orton of Nashville.

Funeral services for Allyson will be held beginning at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, at the Titzer Family Funeral Home, Simpson Chapel, 510 W. Jennings St., Newburgh, continuing at 11 a.m. with a Mass of Christian burial at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 625 Frame Road, Newburgh. Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery in Owensboro. The Rev. Joseph Ziliak will be officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made online to https://www.martinezfoundation.org for the research of children's metabolic diseases or to St. John the Baptist Library Fund in memory of Allyson Holder. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

LEWISPORT - Kevin T. Gilliam, 37, of Lewisport died Sunday, March 6, 2005, at his home. He was born Sept. 2, 1967, in Owensboro, the son of Rodney Gilliam and Mary Beth Roehm. He was a member of Lewisport United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Gulf War. He enjoyed playing music. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, O.T. Young and Gurney B. Gilliam.

Survivors include his wife, Angela Gilliam of Lewisport; a son, Cameron Gilliam, at home; a daughter, Kaeley Gilliam, at home; his mother and stepfather, Mary Beth and Ed Roehm of Lewisport; his father and stepmother, Rodney and Sandy Gilliam of Sandy Hook; a brother, Chris and his wife, Shannon Gilliam, of Lewisport; a stepbrother, Barry and his wife, Melanie Blair, of Sandy Hook; a stepsister, Kelly and her husband, Randy Deerfield, of Sandy Hook; his grandmothers, Shirley Young of Lewisport and Loretta Gilliam of Sandy Hook; a great-grandmother, Myrtle Dickerson of Sandy Hook; five nephews; four nieces; and a great-niece.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Taylor-Raymond-Spear Funeral Home in Lewisport, with the Rev. Vic Morris officiating. Burial will be in Lewisport cemetery. Visitation is from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 8 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

William H. Cary

William H. Cary, 78, died Saturday, March 5, 2005, in Maple Manor Nursing Home as a result of injuries suffered from a fall at his home. He was a retired coal miner, a member of Luzerne General Baptist Church and an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Margie Cary; a son, William Paul Cary; three daughters, Belinda Neill, Sheila Newman and Gail Sisson; and a brother, Lindy Cary.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial: Lone Star cemetery in Weir. Visitation: From 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Masonic rites: 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Lola E. Roark

Lola E. Roark, 87, of Bon Harbor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Owensboro, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2005, at Bon Harbor. She was born in Muhlenberg County and was retired after 40 years with Ken-Rad and General Electric Co. She was a member of Hall Street Baptist Church, which she loved very much, and the Love Sunday school class. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews, and always enjoyed her work. She was preceded in death by two brothers, T.O. Roark and Burren Roark; and four sisters, Agnes Pauline Davis, Lois Strader, Dorothy Gregory and Gallah Strader.

Surviving are a brother and his wife, Alben L. and Rena Roark of Owensboro; and 10 nephews and eight nieces.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, at Glenn Funeral Home chapel. Entombment will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today and after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hall Street Baptist Church, 1102 Hall St., Owensboro, KY 42303.

James Lee 'Jack' Perry

ELIZABETHTOWN - James Lee "Jack" Perry, 59, of Elizabethtown died Monday, March 7, 2005, at his home. A retired field construction boilermaker, Jack was a 30-year member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers. He served as the Local 40 chairman of the executive board at the time of his retirement. He was a member of First Christian Church in Elizabethtown. He was a native of Hardin County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Perry and Gladys L. Newton (formerly Perry); and a brother, Roger Dale Perry.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Perry of Elizabethtown; two sons, James "Jimmy" Perry of Glendale and Jason Perry of Louisville; two stepdaughters, Heather Perry of Bloomfield, Ind., and Norah Perry of Louisville; two sisters, Patricia "Pat" (Danny) Miller of Rineyville and Brenda Kay (Terry) Parrish of Lebanon Junction; two brothers, Wendel (Sherry) Perry of Inverness, Fla., and Michael (Gina) Perry of Beverly Hills, Fla.; seven nephews; four nieces; and others who knew and loved him.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. EST Thursday, March 10, at Manakee Funeral Home in Elizabethtown, with the Rev. Terry Jones officiating. Burial will be in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Boilermakers rites will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1807, Louisville, KY 40201.
