Urey Littleton Lancaster, 94, of 1614 W. Parrish Ave., Owensboro, died Monday, March 14, 2005, at Hermitage Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Owensboro. He was born in Hancock County to the late Charlie and Lizzie (Marsh) Lancaster. He had been employed at Whitehall Furniture and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ollie Mae Samples Lancaster, in 1989.

He is survived by a son, Robert L. Lancaster of Yelvington; three grandchildren, Carol Miller (Eddie), Nichelle Lancaster (Scott Majors) and Todd Lancaster; and two great-grandchildren.

Services are at 2:30 p.m. today, March 15, at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Burial is in Yelvington cemetery in Daviess County. Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

E.W. 'Pappy' Hayes

HARDINSBURG - E.W. "Pappy" Hayes, 86, of Hardinsburg died Sunday, March 13, 2005, at Breckinridge Health Inc. He was a World War II veteran and a member of Hardinsburg Baptist Church.

He is survived by two sons, Tim Hayes and Mark Hayes.

Funeral services: Noon Wednesday at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home. Burial: Kingswood cemetery. Visitation: From 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Nancy Carol Vanover Dowell

Nancy Carol Vanover Dowell, 50, of Owensboro died Saturday, March 12, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System. Born April 17, 1954, in Owensboro, Mrs. Dowell was a member of Liberty Lighthouse Church and enjoyed gospel music and caring for her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles M. Vanover; and a sister, Martha Jean Vanover.

She is survived by her husband, Darrell Lee Dowell; three daughters, Stephanie Shouse of Madisonville and Judith Shouse and Jennifer Shouse, both of Owensboro, five grandchildren, Amber Bell, Aaron Bell, Jacob Weikel, Tammy Sims and Richard Sims; her mother, Helen Deno Vanover of Owensboro; five brothers, James O. Vanover of Las Vegas, Danny Vanover of Lexington, Texas, Charles E. Vanover of Owensboro, John Vanover of Hawesville and Neal Vanover of Reed; and four sisters, Ann Cox, Ruth Horn and Brenda Layne, all of Owensboro, and Thelma Anderson of Crystal River, Fla.

Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today, March 15, at Glenn Funeral Home, with burial in Calhoun cemetery. Visitation will be after 10 a.m. today at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to American Cancer Society.

Robert Wesley Daughtry

RIDGETOP, Tenn. - Robert Wesley Daughtry, 74, of Ridgetop died there Saturday, March 12, 2005.

He is survived by a daughter, Deborah (Howard) Kirby; and two sons, Wayne (Darlene) Daughtry and Bennie (Sue) Daughtry. He is also survived by two sisters, Mary Jenkins and Vivian Henry; three brothers, Shirley, Oscar and Delbert Daughtry, all of Owensboro; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today, March 15, at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home, 127 N. Main St., Goodlettsville, Tenn. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. today at Spring Hill cemetery in Robertson County, Tenn.

Senada R. Craft

HAWESVILLE - Senada R. Craft, 85, of Hawesville died Sunday, March 13, 2005, at Oakwood Healthcare in Tell City, Ind. She was born in Hancock County on June 24, 1919, to the late Wallace and Nora Swithart Rice. She retired from General Electric in Tell City after 38 years and was a member of Hawesville Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Malcolm Ogle and Bill Craft.

Survivors include four daughters, June Thiery of Troy, Ind., Rita Brown of Wapella, Ill., Carol Ballard of Owensboro and Janet Taylor of Maroa, Ill.; a son, Mike Craft of Hawesville; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, at Hawesville Baptist Church, with Dr. James Wedding officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens in Hawesville. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today and from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Gibson & Son Funeral Home in Hawesville.

Joseph R. 'J.R.' Conley

Joseph R. "J.R." Conley, 81, of Owensboro passed on Saturday, March 12, 2005, at his home. Born May 13, 1923, Mr. Conley was retired from T.J. Bartlett Gulf Oil Distributor, where he was a transport truck driver. He enjoyed fishing, fixing lawn mowers, helping people, reading Westerns and especially spending time with his grandchildren and his faithful companion, Buster. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Cecilia Louise Gentry and Belva Jean Bullock.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Myrtle Phegley Conley; three daughters, Ava Jo Conley of Owensboro, Linda Watts of Masonville and Kay (and her husband, Richard) Hall of Whitesville; five grandchildren, Franklin Lee Gillim II, Jeana Lynell Clater, Carolyn Kay Naegele, Amanda Jane Baird and Tabatha Lane Hall; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Josephine Marie Edmondson of Yelvington; and a brother, James Ernest Conley of Michigan.

Funeral services are at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, at Glenn Funeral Home, with burial in Elmwood cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after noon Wednesday at the funeral home.

Dorothy Rhodes Capelle

Dorothy Rhodes Capelle, 92, of 2010 Griffith Place West, Owensboro, died Sunday, March 13, 2005, at the Carmel Home in Owensboro. She was born on April 6, 1912, in Owensboro to the late Edwin and Alma (Aull) Rhodes. She was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral, Mercy Hospital Auxiliary and Golden Partners. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dudley Capelle, in November 1991.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dudley Capelle Jr. and Ruth Ann of Corydon, Ind.; a daughter, Ann Capelle Simon of Owensboro; three grandchildren, Christie Ledford, Kara Simon and Dan Capelle; six great-grandchildren, two brothers, the Rev. Father Joseph Rhodes of Owensboro and Tony Rhodes and wife, Kay, of Owensboro; and a sister, Angela Kerrick of Owensboro.

Services are at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 16, at St. Stephen Cathedral in Owensboro. Burial is in Elmwood cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro, where prayers will be said at 6:30 p.m. today.

Sophia Miller Basham

BEAVER DAM - Sophia Miller Basham, 83, of Cromwell died Sunday, March 13, 2005, at Maple Manor Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Greenville. She retired from the housekeeping department at Ohio County Hospital and was a member of Hickory Cumberland Presbyterian Church near Beaver Dam.

Survivors include her husband, Edward Basham.

Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial: Sunnyside cemetery in Beaver Dam. Visitation is from 5:30 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Ethel Pearson Bandy

BEECHMONT - Ethel Pearson Bandy, 92, of Beechmont died Monday, March 14, 2005, at 10:47 a.m. in Belle Meade Nursing Home in Greenville after a lengthy illness. She was born Sept. 13, 1912, in Muhlenberg County, the daughter of Richard Milton Pearson and Lou Ella Parker Pearson. She was a Christian and a member of Beechmont Missionary Baptist Church, where she was active in Sunday school with youth and older adults. She was a devoted wife and mother and was preceded in death by her husband, T.B. Bandy; a son, Tommy Bandy; and a grandson, Scott Vincent.

She is survived by three daughters, Polly Vincent of Greenville, Becky (David) Shutt of Greenville and Peggy Sue (Jim) Edmonds of Ledbetter; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, March 16, at Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville, with the Rev. Tommy Stovall and the Rev. W.R. Cook officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery in Greenville. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, March 15, and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Effie Mae Allen

HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. - Effie Mae Allen, 84, of Hendersonville died there Saturday, March 12, 2005. A native of Daviess County, she had made Sumner County, Tenn., her home for the past several years.

Survivors include two sons, Jim Allen Jr. (Susan) and David Allen (Patricia); a daughter, Deedra Smith (Yoshi); a sister, Norma Taylor; a double cousin, Juanita Riley; three loving grandchildren, Chris, Brandon and Morgan Allen; and a great-grandchild, McKenzie Allen.

Services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 16, at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro, with interment in Rosehill cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Hannah C. Aldridge

Hannah C. Aldridge, 89, of 2024 Asbury Place, Owensboro, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born on June 5, 1915, in Owensboro to the late Walter Nelson and Mary Jones Nelson. She was a homemaker and a member of Third Baptist Church and Gideon Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Ann Wilkerson, in 1972.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Stuart J. "Oz" Aldridge; a daughter, Barbara Sue Wells of Kerrville, Texas; two grandchildren, Thomas Warren Wheatley of Marble Falls, Texas, and Richard D. Wheatley Jr. of Austin, Texas; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Narzella Payne of Ohio County and Minn Ora Johnson, both of Owensboro.

Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, at Glenn Funeral Home, with burial in Elmwood cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today and after 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Third Baptist Church Building Fund, 527 Allen St., Owensboro, KY 42303.
