CENTERTOWN - The Rev. Phillip Brown, 53, of Centertown died Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Marion, Ill. He was disabled veteran, a member of Holiness Faith Church and a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Burden Brown; four sons, John Brown, Kevin Brown, Bobby Brown and Jackie Brown; two daughters, Angela Johnson and Salina Brown; and two sisters, Betty Williams and Charlotte McKinney.

Graveside services: 2 p.m. Saturday at Taylormine cemetery in Beaver Dam. Visitation: From 1 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam.

Debbie Brooks

SACRAMENTO - Debbie Brooks, 43, of Sacramento died Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at her home. She was a homemaker and attended New Cypress Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include a son, Jimmy Joe Brooks Jr.; a daughter, Jennifer Brooks; her mother, Mary Sue Frank; three brothers, Carol Phelps, Richard Phelps and Larry Phelps; a sister, Mary Lou Stewart; two half brothers, Eddie Phelps and Jerry Ring; and two half sisters, Carolyn and Janie Mae.

Graveside services: 1 p.m. today at New Cypress cemetery in McLean County. Visitation: From 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Memorial contributions: Debbie Brooks Memorial Fund, c/o Muster Funeral Homes, P.O. Box 160, Calhoun, KY 42327.

Samuel John Palmer Sr.

Samuel John Palmer Sr. of Owensboro died Saturday, April 2, 2005, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Phoenix, Ariz., to the late Eckert and Cecilia Palmer. He leaves behind his best friend, true love and wife of 50 years, Sue Wiley Palmer of Owensboro; three sons, Sam Jr. (Jan) of Central City, Paul (Joan) of Germany and Jim (Connie) of Owensboro; two daughters, Evelyn (Phil) Keeley of Owensboro and Amanda Palmer of Bowling Green; and eight grandchildren.

A decorated Vietnam War veteran, Sam was a career United States Marine, serving his nation in both war and peace time for over 23 years and retiring in 1975. An avid fisherman, he enjoyed dropping a line whenever the fish and weather permitted. He loved spending time with his family and traveling. He was very much loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.

Private memorial services will be held at a later date. His family wishes to thank Hospice of Owensboro for their kindness, compassion and for making it possible for our husband and father to pass with dignity surrounded by his family. The family requests that all expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Hospice Association of Owensboro, 723 Harvard Drive, Owensboro, KY 42301.

Philip Wayne Thompson

Philip Wayne Thompson, 51, of Owensboro passed away Thursday, March 31, 2005, at his home. He was born in Owensboro and retired from OMU. He worked for the John Deere dealership for 25 years and was presently working part time at Westerfield Implement in Hartford. He had also just recently completed courses for auto body repair. He attended Owensboro Catholic High School and completed many vocational courses. He was a past member of the National Guard.

He was a kind, generous, loving person who was always helping his family and friends in need. He was devoted to his family and was always there for them. In his spare time he enjoyed being with his grandchildren and was looking forward to a new grandson. He also enjoyed collecting John Deere memorabilia and was a fan of NASCAR racing. You could always find him tinkering in the garage and making everyone around him laugh.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 30 years, Gina Ferrell Thompson, who died Sept. 16, 2003; and a granddaughter, Bailey Smith Thompson, who died Nov. 13, 1999.

Survivors include one son, Andy Thompson and his wife, Amy; his daughter, Katie Thompson and her fiancé, Vic Stallings; and two grandchildren, Dylan Thompson and Zachary Stallings, all of Owensboro. He is also survived by his mother, Alberta Hagan; and two sisters, Sandy Thompson and Becky Payne and her husband Jerry; one brother, Bill Thompson and his wife Debbie, all of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Pius Catholic Church with burial in Resurrection cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday and after 11 a.m. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home. Prayers will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 309, Owensboro, KY 42302.

Neal 'Jay' Webb

Neal "Jay" Webb, 50, of 6733 Lamplite Circle, Owensboro, died Sunday, April 3, 2005, at his home. He was a truck driver and an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene Brooks Webb; two daughters, Tammy Price and Angela Ricon; a stepson, Joseph Logsdon; a stepdaughter, Brandy Espinosa; a brother, William Webb; and two sisters, Dawn McCoy and Ruby Johns.

Graveside services: 1 p.m. today at New Cypress cemetery in McLean County, with military honors conducted by McLean County Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post No. 5415. Visitation: From 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Memorial contributions: Neal "Jay" Webb Memorial Fund, c/o Muster Funeral Homes, P.O. Box 160, Calhoun, KY 42327.

George Washington Bryant

HARDINSBURG - George Washington Bryant of Stephensport died Thursday, April 7, 2005, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Ind. He was an Army veteran and a member of Alexander Chapel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Anna Louise Drake Bryant; three sons, Danny Bryant, Larry Bryant and Edward Sipes; and three daughters, Patricia Birkla, Patsy Snograss and Brenda Greenwell.

Services: 1 p.m. Saturday at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg. Burial: Lyons cemetery in Custer. Visitation: From 3:30 to 8 p.m. today and after 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions: Alzheimer's Association.

Pauline Edwards

Pauline Edwards, 93, formerly of Pleasant Ridge, of Leisure Years Nursing Home, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, April 8, 2005. She was born June 1, 1911, in Hart County and retired from Masonville School as a cook after more than 20 years. She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, taking care of homeplace and her church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Monte Edwards on Dec. 17, 1948; five brothers; four sisters; and her parents, William and Sarah Long Spencer.

Survivors include a son, Montie Edwards and his wife Norma of Utica; two loved grandchildren, Ginger Edwards of Louisville and Chris Edwards of Cedartown, Ga.; and a special nephew, Richard Spencer and his wife Susie of Owensboro.

Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. April 17, 2005, at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Roberts and the Rev. Franklin Skaggs officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2005, at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home in Owensboro is in charge of arrangements. The family wishes that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Parking Lot Paving Fund, 4195 Highway 764, Pleasant Ridge, KY 42376.

Bettye Ruth Price

Bettye Ruth Price, 76, of Whitesville died Sunday, April 10, 2005, at her home. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Owensboro. She was a 50-year member of American Legion Auxiliary. She was a homemaker and retired caregiver. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Maxwell, James and Virgil Harden; and two sisters, Louise Robertson and Mary Hilda Neighbors.

She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Michalowski of El Cajon, Calif., and Patricia Baasch of Portland, Ore.; two sons, Greg Price of Asheville, N.C., and Richard Price of Crestline, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville, with burial in Old Panther Creek Church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today and after noon Thursday at the funeral home.

Donald Stephen Oliver

HARDINSBURG - Donald Stephen Oliver, 75, of Hardinsburg died Monday, April 11, 2005, at Medco Center in Hardinsburg. He was a member of Lighthouse Assembly of God.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Oliver; two sons, Joseph Stephen Oliver and Clarence Earl Oliver; two daughters, Norma Jean Wright and Sarah Theresa Aynes; a brother; and two sisters.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Lighthouse Assembly of God in Hardinsburg. Burial: Ivy Hill cemetery in Hardinsburg. Visitation: From 4 to 8 p.m. today at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the church. Memorial contributions: Donald Stephen Oliver Memorial Fund, c/o Trent-Dowell Funeral Home.

Robert L. Izsak

Robert L. Izsak, 56, of 2511 O'Bryan Blvd., Owensboro, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2005, at his home. He was born in Highland, Ill., to the late Joseph and Mary G. Morris Izsak. He was retired from Phillip-Morris and had been attending Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He was a Kentucky Colonel, an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and remained a very patriotic man. He was very devoted to his family, was an avid sports fan and coached baseball at Southern Little League and Our Lady of Lourdes. He also was preceded in death by a nephew, Jacob Izsak, in 1999.

Surviving is his son, Chad Izsak of Owensboro; a sister, Mary Jo Kelly of Bowling Green; a brother, Tony Izsak of Owensboro; his stepfather, Marvon Spencer of Owensboro; a niece, Caprice Steward of Bowling Green; and a nephew, Jesse Izsak of Owensboro.

Funeral services will be at noon Thursday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, with burial following in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Kenneth Ray Hillard
04/13/2005

CALHOUN - Kenneth Ray Hillard, 59, of Calhoun died Monday, April 11, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was a Marine Corps veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice Hillard; and two sons, Ray Hillard and Chris Hillard.

Services and burial are private. Visitation: From 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro.
