BARTOW, Fla. - Ms. Elizabeth L. Reeves, 80, of Bartow died of cancer Monday, July 25, 2005, at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale. She was born in Rumsey on March 12, 1925, and moved from Rumsey to Bartow 12 years ago. She was a nurse's aide and a member of Bartow First Baptist Church.

Ms. Reeves is survived by her daughters, Wanda Lee Waltz of Bartow and Jessie Carol Conkright of Louisville; a son, Larry S. Talley of Herndon, Pa.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow handled arrangements.

Alice McDaniels Bartlett

Alice McDaniels Bartlett, 73, of 6037 Todd Bridge Road, Owensboro, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born on Oct. 14, 1931, in Knottsville to the late Charles and Rena McDaniels. She worked in the Daviess County School System at Tamarack Elementary School in the lunch room. She was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed doing word puzzles, crocheting and being with all her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert and Wilbur McDaniels; and a great-grandchild.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Harold C. "Boat Daddy" Bartlett; two daughters, Shelia Williams (Ted) and Donna Hamilton (Tony); two sons, Charles Bartlett (Pam) and Clay Bartlett, all of Owensboro; nine grandchildren, Greg Williams, Matt Williams, Pamela Bartlett, Penny Fout, Christy Smith, Sondra Smith, Heath Hamilton, Michael Hamilton and Hallie Hamilton; and eight great-grandchildren. Alice's very special extended family included Cliff and Joyce Bartlett, Judy and Charles Lindsey, Shirley and Cola Duncan and Elizabeth Bowen.

Services are at 1 p.m. Monday at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro, with burial in Elmwood cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, with prayers said at 4 p.m., and after 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Wendell Foster's Campus for Developmental Disabilities, P.O. Box 1668, Owensboro, KY 42302 or Hospice Association, 723 Harvard Drive, Owensboro, KY 42301.

Nancy Louise Bryant

Nancy Louise Bryant, 49, of 3236 Highway 1414, Hartford, went peacefully in her sleep on Friday, July 29, 2005. She was born in Daviess County on Oct. 11, 1955, to Mary and the late Ed Mattingly. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Nancy's whole life revolved around her grandbabies.

She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Allen Bryant; a daughter, Angie Marie Frizzell (Adam); a son, Allen V. Bryant II (Laura Keown) of Hartford; four wonderful granddaughters, Haylee Frizzell, Emily Bryant, Lindsey Bryant and Morgan Frizzell; and several brothers and sisters.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial will be in Bells Run Baptist Church cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 6 p.m. today and after noon Sunday at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the National Kidney Foundation of Kentucky, 250 E. Liberty St., Suite 710, Louisville, KY 40202.

Larry Allen Kasinger

Larry Allen Kasinger, 54, of 8320 Jack Hinton Road, Philpot, died at 12:45 p.m. Thursday, July 28, 2005, at his home. He was born Aug. 2, 1950, in Daviess County to James Kasinger and Gayle Johnson Kasinger and was employed by Baskin-Robbins and Owensboro Board of Education as a custodian. He was an Army veteran and a member of Audubon Nazarene Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, UK basketball and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gayle Johnson Kasinger, in 1990.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Sheila Henry Kasinger; and a son, Jeff Kasinger and his wife, Sherry, of Owensboro. Larry Kasinger was a father figure for Brian Leishman and his wife, Julie, of Newburgh, Ind. Other survivors include a daughter, Jennifer Husk and her husband, Chuck, of Philpot; eight grandchildren, Eric Husk, Landon Havener, Beth Husk, Lauren Kasinger, Ashton Leishman, Brooklyn Kasinger, Lexi Havener and Sheridan Kasinger; his father, James Kasinger of Centertown; two brothers, Terry Kasinger of Robards and Jerry Kasinger of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are at 1 p.m. Monday at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home in Owensboro, with the Rev. Doug Grant officiating. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove cemetery in Sorgho.

Lillian Sunn

CALHOUN - Lillian Sunn, 93, of 390 Main St., Calhoun, died Thursday, July 28, 2005, at Ohio County Hospital in Hartford. Lillian Lee Field was born on Jan. 30, 1912, in Logan County to the late Claude and Clarice Porter Field and was later married to John K. Sunn. Lillian was a licensed insurance agent and a co-owner of the Hayden Insurance Agency in Calhoun. She was a member of Calhoun Baptist Church, enjoyed camping and was an active member of Vienna Lodge No. 66 Order of the Eastern Star. Her husband, John K. Sunn, died Aug. 23, 1978.

Survivors include a son and his wife, David and Reva Sunn of Calhoun; a brother, whom she cared for like her own son, and his wife, Bobby and Georgie Field of Owensboro; five grandchildren and their spouses, Debra and Stephen Riggs of Rumsey, Shelli and Jody Stevenson of Calvert City, Bryan Sunn of Calhoun, Amy and Martin Veach of Hawesville and Abby and Steve Joines of Owensboro; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel, with Dr. Richard Sams and the Rev. Franklin D. Skaggs officiating. Burial will be in Calhoun cemetery. Friends may visit with the Sunn family from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Sunday at Muster's in Calhoun.

The Sunn family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Calhoun Baptist Church, Christian Life Center, P.O. Box 283, Calhoun, KY 42327. Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at Muster's in Calhoun.

Harold C. Baize

BEAVER DAM - Mr. Harold C. Baize, 68, of Beaver Dam went home with Jesus on Wednesday evening, July 27, 2005, at his home. He was born on Sept. 24, 1936, at Renfrow in Ohio County. His parents, Cletus and Reola Baize, preceded him in death. He was a retired mechanic with Peabody Coal Co.'s Ken Surface Mine, a member of United Mine Workers of America and a beloved member of Fairview Baptist Church near Olaton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Louiise Baize, on March 4, 2003.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Linda Sue and Harold Crockett of Hartford; his wife, Doris Ann Baize; four sisters, Augustine Napier of Horse Branch, Carolyn Havens of Morgantown and Mary Lou Himes and Beulah Dean Baker, both of Savannah, Tenn.; and three brothers, LeRoy Baize of Beaver Dam, Gerald Baize of Greenville and John Henry Baize of Hartford.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, with the Rev. Jewell LeGrand and the Rev. Lealin Geary officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery in Hartford. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Fairview Baptist Church, c/o Wanda Watson, 226 Shultz Road, Fordsville, KY 42343. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Vernon L. Hester

Vernon L. Hester, 70, of 1605 W. 4th St., Owensboro, died at 4 a.m., Thursday, July 28, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born on Jan. 10, 1935, in Owensboro and retired from the production line at W.R. Grace Daramic after 30 years. He was an Army veteran and a member of AMVETS, American Legion and Fraternal Order of Eagles. He enjoyed traveling and fishing. He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Dupin; a brother; three sisters; and his parents, George and Louise McGuire Hester.

Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Bonnie Hester; two daughters, Patty Thrasher of Philpot and Tonya Thorpe of Owensboro; six grandchildren, Tara Thrasher, Brittany Thorpe, Gary Dupin Jr., Sammy Thrasher, Chasity Thorpe and Travis Dupin; and a niece, Jennifer Sexton.

Services are at 10 a.m. Saturday at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home with the Rev. James Ivy Stanley officiating. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Yellow Creek cemetery in Thruston.

Christine McPherson

BUCK CREEK - Christine McPherson, 82, of Buck Creek died Tuesday, July 26, 2005, at her home. Christine was born on July 18, 1923, in Muhlenberg County. She was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandson. She was a member of Union Chapel General Baptist Church in Ennis. Her husband of more than 48 years, Harold McPherson, died April 13, 1994. Christine was also preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include a son, Wayne McPherson of Buck Creek; a daughter and her husband, Lynn and Ron Sweeney of Livermore; three grandchildren, Brett McPherson of Livermore, Kyle McPherson of Tell City, Ind., and Kristi Hayden of Owensboro; a great-grandson, Beau McPherson of Livermore; and three brothers, Caryle Robinson, Paul Robinson and Tommy Robinson, all of Muhlenberg County.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Union Chapel General Baptist Church in Ennis, with the Rev. Gary Shockley officiating. Burial will be in Union Chapel cemetery. Friends may visit with the McPherson family from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel.

Kevin Bratcher

BEAVER DAM - Kevin Bratcher, 40, of Lynchburg, Va., formerly of Ohio County, died Tuesday, July 26, 2005, at his home. He was born in Louisville on June 18, 1965, to Hoyt and Eleanor Whitely Bratcher of Horse Branch, who survive. He was employed by Areva in Lynchburg as a mechanical engineer and was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Lynchburg. He graduated from University of Louisville.

Survivors include his wife, Francis Geary Bratcher of Lynchburg; a son, Nicholas Bratcher of Lynchburg; a daughter, Tabitha Bratcher of Lynchburg; a brother, Dwayne Bratcher and his wife, Pamela, of Hartford; two sisters, Angelita Swift and her husband, Mark, and Renetta Romero and her husband, Paul, all of Horse Branch; and two nieces and two nephews.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 31, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, with the Rev. Tim Cook officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside cemetery in Beaver Dam. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 30, and after 9 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Freda Lee Wemes

Freda Lee Wemes, 79, of 820 Bolivar St., Owensboro, was called home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, July 27, 2005, at her home. She was a native of Gauley Bridge, W.Va., had been a waitress at the Executive Inn for 20 years, attended Good Shepherd Church and loved playing bingo, listening to music and spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alva and Almida Coleman Miller; a son, Michael John Parker, in 1990; and her husband, Wilbur C. Wemes, in 1995.

Survivors include five daughters, Freda Turner of Nitro, W.Va., Wanda Toney of Owensboro, Linda Jo Brown of Las Vegas, Janet Heitz Thurman of Hardinsburg and Misha Byers of Owensboro; a son, Leonard "Will" Heitz of Owensboro; two sisters, Irene Walker of Brunswick, Ohio, and Lorena Lilly of Beckley, W.Va.; a brother, Edward Miller of Gauley Bridge; 25 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 31, at Glenn Funeral Home chapel. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 30, and after noon Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sorgho Baptist Church cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice.
