Randall Lee Hendricks

Randall Lee Hendricks, 74, of Owensboro passed from this Earth on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005, after a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Blanche Dennison Hendricks; a sister, Margaret Paxton; and a brother, Lawrence (Junior) Hendricks, all of Central City. He retired from Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. (A&P) after 33 years of service. He was also employed by Larry's Key Market, Wyndall's Foodland and the Teacher's Aid Inc. He was a member of Parrish Avenue Baptist Church. He loved coaching and playing softball, golf, NASCAR, baseball, University of Kentucky basketball and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Willadean (Deanie) Hendricks; a daughter, Tonya (Steve) Lewis; and two sons, Rod (Ruth Ann) Hendricks and Terry (Linda) Hendricks, all of Owensboro. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Amber and Heather Hendricks and Allison, Joseph and Alivia Lewis; and five great-grandchildren, Brendan Hendricks, Ryleigh Arvin, Keylen Winstead, Krislon Talbott and Tyren Frazier.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home, with burial in Rosehill cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 333 Guthrie St., Suite 207, Louisville, KY 40202.

Roger Dale Koonce

BREMEN - Roger Dale Koonce, 48, of Bremen died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005, at his home. He was self-employed in computer repair and was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Marsha Robin Koonce; a daughter, Shannon Knight; a grandchild, Logan Knight; and his parents, Herbert Sr. and Etta Margaret Koonce.

Services: 3 p.m. Sunday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial: Fairmount cemetery in Central City. Visitation: After 5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mary Louis Payne

Mary Louis Payne, 94, of Knottsville, after a long life of loving Jesus Christ went home to Him on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005. She was a member of St. William Catholic Church in Knottsville. She was a retired cook for St. William School. She was a homemaker and an accomplished quilt maker. She loved spending time with family and friends and raising chickens. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Ivo Payne; and three grandchildren, Lisa Diane Payne, Kevin Rhodes and Lori Ann Boling.

She is survived by seven children, Ruby Ward of Owensboro, Sister Mary Gerald of Mount St. Joseph, Angelina Baca of Nevada, Gerald Payne (Pat) of Livermore, Jo Boling (Marvin) of Pleasant Ridge, Elsie French (Bill) of Lewisport and Dorothy Rhodes of Owensboro. She is also survived by 26 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; a brother, Gerald Mattingly of Knottsville; and two sisters, Lena Payne of Knottsville and Ada Goff of Bedford, Ind.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. William Catholic Church in Knottsville. Burial will be in St. William cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Saturday at Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville, with prayers said at 6 p.m. today. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. William cemetery.

James V. 'JV' Richey

BREMEN - James V. "JV" Richey, 73, of 587 Baker Road, Bremen, died at 6:20 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. He was born Oct. 20, 1931, in Muhlenberg County. He was a coal miner, carpenter and logger and worked in the coal mines. He was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Odessa Gish Richey of Bremen; four sons, Don (Joy) Richey of Central City and Gary (Donna) Richey, Kelly (Shannon) Richey and Jeff (Wilma) Richey, all of Bremen; a daughter, Brenda (Jeff) Schindler of Bremen; two brothers, Bobby Richey and Richard Richey, both of Bremen; a sister, Nora Mae Bruce of Versailles; and nine grandchildren.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with the Rev. Dan Yeager, assisted by the Rev. Leroy Rearden, officiating. Burial will be in New Harmony cemetery in Bremen. Visitation is after 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Walter Ray Campbell

BEAVER DAM - Walter Ray Campbell, 85, of 1696 U.S. 231 South, Beaver Dam, died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005, at Beaver Dam Health Care Manor. He was born on April 28, 1920, in Ohio County to the late Walter Blanie Campbell and Ira Shown Campbell. He was a retired farmer and member of Hartford United Methodist Church. He was a past master and 50-year member of Hartford Masonic Lodge No. 675 and past matron and a 50-year member of Lizzie Ford Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star No. 112. He was also a member of Ohio County Farm Bureau and Owensboro Shrine No. 2, Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Lee Campbell, on March 1, 1992.

Survivors include a brother, Earl Franklin Campbell of Hartford; two sisters, Cova Hale and Doris Jean Davis, both of Hartford; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Masonic and Eastern Star services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery in Hartford.

Mary C. Covetts

LEWISPORT - Mary C. Covetts, 65, of Lewisport passed away Monday, Aug. 1, 2005, at her home. She was born on March 15, 1940, in Lewisport, the daughter of the late Allen and Mary Sipes (Lewis) Covetts. She retired after 25 years from Commonwealth Aluminum and was a member of Lewisport United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by a brother, James A. "Abbie" Covetts, in 2005.

Survivors include a daughter, Cathy,and her husband, John Gardner, of Troy, Ill.; a brother, Billy and his wife, Joyce Covetts, of Lewisport; five sisters, Faye Bittel of Lewisport, Louise and her husband, Wallace Cohron, of Morgantown, Dorothy Emmick of Lewisport, Betty and her husband, Paul Voyles, of Lewisport and Sue Allen of Lewisport; a grandchild, Natasha Kelly; and four stepgrandchildren, Russ, Amelia, Haley and Sara Gardner.

Services are at 2 p.m. Friday at Taylor-Raymond-Spear Funeral Home in Lewisport, with the Rev. David Voyles and the Rev. J. Alton Lawhorn officiating. Burial will be in Lewisport cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Nick Lee Felix

BEAVER DAM - Nick Lee Felix, 43, of Caneyville died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005, in Muhlenberg County. He worked at MTV, attended Smalls Grove Non-denominational Church in Caneyville and was an Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Robin Felix; a son, Nicholas Kyle Felix; a stepson, Jarrod Blake Huff; a daughter, Allyson Paige Felix; a stepdaughter, Lauren Nicole Huff; his mother, Mary Lou Felix; and a sister, Patricia Adams.

Services: 3 p.m. Friday at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial: Sunnyside cemetery in Beaver Dam, with military rites. Visitation: From 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Jessie Rebecca Kester Fertko

HARTFORD - Jessie Rebecca Kester Fertko, 95, died Monday, Aug. 1, 2005, at her home. She was born the daughter of the late James Franklin and Lydia Alberta Johnston Magan in Ohio County. She was a member of Dundee United Methodist Church and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Lester Kester in 1983, and Andrew Fertko in 2003.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty May of Hartford; four grandchildren, Mary Jane (Bruce) Chisholm of Owensboro, John Paul May of Beaver Dam, Polly Ann (Gary) Porter of Hartford and James S. (Shannon) May of Hartford; a brother, Stanley Magan of Hartford; seven great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and several stepchildren, stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Duke-Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Hartford. Friends may visit with the family from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Xavier Lee Kessinger

Xavier Lee Kessinger, infant son of Jessica Luck of Owensboro, died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System.

Other survivors include his maternal grandparents, Sharon and Ernest Kessinger; two half brothers, Elija Luck and Richard Luck; and a half sister, Geriney Luck.

Graveside services: 11 a.m. Friday at Elmwood cemetery in Owensboro. Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Teddy Lee Spurlock

BEECHMONT - Teddy Lee Spurlock, 59, of 30 Pine Woods Blvd., Oldsmar, Fla., died at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005, at his home. He was born Aug. 22, 1945, in Muhlenberg County and was a member of Country Side Baptist Church in Clearwater, Fla. He was a disabled veteran and served in the U.S. Air Force.

Survivors include his wife, Lisa Hamilton Spurlock of Oldsmar; five children, Teddy Lee Spurlock Jr. of Morgantown, Lance Spurlock of Beaver Dam, Bridgett Spurlock of Hartford and Jarred Spurlock and Olivia Spurlock, both of Oldsmar; five grandchildren; his parents, Wanda and Gene Luckett of Beechmont; and a brother, Tommy Spurlock of Greenville.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home, with the Rev. Brian Browning officiating. Burial will be in Jackson cemetery at Leighs Chapel Baptist Church in Beech Creek. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Friday at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Olivia Spurlock Education Fund, c/o Old National Bank, Greenville, KY. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Carlos Ray Stroud Sr.
08/04/2005

Carlos Ray Stroud Sr., 85, of Owensboro died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System. Born July 2, 1920, in Centertown, he was the son of the late Eugene and Belva Jackson Stroud. Mr. Stroud was a member of Walton's Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Centertown and attended Third Baptist Church in Owensboro, where he was a member of Berean Sunday School class and the Senior Adults. He was a 60-year member of Pipefitters Local 633. Mr. Stroud was preceded in death by his first wife, Altha Ashby Stroud, in 1972; and six siblings, Margaret Heishman, Byron Stroud, Lena Mae Lloyd, Eugene Stroud, Finis Stroud and Wilma Liles.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Dorothy Jean Rummage Stroud; three sons, Dr. Carlos Stroud Jr. of Rochester, N.Y., Stephen Stroud of New York City and Keith Stroud of Owensboro; two stepchildren, Pam Howard and Larry Lawrence, both of Owensboro; six grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and two sisters, Adelle Moberly of Beaver Dam and Louise (and Dr. N.A.) Chetta of New Orleans.

Funeral services are at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home, with burial in Rosehill cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday and after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Walton's Creek Missionary Baptist Church or to a favorite charity.
