Merle Prince, 79, of Cold Spring, died at 7:45 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas. He was a retired dental technician with Weber Dental Lab, Ft. Thomas, and a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Dena Johnson Prince; sons, Duane Prince of Alexandria and Roger Prince of Ft. Wright; brothers, Ralph Prince of Cincinnati and Woody Prince of Covington; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Ft. Thomas. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mary Elizabeth Schuchter, 83, of Highland Heights, died at 10:55 a.m. Friday at Lakeside Terrace in Highland Heights. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring. Her husband, John A. Schuchter Sr., died in 1974.
Survivors include sons, John A. Schuchter Jr. of Ft. Thomas and Lawrence S. Schuchter of Crestview; daughters, Elizabeth A. Taylor of Alexandria and Mary M. Barrow of Crestview; a brother, Jerry Moellman of Alexandria; sisters, Rita Thomas of Park Hills and Virginia Schwartz of Florence; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

James Richard Sparks, 74, of California, Ky., died at 11:55 p.m. Friday at Hawthorne Glen Nursing Home in Middletown, Ohio. He was a retired tool and gauge inspector with General Electric, and a former vice president of United Auto Workers Local No. 647, Cincinnati. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Highland Heights, and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn F. Pope of Liberty Township, Ohio; sons, Gerald F. Sparks of Alexandria and Thomas R. Sparks of Liberty Township; daughters, Sue Krift of Butler and Kath y Knepfle of Ft. Thomas; a sister, Bonnie McCloud of Grayson; 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Ft. Thomas. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery.

Ruby Van Arsdale, 86, of Crescent Springs, died at 7:20 p.m. Friday at her son's home in Walton. She was a cook with Crescent Springs Elementary School, and a member of Crescent Springs Baptist Church. Her husband, former city councilman and mayor Ansel Van Arsdale, died in 1968. A son, Donald Van Arsdale, died in 1994.
Survivors include a son, Ronald G. Van Arsdale of Walton; brothers, Alfie Bowen and Billy Bowen, both of Dry Ridge, George Bowen of Gardnersville and Randal Bowen of Pleasant Ridge; seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Baptist Cemetery, Grant County.

Melvin Warner, 57, of Ross, died Thursday at his son's residence in Somerset. He was a warehouse manager for Tri-State Automotive, Hamilton, Ohio, and was a veteran of the Air Force.
Survivors include his son, Tony Warner of Somerset; brothers, Lindell Warner of Butler and Glen Warner of Cold Spring; and sisters, Christine Soister of Ross and Violet Hornback of Butler.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cooper Funeral Home, Alexandria. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery.

Earl W. Washmuth, 94, of Florence, died at 10:12 p.m. Friday at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence. He was a retired machinist with American Tool Works, Cincinnati, a farmer, and a member of Union Baptist Church. He was a Sunday school teacher and superintendent with the church. His wife, Alma Washmuth, died in 1991.
Survivors include a son, Earl C. Washmuth of Tulsa, Okla.; daughters, Eleanor Dameron and Shirley Smith, both of Florence; eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

August John Wessling, 72, of Erlanger, died Saturday at his home. He was a retired barge maintenance man with with Valley Line Co., Cincinnati. His wife, Mary Wessling, died in 1985.
Survivors include a daughter, Rosemary Leath of Florence; sons, August Jay Wessling of Erlanger and Thomas Wessling of Independence; a stepdaughter, Debbie Blackburn of Piner; eight grandchildren and three great- grandchildren.

Elsmere's Bobby T. McGuire, fought MS, helped found church
As a younger man, Bobby T. McGuire's belief in God led him to help found a church.
During the last eight years of his life, bedridden with multiple sclerosis, Mr. McGuire's belief in God helped him remain positive and caring to those around him.
"His faith kept him going," said Mr. McGuire's wife, Patty.
Mr. McGuire, of Elsmere, died Friday night at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit in Covington. He was 66 years old.
Mr. McGuire was born and reared in Belfry, a city in Pike County. He was a Korean War veteran and a member of the Foresters.
For 30 years, Mr. McGuire was a maintenance worker at the U.S. Postal Service office at Liberty and Dalton streets in Cincinnati.
"He liked it," said Mrs. McGuire. "He was a very nice person."
In the early 1970s, Mr. McGuire helped found the Lighthouse Freewill Baptist Church in Elsmere.
"He had been attending another Freewill Baptist Church in Dayton, and he wanted to have a church around here," said Mrs. McGuire. "He was very dedicated."
Mr. McGuire struggled with multiple sclerosis for 18 years. Mrs. McGuire said he spent a lot of time reading and visiting with relatives when he was confined to bed.
"He spent his time reading his Bible," she said. "He did a lot of reading. Most of the TV he watched was ministry TV.
"We have seven grandkids. He was crazy about them all. He had a great personality. He was always encouraging people."
Besides his wife and seven grandchildren, survivors include daughters, Mary McGuire and Kathy Bankemper, both of Erlanger, and Tina Hargett of Elsmere; sons, Donald McGuire of Crescent Springs, Tom McGuire and Mark McGuire, both of Elsmere, and Steve McGuire of Glencoe; brothers, Bill McGuire and Frank McGuire, both of Piner; and sisters, Bonnie Whitehead of Demossville, Betty Lamb of Louisville and Ann Eldridge of Fresno, Calif.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Linnemann Funeral Home in Erlanger. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery
in Erlanger.

Louise Birkett, 95, of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, died Thursday in Coeur d'Alene. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Pius Church in Coeur d'Alene and the Ladies Auxiliary of Letter Carriers. Her husband, Arthur T. Birkett Sr., died in 1976. A son, Arthur T. Birkett Jr., also preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Don Birkett of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; eight grandchildren, 18 great- grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Pius Church in Coeur d'Alene. English Funeral Home, Coeur d'Alene, is handling arrangements.
