Janice Lowe, 60, of Taylor Mill, died Wednesday at Jewish Hospital, Louisville.

Arrangements are pending at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill.

Beatrice Major, 96, of Florence, died Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence. She was a saleswoman with Avon Cosmetics, and a member of Providence Church of Christ, Rockcastle County.

Survivors include sons, Clarence Major of Florence and Glen Major of Somerset; daughters, Faye Major and Opal Meece, both of Florence; a sister, Christine Brown of Eubank; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Providence Cemetery, Rockcastle County. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association, 1885 Dixie Highway, Suite 250, Ft. Wright, Ky. 41011. Stith Funeral Home, Florence, is handling arrangements.

Elizabeth Nellis, 96, of Dayton, died Tuesday at Hillside Nursing Home, Cincinnati. She was a retired employee of Gibson Greeting Card Co., Covington, and the owner of Monmouth Aquarium, Newport.

Survivors include a son, Jerry Nellis of Highland Heights; a half-brother, Doug Bickel of Ft. Thomas; nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 7730 U. S. 42, Suite C6, Florence, Ky. 41042. Radel Funeral Home, Newport, is handling arrangements.

Earl J. Neltner Sr., 72, of Cincinnati, formerly of Cold Spring, died Monday at Mercy Anderson Hospital in Cincinnati. He was a driver with Husman Potato Chips.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Ehrman Neltner; daughters, Kris Sieja and Peggy Stark, both of Cincinnati, Laura Heller of Loveland, Ohio, and Annette Restle of Crestview Hills; sons, Earl Neltner Jr. of Moscow, Ohio, and Brian Neltner of Withamsville, Ohio; brothers, Dick Neltner of Ft. Thomas, Art Neltner of Cold Spring and Harold Neltner of Cincinnati; sisters, Helen Jones and Dot Rizzo, both of Ft. Thomas; and 20 grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Cincinnati. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at T. P. White & Sons Funeral Home, Cincinnati. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Ft. Thomas.

William E. Rawlings, 66, of Kennebunkport, Maine, formerly of Newport, died Jan. 8 at his home. He was president of the Maine Publishing Corp. and former publisher of two weekly New England newspapers, the Maine Times and Casco Bay Weekly. He was a former president of American Maize Products Co.; a group vice president of the Gillette Co.; and a corporate vice president and division president of General Foods Corp.

Survivors include his wife, Arlene Hunt Rawlings; sons, John Rawlings and Christopher Rawlings; daughters, Susan Rawlings and Lesley Rawlings; a brother, Harry A. Rawlings; and a grandchild. Services will be Saturday in Kennebunkport. Memorials are suggested to Maine Cancer Research and Education Foundation, P. O. Box 553, Portland, Maine 04112.

Julia Ellen Frost Renschler, 93, of Carrollton, died Wednesday at Tri-County Baptist Hospital, LaGrange. She was a homemaker and a member of St. John Church, Carrollton. Her husband, Alfred Bernard Renschler, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Julia Schlie of Louisville; sons, Alfred William Renschler and Robert Eugene Renschler, both of Carrollton, and Lee Thomas "Tom" Renschler of McKees Rocks, Pa.; a sister, Myrtle Reed of Louisville; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John Church, Carrollton. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, Carrollton, with rosary services at 8 p.m. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Carrollton.

Ruth M. Steele, 75, of Springfield, Ohio, formerly of Demossville, died Tuesday at her daughter's home in Northfield, Ohio. She was a retired registered nurse and a member of Highlands United Methodist Church in Springfield. Her husband, Ernest Steele, preceded her in death.

Survivors include daughters, Rhonda Steele of Springfield, Ohio, and Teresa Van Der Meulen of Northfield, Ohio; a sister, Mary Childers of Covington; a brother, Stanley A. Reid of Cincinnati; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Highland United Methodist Church, Springfield. Visita tion will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Littleton and Rue Funeral Home, Springfield. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Mausoleum, Springfield.

Vernon Swim, 86, of Florence, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. He was a retired pipe fitter with Newport Steel and a member of Pohlmann-Linnemann VFW Post No. 1484, Park Hills. His wives, Helen Fromme Swim and Dorothy Rassche Swim, both preceded him in death.

Survivors include sons, Dennis Swim of Florence and Vernon Swim of Rio Alto, Calif.; stepsons, Paul Arnett, Brian Arnett and Eric Arnett, all of Florence; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. John Church, Covington. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell.

James Graylon Thacker, 35, of Covington, died Saturday at his home. He was owner of Thacker Construction Co., Covington.

Survivors include his mother, Mildred Beck of Newport; and sisters, Sarah Desentz of Newport and Lisa Blevins of Georgetown.

Services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Pendleton County. Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.

Elaine Meek Velissarios, 81, of Knoxville, Tenn., formerly of Falmouth, died at 6 a.m. Wednesday at University Hospital in Knoxville. She was a member of Falmouth United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Velissarios; a daughter, Marianne Fisher of Madison, S.D.; and a brother, James Robert Meek of Crystal River, Fla.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth.

Janice Lorraine Lowe gave big family love, laughter

Janice Lorraine Yogt Lowe, 60, loved being around her family.

In her younger days, she would play baseball with her children and take them on long drives in the country.

"We had eight children and she had a special love for each one of them," said her husband, Carl O. Lowe, of Taylor Mill. "She was a great wife, a beautiful woman. She always said she raised nine children, counting me."

Mrs. Lowe, of Taylor Mill, died at 11:57 a.m. Wednesday at Jewish Hospital, Louisville.

She was a retired distribution specialist with Rockwell International Corp., Florence, and a member of Eastside Kingdom Hall-Jehovah's Witness, Covington.

Mrs. Lowe also enjoyed being around her grandchildren.

"She loved to talk to the kids," Mr.

Lowe said. "She'd just laugh at them and what they had to say. She got a kick out of that."

"She was just a super person," Mr. Lowe said.

Other survivors include her sons, Bryan Lowe of Knoxville, Tenn., Randy Lowe and Gary Lowe, both of Taylor Mill, and Michael Lowe of Latonia; daughters, Sheryl Stewart of Florence, Karen Cowan of Independence, Tammy

Lowe of Covington and Rhonda Probst of Aurora, Ind.; sisters, Connie Turner of Dayton, Linda O'Toole of Cincinnati and Kathy Evans of Batavia, Ohio; and 13 grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Colson B. Altman, 74, of Williamstown, died at 1:33 p.m. Wednesday at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Lexington. He was a real estate broker, an auctioneer and a farmer. He also was a member of Antioch Church of Christ, Corinth; Disabled American Veterans, Lexington; Robert P. McLachlin American Legion Post 137, Williamstown; VFW Post 10208, Salt Springs, Fla.; and Grant Lodge 85 F&AM. And he was a member of Oleika Shrine Temple, Lexington, and Indra Consistory of the Scottish Rite, Covington. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, and a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. A daughter, Deborah Altman, died in 1979.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Gordon Altman; sons Bradley C. Brennecke of Cincinnati and Gary Altman of Louisville; brothers, Eldon Altman and Lewis Altman, both of Bethel, Ohio; a sister, Ruth Ray of California; six grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Masonic services at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Antioch Church Cemetery, Corinth.

Dorothy H. Mason, 75, of Ft. Thomas, died at 5:25 a.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker. Her husband, William H. Mason, died in 1973.

Survivors include daughters, Pamela Knepfle of Ft. Thomas; a sister, Betty Porter of Southgate; a brother, Harry E. Stuart of Newport; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Ft. Thomas. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

Stephen Rilling, 80, of Florence, died at 4:46 p.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a retired manufacturer's representative and a Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Martha A. Rilling; a stepson, Bob Greene of Ft. Thomas; sons, Michael Rilling of Ft. Thomas and Steve Rilling of Stow, Ohio; a daughter, Sandy Rilling of Akron, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Terry Kenny of Gastonia, N.C.; a brother, Joe Rilling of Akron, Ohio; sisters, Mary Olhoeft of Lynwood, Calif., and Anna Beidel of Akron, Ohio; and five grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia. Entombment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 130, Williamstown, Ky. 41097.
