Lucille H. Gerhardstein, 75, of Latonia, died Thursday at Jewish Hospital, Cincinnati. She was a clerk with Mabley & Carew Department Store.

Survivors include a daughter, Donna Heridon of Latonia; sons, Edward Gerhardstein and Ronald Gerhardstein, both of Cincinnati; a sister, Lorraine Moskowitz of Taylor Mill; and 10 grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 8 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Reading Cemetery, Cincinnati.

Phyllis Moeller, 72, of Ft. Wright, died at 10:02 p.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. Arrangements are pending at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow.

Laura Ellen Hardin Pumphrey, 101, of Carlisle, died Monday at Edgemont Manor Nursing Home in Cynthiana. She was a retired teacher, having taught in several Kentucky school systems, including Campbell County schools.

She also was a member of the Nicholas County Historical Society, the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association, and was active in veterans auxiliary organizations. She also was a member of the Carlisle Christian Church, where she was active as a Sunday school teacher and in missionary work.

Her husband, Bennie Pumphrey, and a daughter, Helen Pumphrey, both preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, Ben Pumphrey of Carlisle; daughters, Marion Jean Romo of Alexandria and Dr. Mary Ellen Lucas of Petersburg; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home, Carlisle. Burial will be in Carlisle Cemetery.

Alice Faye Sanders, 60, of Owenton, died Wednesday at Owen County Memorial Hospital in Owenton. She was a homemaker and a member of Owenton Second Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Jerry Westover of Independence; daughters, Pam Westover and Tracy Westover, both of Owenton, and Angie Chambers of Cincinnati; brothers, Joseph H. Sanders of Muncie, Ind., John W. Sanders of Cincinnati, Vernon H. Sanders of Indianapolis, Charles J. Sanders and Phillip S. Sanders, both of Owenton; sisters, Barbara A. Gayle of Frankfort, Betsy J. Hagan of Louisville and Zola Sanders of Frankfort; and six grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at McDonald Funeral Home, Seminary Street, Owenton. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Owen County.

Memorials are suggested to Owenton Second Baptist Church, Seminary Street, Owenton 40359.

Clay Sosby, 84, of Cynthiana, died Wednesday at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington. He was a retired welder, a farmer, a mechanic and a former employee of Boone County Board of Education. He was a member of Elmarch United Methodist Church, Harrison County. His first wife, Laura Margaret Sargent Sosby, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Morris Sosby; a son, Donald H. Sosby of Harrison County; a brother, Leonard Sosby of Jackson Center, Ohio; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Georgetown Cemetery.

Henry C. Sowder, 76, of Ludlow, died at 5:55 a.m. Thursday at his home.

He was a retired driver with Wilson Freight Line, Cincinnati, a member of Disabled American Veterans and the Teamsters, and was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.

Survivors include a son, Keith Sowder of Covington; daughters, Karon Grant and Sharon Vallandingham, both of Ludlow; a sister, Mary Grace Robinson of Cincinnati; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cobb Hill Church of Christ, Irvine. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Burial will be in Cobb Hill Cemetery, Irvine.

Lawrence Lang, retired printer

Printer's ink ran in the veins of Lawrence A. Lang.

Mr. Lang, a retired printer for The Cincinnati Post, died Thursday at the Highlands of Ft. Thomas nursing home. He was 92.

Before moving to the Highlands in August, he had lived for a few years with his daughter, Margaret Ackerman, in Taylor Mill.

Mr. Lang was born in Cincinnati and started working as a printer at The Post in 1925 at age 20. His father also had been a printer.

Mr. Lang was a Linotype machine operator, setting stories in type, said his son, Daniel Lang of Cincinnati. He worked at The Post for 47 years, retiring in 1972.

"He was a quiet man, laid-back and easygoing," said his son.

Mr. Lang was an avid golfer and taught his son the game. Mr. Lang played the public courses in Cincinnati.

He and his wife, Alice Eagan Lang, raised five children in the Cincinnati neighborhood of Hyde Park.

Alice died in 1968, and in 1970 Mr. Lang married Virginia Gallagher. Virginia Lang died in 1985.

"His family, his friends and his church were the things that were important to him," his son said.

Mr. Lang was a member of St. Mary's Church in Hyde Park and later St. Matthew's church in Norwood.

Mr. Lang remained active on the golf links into his late 80s, his son said.

Other survivors include daughters, Phillis Stevens of Santa Ana, Calif., Margaret Ackerman of Taylor Mill and Alice Thomas of Venice, W. Va.; a son, Lawrence Lang of Grand Prairie, Texas ; sisters, Jeannette Turner and Alice Massarella, both of Cincinnati; a brother, Eugene Lang of Cincinnati; 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Cecilia Church, Cincinnati. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Witt, Good and Kelsch Funeral Home, 3026 Madison Road, Cincinnati. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Montgomery, Ohio.

Virginia Louise Dewitt, 61, of Augusta, died Thursday at her residence. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Frank Dewitt; sons, James Ellery Hill and Paul Keith Hill, both of Augusta; a brother, Bob Case; a sister, Juanita Adkins; and six grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Moore and Parker Funeral Home, Augusta. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery, Dover. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hope, 1 W. McDonald Parkway, Maysville, Ky. 41056.

Stephen L. Garrison, 53, of Butler, died Thursday upon arrival at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas. He was a driver for Insko Trucking. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Garrison; a daughter, Leslie Ann Garrison of Butler; sons, David Garrison of Southgate, Todd Garrison and Jamie Garrison, both of Butler, and Mark Garrison of Latonia; his mother, Shirley Catherine Garrison of California; a brother, Eric Garrison of California; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pythian Grove Cemetery, Berry. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

Edgar Gould, 78, of Covington, died at 6:42 p.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.

Geneva Koop, 98, of Cincinnati, formerly of Bellevue and Newport, died Thursday at Western Hills Retirement Village in Cincinnati. She operated a general store in Bellevue along with her husband, Hilvert "Bud" Koop, who preceded her in death. She was a member of St. Antoninus Church, Cincinnati, St. Antoninus Adult Club, and Knights of St. John's Auxiliary at Sacred Heart Church, Bellevue.

Survivors include a daughter, Jeanne Bocklage of Cincinnati; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Antoninus Church, Cincinnati. Visitation will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Monday in the greeting room at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to St. Antoninus Endowment Fund, Linneman Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45238; or to Benedictine Monastery, Amsterdam Road, Villa Hills, Ky. 41017. Harry Meyer and Geiser Funeral Home, Cincinnati, is handling arrangements.
