Rita Moeller, 67, of Latonia, died at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at her residence.

Arrangements are pending at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill.

Clifford C. Ransom, 78, of Loveland, Ohio, formerly of Northern Kentucky, died at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Bethesda North Hospital, Cincinnati.

He was a retired machinist with Ford Motor Co., Cincinnati, and a member of Greater Cincinnati Apostolic Assembly Church, Cincinnati.

He was a member of Disabled American Veterans, American Legion Buckeye State Post No. 165 and the United Auto Workers Union.

He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Ransom; daughters, Donna Collohan of Oxford, Ohio, and Terry Clingner of Fairfield, Ohio; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Memorials are suggested to Disabled American Veterans Buckeye Chapter, 3725 Alexandria Pike, Alexandria, Ky. 41001.

Rev. James Cooley, raised family and spread gospel

For 16 years, Rev. James. A. Cooley preached the gospel inside a little church he built in his own yard.

The preacher played the guitar, sang and praised the Lord to a weekly congregation of 25 to 30 people. On Christmas, as many as 185 peo ple would crowd inside his church for prayer, free toys and food.

"God called Daddy to preach, and so Daddy was a preacher," said a daughter, Sheila Bryant, of Maysville. "He didn't go through no school or church.

"Wherever he'd go, he'd tell people about God."

Rev. Cooley, of Maysville, died at 12:35 a.m. Wednesday at his home. The 62-year-old preach er suffered from cancer.

He grew up in Garrison, Ky., and learned to play guitar and sing at a young age.

"He was a country boy, and music was their life. Every country boy had a guitar," his daugh ter said.

Before becoming a preacher, the Army veter an was a self-employed carpenter. He married his wife of 41 years, Irene Cooley, in 1956, and the couple had eight children.

He was a member of Ripley Assembly of God in Maysville.

In 1972, he quit his construction job after in juring his back. Soon after, he began preaching, his wife said, and from then on he devoted him self to spreading the Lord's word.

He preached at churches in Vanceburg, and he went to hospitals and homes, preaching, singing and giving away Bibles.

"He'd go from house to house back in these hollers where these little kids was, and to hospi tals," Mrs. Cooley said. "He'd just go all over the place."

In 1982, he built his church and held weekly services there. He also collected toys for needy children.

"We had it jammed once with 185 people, and that was his giveaway night for Christmas," his wife said.

"He was just a wonderful person," she said. "He had lots of friends."

Rev. Cooley also leaves sons, James H. Cool ey, Maurice Edward Cooley and Danny Albert Cooley, all of Germantown, and Teddy Allen Cooley of Maysville; daughters, Linda Cooper of Maysville, Betty Hamm of Aberdeen, Ohio, and Brenda Grych of Germantown; brothers, Earl Cooley, Estill Cooley, Clyde Cooley, Maurice Cooley and Harold Cooley, all of Garrison; a sis ter, Ruth Slone of Cincinnati; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Brell and Son Funeral Home, Maysville. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Maysville Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 7730 U. S. 42, Suite C6, Florence, Ky., 41042.

Gladys Carmichael, 97, of Ft. Thomas, died at 6:29 p.m. Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas. She was a retired teller with American National Bank.

Survivors include a nephew, Daniel Carmichael of Carmel, Ind., and a niece, Ruth C. Dziech of Ft. Thomas.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Evergreen Cemetery Chapel, Southgate. Burial will be in Southgate Cemetery. Memori als are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice. Dobbling Funeral Home, Ft. Thomas, is handling arrangements.

Barbara Hisle Cole, 47, of Covington, died Wednesday at Beechwood Nursing Home, Cincinnati. She was a former school teacher in Versailles and a member of Ninth Street United Methodist Church, Covington.

Survivors include a daughter, Kristi Cole of Covington; her mother, Sarah Riley Hisle of Covington; and a brother, Wen dall Hisle of Phoenix.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Highland Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell. Visita tion will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Jones and Simpson Funeral Home, Covington.

Orville S. Doyle, 95, of Vanceburg, died at 6:20 a.m. Thursday at Vanceburg Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. He was a retired farmer and a member of Washington United Methodist Church, Mason County. His wife, Jessie Wheeler Doyle, died in 1987. A son, Orville Winford Doyle, and a daughter, Geneva Doyle, both preceded him in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Anna Elizabeth Teegarden of Maysville; sons, Roy Doyle of Lewisburg, Ray Doyle of Fair field, Ohio, and Nelson Doyle of Williamstown; eight grandchild ren, 12 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Palmer Funeral Home, Mays Lick. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Shannon Cemetery, Mays Lick. Memorials are suggested to Lew isburg Baptist Church Building Fund, 7003 Owens Pike, Maysville, Ky., 41056; or Wash ington United Methodist Church Building Fund, Maysville, Ky., 41056.

Dorothy Grigsby, 80, of Cincinnati, died Wednesday at Deaconess Hospital, Cincinnati.

Survivors include a daughter, Jacqueline Wildeisen of Erlanger; a son, James Grigsby of Palm Harbor, Fla.; brothers, Pearl Baker of Silver Grove and Odell Baker of Highland Heights; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be Wednesday at Thonotosassa Baptist Church, in Thonotosassa, Fla. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Thonotosassa.

John Henry Hamilton, 86, of Latonia, died at 12:25 a.m. Thursday at Rosedale Manor Nursing Home, Latonia.

Daryl McDay, 28, of Newport, was found dead Tuesday at his home. He was a cook at Remington Restaurant, Newport.

Survivors include a son, Nathan Kilgore of Newport; his parents, Paul McDay of Detroit and Virinda Garland of Newport; sisters, Donna Watts and LeNora Tyler, both of Cincinnati, Meranda McDay, Cynthia Ware and Roxanne McDay, all of Newport; brothers, Paul D'Juan McDay, Kyron McDay and Gary McDay, all of Newport; half-brothers, Dayli Garland and Richard Witherspoon Jr., both of Newport; and grandparents, Johnnie and George Dean, and Burnecie Maddox of Newport.

Services will be at noon Saturday at Corinthian Baptist Church, Newport. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Linden Grove Cemetery, Covington. Jones and Simpson Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.

Rita Carol Hillman Moeller, 65, of Latonia, died at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday at her home. She was a retired packer with Liberty Cherry Co., Latonia.

Survivors include her husband, Robert H. Moeller; sons, Bobby Moeller of Morning View, Tom Moeller of Covington and Greg Moeller of Erlanger; daughters, Sandra Cox of Covington and Amy Bowman of Latonia; a brother, Joseph Hillman of Erlanger; sisters, Faith Rymarquis of Erlanger, Sue Moore of Erlanger, Janet Schmidt of Goshen, Ohio, and Bonita Squbella of Mt. Prospect, Ill.; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Entombment will be Floral Hills Mausoleum, Taylor Mill.
