Ralph Beatty Sr., 82, of Covington, died at 1:34 p.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a retired carpenter, held a fellowship degree and was a member of Covington Moose Lodge No. 1469. He also was a member of Sunday Morning Club; a past commander of Downey-Sowder VFW Post No. 1095, Ryland Heights; American Legion Post No. 203, Latonia; and the Latonia Social Club. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Eileen E. Houp Beatty; a son, Ralph Beatty Jr. of Irmo, S.C.; a daughter, Linda G. Custer of Independence; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, with a Moose service at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Memorials are suggested to charity of the donor's choice.

Mary Miller Dillon, 102, of Butler, died at 11:20 a.m. Monday at River Valley Nursing Home in Butler. She was a retired farmer and homemaker, and a member of St. Peter and Paul Church, Danville. Her husbands, Douglas King and James Dillon, both preceded her in death.

Survivors include a sister, Anna Louise Altenbach of Cincinnati.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Peter and Paul Church. Visitation will be from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. Friday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home, Danville. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery, Danville. Memorials are suggested to United Cerebral Palsy of Cincinnati, 3601 Victory Parkway, Cincinnati, Ohio 45229; or River Valley Nursing Home, 305 Taylor, Butler, Ky. 41006. Dobbling Funeral Home, Ft. Thomas, is handling arrangements.

Mattie Adkins Duncan, 79, of Newport, died at 7:24 a.m. Tuesday at Deaconess Hospital, Cincinnati. She was a homemaker. Her husband, James Herbert Duncan, died in 1979.

Survivors include a sister, Ruth Medley of Newport.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Williamstown Cemetery. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown.

Hazel Donahue Kumler, 88, of Independence, died Tuesday at Lakeside Place Nursing Home, Highland Heights. She was a homemaker, and a member of St. Barbara Church in Er langer, Beechgrove Homemakers and the church Share and Care Club. Her husband, Leroy Kumler, died in 1992. A daughter, Joyce Beck, died in 1984.

Survivors include a daughter, Thelma Stein of Independence; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Barbara Church. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to St. Barbara Church, 4042 Turkeyfoot Road, Erlanger, Ky. 41018; or the charity of the donor's choice.

Loyd Jack Lanningham, 67, of Covington, died at 6:36 p.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Edgewood. He was a retired clerk with CSX Railroad and a member of First Baptist Church, Newport.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille Lanningham; a son, Larry J. Lanningham of Fairfield, Ohio; a daughter, Karen Jenkins of Edgewood; brothers, Ed Lanningham of Covington, Don Lanningham of Milford, Ohio, Delano Lanningham of Hilton, Va., and Bob Lanningham of Low Gap, N.C.; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 8 p.m. Thursday at Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 5 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church Bereavement Committee, Eighth and York streets, Newport, Ky. 41071.

Thelma Jeanette H. Miller, 72, of Burlington, died Monday at her daughter's home in Burlington. She was a retired accredited record technician and medical records librarian with St. Luke Hospital East in Ft. Thomas and Children's Psychiatric Hospital.

After her retirement, she worked for Jetport at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.

Survivors include a daughter, Kaye Bell of Burlington; a son, Joe Miller of Bellevue; sisters, Ruth Jones of Newport and Joan Koenig of Florence; brothers, Don Hartman of Cleveland, Art Hartman of Mentor, Ohio, and Al Hartman of Covington; and five grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Burlington. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Burlington. Cremation will be at Hillside Chapel, Cincinnati.

Gerald Mark Morton, 58, of Cincinnati, was found dead at his home Monday. He was retired from General Motors, Cincinnati. He was a member of Aerie of Eagles Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 1162, Cincinnati, and an Army veteran.

Survivors include a son, Gerald Todd Morton of Demossville; a stepdaughter, Cheri Walling of Demossville; a brother, Lou Morton of Connecticut; sisters, Katie Smith of Lima, Ohio, and Betsy of Lima; one grandchild and two step-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell.

Juanita C. Pancake, 66, of Independence, died at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker and a member of First Church of Christ, Burlington. Her husband, Robert Pancake, died in 1992.

Survivors include a daughter, Ruie Pancake of Independence; sons, Frank Pancake of Florence, Freddie Pancake of Dry Ridge and Kenny Pancake of Independence; a sister, Angel Faith of Louisville; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at First Church of Christ. Visitation will begin there at 4 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Stith Funeral Home, Florence, is handling arrangements.

Gladys Price Whalen, 61, of Cynthiana, died Tuesday at Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Newt Whalen, and a son, Johnny Atwell Price, both preceded her in death.

Survivors include brothers, James Price, Jack Price and George L. Price, all of Cynthiana; sisters, Eloise Cason of Cynthiana and Betty Southerland of Lexington; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pythian Cemetery, Berry.

Williamstown grocer Donna Sue Neal, loved family, crafts, needy children

Donna Sue Anderson Neal helped feed a town and made a lot of friends along the way.

A Kenton County native, Mrs. Neal moved to Williamstown and ran Neal's Grocery Store. She and her husband Jerry A. Neal owned the family business.

"It was just a small, little-town mom-and-pop grocery store. It was a lot of work, but she enjoyed it," her husband said. "She made a lot of friends in the business."

Mrs. Neal, 54, died Tuesday at her home. She retired from the grocery store and was a homemaker and member of Williamstown Christian Church.

Mr. Neal said his wife nurtured any children in need. The couple unofficially adopted a girl.

"She just always took the kids in when they needed some place to go," Mr. Neal said.

Mrs. Neal loved to crochet, creating blankets and covers for items all over her own house and giving away many of her creations to friends and family, her husband said.

The Neals were married for 38 years.

Other survivors include sons, Tony Neal and Greg Neal, both of Williamstown; daughters, Joy Beth Phipps of Crittenden and Tara Lee Greis of Florence; her mother, Gladie Justice Anderson of Williamstown; sisters, Priscilla Losey of Walton, Faye Richardson of Taylor Mill, Judy Jones of Covington and Tanya Hartke of Villa Hills; brothers, Andy Anderson of Covington, George Anderson of Walton, Ray Anderson of Union and Homer Anderson of Dry Ridge; and nine grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Crittenden Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to National Crohn's Disease Foundation, 2139 Auburn Ave., Cincinnati, 45219.

Lillian E. Duncan, 80, of Covington, died at 3 a.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. She was a retired housekeeper for St. Elizabeth Medical Center North. Her husband, Emeard Duncan, died in 1948.

Survivors include sons, Herbert Duncan of Covington and Jack Duncan of Brookville, Ind.; a brother, Roy Yoakley of Covington; sisters, Myrtle Robertson of Covington, and Mary Deuring and Carol Marshall, both of Cincinnati; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell.

Gertrude Lacefield, 77, of Ghent, died Wednesday at Corbin Baptist Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of Ghent Christian Church. Her husband, Bernard Lacefield, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Vickie Culver of Ghent; a son, James Lacefield of Corbin; a sister, Callie Meadows of Carrollton; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Ghent Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today at Graham-Dunn Funeral Home, Carrollton.

Edna Myers, 88, of Covington, died June 2 at Fountain Care Hospital, Orange County, Calif. She was a retired Thompson-Coke Advertising worker in Orange County, and a member of First Baptist Church of Covington.

Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn Morsch of Palm Desert, Calif.; a sister, Blanche Kuhn of Covington; a brother, Charles Clinkinbeard of Covington; three grandchildren and four great- grandchildren.
