Ben H. Kennedy, 82, of Burlington, died Thursday at Woodspoint Nursing Home. He was a retired iron worker for Stewart-Decatur Security Systems Co. He was a World War II veteran.
Survivors include a son, Gary Joseph Kennedy of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Burlington. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Hebron. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell.

William J. Molique, 38, of Norwalk, Ohio, formerly of Cold Spring, died Thursday in Norwalk. He worked at Bores Manufacturing in Monroeville, Ohio.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa Bores Molique of Norwalk; a son, Daniel Molique of Norwalk; a daughter, Elizabeth Molique of Norwalk; his parents, Jim and Evelyn Molique of Alexandria; a brother, Richard Molique of Bellevue.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Jump Funeral Home, Monroeville, Ohio, with visitation from 1 p.m. Memorials can be made to St. Joseph School Endowment Fund, Monroeville, Ohio.

Jaroslaw Struk, 71, of Sadieville, died Thursday at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington. He was a steel fabricator for Mid-State Steel in Lexington.
Survivors include his wife, Maria Struk of Sadieville; a son, Andrew Struk of Corinth; stepsons, Richard Staniz of Bricktown, N.J., and Johnny Staniz of San Diego, Calif.; and four grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Porter Cemetery, Sadieville. There will be no visitation. Rogers Funeral Home, Corinth, is in charge.

Marjorie Pemberton, ran day care, aided others
Marjorie E. Pemberton built her life around children.
She and her husband operated a store in Covington selling school books, supplies and hot lunches for 17 years, then ran a successful day-care center for another 14 years.
"She was really good with the children, and she always put them first," said her husband, Charles E. Pemberton Sr.
Mrs. Pemberton, of Covington, died at 8:55 a.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit in Covington. She was 80.
She and her husband grew up in Corbin, and graduated from Corbin High School in 1936. They married two years later.
The couple, seeking jobs, moved to Covington, where they raised four children.
In 1955, the couple bought a store in Covington and named it Pemberton's Confectionery.
"We bought this store down there and we sold school books, supplies and sold school lunches," Mr. Pemberton said. "We touched many lives of the young people."
Hot lunches were sold to students at Sixth District School until the school installed its own lunch program in the early 1970s. That's when the Pembertons decided to go into a different business.
"I walked in there one day, and she said, "You know what I'd like to have in here?' I said, "What?' and she said, "A day-care center.' And that's how that happened," Mr. Pemberton said.
They remodeled the store and in 1972, reopened as Children's Corner Day Care Center. Mrs. Pemberton operated the center, which was licensed to serve 27 children. She cooked meals, helped her three employees care for the children and took care of the finances until 1986.
After she retired, Mrs. Pemberton volunteered with Elder Med at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, running the Second-Hand Shop in Covington, a store that sells used clothing and goods to benefit the hospital.
She also was a member of Immanuel Baptist Curch.
Other survivors include sons, Charles E. Pemberton Jr. of Knoxville, Tenn., and John P. Pemberton of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughters, Peggy Pemberton Kellser of Valencia, Calif., and Marilyn Karnes of Mission Viejo, Calif.; a sister, Mildred Meadows Topa of Greenville, S.C.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to Immanuel Baptist Church, 20th and Greenup, Covington, Ky. 41014.

Norma M. Schwerman Balzhiser, 97, of Bellevue, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas.

Ernest Alfred Brewer, 78, of Covington, died at 3:49 p.m. Friday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was a retired stock clerk with Cincinnati Terminal Warehouse, and an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, June Brewer, died in 1967.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty S. Rudde of Independence; brothers, Talmage Brewer of Ohio and James Brewer of Florida; sisters, Marcella Michaels of Erlanger, Jo Teegarden, Dorothy Ireland and Loretta Hammond, all of Corinth, and Bessie Bell of Elkhart, Ind.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Vivian Mae Butcher, 92, of Carrollton, died Sunday at Owenton Manor, Owenton. She was a homemaker and a member of New Liberty Christian Church. Her husband, Owen Wichliff Butcher, preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, Charlie Butcher of Moxley and John Butcher of Lexington; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Phillip Edwin Dawson, 83, of Taylor Mill, died Saturday at his home. He was a machinist with R. A. Jones Machine Shop, and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Knox Dawson; a daughter, Marcia M. Osborne of Erlanger; a brother, Charles H. Dawson of Somerset; and two grandchildren.

Kay Dettling, 52, of Covington, died June 25 at her home. She was the former director of entertainment at the Beverly Hills Supper Club, Southgate, and a member of First United Methodist Church, Covington.
Survivors include her mother, Wilma Frishe of Covington.

Hilda Veronica Futscher, 76, of Cold Spring, died at 9 p.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker, a member of St. Philip's Altar Society, and a field agent for the Catholic Order of Foresters, Camp Springs. She was a member of Campbell Social Seniors in Alexandria, Silver Grove Belles and Beaus, and the Cincinnati Germaine Society.
Survivors include her husband, Maynard B. Futscher; a son, Larry A. Futscher of Cold Spring; daughters, Joyce Vanover of Covington, Cathy Schuchter and Gerri Cunnigan, both of Cold Spring, and Bernie Jallick of Largo, Fla.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Emil King, 71, of Latonia, was found dead Monday at his home. He was a retired electrician with Cincinnati Gas & Electric Co. and a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and Kenton Fish and Game Club.

Ottie B. Miller, 87, of Owenton, died Sunday at Owenton Manor Health Care Center. She was a homemaker and a member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church, Owenton. Her husband, Marvin Lee Miller, preceded her in death.

James Gordon Mullins, 70, of Peach Grove, died Sunday at his home. He was a retired welder with Newport Steel and a Coast Guard veteran. His wife, Mary E. Pickens, died March 14.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ann Jacobs of Melbourne; sons, Ricky Lee Mullins Sr., of Peach Grove and Edward Dennis Mullins of Peoria, Ariz.; seven grandchildren and one great- grandson.

Walter Andrew Myers, 75, of Circleville, Ohio, formerly of Dayton, died at 2 p.m. Sunday at Berger Hospital in Circleville. He was a retired mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service, a member of Disabled American Veterans, and an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Florence Spreter Myers, died in 1988.
