Allan A. Ankenbauer, 78, of Covington, died at 2:55 p.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.

Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.

Laura Mae Collins, 84, of Walton, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a son, James Acuff of Walton; a stepson, William Acuff of Washburn, Tenn.; sisters, Lena Slagle of Mascot, Tenn., Marie Cameron of Talbott, Tenn., and Mable Wilson of Strawberry Plains, Tenn.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Bellers Chapel, Liberty Hill, Tenn. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Burial will be in Liberty Hill Cemetery, Liberty Hill, Tenn.

Edna Pearl Crane, 91, of Maysville, died Monday at her home. She was a model with Hudson's Department Store in Detroit, a former employee of Chrysler Auto Works in Detroit during World War II and a nursing home volunteer. Her husband, Edward Crane, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a brother, Ivan F. Humphries of El Monte, Calif.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Brell and Son Funeral Home, Maysville. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Green Acres Cemetery, Maysville. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hope, 1 West McDonald Parkway, Maysville, Ky. 41056.

Orvan Forsyth, 72, of Covington, died at 5:30 p.m. Monday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a pipe fitter with Newport Steel Co. in Wilder and a member of Newport No. 358 F&AM in Newport and Indra Consistory Valley of Covington Scottish Rite. He was an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, JoAnn Forsyth, died May 31.

Survivors include sons, Tim Forsyth of Covington, Melvin Forsyth of Hebron and Gary Forsyth of Newport; daughters, Debra Forsyth Ketcham of Ryland Heights and Sandra Forsyth Griffin of Kenton County; a brother, Melvin Forsyth of Taylor Mill; sisters, Alberta Porter of Florence and Marylee Parrish of Newport; 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

David Lynn Giles, 37, of Sparta, died Monday at his home after an extended illness. He was a former employee of Owenton Chrysler, Gallatin County IGA in Warsaw and Remke Market in Florence. He was a member of Scenic View Church of Christ, Gallatin County.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Liddie and James Jackson of Worthville; sisters, Carolyn Marksberry of Warsaw, Liddia Giles Hanson of Sparta, Sandy Courtney of Glencoe and Nannie Lynn of Owenton; and a grandmother, Amy Winn of Owenton.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Carlton-Lowder Funeral Home, Warsaw. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Warsaw Cemetery.

James "Walt" Jones, 67, of Covington, died Monday at Mercy Hospital Anderson, Cincinnati. He was a retired inspector for Newport Steel Company and an Air Force veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Hipsher Jones; sons, James Jones Jr. of Erlanger, Howard Fox of Cincinnati, Michael Carr of Toledo, Ohio, and Justin Jones of Covington; daughters, Rhea Mabrey, Scarlet Jones, Jamillah Jones, Charla Jones, Daria Jones and Theresa Tyler, all of Covington; a stepson, Robert Hipsher of Newport; a brother, Rasalee Waller of Florence; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at United Community Christian Church, Covington. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Mary Smith Memorial Cemetery, Elsmere. Jones and Simpson Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.

Kevin Allen Kaliin, 41, of Florence, died Sunday in an auto accident in Madison County, Ohio. He was a Kentucky state worker. A son, Benjamin Kaliin, died in 1996.

Survivors include daughters, Ashley Kaliin of Taylor Mill and Kourtney Kaliin, both of Taylor Mill; sons, Chris Kaliin, Matthew Kaliin and Nicholas Kaliin, all of Taylor Mill; his parents, Donald A. and Mary Lou Kaliin of Mason, Ohio; a sister, Kathie Gorski of St. Charles, Ill.; and a grandmother, Lillian Gole of Chisholm, Minn.

Memorial services will be at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will begin there at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Osborne Mattingly, 74, of Butler, died Monday at Veterans Administration Medical Center, Cincinnati. He was a farmer, a member of Flagg Springs Baptist Church in California and an Army veteran of World War II. A son, Osborne Mattingly Jr., died in 1970.

Survivors include his wife, Hilda Mattingly; daughters, Betty Smith of Butler and Debra Bishop of Falmouth; sons, John Mattingly of Butler, Tom Mattingly of Butler, Rodney Mattingly of California and James Mattingly of Florida; a stepdaughter, Linda Ferrel of California; a stepson, Edwin Bray of Fairfield, Ohio; and 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery, Mentor.

Roy Miller, 59, of Dayton, died at 10:40 p.m. Monday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a machine operator with Metalkraft, Cincinnati.

Survivors include his wife, Lillie Miller; daughters, Donna Miller of Georgia, Tammy Hedges of Erlanger and Angela Miller of Dayton; a stepson, Jerry Hollingsworth of Hebron; stepdaughters, Bertha Reckley of Fort Thomas and Doris Brown of Covington; sisters, Fannie Buchanan of Ohio, Mary Buchanan of Woodbine, Cora Hickman of New Jersey and Rhoda Moore of Harold; brothers, James Miller of Warren, Robert Miller of Covington and Ernest Miller of Corbin; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Full Gospel Assembly of God, Newport. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick, is handling arrangements.

Earl New, 81, of Owenton, died Tuesday at Owen County Memorial Hospital. He was a farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Judy New; sons, Earl Wayne New of Danville and John Russell New of Owenton; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at McDonald Funeral Home, Seminary Street, Owenton. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Squiresville Cemetery, Owen County. Memorials are suggested to Mt. Zion Baptist, Owenton, Ky. 40359.

Mildred M. Hanneken Niewahner, 81, of Villa Hills, died at 8:28 a.m. Monday at St. Charles Care Center in Fort Wright. She was a homemaker and a past secretary and treasurer of the City of Villa Hills. She was a Gold Star Mother and a member of Mothers of Purple Heart and Silver Star. Her husband, Edward J. Niewahner, died in 1975. A son, Sgt. Ronald Niewahner, died in 1968 in Vietnam.

Survivors include sons, Edward H. Niewahner and Louis Niewahner, both of Villa Hills, James H. Niewahner of Fort Thomas and Michael Niewahner of Toledo, Iowa; daughters, Mildred Niewahner and Gayle Starks, both of Villa Hills, and Renee Berkley of LaGrange; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Church, Crescent Springs. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington. Carmen Jeanne Presnell, 67, of Cincinnati, died Monday at Franciscan Hospital Mt. Airy Campus in Cincinnati. She was a homemaker and a member of Buckeye No. 587 Order of the Eastern Star and United Methodist Church Women. Her husband, Joseph Presnell, a former Northern Kentucky resident, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, Mark Presnell of Charlottesville, Va.; a daughter, Jenny Presnell of Oxford, Ohio; and a sister, Alyce Wiggins of Edmonds, Wash. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Miamitown United Methodist Church, Miamitown, Ohio. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Paul R. Young Funeral Home, Cincinnati. Myrtle Davenport Ravencraft, 66, of Maysville, died Monday at Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Maysville. She was a machine operator with January & Wood Co., Maysville.

Survivors include sisters, Imogene Tolle and Helen Smith, both of Maysville.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Brell and Son Funeral Home, Maysville. Burial will be in Maysville Cemetery.

Mabel Marie Townsley, 101, of Auburndale, Fla., formerly of Northern Kentucky, died Saturday in Winter Haven, Fla. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Samuel Archie Townsley, died in 1988. A son, Vincent Townsley, and daughters, Iretta Butch, Esther Fisk and Ethel Evelyn Haggard, all preceded her in death.

Survivors include sons, Russell Townsley of Boscobel, Wis., and Arnett Townsley of Florida; daughters, Geneva Grau of Las Vegas and Eunice Riley of Norwood, Ohio; 27 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Peoples Funeral Home, Butler. Visitation will begin there at noon Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery.

Randall C. Webster Jr., 47, of Galax, Va., died July 8 at Twin County Regional Hospital in Galax. He was a Galax city worker.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine Webster; daughters, Rhonda Michele Webster of Florence and Christina Carol Caldwell of Covington; his parents, Randall Webster of Owenton and Dorothy Mains of Covington; sisters, Pearl Kennedy of Florence, Audrey Wagoner and Gail Henson, both of Covington, Kim James of Burlington and Dorothy Widner of Owenton; a step-brother, Gary Kinman of Florence; three stepsons and six grandchildren.

Services were Sunday at Vaughn Guynn Funeral Home, Galax, Va.

Covington's Allan A. Ankenbauer, devoted to family, Cathedral Basilica

Allan A. Ankenbauer believed in church and family and spent most of his time taking care of both.

Mr. Ankenbauer, a retired bookkeeper with Bluegrass Plumbing and Electrical Supply Co., Covington, also was treasurer of the Holy Name Society of Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption in Covington.

"He liked the financial part of fund-raising. He was proud of taking care of the books," said a son, Tom Ankenbauer of Covington.

Mr. Ankenbauer and his wife, Dorothy Koepfle Ankenbauer, were married for nearly 50 years. They raised a group of children who remain closely-knit, their son said.

"All but one of us is still in the area," Tom Ankenbauer said.

Mr. Ankenbauer, 78, of Covington, died at 2:55 p.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington.

He was a member of Nocturnal Adoration Society at the church and was a Cincinnati Reds fan. Mr. Ankenbauer enjoyed gardening, taking walks and fixing things around the house. But most importantly, he was dedicated to his family, his son said.

"He was devoted to his wife. When one was sick, one took care of the other," Tom Ankenbauer said.

In addition to his wife and son, survivors include sons, Jim Ankenbauer of San Diego, David Ankenbauer of Burlington, Bill Ankenbauer of Crestview Hills and Paul Ankenbauer of Union; daughters, JoAnn Wess of Petersburg, Marilyn Rogg of Newport and Mary Jo Ankenbauer of Park Hills; a sister, Audrey Rose of Port Charlotte, Fla.; and 17 grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in St. Mary Mausoleum, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption, 1140 Madison Ave., Covington, Ky. 41011. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.
