Lucian Donald Combs, 61, of Fort Thomas, died at 11:50 a.m. Tuesday at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a tax examiner with the Internal Revenue Service, a member of St. Thomas Church in Fort Thomas, and a Marine Corps veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Blau Combs; daughters, Christine Clark of Cincinnati, Suzanne Kocher of Greenville, N.C., and Kathleen Combs of Fort Thomas; sons, Steven Combs of Lexington and Daniel Combs of Fort Thomas; a sister, Joan Okura of Cincinnati; brothers, Casa Marlin Combs of Franklin, N.C., Douglas Neyman Jr. of Newport and Peter Neyman of Clarksville, Tenn.; and one grandchild.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Thomas Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 7730 U. S. 42, Suite C6, Florence, Ky. 41042; American Diabetes. Association, 8899 Brookside Ave., West Chester, Ohio 45069; or in the form of Masses.

William P. Couch Sr., 63, of Cincinnati, died Monday at his home. He was an employee of C. J. Krehbiel Printing Co., Cincinnati, and a Korean War veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma Louise Wood Couch; sons, William Paul Couch and Mark Edward Couch, both of Ohio, and Jackie Lee Poland of Kentucky; daughters, Stephanie Walz and Beverly J. Walz, both of Ohio, and Debbie Brewer of Grant County; a brother, Edward Couch of Ohio; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Newnam Funeral Home, Beattyville. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Couch Family Cemetery in Beattyville. Charles A. Miller Funeral Home, Cincinnati, is handling local arrangements.

Robert D. Earls, 75, of Covington, died at 8:31 a.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington. He was a retired plant manager with Renton Concrete Products Co. in Seattle, and a Marine Corps veteran of World War II.

Survivors include daughters, Judith Thorpe of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Bonnie Strouse of Brighton, Mich., Karen Houlehan of Villa Hills and Virginia Earls of Seattle; a sister, Vivian Carr of Park Hills; and seven grandchildren.

Graveside services were this morning at Gum Lick Cemetery, Pendleton County. Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown, is handling arrangements.

Anna Lea Garrison, of Hot Springs Village, Ark., formerly of Burlington, died July 17 in Arkansas. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Howard L. Garrison; a son, Howard W. Garrison of Hot Springs Village; a daughter, Donna Henson of Dongola, Ill.; sisters, Hazel Alge of Florence, Elizabeth Ramey of Florence and Ona Shotwell of Sun City, Fla.; and four grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Forest Lawn Mausoleum Chapel, Erlanger. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice. Stith Funeral Home, Florence, is handling arrangements.

Geraldine Wagers Griffin, 47, of Dry Ridge, died at 1:15 p.m. Monday in Dry Ridge in an automobile accident. She was a machine operator with Hillshire Farm and Kahn's Co., Cincinnati, a former truck driver with J. B. Hunt Trucking Co., and a member of Stewartsville Baptist Church, Grant County.

Survivors include her husband, Garry W. Griffin; a daughter, Lisa Case of Dry Ridge; a stepdaughter, Jessica Griffin of Dry Ridge; stepsons, Christopher W. Griffin of Louisville, Rodney D. Griffin of Campbellsburg and Garry W. Griffin Jr. of Dry Ridge; sisters, Mary A. Jones of Berry, Nora Suisse of Honduras, Betty Lewis Fields of Crittenden and Gloria Mae Grim of Dry Ridge; two grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Griffin Family Cemetery, Dry Ridge. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

Paul W. Gunsaulye, 67, of Demossville, died at 4:45 a.m. Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas, after suffering a heart attack earlier in the day. He was retired from American Laundry and Machine Co., Norwood, Ohio.

Survivors include his wife, Anna Mae Lawson Gunsaulye; a daughter, Lynn Peters of Demossville; and five grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery, Pendleton County. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

Irvin Estill Harney, 80, of Cynthiana, died Tuesday in Cynthiana of injuries suffered in a tractor accident. He was a farmer and a member of Republican Christian Church, Harrison County. His wife, Edna Garrison Harney, died in 1975.

Survivors include sons, Marvin Harney and Larry Harney; daughters, Janet Burtram and Linda Ammerman; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery, Cynthiana. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 2312 Alexandria Drive, Lexington, Ky. 40504.

Everett Ledford Jr., 62, of Newport, died at 5:52 p.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. He was a parking attendant with Sagamore Parking, Covington.

Survivors include his wife, Nola Stacey Ledford; a daughter, Kathy Ledford of Newport; and a son, Bobbie Ledford of Louisville.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will begin there at noon Friday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

Eleanor Beatrice North, 84, of Fort Thomas, died at 11:25 a.m. Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Therese Church, Southgate. She was a member of the church Altar Society and Southgate Seniors. Her husband, James I. North, died in 1994.

Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Anderson of Lake Wales, Fla.; sisters, Mabel Higgins of Southgate and Evelyn Luther of Fort Thomas; and five grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Therese Church, Southgate. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas, followed by prayers. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Memorials are suggested to St. Therese Children's Fund, 11 Temple Place, Southgate, Ky. 41071; or Hospice of Northern Kentucky, 1403 Alexandria Pike, Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075.

Randy Lee Rich, 37, of Covington, was found dead July 12 in the back yard of a Banklick Street residence in Covington. He was a roofer with Mel Roofing Co. Survivors include his parents, Harry Rich of Elsmere and Lorraine Rich of Hebron; a son, Dustin Rich of Hazard; daughters, Shannon Brown of Ludlow and Penelope Mason of Covington; brothers, Robert Rich of Taylor Mill and James Rich of Fort Mitchell; sisters, Connie Haywood of Independence, Brenda Bell of Hilton Head, S.C., and Phyllis Dixon of Elsmere; and one grandchild.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Independence Cemetery. Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.

Elsmere's Wanda Harrison loved work with Head Start

Wanda M. Harrison, a retired advocate for Northern Kentucky Head Start and Senior Citizens of Northern Kentucky, died Thursday at her home. She was 69.

The Elsmere woman held various other positions through the Community Action Commission of Northern Kentucky's senior work program. She was a receptionist at the Kenton County Juvenile Court, and she worked for the welfare program.

Yet what she liked most was working with the children and parents in the Head Start program, said her daughter, Cheri Carlotta of Elsmere. She constantly volunteered for fund-raisers for the program that prepares preschoolers for kindergarten.

"When you work with little ones like that and their parents a couple of years, you get attached to them," Ms. Carlotta said. "She just really loved her job."

In failing health, Mrs. Harrison retired from Head Start in April after about five years. In May, she was honored by Head Start for her dedication. The Community Action Commission also recognized her for her work. She also was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Lawler Hanlon VFW Post 5662 in Newport.

Mrs. Harrison grew up in Newport and graduated from Newport High School in 1946. She married her first husband, David Franks of Newport, in 1949. They had five children.

Mrs. Harrison had four more children by her second husband, Lyle Harrison, who died in 1989.

"She was a type of person that never knew a stranger," Ms. Carlotta said. "She always talked to people. She liked people."

Other survivors include daughters, Renee Matthews of Verona, Tammie Franks of Covington, Lisa Ollberding of Dayton; sons, David Franks of Campbell County, Ronald Franks of Alexandria, Richard Harrison of Claryville, Mark Harrison of Elsmere, Kristian Harrison of Newport; a stepson, Les Harrison of Dayton; brothers, Etzel Shields of New Port Richey, Fla., James Shields of Cold Spring and Griffin Carlisle of Highland Heights; 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Radel Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Monday, with VFW services at 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

Emogene Ruth Gould Bridges Bayer, 79, of Cold Spring, died Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.

Grace A. Warner Chumley, 90, of Florence, died at 4:30 a.m. Thursday at her home.

She was a homemaker and a member of Crescent Springs Baptist Church. Her husband, William Chumley, died in 1968.

Survivors include sons, James Chumley and Lou Chumley, both of Crescent Springs; daughters, Jean Kimball of Cincinnati and Ellen Hartley of Erlanger; 22 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Elsmere. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.

Chad Terrill Fain Jr., 2 months, the son of Chad Terrill and Leeanna Jo Cannon Fain of Falmouth, died at 12:27 a.m. Thursday at University Medical Center, Lexington.

Other survivors include brothers, Matthew Brian Fain and Christopher Alex Fain, both at home; grandparents, Barbara Cannon of Falmouth, Cheryl Berry of Atlanta, and Frank Fain of Stockbridge, Ga.; and a great-grandmother, Barbara Sturgil of Cincinnati.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Riverside Ceme tery, Falmouth. Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, is han dling arrangements.

Marva J. Foley, 84, of Augusta, died Wednesday at Extenda Care, Augusta.

She was a homemaker and a member of Augusta Baptist Church. Her husband, Chester Foley, died in 1981.

Survivors include daughters, Ellen Kathleen Chumbley of Augusta and Fena Marie Steele of Lebanon, Tenn.; a son, Dr. Ted H. Foley of Waco, Texas ; sisters, Dot Brock of Cincinnati and Ruth Howard of East Bernstadt; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Lynn Camp Cemetery, Corbin. Metcalfe-Hennessey Funeral Home, Augusta, is handling arrangements.

Allie L. Goodin, 71, of Cold Spring, died at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Point and Citizens Advocacy, both in Covington.

Survivors include her hus band, Robert R. Goodin; and sons, Robert T. Goodin of High land Heights and Rickey L. Goodin of Cold Spring.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. Nick Hanser, 17, of Falmouth, died Thursday at University Medical Center in Lexington of injuries suffered in an auto accident on Ky. 330, southwest of Falmouth.

He would have been a senior at Pendleton County High School in the fall, and was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church, Falmouth. He was a member of 4-H and raced BMX bikes.

Survivors include his parents, Frank and Bethany Hanser of Falmouth; a brother, Frank Hanser of Falmouth; and sisters, Megan Hanser and Christa Hanser, both of Covington, and Sabrina Cain of Crittenden.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Xavier Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. to day at Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth. Burial will be in the Hanser Family Cemetery, Falmouth. Memorials are suggested to Nick Hanser Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home, 407 W. Shelby St., Falmouth, Ky., 41040.
