Helen C. Stevens, 64, of Florence, died at 8:50 p.m. Thursday at her home. She was a cashier with Meijer and Wal-mart stores.

Her husband, Richard Yatz Stevens, died in 1989. Survivors include daughters, Darlene Zerhusen of Florence and Shirley Pennington of Falmouth; a son, Richard Bud Stevens of Cincinnati; brothers, Ralph Moore of Florence and Larry Wayne Moore of Gainesville, Fla.; a sister, Brenda Boyles of Suffolk, Va.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Erlanger, after visitation at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.

Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

Eva Noe Waters, 79, of Walton, died Thursday at her home. She was a cook and caretaker and a member of Walton Christian Church. She was a former member of Johnson-McElroy America Legion Auxiliary, the Walton Fireman's Auxiliary, and a Girl Scout leader.

Her husband, Earl Waters, died in 1970. A son, David Waters, died in 1996. Survivors include a son, George Waters of Florence; a daughter, Betty Hensley of Walton; brothers, George Noe of Walton and Robert Noe of Louisville; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Walton. Burial will be in New Bethel Cemetery, Verona.

Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, 401 E. 20th St., Covington, Ky. 41014.

Marshal Glenn York, 76, of Bromley, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.

He was a Navy veteran.

Survivors include sons, Larry York of Independence and Ray York of Bromley; daughters, Glenna York of Bromley, Joani Schultz of Melbourne, Judy Cooper of Piner and Juanita Rose of Athens, Ala.; stepsons, Charles Garnett of Latonia and Wayne Garrett of Covington; stepdaughters, Jean Sexton of Independence and Janice Sexton of Florence; sisters, Annie Lou Ridgeway of Athens, Ala., Louise Thompson of Anderson, Ala., Nadine Williams of Labelle, Fla., and Carolyn Rose of Athens, Ala.; brothers, Wayne Ridgeway and Dale Ridgeway of Athens, Ala.; 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Church of Christ Nicholson, Independence. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.

Elizabeth Hucker, business pioneer, volunteer

Elizabeth Neff Hucker, a successful beautician and businesswoman and a devoted volunteer, died at 7:20 p.m. Friday at Baptist Convalescent Center in Newport. She was 87.

Ms. Hucker, who spent most of her life in Covington, was a fiercely independent woman who maintained her own beauty shop in downtown Cincinnati for more than 15 years in the 1930s to the 1950s.

At a time when banks rarely gave loans to single women, Ms. Hucker also was able to pur chase the three-family apart ment building where she lived by getting local businessmen to co-sign her loans.

As a single woman, Ms. Hucker enjoyed visit ing with her nieces and nephews. When she was 39, she married F. Edward Hucker, a drug sales man, and turned her energies to homemaking and caring for her only child, Victoria Hucker.

Not only did she cook for her husband and daughter, but for the local Sisters of Notre Dame and her two elderly neighbors, as well.

Every Friday afternoon, Ms. Hucker sent trays of pastries, cakes and casseroles to the convent; each Sunday, she prepared dinners for her neighbors.

A member of the Old Faithful Club at St. Au gustine Church, she also made cakes for church festivals.

In 1963, Ms. Hucker returned to the beauty business as a manicurist in a Cincinnati beauty shop. In 1974, Mr. Hucker died at home.

As a widow, Ms. Hucker continued to work, but also loved to travel. In her 70s, she visited the Eastern Kentucky mountains, New Eng land, the Canadian and Wyoming Rockies, the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, Greece, Egypt and western Europe.

She was a member of Bread for the World, Audubon Society and the National Geographic Society.

Ms. Hucker was diagnosed with pulmonary disease in 1986.

Survivors include her daughter, Victoria Hucker Cimprich of Fort Mitchell.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Augustine Church. A reception will follow the Mass in the church hall. Visita tion will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

Memorials are suggested to Bread for the World, 802 Rhode Island Ave., Washington , D.C. 20018; or St. Augustine Church, St. Augustine Church, 1839 Euclid Ave., Covington, Ky. 41014.

Eleanor B. Barron, 78, of Crescent Springs, died at 12:07 a.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. She was a retired Salem, N.H., town clerk and a past president of the New Hampshire Town Clerks Association.

She was a former president of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a member of First Congregational Church of Salem, N.H. She attended St. Charles Adult Day Care, Fort Wright. Her husband, Robert W. Barron, died in 1948.

Survivors include a son, Douglas T. Barron of Crescent Springs.

Memorial services will at the convenience of the family. Cremation will be at Hillside Chapel, Cincinnati. Memorials are suggested to First Congregation al Church, Lawrence Road, Salem, N.H. 03079. Douglas and Johnson Funeral Home, Salem, N.H., is handling arrangements. Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger, is handling local arrange ments.

Russell "Possum" Brooks, 72, of Walton, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a retired shipping and receiving clerk with O. K. Trucking Co., Cincinnati, a member of Teamsters Union Local No. 100 in Cincin nati, and an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include a son, Edward "Butch" Brooks of Walton; daughters, Karen Brown of Garrett, Ind., Judy Hornsby of Crittenden and Marie Brooks of Florence; sisters, Mamie Cook of Walton and Virginia Holbrook of Canton, Texas ; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home, Verona. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in New Bethel Cemetery, Verona. Memorials are suggested to Muscular Dystrophy Association, 4225 Malsbary Road, Cin cinnati, Ohio 45242.

Watson Kenneth Brown, 28, of Costa Mesa, Calif., formerly of Fort Mitchell, died Thursday in California. He was a manager with Outback Steakhouse in California, and an aspiring actor with a small part in the movie "Armageddon."

Survivors include his parents, Christy W. Band Brown of Villa Hills and Watson S. Brown of Florida; a sister, Cara Bartlett of Alexandria; and a grandfather, Phillip Band of Villa Hills.

Services will be private. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Ludlow. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

Loretta Clark, 85, of Augusta, died Friday at Ephraim McDowell Hospital, Danville. She was retired from F. A. Neider Co., Augusta, and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Au gusta.

Survivors include a nephew, Donald Clark of Russell Springs; and nieces, Janet Shelanie of Crescent Springs and Marcia Faulkner of Hawaii.

Services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Augusta Cemetery. Metcalfe-Hennessey Funeral Home, Augusta, is handling arrangements.

Jane Welch Coldiron, 70, of Crittenden, died at 4:30 p.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a retired secretary with Grant County Extension Service, Williamstown, and a member of Crittenden Baptist Church.

Survivors include her hus band, Archie B. Coldiron Sr.; sons, Robert Michael Givin of Mount Sterling, Charles A. Givin Sr. and Archie B. Coldiron Jr., both of Crittenden; daughters, Judy Sebree of Paris, Ky., Millie Gritton of Lyman, S.C., Karen Colson of Crittenden and Kathy Coldiron of Athens, Ga.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 7730 U. S. 42, Suite C6, Florence, Ky. 41042.

Rita Mae Eades, 64, of DeRidder, La., formerly of Covington, died at 7:20 a.m. Saturday at her home. She was a homemaker, a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in DeRidder, and was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include sons, Rich ard Dale Eades of Ragley, La., John E. Eades of Opelousas, La., and Bobby J. Eades of DeRidder; a daughter, Bonnie L. Stephens of Beaumont, Texas ; her mother, Naomie Gouge of Covington; a sister, Wanda Botkin of Critten den; brothers, Carl Ray Hacker, serving with the military in Italy, and Larry Hacker of Covington; and 10 grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. CDT Tuesday at Hixson Funeral Home in DeRidder. Visitation is from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. today, and from 8 a.m. Tuesday until the time of services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Christie Chapel Cemetery, Emerson, Ark.

William Paul Goodpaster, 71, of Fort Mitchell, died at 10:45 p.m. Friday at his home. He was a retired owner of Goody's Food Market, Ludlow, a real estate investor and a member of Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky Investors Association. He was a former member of St. James Church in Ludlow and the Fort Mitchell County Club, a past president of Ludlow Business Association and the Northern Kentucky Food Dealers Association, and a former member of the Ludlow Zoning Board. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Pat Goodpaster; a son, William Goodpaster of Bonita Springs, Fla.; daughters, Linda Bunning of Florence and Paula Hein of Ludlow; a stepson, Gordon Pow ell of Florida; stepdaughter, Pa mela Lang and Linda Loftus, both of Florida; brothers, Robert Goodpaster of Cincinnati and Thomas Goodpaster of Ludlow; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia. Visita tion will be from 4 to 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home, Entombment will be in Highland Mausoleum, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, 401 E. 20th St., Covington, Ky. 41014.

Marie Irene Gschwind, 89, of Elsmere, died at 3:15 p.m. Saturday at her home. She was a bookkeeper with the Gschwind Plumbing Co., and a homemaker. She was a member of Kento-Boo Baptist Church in Florence, and a former member of Elsmere Baptist Church. Her husband, Austin Gschwind, died in 1988.

Survivors include a son, Eugene Gschwind of Chelmsford, Mass.; daughters, Violet Loftin of Elsmere and Doris Roark of Venice, Fla.; a sister, Freda Newhouse of Harrison, Ohio; a brother, Carl Bonfert of Edgewood; 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

John William Hawkins, 85, of Monterey, died Saturday at Owen County Memorial Hospital, Owenton. He was a farmer and a deacon with Old Cedar Baptist Church, Owenton. He was a Sunday school superinten dent, the church Royal Ambassador leader and church modera tor. Mr. Hawkins was also a member of the Owen County School Board.

Survivors include his wife, Le la Maude Karsner Hawkins; a son, Rev. Everett Hawkins of Monterey; a daughter, Linda Carol Hawkins Twyman of Florence; a half-brother, Albert Hawkins of Frankfort; a half-sister, Virginia Dell Cardwell of Frank fort; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Old Cedar Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 tonight at McDonald Funer al Home, Main Street, Owenton. Burial will be in Monterey Ceme tery. Memorials are suggested to Old Cedar Baptist Church, 1040 Claxton Ridge Road, Owenton, Ky. 40359.

Claire M. Henry, 92, of Lake side Park, died at 5:03 a.m. Sat urday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. She was a retired supervisor with Ohio Surgical Co., Norwood, Ohio. Her husband, William T. Henry, died in 1948. A son, William T. Henry, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, Thomas J. Henry of Florence; 12 grandchildren and 21 great- grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Church, Fort Mitchell. Visitation will begin there at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association, 1885 Dixie Highway, Suite 250, Fort Wright, Ky. 41011.

Billy D. Horn, 49, of Alexandria, died Friday at University Hospital, Cincinnati, of complications of severe burns. He was a shipping and receiving clerk with Procter & Gamble, Cincin nati.

Survivors include a daughter, Tracy Horn-Lay of Alexandria; a son, Bryan Horn of Bellevue; a sister, Debra S. Horn of Cincinnati; and one grandchild.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Radel Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer's Disease Association, 644 Linn St., Cincinnati, Ohio 45203.
