William T. Faulkner, 86, of Edgewood, died at 8 a.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood. He was a retired assistant director of food services for the Kentucky Park Services and a former general manager of Pleasure Isle Club, Twin Oaks Golf Club, Devou Park Golf Course and Club and the Latonia American Legion Hall. He was a member of South Side Baptist Church, Covington Lodge No. 109 F&AM, Latonia American Legion Post No. 203 and the Kenton County Democrat Club. He was a World War II veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Bessie Ashcraft Faulkner.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to South Side Baptist Church Mother Hubbard's Cupboard, 1501 Holman St., Covington, Ky. 41011.

George "Bud" H. Flake, 72, of Kenton County, died at 11:05 a.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He retired from Cincinnati Bell Telephone Co. and was a member of Telephone Pioneers.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Sears Flake; a son, Jack C. Flake of Burlington; a daughter, Peggy Clephane of Independence; a brother, Jack H. Flake of Cincinnati; a sister, Myrl Schroeder of Cincinnati; four grandchildren and four great-grandsons.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Memorials are suggested to Shriners Burns Institute, 3229 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45229; or to charity.

Tristan Bradley Gabbard, 11 months, of Crescent Springs, died Sunday at Children's Hospital, Cincinnati.

Survivors include his parents, Jason Todd Gabbard of Crescent Springs and Riki Theresa Ward of Latonia; grandparents, Pam and Steve Gabbard of Crescent Springs; and great-grandparents, John and Norma Fugazzi of Crescent Springs.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Independence Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Children's Hospital Newborn Intensive Care Unit, 3333 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45229. Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger, is handling arrangements.

Randy E. Hartman, 43, of Covington, died of cancer at 8:49 p.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was an employee of Gibson Greeting Card Co., Covington.

Survivors include his wife, Jenifer Beach Hartman; his parents, Madeline Forwith of Mansfield, Ohio, and Robert E. Lewis of Dry Ridge; half-brothers, Jeff Ball of Galion, Ohio, and Robert Ball of Tampa, Fla., Harold Lewis of Florence, Bobby Lewis of Walton, Donnie Lewis of Crescent Springs, Perry Lewis and Gary Lewis, both of Dry Ridge, and David Lewis of Butler; and sisters, Karen Kisor of Mansfield, Ohio, Shirley Osborne of Jonesville, Nancy Wainscott of Crittenden and Diane Webster of Dry Ridge.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home, Verona. Visitation will begin there at noon Thursday. Burial will be in New Bethel Cemetery, Verona. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 7730 U. S. 42, Suite C6, Florence, Ky. 41042.

John R. Holaday, 81, of Covington, died at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at his home. He was a retired clerk with the U.S. Postal Service, a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Lakeside Park and an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Margaret "Peggy" Louise Holaday, died in 1993.

Survivors include daughters, Barbara Weisbrod of Cincinnati and Lynn Heist of Roswell, Ga.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at the convenience of the family. Mr. Holaday donated his body to the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Memorials are suggested to Wesley Foundation, Northern Kentucky University, Highland Heights, Ky. 41076; or Arthritis Foundation, 7811 Laurel Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45243. Connley Bros. Funeral Home, Latonia, is handling arrangements.

Dolores Holbrook, 70, of Erlanger, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She worked for Disabled American Veterans, Highland Heights, and was a member of the D.A.V. chapter, American Legion Post No. 203 in Covington, Ralph Fulton VFW Post No. 6423 in Elsmere and Ex-Prisoners of War OKI.

Survivors include her husband, Dewey Holbrook; sons, Ronald Holbrook and Edward Lee Roberts, both of Cincinnati; daughters, Wanda Guckiean and Linda Braden, both of Cincinnati; brothers, Billy McMann, James McMann and Bob McMann, all of Dayton, Ohio; sisters, Alice McMann and Gracie McMann, both of Dayton, Ohio; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services were at noon today at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Burial was in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

Orin Tyler "T. J." Jennings, 22, of Owenton, died Sunday at Glen Meadows Nursing Home, Indian Springs, Ohio.

Survivors include his parents, Steve Jennings of Owenton and Margaret Nusca of Louisville; a brother, Zachary Jennings of Owenton; sisters, Rhiannon Jennings of Newport and Stephanie Jennings of Owenton; and grandfather, Louis Nusca of Honolulu, Hawaii.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Cemetery, Morning View. Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence, is handling arrangements.

Anthony Kovacik, 85, of Fort Thomas, died at 5:45 a.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a retired crane operator with Interlake Steel, Wilder.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Kovacik; a daughter, Gail Roderick of Fort Thomas; a sister, Rose Niklas of Cincinnati; a brother, Vincent Kovacik of Highland Heights; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Fort Thomas. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Prayers will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Wilder. Memorials are suggested to St. Catherine of Siena Church, 1803 N. Fort Thomas Ave., Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075.

Alfred Lloyd, 65, of Berry, died Sunday at Georgetown Community Hospital in Georgetown. He was a retired employee with Plastic Molding Co., Cincinnati.

Survivors include his wife, Tedda Marie Lloyd; daughters, Vicky Conover of Gillette, Wyo., and Tina Gentry of Berry; sons, Timmy Lloyd of Cincinnati, Randy Lloyd of Newport and Darryl Lloyd of Cynthiana; brothers, J.C. Lloyd of Cincinnati, Ronnie Lloyd of Newport, Donnie Lloyd of Lexington and Butch Lloyd of Maysville; sisters, Debbie Shackleford of Williamstown, Brenda Reese of Burlington and Martha Frances of Covington; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will begin there at noon Wednesday. Burial will be in Morgan Cemetery, Pendleton County.

Sister Jo Anne McMaster, O.P. (Sister Anthony Marie), 60, of Florence, died of cancer Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a teacher and director of the Office of Pastoral Planning for the Diocese of Covington. She was a former director of management/finance/treasurer for St. Catharine Congregation in St. Catharine, Ky., and served as a former business manager and director of student activities with the Aquinas Institute of Theology in St. Louis.

Survivors include a sister, Helen Brandl; nieces and nephews.

Memorial Mass will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Church, Florence. Burial will be St. Catharine Motherhouse Cemetery, St. Catharine, Ky. Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home, Springfield, is handling arrangements.

Nancy C. Voigt, 60, of Erlanger, died Aug. 3 at her home. She was a cook with Frisch's Restaurant, Erlanger. Her husband, William Voigt, died in 1967.

Survivors include a daughter, Cindi Henry of Elsmere; her mother, Ann Katherine Stork of Newark, Ohio; sisters, Jane C. Baer of Manchester, Mich., and Kathryn Stockdale of Newark, Ohio; and two grandchildren.

Memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Henry Church, Elsmere. Burial will be in Michigan. Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Elsmere, is handling arrangements.

Marie Louise Berling Zepf, 83, of Independence, died Saturday at Deaconess Hospital, Cincinnati. She was a volunteer with the Kenton County Public Library branch in Covington. Her husband, Clifford Zepf, died in 1978.

Survivors include a son, Clifford Zepf II of Cincinnati; a daughter, Carolyn Zepf Hagner of Cincinnati; sisters, Katherine Bieber of Independence, Ruth Berling and Marguerite Spieker, both of Cincinnati, Thelma Johnson and Tecla Stephan, both of Fort Myers, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Memorials are suggested to St. Rita School for the Deaf, 1720 Glendale-Milford Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45215.

William F. Baldwin Sr., helped others overcome alcoholism

For William F. Baldwin Sr., helping people was a way of life.

Mr. Baldwin, an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 38 years, drove around Greater Cincinnati and encouraged people to attend meetings to overcome their disease.

Mr. Baldwin believed each person could deal with their problem and lead productive lives.

But although he fought a serious disease, Mr. Baldwin's life was also filled with laughter, said his daughter, Lynn Baldwin Groh of Cincinnati.

"My dad had a joke for all occasions," Ms. Groh said.

"He used to say, "I can get along with anyone. All I have to do is get them laughing.' "

Mr. Baldwin, 67, of Morning View, died Monday at University Hospital in Cincinnati.

He was a retired heating, ventilation and air conditioning engineer with Xavier University in Cincinnati. He also worked previously at the Kroger Building in downtown Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority.

Mr. Baldwin was a member of Bradford Lodge No. 123 in Independence and the Scottish Rite of Covington. He was a self-taught musician who played the acoustic and electric guitar, the banjo, mandolin and harmonica.

Since his retirement, Mr. Baldwin and his wife, Rosemarie Elliott Baldwin, have traveled to bluegrass and fiddler conventions throughout Kentucky.

A daughter, Tammy Baldwin, died in 1995.

Other survivors include his wife, a son, William F. Baldwin of Morning View; brothers, J. D. Baldwin and Ray Baldwin, both of Independence; and two grandsons.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge.

Memorials are suggested to Walton United Methodist Curch, 68 S. Main St., Walton, Ky. 41094.

Mary Barrow, 77, of Stanwood, Wash., formerly of Latonia, died at 8:10 a.m. Monday in Everett, Wash. She was a retired nurse. Her husband, Herbert Barrow, died in 1976.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Smith of Stanwood; sons, Jeff Barrow of Latonia, Ron Barrow of Erlanger and David Barrow of Independence; a sister, Eileen Binder of Independence; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Floral Hills Cemetery Chapel, Taylor Mill. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery. Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia, is handling arrangements.

James F. Clayton, 82, of Newport, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. He was a station master with Amtrak Railroad, a member of Hebron Masonic Lodge No. 757 and a Navy veteran of World War II. His wife, Martha Clayton, and a daughter, Carol Masters, both preceded him in death.

Survivors include sisters, Sue Eickhoff of Bromley, Martha Daulton of Largo, Fla., Nell Estep of Covington and Betty Carder of Greensburg, Ind.; brothers, Bill Clayton of Hebron and Charles Clayton of Murray; a stepbrother, George Collins of Villa Hills; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Hebron. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Hebron Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Constance Christian Church, Constance, Ky. 41009.
