John Browing, 30, of Latonia, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North of a gunshot wound.

Arrangements are pending at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia.

Cleaon Combs, 78, of Covington, died at 12:03 p.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a retired carpenter and construction worker, and a member of Community Pentecostal Church of God, Taylor Mill.

Survivors include his wife, Nora Combs; a daughter, Lenora Hampton of Ryland Heights; sons, Roger Combs of Battle Creek, Mich., and Donald Combs of Wheat Ridge, Colo.; a stepson, Ronald Holliday of Latonia; nine grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Hallie Ruth Cummins, 75, of Warsaw, died at 10:05 p.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include sons, Pete Bradford and Robert Cummins, both of Covington; daughters, Judy Combs and Diana Ingram, both of Warsaw, Roberta Mathews of Newport and Dawn Ingram of Burlington; brothers, Harlan Iles and Jerry Iles, both of Covington, Harry Iles of Warsaw, Charlie Iles of Independence and Bobby Iles of Latonia; sisters, Betty Casey of Independence, Henrietta Saddleback of Covington, Alberta Clark of Latonia and Lucy Clark Newport; 17 grandchildren and 47 great- grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell.

Lillian Campbell Duncan, 78, of Kentontown, died Monday at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Frank Duncan; daughters, Teresa Kenney of Cynthiana and Joyce McCord of Mt. Olivet; a son, Michael McCord of Gatlinburg, Tenn.; stepdaughters, Barbara Moore and Angie Spencer, both of Georgetown, and Mary Lou Guest of New Ulm, Minn.; a stepson, Franklin Pierce Duncan of Port Orchard, Wash.; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Robertson County Funeral Home, Mt. Olivet. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elizaville Cemetery, Robertson County.

Richard G. Fields, 55, of Covington, died at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. He was a light equipment operator with the Kentucky State Highway department, and a member of Church of Our Savior, Covington, and Ira Elk Lodge, Covington.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Butts Fields; a son, Richard G. Fields II of Cincinnati; daughters, Frances Fields of Louisville, and Chardalta Castleman and Jolanda Fields, both of Covington; brothers, Owen Lewis and Gary Fields, both of Covington, James Lewis and Paul Lewis, both of Cincinnati; sisters, Ina Jean Jasper of Covington, Laverta Walker of Cincinnati, Jessie Williams of Lexington, and Katie Mae Price of Dayton, Ohio; and one grandchild.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Church of Our Savior, Covington. Visitation will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the church, with Elk services at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mary Smith Memorial Cemetery, Elsmere. Jones & Simpson Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.

Helen Grayson, 88, of Covington, died at 6:15 p.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North Hospice, Covington.

Arrangements are pending at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia.

Marguerite M. Mahoney, 104, of Newport, died at 10:30 p.m. Saturday at Lakeside Place Nursing Home, Highland Heights. She was a homemaker and a member of Ladies Auxiliary of Knights of St. John. Her husband, Joseph Mahoney, died in 1962.

Survivors include nieces, Peggy Leighton of Highland Heights and Patricia Mai of Ft. Wright; and a nephew, Larry Wald of Franklin, N.C.

Mass of Christian burial was this morning at St. Stephen Church, Newport. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Ft. Thomas. Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Newport, is handling arrangements.

Verna Hunter McIntosh, 73, of Alexandria, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a retired machine operator with Heekin Can Co., Cincinnati, and a member of Immanuel Church of the Nazarene, Highland Heights. Her husband, Edgar McIntosh, died in 1988. A daughter, Alvina Collins, died in 1948.

Survivors include a son, William McIntosh of Cincinnati; daughters, Joyce Kubicek of Corpus Christi, Texas , and Deborah Creech of Alexandria; three half-sisters, one half-brother, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Radel Funeral Home, Highland Heights. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Deloris Myers, 85, of Caryville, Fla., formerly of Maysville, died at 12:18 p.m. Saturday at DeFuniak Springs Convalescent Center in DeFuniak Springs, Fla. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Ralph Myers, preceded her in death.

Survivors include sisters, Wanda Lee Pribble of Caryville, Fla., and Lola Mae Lennex of Beaufort, S.C.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Brell and Son Funeral Home, Maysville. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Germantown.

Susan Marie Gammon Palmer, 37, of Ft. Thomas, died at 8:30 p.m. Saturday at her home. She was a truck driver.

Survivors include her mother, Betty Seibert Gammon of Ft. Thomas; a sister, Teresa Gammon of Ft. Thomas; and a brother, Stephen Gammon of Deer Park, Ohio.

Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Therese Church, Southgate. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Ft. Thomas. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice. Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Ft. Thomas, is handling arrangements.

Irene H. Banks Prahl, 86, of Mt. Prospect, Ill., died Jan. 27 at Theda Clark Regional Medical Center in Neenah, Wis. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Martin Prahl; a daughter, Karen McKim of Ft. Thomas; sons, Spencer Prahl of Prospect Heights, Ill., and Jerry Prahl of Buffalo Grove, Ill.; brothers, Frank Banks of Chicago and Henry Banks of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; and six grandchildren.

Memorial services were Jan. 28 at Wichmann Funeral Home, Appleton, Wis.

Jim A. Stewart, 39, of Dry Ridge, died at 11:09 a.m. Friday at University Hospital, Cincinnati, of a gunshot wound. He was a mechanic with Bellewood Lanes Bowling Alley, Bellevue.

Survivors include his wife, Melissa Fortner Stewart; daughters, Jennifer and Jessica Stewart of Dry Ridge; a son, Jimmy Stewart of Dry Ridge; his mother, Mary Honaker Scarberry of Dry Ridge; sisters, Renona Perry of Cold Spring and Debbie Johnson of Covington; and a brother, Paul Scarberry of Dayton.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. Virgil Red Turner, 70, of Newport, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas. He was a retired truck driver with Bray Trucking, Campbell County.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Turner; sons, Glen Turner of Butler and Coy W. Turner of Newport; daughters, Wanda Herald, Brenda Miller, Joyce Graham, Bessie Turner and Angela Turner, all of Newport; a brother, Mitchell Turner of Norwood, Ohio; sisters, Ruby Herald of Newport and Lucille Turner of California, Ky.; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Peoples Funeral Home, Grants Lick. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Grants Lick. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hope, 1 W. McDonald Parkway, Maysville, Ky. 41056.

Walter Howard Wright, 86, of Erlanger, died Sunday at Florence Park Care Center, Florence. He was a pipe fitter with Cincinnati Air Conditioning, and a member of First Baptist Church, Ludlow. He was a member of Unity Masonic Lodge No. 478 F&AM, Indra Consistory Scottish Rite and Junior Order of United American Mechanics Bluegrass Lodge No. 40. He also was a member of Pipe Fitters Union Local No. 392, Cincinnati, and Northern Kentucky React. His wife, Willena Wright, died in 1995.

Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl D. Slater of Ross, Ohio; a son, Howard L. Wright of Erlanger; a sister, Mildred Leedom of Cincinnati; a brother, Charles G. Wright of Crescent Springs; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Mausoleum, Erlanger. Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church, 400 Linden Road, Ludlow, Ky. 41016.

Ft. Wright's Vera Webster, aided others

Vera Rankin Webster, of Ft. Wright, was always lending a helping hand.

"She was the type of person that if she had a friend who was ill, she would be the first there to see if she could help them," said her husband, Vincent C. Webster of Ft. Wright.

"She liked people and had a lot of friends."

Mrs. Webster died at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday at St. Charles Care Center in Ft. Wright. She was a retired payroll secretary with Children's Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, and a member of Madison Avenue Christian Church, Covington. She loved her church, Mr. Webster said.

Mrs. Webster was also a member of Emera Chapter No. 392 Order of the Eastern Star, a past national president of Eta Pi Kappa Sorority, and a member of St. Barnabus Conclave of the Red Cross, Louisville.

"She was really a good wife and I really hate to lose her, but the good Lord knows best," Mr. Webster said. "She was a person who loved her home and family. She was a person I really enjoyed being with."

Other survivors include nieces and nephews.

Services will be at noon Friday at Madison Avenue Christian Church, Covington. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington, and from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Friday at the church. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Mausoleum, Erlanger.

Memorials are suggested to Madison Avenue Christian Church Book of Rememberance, 1530 Madison Ave., Covington, Ky. 41011; or Covington Scottish Rite Foundation Inc. for Aphasic and Dyslexic Children, 1552 Madison Ave., Covington, Ky. 41011.
