J. B. Asher, 65, of Pendleton County, died Monday at his home after an extended illness. He was a self-employed pool contractor and owner of Red Eagle Trust Co.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Jones Asher; sons, J. B. Ronald Asher, Walter Samuel Asher and J. B. Donald Asher, all of Williamstown; daughters, Lucy Marie Sullivan, Carol Asher Morris and Ruby Mechelle Asher McClanahan, all of Williamstown; brothers, Jimmy Asher and Bobby Asher, both of Corinth, Jack Asher of Sparta and Pearl Asher of Hyden; sisters, Rosie Collett of Manchester, Betty Nantz of Lehigh, Fla., Bonnie Hoskins of Carrollton, Alice Beers of Warsaw and Daisy James of Elliston; 19 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will be from 3 to 6:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, and from 8:30 p.m. Friday to 3:30 pm. Saturday at his home. Burial will be in the family cemetery at his home.

Paul G. Bens, 72, of Fort Mitchell, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a retired engineer with General Electric, Cincinnati, and a volunteer with St. Elizabeth South. His wife, Judith M. Biesack Bens, died in 1988.

Survivors include a son, Paul G. Bens Jr. of Los Angeles; daughters, Mary Beth Oser of Fort Mitchell, Leslie Ann Peterson of Erlanger and Mary Lou Bens of Warsaw; brothers, George Bens and Robert Bens, both of Cincinnati, and Donald Bens of Elsmere; sisters, Lorraine Mann of California and Carol Wehrman of Utah; and six grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at noon Friday at Blessed Sacrament Church, Fort Mitchell. Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to Diocesan Catholic Children's Home, 75 Orphanage Road, Fort Mitchell, Ky. 41017.

Chester Brown, 61, of Butler, died Tuesday at his brother's home in Falmouth.

Marie Conner, 81, of Hebron, died at 9:55 p.m. Monday at University Hospital, Cincinnati. She was a homemaker and a member of Hebron Lutheran Church and the Hebron Book Club. Her husband, Cecil Conner, died in 1989.

Survivors include sons, John Conner and Dennis Conner, both of Hebron; daughters, June Schaefer of Louisville, Jeanette Tanner of Hebron, Pat Simpson of Southgate and Sherrie Brooks of Surfside, S.C.; a sister, Irene Minton of Madisonville; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hebron Lutheran Church. Visitation will begin there at 1 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Hebron Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Hebron Lutheran Church, 3140 Limaburg Road, Hebron, Ky. 41048. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Hebron, is handling arrangements.

Clarence Franklin Cummins, 78, of Crittenden, died Monday at Grant Manor Health Care Center, Williamstown. He was a farmer. His wife, Eula Mae Cummins, preceded him in death.

Survivors include sisters, Zelma Cummins and Mayme Cummins Turner, both of Florence.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home, Dry Ridge. Visitation will begin there at 1 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge.

Jewell Ferguson, 74, of Newport, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker and a member of New Macedonia Old Regular Baptist Church, Newport. Her husband, William Ferguson, and children, William Louis Ferguson and Rita Dickman, all preceded her in death.

Survivors include sons, Darrell Mobley Ferguson of Corbin, Gary Ferguson of Flittier, Calif., Gregory Ferguson of Newport, Roger Ferguson of Independence, Larry Ferguson of New Richmond, Ohio, Steve Ferguson of Covington and Byron Ferguson of Elwood, Ohio; daughters, Sharon Silcox of El Paso, Texas , Judith Ann Ferguson of Union, Sheila Joan Ferguson and Debbie Jean Clem, both of Newport; 27 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Services were at noon today New Macedonia Old Regular Baptist Church. Burial will be in Vine Street Hill Cemetery, Cincinnati. Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick, is handling arrangements.

Norma Kendall Fogle, 68, of Berry, died Tuesday at Harrison Memorial Hospital, Cynthiana. She was a farmer, a retired employee of Martin's Rest Home in Cynthiana, and a member of Berry Christian Church. Her husband, William Luther Fogle, died in 1976.

Survivors include daughters, Mary Frances Yazell of Berry and Lois Faye Stroub of Cynthiana; a sister, Geneva Sargent of Covington; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Berry. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pythian Grove Cemetery, Cynthiana. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 2312 Alexandria Drive, Lexington, Ky. 40504.

Clara Pauline "Polly" King, 87, of Eaton, Ohio, formerly of Falmouth, died Monday at Heartland of Eaton nursing home. She was a retired employee of Maria-Joseph Living Care Center and a member of Grace Baptist Church, New Lebanon, Ohio. Her husband, Jesse King, and sons, Jerry G. King and Jesse O. "Joe" King, all preceded her in death.

Survivors include daughters, Irma Pribble of Covington, Judith Hickey of New Lebanon, Ohio, and Rita Bellopatrick of Michigan; sons, Jack King of Eaton and Jim King of Falmouth; 15 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will begin there at 2 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth.

Alma May Lockhart, 87, of Latonia, died at 3:10 p.m. Monday at Hospice of Cincinnati. She was a homemaker and a member of First Church of God, Latonia, where she was the church organist. She was a member of Gideons Women's Auxiliary. Her husband, James Kyle Lockhart, died in 1978. A daughter, Shirley L. Garrison, died in 1992.

Survivors include a son, James Kenneth Lockhart of Anderson, Ind.; daughters, Mary McKenney of Fort Thomas and Norma Bretz of Batavia, Ohio; 11 grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Church of God, Latonia. Visitation will begin there at noon Friday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Memorials are suggested to Gideons International, P. O. Box 18488, Erlanger, Ky. 41018; or First Church of God, Southern and Ashland Aves., Covington, Ky. 41015. Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia, is handling arrangements.

Julia Estell Luke, 35, of Covington, died Nov. 16 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington.

Survivors include sons, Robert Luke and Ryan Luke, both at home; a daughter, Sharon Luke of Covington; her mother and stepfather, Essie and Wesley Jones Sr. of Erlanger; brothers, Melvin Luke Jr, Charles Luke and Eugene Luke, all of Erlanger; and stepbrothers, Wesley Jones Jr. and Anthony Crawford, both of Erlanger.

Services were held at 11 a.m. today at Jones and Simpson Funeral Home, Covington. Burial will be in Linden Grove Cemetery, Covington.

Rolin Marksberry, 65, of Independence, died at 1:10 p.m. Monday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was a retired maintenance worker with Morton International in Cincinnati, an Army veteran, and a member of Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Jean Myers Marksberry; daughters, Donna Fry of Erlanger and Melissa Whaley of Independence; sons, Timothy Marksberry of Independence and William Myers of Lawrenceburg, Ind.; brothers, David Marksberry of Covington and Earl Marksberry of Holly Hills, Fla.; a sister, Patricia McGeorge of Louisville; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.

Edwina "Edie" Belcher Masterson, 71, of Highland Heights, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a retired secretary with Baker-Hunt Foundation, Covington, and a member of the American Association of Retired Persons, and First Baptist Church of Newport.

Survivors include brothers, Clifford Belcher of Horseheads, N.Y., and Gary Belcher of Fort Thomas.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Radel Funeral Home, Highland Heights. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas.

Elsie M. Hofstetter McCormick, 82, of California, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker and a member of Carthage Nazarene Church, California.

Survivors include sons, John J. McCormick, Kelly S. McCormick and William A. McCormick, all of California, Orville D. McCormick Jr. of Butler, David L. McCormick of Carrollton and Richard L. McCormick of Newport; a daughter, Violet McCormick Hanes of California; sisters, Ethel Hofer of Cincinnati and Hazel Hofer, both of Cincinnati; brothers, Fred Hofstetter of Williamstown and Herman Hofstetter of Alexandria; 18 grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.

Ruth Field Royse, 90, of Brooksville, died Tuesday at Meadowview Regional Medical Center, Maysville. She was a retired teacher with Bracken County Schools, and a member of Bracken County Retired Teachers Association and Triumph Christian Church, Brooksville. Her husband, Eugene F. Royse, died in 1986.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Moore and Parker Funeral Home, Brooksville. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Brooksville Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Triumph Christian Church, Parina Road, Brooksville, Ky. 41004.

Anita Schmidt, 66, of Alexandria, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a retired employee of Disabled American Veterans, Cold Spring, and a member of Grants Lick Baptist Church. A son, Kenneth Schmidt, died in 1983.

Survivors include her husband, William Schmidt; daughters, Belinda Johnson of Highland Heights, Billie Weckbach and Bonita Miller, both of Grants Lick, Beverly Clarkson of West Carrollton, Ohio, and Barbara Johnson of Cold Spring; a sister, Jenny Drew of Burlington; a brother, Kenneth Duvall of Ohio; 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 8 tonight at Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick. Visitation will begin there at 4 p.m. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery.

Nelson Reese, expert fisherman

The taxidermy in Nelson Reese's Fort Wright home was testimony to his proficiency with a fishing rod.

"He's got them (fish) mounted on the wall. More than me," said his son, Jack Reese of Florence.

The father-and-son duo traversed 10 states as far south as Florida and east to Virginia on annual fishing trips.

"We took a week every year and went fishing up until he was 87 years old," Jack Reese said.

Mr. Reese, 93, of Fort Wright, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.

He was a retired maintenance worker with the Terrace Hilton Hotel, Cincinnati, and a member of Elsmere Baptist Church and Senior Citizens of Elsmere. His wife, Maude Adams Reese, died in 1995.

Mr. Reese was born in Virginia and moved to Fort Wright decades ago, his son said.

He faithfully attended services at Elsmere Baptist for 25 years or more, his son said.

Mr. Reese was often seen rooting for his beloved Cincinnati Reds.

"He was a die-hard Reds fan. Winning or losing, he was right there with them," his son said.

Mr. Reese made many friends through church and his membership at the senior center, where he participated in many activities.

Also surviving is a daughter, Louise J. Watkins of Fort Wright.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association, 1885 Dixie Highway, Suite 250, Fort Wright, Ky. 41011.
