Herbert Adkins, 74, of Ludlow, died Wednesday at Communicare of Clifton Care Center in Cincinnati. He was a retired truck driver for F.J. Boutell Co., Detroit. He was a member of Rehovath Mission, Portsmouth, Ohio; and Elks Lodge, Portsmouth, Ohio. His wife, Marion Adkins, died in 1996.

Survivors include a son, James Adkins of Cincinnati; daughters, Ruth Pederson and Patricia Adkins, both of Ludlow; and one grandchild.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Roger Davis Funeral Home, Portsmouth, Ohio. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Scioto Cemetery, McDermott, Ohio. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association, 2936 Vernon Place, Cincinnati, Ohio 45219. Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow, is handling local arrangements.

Albert Newt Anness, 79, of Warsaw, died at 10:20 p.m. Wednesday at Gallatin Health Care Center in Warsaw.

Arrangements are pending at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown.

Wendell A. "Little Wendell" Bell II, 21, of Latonia, died from injuries sustained in an auto accident Tuesday on eastbound Interstate 275 at Reed Hartman Highway in Sharonville, Ohio. He worked in auto collection for Action Auto Recovery, Cincinnati, and played the drums at Church of God Trinity Assemblies, Covington, where his father serves as a minister.

Survivors include his parents, the Rev. Wendell Bell Sr. and Shirley Bell of Latonia; a brother, Claude Bell of Bellevue; a sister, Belinda Dungan of Erlanger; grandmothers, Julia Gadd of Florence and Anna Owens of Elsmere; and his fiance, Marie Lewis of Latonia.

Services will be at 8 p.m. Friday at Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Elsmere-Erlanger. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hebron Lutheran Cemetery, Hebron.

Charles Clifford B'Hymer, 68, of Covington, died at 5 p.m. Monday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas.

He was a retired employee of O.K. Trucking Co. and an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of First Evangelical Methodist Church, Latonia.

A son, Charles B'Hymer Jr., preceded him in death.

Survivors include a son, Clayton B'Hymer of Walton; his mother, Nellie Lombardo of Cold Spring; and a brother, Rev. Floyd B'Hymer of Salem, Va.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery.

Arnold Coleman, 78, of Butler, died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a retired coal miner.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice Coleman; a son, Keith Coleman of Butler; daughters, Debbie Blankenship of Phelps, Gladys Poe and Sherry Sampson, both of Butler, and Sharon Partin of Lexington; sisters, Maedell Lee of Mentor and Alice Stump of Phelps; 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Peoples Funeral Home, Grants Lick. Visitation will begin there at noon Friday. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery, Mentor.

Austa Kearns McNees, 99, of Cynthiana, died Wednesday at Edgemont Manor Nursing Home in Cynthiana. She was a homemaker and a member of First Church of God, Cynthiana. Her husband, Raymond McNees Sr., and a daughter, Dorothy Whalen, both preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, Raymond McNees Jr. of Cynthiana; a daughter, Virginia Judy of Cynthiana; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery, Cynthiana. Memorials are suggested to First Church of God Building Fund, N. Main St., Cynthiana, Ky. 41031.

Robert L. Pennington, 66, of Williamstown, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington. He was a mechanic for Cherokee Auto Parts and Cherokee Recycling, Williamstown, and was a member of Stewartsville Baptist Church, Williamstown.

Survivors include his wife Lucy Abercrombie Pennington; daughters, Suzann Pennington of Williamstown and Victoria Kelly of Richwood; a son, Christopher Pennington of Florence; a sister, Nora Singleton of Annville; brothers, Edward Pennington of Burning Springs and Ray Pennington of Tyner; stepbrothers, Billy Halcomb, Ralph Halcomb and Bobby Halcomb, all of Annville; a stepsister, Mary Lou Halcomb of Berea; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Crittenden. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Crittenden Cemetery.

Grace Virginia James Tracy, 92, of Southgate, died Wednesday at Lakeside Place Nursing Home in Highland Heights. She was a retired school teacher for the Newport Board of Education and a member of Bellevue PTA, Bellevue High School Alumni Association and National Education Association. Her husband, Clifford Tracy, died in 1995.

Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Ratterman of Southgate; a son, Guy Tracy of Fairfield, Ohio; a sister, Edith Oldendick of Highland Heights; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

Ruth Wilson, 80, of Edgewood, died at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bethesda-Dilworth Nursing Home in St. Louis, Mo. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Robert T. Wilson, died in 1980.

Survivors include sons, Robert N. Wilson of Hopewell, N.J., and John A. Wilson of St. Louis, Mo.; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Ludlow. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hebron Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 7730 U. S. 42, Suite C6, Florence, Ky. 41042.

Family, fishing brought joy to Leonard "Bud' Baynum

After retiring in October, Leonard J. "Bud" Baynum bought a boat that he planned to use on frequent fishing excursions with his nephews and grandchildren.

The avid sportsman went fishing every week, said his niece, Candy Herndon of Covington.

"Fishing and his family, that's what he loved," she said.

"He loved having his family around, especially on Christmas Eve. We had a big party every Christmas Eve, and that was his present to himself."

But Mr. Baynum died before he could enjoy his retirement to its fullest.

The Covington resident died at 10:55 p.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington.

He was 63.

Mr. Baynum worked for 30 years at RADAC Co. in Dayton, where he was in inventory control. Prior to that, he worked for eight years as an assistant parts manager for a Buick dealership in Covington.

Raised in Covington, Mr. Baynum went to Holmes High School and married his wife, Emily E. Baynum, in 1959.

Other survivors include his wife; a son, Larry Dailey of Union; daughters, Emily E. Lawson of Hamilton, Ohio, and Mary Jo Mullen of Pasadena, Calif.; a brother, William R. Baynum of Latonia; a half-brother, Leonard J. Baynum of Hamilton, Ohio; a half-sister, Margie L. Rose of Dayton, Ohio; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association, 1885 Dixie Highway, Suite 250, Fort Wright, Ky., 41011; or the American Diabetes. Association, 721 W. Main St., Louisville, Ky., 40202.

Jeannette Colgan Allison, 71, of Mays Lick, died at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Meadowview Regional Medical Center, Maysville, after an extended illness.

She was a member of Flemingsburg First Presbyterian Church and Mays Lick Presbyterian Church; and a member of the Mays Lick Homemakers, the William Dudley Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Buffalo Trace Daughters of American Colonists.

Survivors include a son, Charles E. Allison Jr. of Mays Lick; daughters, Sharon Swisher of Maysville and Janet Allison Mitchell of Charleston, W.Va.; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Palmer Funeral Home, Mays Lick. Visitation will begin there at noon Saturday. Burial will be in Mays Lick Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes. Association, 721 W. Main St., Louisville, Ky., 40202.

Survivors include sons, Al Anness Jr. of Florence and Allen Anness of Erlanger; a daughter, Sadie Harris of Hebron; stepsons, Wayne Lafferty of Lebanon, Ohio, and Ken Lafferty of Willis, Texas ; a sister, Emily Pigg of O'Fallon, Ill.; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in New Vine Run Cemetery, Dry Ridge.

M. Loree Jordan Boothe Kessler, 92, of Covington, died Thursday at her home.

She was a retired sales clerk and a member of Branch Hill Church of Christ. Her husband, Earl Kessler, and sons, Kenneth J. Boothe and Robert L. Boothe, all preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, Raymond A. Boothe of Coving ton; a sister, Mary L. Winters of Norwood, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Moore and Parker Funeral Home, Augusta. Visitation will begin there at noon Saturday. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Augusta.

Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, 401 E. 20th St., Covington, Ky., 41014.

Russell W. Losey, 35, of Highland Heights, died Thursday at his home.

He was a welder with Jero Inc., Elsmere, and a member of Cantuc's Primitive Weapons Club and the O.K. Horseshoe Club. Survivors include his parents, Ronald Losey of Highland Heights and Betty Losey of Er langer; sisters, Penny Caudill of Fort Thomas and Peggy Kroger of Cold Spring; and a grandmother, Marie Losey of Newport.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas.

Claire Marie Joy Mills, 70, of Lexington, formerly of Cynthiana, died Wednesday at University Medical Center in Lexington.

She was a former owner of Claire Marie's Beauty Salon, a hall receptionist at the University of Kentucky's Blanding Hall II and Kirwan Tower I, and a former member of St. Peter Claver Church in Lexington. Her husband, John A. Mills Jr., and a son, Patrick Mills, both preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, John A. "Jack" Mills III of Lexington; and a sister, Katherine A. Perraut of Cynthiana.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Edward Church, Cynthiana. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Burial will be in St. Edward Cemetery, Cynthiana.
