Riley Watson, 80, of Owenton, died Friday at Baptist East Hospital, Louisville. He was a farmer. A son, Robert Carl Watson, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Eliza Nuby Watson; sons, Robert L. Watson of Korea and Riley Watson Jr. of Shelby County; a sister, Bessie Berry of Cincinnati; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at McDonald Funeral Home, Seminary Street, Owenton. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Owenton. Memorials are suggested to Second Baptist Church of Owenton, E. Seminary Street, Owenton, Ky. 40359.

Mattie Welch, 99, of Chattanooga, Tenn., formerly of Owen County, died Saturday in Chattanooga. She was a homemaker and a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Owenton. Her husband, John Welch, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, James Welch of Cincinnati; a daughter, Beatrice Arnold of Chattanooga; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services were at 1 p.m. today at McDonald Funeral Home, Owenton. Burial was in IOOF Cemetery, Owenton. Memorials are suggested to Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Pleasant Home Road, Owenton, Ky. 40359.

Freda Noe Woodson, 106, of Fort Mitchell, died at 2:55 a.m. Saturday at Lakeside Place Nursing Home, Highland Heights. She was a former member of Ludlow Christian Church. Her husband, Henry C. Woodson, died in 1975. A daughter, Edna Mae Bramlage, died in 1994.

Survivors include four grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Visitation will begin there at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.

Terry S. Byrne, Conner student, helped friends troubled by life

Terry S. Byrne was the friend other teens would go to when they needed to talk out their troubles.

'He was real astute about helping people through their problems,' said his stepfather, Stewart Selby. 'He had a big shoulder, and he didn't mind sharing it.'

Mr. Byrne, 18, of Lakeside Park, was killed Monday morning in an automobile accident on the ramp from Interstate 75 to I-275 in Erlanger.

He was a senior at Conner High School in Hebron, where he was an honor student who loved math, music, animals and the outdoors.

'He was kind and sensitive - he loved his cat,' Mr. Selby said. 'He'd be embarrassed if he heard me say that, but he did. He was a young man who enjoyed life. He was one of those few, rare people who nobody had a bad thing to say about.'

Other survivors include his mother, Robin C. Harper of Lakeside Park; his father, Terry S. Byrne of Walton; a sister, Carisa Selby of Lakeside Park; and a grandfather, L. C. Harper of Louisville.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Burlington. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Cremation will be at Hillside Chapel, Cincinnati. Memorials are suggested to Terry Byrne Memorial Fund for Conner High School, in care of Hebron Deposit Bank, 2652 North Bend Road, Hebron, Ky. 41048.

Betty Marsh Branum, 91, of Glencoe, died at 7:20 p.m. Monday at Owen County Memorial Hospital in Owenton. She was a homemaker and a member of New Bethel Baptist Church, Verona.

Survivors include a stepdaughter, Jewel Simpson of Glencoe; stepsons, Charles Branum of Pensacola, Fla., and William Branum Jr. of Sharonville, Ohio; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home, Verona. Visitation will begin at noon Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in New Bethel Cemetery, Verona. Memorials are suggested to Belleview Baptist Church, 6658 5th St., Belleview, Ky. 41080.

Fay Danner Cayton, 85, of Carrollton, died Monday at Green Valley Health Care Center in Carrollton. She was a retired telephone operator and a member of Carrollton United Methodist Church and Carrollton Order of the Eastern Star. Her husband, Philip Cayton, died in 1989.

Survivors include a son, Terry Cayton of Clinton, Tenn.; a daughter, Patsy Abrams of Louisville; and a sister, Eula Marlette of Frankfort.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Graham-Dunn Funeral Home, Carrollton. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Carrollton.

Rose Mary Cetrulo, 95, of Cincinnati, formerly of Covington, died at 3:30 a.m. Monday at Little Sisters of the Poor, Cincinnati. She was a retired clerk with Children's Hospital, Denver.

Survivors include nephews, Robert C. Cetrulo of Covington and Nick Cetrulo of Dunedin, Fla.; a niece, Joan Cetrulo Andrews of Tampa, Fla.; 15 great-nieces and nephews and four great-great-nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Little Sisters of the Poor Chapel, Cincinnati. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to Northern Kentucky Right to Life, 509 Scott Blvd., Covington, Ky. 41011. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.

Clifford B. Connett, 82, of Southgate, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a meat checker with Kahn's Meats, Cincinnati, a member of St. Therese Church in Southgate and an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Sylvia Connett of Southgate; a daughter, Dixie Lee Spegal of Alexandria; a sister, Anna M. Millcock of Highland Heights; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Therese Church. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas, is handling arrangements.

Barbara Cooper, 64, of Ludlow, died Sunday at her home. She was a member of Church of Latter Day Saints, Fort Mitchell, and American Association of Retired Persons.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond Cooper; sons, Gary Cooper and James Cooper, both of Covington, and Bobby Cooper of Ludlow; daughters, Mary Gail Lloyd of Ludlow, Marti Aldstadt of Buffalo, N.Y., Dorothy Ann Ray of Gilbert, Ariz., Paula Jane Ough of Decatur, Texas , and Tennie Jo Cooper of Roanoke, Va.; brothers, Bill Webb of Cincinnati and Richard Webb of Batavia, Ohio; sisters, Frankie Williams and Gail McPhee, both of Riverside, Calif.; 20 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Visitation will begin there at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Northern Kentucky, 1403 Alexandria Pike, Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075.

Joseph P. Finnell, 92, of Demossville, died Sunday at his home. He was a retired carpenter with Durr Construction Co. and a member of Wilmington Baptist Church, Morning View. His first wife, Doris Cook Finnell, died in 1955.

Survivors include his wife, Lela Finnell; daughters, Rosella Spaulding of Demossville and Jo Ann Rector of Ashland, Va.; seven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Kelcie Sue Gabbard, 9 1/2 weeks, of Trotwood, Ohio, died at 7 a.m. Sunday at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton, Ohio.

Survivors include her parents, Troy Gabbard of Covington and Paula Scothorn of Trotwood, Ohio; a brother, Troy Gabbard of Trotwood, Ohio; grandparents, Bill and Jennifer Gabbard of Covington, and Steve and Candy Scothorn of Trotwood, Ohio; and great-grandparents, Roy Gabbard of Covington, Danny Sparks of Trotwood, Ohio, Barbara Humphrey of Dayton, Ohio, Charlie and Edna Scothorn of West Carrollton, Ohio, and Doloris Humphrey of Trotwood, Ohio.

William David Hensley, 42, of Covington, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a self-employed carpenter with All Pro Carpentry and a member of Community Pentecostal Church, Independence.

Survivors include his wife, Corinne Perry Hensley; sons, Kurtis Hensley and Kris Hensley, both of Atlanta; daughters, Kathleen Hensley and Kelly Hensley, both of Covington; his parents, Billy Hensley of Latonia and Shirley Conley of Covington; sisters, Barbara Hacker of Elsmere, Nancy Cook of Indianapolis and Verna Dawson of Covington; and brothers, Jeff Conley of Dayton, Guy Conley of Crittenden, Mike Hensley of Independence, Teddy Hensley of Lexington, Shane Hensley and Brandon Hensley, both of Latonia.

Katherine M. Hilen, 73, of Covington, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington. She was a retired cook with Pompilio's Restaurant, Newport.

Survivors include her husband, Dudley Hilen; sons, Emmette Walthers of Erlanger and Michael Moore of Fort Mitchell; a daughter, Norma Davison of Melbourne, Fla.; a brother, Emmette Louden of Union; nine grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

Thomas C. Hoffman, 52, of Covington, died at 6:15 p.m. Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a bus boy at Max & Erma's Restaurant and Keeneland Race Track, both in Lexington.

Survivors include his mother, Mary Hoffman of Highland Heights; a sister, Sue Dance of Cold Spring; and brothers, Joe Hoffman and John Hoffman, both of Fort Thomas.

Emily Ruth Houp, 93, of Ludlow, died Monday at Carmel Manor Nursing Home, Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker and a member of First Presbyterian Church of Ludlow. Her husband, Robert W. Houp, died in 1969. A son, Robert E. Houp, died in 1996.

Survivors include a daughter, Virginia Weaver of San Diego; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

William B. LeMaster, 80, of California, died at 2:05 a.m. Saturday at Alois Alzheimer Center, Cincinnati. He was director of education for United Auto Workers Region 2A.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Hart LeMaster; sons, William LeMaster Jr. of California, David LeMaster of Alaska and Jonathan LeMaster of Newport; daughters, Candace L. Sutton of Augusta, Mercedes Bonnie Bridges of Latonia and Lisa Wolf of California; a sister, Alma Rust of Ryland Heights; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
