Corda W. Sparks, 83, of Latonia, died at 9:45 a.m. Friday at Woodspoint Nursing Home, Florence. He was a self-employed construction contractor and an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Jennie Sparks; sons, Dennis J. Sparks of West Covington and Edward Sparks of Newnan, Ga.; stepsons, Daniel Caudell Jr. of Edgewood, David P. Caudell of Dayton, Ohio, and Don Caudell of Covington; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and 9:30 a.m. Wednesday until the time of services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association, 1885 Dixie Highway, Suite 250, Fort Wright, Ky. 41011.

Emma Louise Stethen, 54, of Carrollton, died Sunday at Norton Hospital, Louisville. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church, Carrollton.

Survivors include her husband, Clyde Stethen; a daughter, Jennifer Scott of Cincinnati; a son, Troy Stethen of Carrollton; sisters, Ola Mae Heitzman of Orlando, Fla., Margaret Stethen and Anna Lee Frazier, both of LaGrange; brothers, Joe Clark of LaGrange, John Clark of New Castle and Jim Clark of Clarksville, Ind.; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, Carrollton. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Carrollton.

Jeffrey Daniel Sullivan, the son of Harmon Sullivan and Stephanie Capito, both of Walton, was stillborn Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence.

Other survivors include a sister, Rachel Sullivan of Williamstown; and a brother, Harmon Sullivan Jr. of Williamstown.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at East Bend Cemetery, Boone County. Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence, is handling arrangements.

Ferdinand Henry Wagner, 87, of Bellevue, died Friday at his home. He was an accountant, and a member of Catholic Order of Foresters of St. Stephen Church, Holy Name Society, and Bellwood Lanes Senior Bowling League. He was a eucharist minister and a member of Sacred Heart Church, Bellevue. A daughter, Barbara Ann Wagner, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma Wagner; sons, Dr. Louis K. Wagner of Houston, Frederick R. Wagner of St. Louis and Thomas J. Wagner of Cincinnati; sisters, Bernadette Deavy of Fort Thomas, Erma Gausepohl of Covington and Thelma 'Sis' Lear of Newport; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Northern Kentucky, 1403 Alexandria Pike, Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075; or Sacred Heart Church, 318 Division St., Bellevue, Ky. 41073.

Eflon B. Williams Wilson, 57, of Lexington, formerly of Cynthiana, died Sunday at Pine Meadows Nursing Home in Lexington. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her daughters, Deborah Jean Farris of Lexington, Tonia Renee Vaughn and Crystal Dawn Sexton, both of Stamping Ground; her parents, Harry Allen and Sue Christine Whalen Williams of Cynthiana; brothers, Richard Thomas Williams of Lexington and Mark Todd Williams of Cynthiana; a sister, Joyce Allen Alexander of Carlisle; and six grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery, Cynthiana. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 508 E. Pike St., Cynthiana, Ky. 41031.

Harold K. 'Lum' Workman, 71, of Falmouth, died Sunday at his home.

James Hartberger Sr., served youth, nation

James E. Hartberger Sr. was a successful Park Hills businessman and a World War II veteran who took time to coach youth sports and serve as a scoutmaster.

'He just had a burden for youth,' said Mr. Hartberger's son, Jim Hartberger of Richwood.

James Hartberger Sr., 76, died Sunday at Veterans Administration Hospital in Cincinnati.

Mr. Hartberger was born and reared in Goshen, Va.

He served in the Army during World War II in Okinawa, Japan and the Philippines. He was a past commander of Park Hills VFW Post No. 1484.

'He was proud to be an American,' his son said.

Mr. Hartberger was an electrical contractor, founding Reliable Electric Co. in Park Hills in 1958 and retiring two years ago.

He was a scoutmaster with Boy Scout Troop No. 705 in Park Hills from 1955 to 1960. He coached youth softball and basketball in a Lutheran church league from 1958 to 1966.

'He just loved youth. Anything to help the youth,' said Jim Hartberger.

'One of the reasons he did that was for the (Children's Home of Northern Kentucky in Devou Park). He picked those children up and took them to games.'

Mr. Hartberger was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Edgewood and a man of strong faith, his son said.

Mr. Hartberger Sr. is survived by his wife of 30 years, Louise Anhofer Hartberger.

Other survivors include a daughter, Janice Knapmeyer of Clearwater, Fla.; a brother, Kenneth Hartberger of Festus, Mo.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Edgewood. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Erlanger.

Memorials are suggested to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 2718 Dixie Highway, Edgewood, Ky. 41017; Heritage Assembly of God, 7216 U.S. 42, Florence, Ky. 41042; or Veterans Administration Nursing Home, 1000 S. Fort Thomas Drive, Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075.

Melvin Stanley Allender, 53, of Falmouth, died Saturday at University Medical Center, Lexington.

Survivors include his mother, Aileen Pugh Allender of Highland Heights; and sisters, Wanda Zumwalt of Taylor Mill, Ruth Cookendorfer of Cynthiana, Linda Yoakum of Raymore, Mo., and Vicky Call of Newport.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will begin there at noon Wednesday. Burial will be in Lenoxburg Cemetery, Bracken County.

Mary E. Geimeier Brown, 80, of Fort Mitchell, died at 2:05 p.m. Monday at Highlands of Fort Thomas Nursing Home. She was a homemaker and a member of the old Grace United Church of Christ in Covington. Her son, David Brown, died in 1986.

Survivors include her husband, George H. Brown of Fort Mitchell; a daughter, Lois Hicks of Fort Mitchell; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Eugene Robert Crim, 58, of Covington, died at 4:41 p.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington. He was a disabled roofer with Cincinnati Roofers Union.

Survivors include daughters, Angie Crim of Jacksonville, Fla., Pamela Wingerberg and Gina Rose Crim, both of Cincinnati; brothers, John Crim and Steve Crim, both of Covington, and Ron Crim of Cincinnati; and sisters, Beverly Davis of Covington, Sanra Bloomer and Patricia Hargis, both of Cincinnati.

Private services will be at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington. Cremation will be at Cincinnati Cremation Co.

Everett Deaton, 69, of Newport, died at 11:55 p.m. Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a retired molder with Reliable Castings Co., Cincinnati. His wife, Roysline Deaton, died in 1992.

Survivors include sons, Michael Deaton of Newport and Lannie Deaton of Norwood, Ohio; and two grandchildren.

Edith R. Dunn, 92, of Florence, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. She was a bookkeeper with Kresge Five & Dime Store, Covington, and a member of Lakeside Christian Church, Lakeside Park. Her husband, Orville Dunn, died in 1965. Her daughter, Beverly Jean Booker, died in 1997.

Survivors include sisters, Ethel Bryson of Fort Thomas and Lavern Heuser of Hebron; a brother, Harold Rhodes of Anderson, S.C.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Virginia Lucille Fagan England, 74, of Cynthiana, died Sunday at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Cynthiana. She was a retired employee of the hospital, a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and Harrison Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband, Herbert England; sons, Anthony Wayne England of Owenton and Joseph Robert England of Cynthiana; a sister, Freda Fagan of Lexington; and three grandchildren.

Georgia Finfrock, 86, of Vevay, Ind., formerly of Erlanger and Fort Mitchell, died at 8:15 p.m. Sunday at Swiss Villa Living Center, Vevay. She was a homemaker and a member of Erlanger United Methodist Church. Her husband, John Finfrock, died in 1992.

Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Carl of Lake Placid, Fla.; sons, Jack Finfrock of Cincinnati and Michael Finfrock of Independence; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Helen E. Flanigan, 77, of Highland Heights, died at 6:20 p.m. Friday at Lakeside Place Nursing Home in Highland Heights. She was a retired nurse with local nursing homes and hospitals, and was an Army veteran of World War II. Her husband, Walter Flanigan, died in 1983.

Survivors include daughters, Marguerite Louise Gilbert of Cold Spring and Judy A. Evans Mullins of Cincinnati; two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Rippley Flinker; a son, Jack Flinker of New Tazewell, Tenn.; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Lola I. Hamilton, 85, of Brooksville, died Saturday at Meadowview Regional Medical Center, Maysville. She was a homemaker and a member of Forest Hill Baptist Church, Bracken County. Her husband, Henry Hamilton, died in 1979.
