Goldie Newkirk McKinley, 84, of Florence, died Wednesday at Columbia Health Care Center, Cincinnati.

Arrangements are pending at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth.

George A. Moore, 84, of Latonia, died at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. He was a retired factory worker with Stewart Iron Works, Covington. His wife, Bessie Scott Moore, preceded him in death.

Survivors include a son, Jerry Moore of Augusta, Ga.; daughters, Wanda Wells of West Columbia, S.C., and Shirley Bowling of Crescent Springs; a brother, Carl Moore of Latonia; sisters, Gladys Cobb and Mabel Mabes, both of Latonia; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Poplar Grove Cemetery, Owen County.

Patricia Audra Thornton Nickoson, 49, of Foster, died Tuesday at University Hospital, Cincinnati, after being struck by a pickup truck Monday along the AA Highway in Bracken County. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Hubert Lee Nickoson; a daughter, Karen Lee Nickoson Nelson of Foster; her mother and stepfather, Gladys Marion and David Thomas Yates of Foster; brothers, Franklin Thornton of Maysville and Jake Thornton of Alexandria; sisters, Mildred Hiles and Bonnie Jarvis, both of Foster, and Thelma Meadows of Butler; three step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Moore and Parker Funeral Home, Augusta. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lenoxburg Cemetery, Foster.

Eugene Kyle Reedy Jr., 59, of Crestview, died Tuesday at his home.

He was a retired hospital administrator.

Survivors include his wife, Kay Reedy; a son, 1st Lt. Adam Reedy, U.S.A.F. stationed in San Antonio; a daughter, Heather Stuempel of Ft. Thomas; his mother, Raye Reedy of Martinsville, Va.; and a sister, Carolyn Merson of Martinsville, Va.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Radel Funeral Home, Highland Heights. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Ft. Thomas.

Thelma Lee Roosa, 98, of Prairie Du Chien, Wis., formerly of Newport, died Wednesday in Prairie Du Chien. She was a homemaker. Her husband, James Roosa, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a sister, Mary Knauer of Wilder.

Services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church, 1031 Alexandria Pike, Ft. Thomas, Ky. 41075. Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Ft. Thomas, is handling arrangements.

Mary Simons, 85, of Newport, died Wednesday at her home. She was a retired journalist with the Allegan, Mich., County Gazette, and a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Allegan, Mich. Her husband, John L. Simons, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, John L. Simons V of Colorado Springs, Colo.; daughters, Mary Lynn Simons of Santa Cruz, Calif., and Deborah Simons-Reeves of Newport; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at the convenience of the family. Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow, is handling arrangements.

Alma P. Richard Smith, 86, of Newport, died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas. She was a homemaker and a member of Corpus Christi Church, Newport. Her husband, William Smith Sr., died in 1987.

Survivors include sons, William Smith Jr. of Newport and Daniel Smith of Glencoe; daughters, Jeannine Sanzere and Judy Whitehead, both of Newport; sisters, Florence Ailles and Dorothy Rodgers, both of Newport, and Marian Richard of Dayton; a brother, Joseph Richard of Alexandria; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Corpus Christi Church, Newport. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Ft. Thomas. Radel Funeral Home, Newport, is handling arrangements.

Margaret Whitehead, 83, of Charlotte, N.C., formerly of Newport, died Monday at White Oak Manor Nursing Home in Charlotte. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a daughter, Patsy Brinker of Matthews, N.C.; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Evergreen Cemetery Chapel, Southgate. Radel Funeral Home, Newport, is handling arrangements.

Rosemary Wolnitzek, 46, of Latonia, died at 8:04 p.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a medical secretary with Dr. James A. Schroer, Newport.

Survivors include a son, Franklin Wolnitzek of Latonia; a daughter, Christie Wolnitzek of Latonia; a brother, Lawrence Wolnitzek of Latonia; sisters, Harriett Smith of Edgewood and Janet Deck of Burlington; and two grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Church, Latonia. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Ft. Wright.

Wayne Gambrell, devoted to children

Wayne Gambrell loved nothing better than spending time with his family.

He loved to go fishing or to a park with his stepchildren's sons, daughters and grandchild ren.

"His step-grandchildren - he had, I think 12, and 13 great-grandchildren - he'd go to parks with them, take them fishing, he'd play games with them," said a stepdaughter, Carol Bitter of Covington.

"He just loved to play with them."

Mr. Gambrell, of Covington, died Monday at the Dupree Community in Cincinnati, where he had loved since a stroke in 1983. He was 67.

He grew up in Cincinnati and went into the Army in the late 1940s. He was discharged in 1957, after receiving an occupational medal for his service in Japan and a bronze star, Ms. Bitter said.

When he returned home, he worked as a maintenance worker for the Disabled American Veterans organization in Cincinnati and in Cold Spring. After about 10 years there, he got a job with ADP Accounting and Payroll Services in Cincinnati. He became a maintenance supervisor, and worked at the company for about 25 years before his stroke.

He married his wife, Delores E. Gambrell, in 1965. The couple had no children, but Mr. Gambrell cared for his wife's children by previous marriages as if they were his own, Ms. Bitter said. He also enjoyed fishing, going to the horse races and playing cards.

Besides his wife and stepdaughter, survivors include stepsons, William Brown, Edward German and Timothy German, all of Covington; sisters, Lavonne Maloney and Buelah Johnson, both of Cincinnati; brothers, N. G. Gambrell and Don Gambrell, both of Cincinnati; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at the convenience of the family. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.

Mary Ruth Blackburn, 95, of Dry Ridge, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center Grant County, Williamstown. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Dry Ridge. Her husband, Robert Blackburn, died in 1989.

Survivors include a son, Howard Blackburn of Crittenden; a daughter, Mary E. Day of Florence; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Eckler-Hudson Funeral Homer, Dry Ridge. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Dry Ridge. Memorials are suggested to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 5320 Sherman-Mt. Zion Road, Dry Ridge, Ky. 41035.

Henrietta M. Denny, 81, of Independence, died at 9:15 a.m. Thursday at Florence Park Care Center. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Cecilia Church, Independence. Her husband, Oliver Clay Denny, died in 1990.

Survivors include a niece, Janet Reisenbeck of Ft. Thomas.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Cecilia Church, Independence. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Independence. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Home-Health Hospice, 401 E. 20th St., Covington, Ky. 41014.

Gilbert DeZarn, 75, of Dayton, died at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday at Birchwood Care Center in Hamilton, Ohio. He was a shipping clerk with Andrew Jergens Co., Cincinnati, a member of American Legion Post No. 11 in Newport, and was an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Catherine DeZarn, died in 1973.

Survivors include daughters, Sheila Billings of Bellevue, Linda Williams of Cincinnati and Rosemary Eller of Bristol, Tenn.; a son, Clarence DeZarn of Newport; a stepbrother, Charlie Bowling of Newport; a half-sister, Buelah Roberts of Bay St. Louis, Mo.; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Cincinnati. Memorials are suggested to Vitas Hospice, 1132 W. Kemper Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45240.

Pete Ennis, 65, of Latonia, died at 8:01 a.m. Thursday at his home. He was a retired employee of Roofers Union Local No. 42, Cincinnati, and a member of St. Benedict Church, Covington. His wife, Phyllis Ann Ennis, died in 1991.

Survivors include sons, Anthony Michael Ennis of Visalia, Gregory Alan Ennis and Douglas Ramon Ennis, both of Latonia; a daughter, Donna J. Allen of Latonia; a sister, Delores Ennis of Akron, Ohio; and 18 grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell.
