Norma Jean Ilg, 62, of Gaithersburg, Md., formerly of Erlanger, died Saturday at her home.

Arrangements are pending at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington.

Aleta Diane Kirk, 33, of Erlanger, died Sunday of hemorrhaging at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a food-service clerk with Turfway Park Sports Service Concessions.

Survivors include her daughter, Ally Ileene Mills; her mother, Gladys Ileene Perry Kirk of Williamstown; sisters, Denise E. Kirk of Covington and Nedra K. Rodgers of Williamstown; and her fiancee, Rick Mills of Erlanger.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Gum Lick Cemetery, Grant County. Memorials are suggested to Children's Hospital Development Office, 3333 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45229.

Frank Landrum, 90, of Owenton, died Friday at Owenton Manor Nursing Home. He was a retired builder and a member of Drushall Memorial Church in Breathitt County. A son, Ronald Landrum, preceded him in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Georgia Alexander of Crittenden; a sister, Jewell Farris of Lexington; a brother, John B. Landrum of Lexington; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services were at noon today at Breathitt County Funeral Home, Jackson. Burial was in Strong Family Cemetery, Lost Creek.

Chester Paul Leap, 76, of Alexandria, died Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a retired machinist with Heekin Can Co., Cincinnati.

Survivors include his wife, Beulah Leap; sons, Larry Leap of Bracken County, Gary Leap of Harrison County, Terry Leap of Butler and Gregory Leap of Alexandria; a brother, Stanley Leap of Alexandria; sisters, Edna Sprague of Alexandria and Grace Ruberg of Florida; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at noon Tuesday at Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Plum Creek Christian Church Cemetery, Campbell County.

Mildred C. Tarvin Otten, 87, of Erlanger, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker and was the first resident at the Munro House at Baptist Village in Erlanger. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Bellevue and the church Winsome Class, and a member of Christian Neighbors Senior Citizens of Bellevue. Her husband, Ernest Otten, preceded her in death.

Survivors include daughters, Marilyn Demler of Crestview Hills and Martha Johnson of Fort Wright; a brother, Floyd Tarvin of California; four grandsons; and one great-grandson.

Services will be at noon Tuesday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery, Mentor. Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church of Bellevue, 25th and Washington , Bellevue, Ky. 41073.

Donald A. Saalfeld, 66, of Fort Mitchell, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.

Stanley M. Sallee, 73, of Walton, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a self-employed import and export logger of walnut veneers, and a member of Good Guys Club and Walton Lions Club. He was an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Mary Sirmons Sallee, died in 1994.

Survivors include a daughter, Becky Petty of Verona; sons, Terry Sallee of Walton and Gary Sallee of Florence; a brother, William Sallee of Walton; sisters, Joyce Plunkett and Dorothy Dunn of Florence; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Walton. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 7730 U. S. 42, Suite C6, Florence, Ky. 41042; or Walton Lions Club, P. O. Box 94, Walton, Ky. 41094.

Julia Poe Steele, 36, of Stamping Ground, died Sunday at her home. She was a registered nurse and a member of Richland Baptist Church in Owenton.

Survivors include her parents, Bernie and Judy Fields Poe of Owenton; and a sister, Janet Wright of Owenton.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at McDonald Funeral Home, Seminary Street, Owenton. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Owenton. Richard A. Tretter, 83, of Lakeside Park, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was an office manager with Comos Portland Cement, Louisville.

Survivors include his wife, Mabel Tretter; sons, Thomas Michael Tretter of Erlanger and Richard A. Tretter of Monterey, Calif.; a daughter, Elena Zucker of Cincinnati; sisters, Almeda Sicko of Covington and Leona Hazen of Bloomington, Ind.; and five grandchildren.

Memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Blessed Sacrament Church, Fort Mitchell. Cremation will be at Hillside Chapel, Cincinnati. Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger, is handling arrangements.

Airport's Tina Marie Dix, devoted to kids

Tina Marie Dix was a bundle of energy whose bubbly personality made her a success at whatever she chose to do.

Whether at work, volunteering with Big Brothers and Big Sisters or serving on an alumni project for Northern Kentucky University, Ms. Dix gave her all.

'She loved children and everyone around her loves her,' said Ms. Dix's father, Orville E. Dix of Florence. 'She was the eldest of three children, and her brother and sister were very happy with her.'

Ms. Dix, 32, of Florence, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood after a short illness.

She was a project accounting supervisor with the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport and the Kenton County Airport Board.

She was a member of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Greater Cincinnati and a magna cum laude graduate of Northern Kentucky University, where she was a presidential ambassador and member of Nu Kappa Alpha, Phi Beta Lambda. She was also a member of the Financial Executive Institute and the Institute of Management Accountants at NKU.

Ms. Dix was an extremely organized person who enjoyed taking pictures on her trips to South America and the Caribbean.

Ms. Dix planned to pursue her master's degree before she suddenly became ill.

'She had hundreds of friends. Her co-workers at the airport are coming in a bus,' Mr. Dix said.

Mr. Dix and his wife, Susan Dix, were in Ontario, Calif., when they learned this weekend that their eldest child had become ill. They immediately flew to Northern Kentucky and were greeted at the airport by police, who escorted them to St. Elizabeth Medical Center South.

'I just don't know how to thank them,' Mr. Dix said of the police and his daughter's co- workers at the airport.

'That police escort shows how much they cared about her. It shows they take care of their own.'

Other survivors include a brother, Clayton Dix of Tampa, Fla.; and a sister, Janel Stogdill of Brandon, Fla.

Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Memorials are suggested to Big Brothers and Big Sisters, 2400 Reading Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45202; or American Heart Association, 2936 Vernon Place, Cincinnati, Ohio 45219. Edmond Alari, 89, of Florence, died Wednesday at Florence Park Care Center.

Arrangements are pending at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence.

Paul Albert Bergelt Sr., 75, of Covington, died Sunday at Lakeside Place Nursing Home, Highland Heights. He was a retired welder with Lingo's Manufacturing Co. in Florence and a member of St. Augustine Church, Covington.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice Elliott Bergelt; a son, Paul Bergelt of Florence; daughters, Shirley Kuper of Alexandria, Sharon Crail of Independence, Denise Shell of Ryland Heights and Kim Reusing of Edgewood; a brother, Doug Bergelt of Covington; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Augustine Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 7730 U. S. 42, Suite C6, Florence, Ky. 41042.

Rosa Bergman, 61, of Covington, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit in Covington.

Emma Mae Brownfield, 74, of Taylor Mill, died at 9:12 a.m. Monday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. She was a retired waitress with Anchor Grill, Covington, and a member of St. Mark United Church of Christ in Latonia, Covington Turners Women's Auxiliary and Moose Lodge Women's Auxiliary. Her husband, Claude Lawson Brownfield Sr., died in 1977.

Survivors include a son, Claude Butch Brownfield of Covington; daughters, Mary Ann Lambdin of Taylorsville and Linda L. Houston of Taylor Mill; sisters, Dorothy Preston of Covington and Nora Jump of Independence; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

LeRoy O. Clayton, 75, of Kenton County, died at 12:50 p.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.

He was a retired maintenance man for Intermodel Transportation, Cincinnati and was also a foreman for Burger Brewery in Cincinnati for 22 years.

He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Heritage Fellowship Church of God, Florence. His son, Roy Clayton, died in 1990, and a daughter, Sandy Clayton, died in 1976.

Survivors include his wife, Marian Sullivan Clayton of Independence; sons, Paul Clayton of Cincinnati, John Clayton and Ray Clayton both of Independence, Mark Clayton of Fort Thomas, and Brian Clayton of Verona; daughters, Pat Hartberger of Richwood, Vicki Kessen of Florence and Sherri Clayton of Erlanger; brothers, John Clayton of Alexandria, Donnie Clayton of Bellevue and Earl Robert Clayton of Florence; sisters, Loraine Deaton of Highland Heights, Georgia Farley and Gloria Cooper both of Newport; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Heritage Fellowship Church of God, Florence. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. Memorials may be made to the Heritage Fellowship Church of God, 7216 U.S. 42, Florence, 41042. Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Chapman Cook, 82, of Covington, died at 3:50 a.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington. She was a cook with Rosedale Manor, Latonia, and Garrard Street Nursing Home in Covington.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Cook; a son, Ronald L. Chapman of Tacoma, Wash.; a daughter, Rosemary Curtis of Milford, Ohio; sisters, Alice Mullins of Indiana, Liza Armstrong of Independence and Jeanette Ginkler of Erlanger; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery.
