Helen 'Red' Hanser, 82, of Fort Thomas, died at 10:28 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Robert J. Hanser; a daughter, Amy Dotson of Galena, Ohio; sisters, Virginia Finnegan of Cold Spring and Bernice Lipke of Fort Mitchell; and four grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas, with prayers afterward. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Margie Gagle Houp, 69, of Ludlow, died Saturday at her home. She was an owner of Margie's Sportswear Shop in Ludlow.

Survivors include nieces, Helen Clark of Ludlow and Robin Donovin of Bromley; and nephews, Gary Waits of Cocoa Beach, Fla., and Bobby Fogle II of Ludlow.

James A. Jett, 69, of Crestview Hills, died Sunday at Inglewood, Fla., Medical Center.

Eugene Lang, 68, of Maysville, died Saturday at Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Maysville. He was an employee of Parker Industries, Maysville, and an Army veteran.

Survivors include daughters, Vanessa Ann Brown and Angie Kay Williams, both of Indiana; sons, Eugene Douglas Lang of Lancaster, Ohio, Anthony Wayne Lang and Samuel Alexander Lang, both of Morehead, and Jamie Lang of Indiana; a sister, Helen Strange of Cincinnati; brothers, James Albert Lang and Hubert Lang, both of Dayton, Ohio, and Leroy Lang of Chicago; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Johnny W. McIntyre, 72, of Covington, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Park Hills and an Army veteran.

Survivors include daughters, Linda Earls of Covington, Karen McIntyre and Lisa McIntyre, both of Crescent Springs; a brother, Sidney McIntyre of Ghent; sisters, Lillian Farrell of Dry Ridge and Myrtle Smith of Warsaw; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Douglas Troy Miller, 34, of Independence, died at 11:07 a.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He attended Riverside Good Council and Redwood School and Rehabilitation Center, Fort Mitchell.

Survivors include his parents, Robert and Geraldine Miller of Independence; brothers, Tony Miller of Independence, Danny Miller of Florence and Joe Miller of Fort Thomas; Douglas Miller and sisters, Marie Hamilton and Dawn Day, both of Independence.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Cecilia Church, Independence. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Independence. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Memorials are suggested to Redwood School and Rehabilitation Center, 71 Orphanage Road, Fort Mitchell, Ky. 41017.Iris Jean Noe, 33, of Falmouth, died Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas. She was a member of Chapel of Praise Church, Falmouth.

Survivors include her husband, Lawrence Noe; sons, Lawrence Edward Noe, Michael David Noe, Daniel Wayne Noe and Justin Price Noe, all of Falmouth; her mother, Bertha Sebastian of Latonia; her stepfather, Thomas Pence Sr. of Newport; a sister, Tonya Sizemore of Dayton; a brother, Thomas Pence Jr. of Latonia; and grandparents, Price and Eula Sebastian of Newport.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick. Visitation will be from 5 to 10 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Arnold Roy Pelley, 83, of Taylor Mill, died at 9:30 p.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a retired supervisor with Lovetts Meats in Cincinnati, a member of First Christian Church, Covington, and a member of Covington Lodge No. 109 F&AM and Indra Consistory Scottish Rite in Covington.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Lamb Pelley; a daughter, Arlene Belmont of Taylor Mill; a sister, Mildred Cunningham of Covington; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 tonight at the funeral home, with Masonic services at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Hollie Perkins, 86, of Cynthiana, died Saturday at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Cynthiana. He was a carpenter and farmer and a member of Hesler Assembly Church of God, Owenton.

Survivors include his wife, Lillie Romans Perkins; sons, J. V. Perkins of Owenton, Evan Perkins of Monterey and Willard Perkins of Lexington; stepsons, Dick Rogers of Alexandria, Va., and Ruben J. Perkins of Williamstown; daughters, Mary Lee Lewis of London and Jane Ellen Cook of Owenton; a half-sister, Amanda Stewart of Lexington; 29 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at McDonald Funeral Home, Main Street, Owenton. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Owenton. Memorials are suggested to Hesler Assembly of God, Breck Road, Owenton, Ky. 40359.

Margaret Edna Wolff 'Mutzie' Roth, 94, of Greensboro, N.C., formerly of Covington, died Feb. 9 at Beverly Starmount Healthcare Center in Greensboro. She was a gymnastics and rhythmic dance teacher with her husband, Louie Roth, at the Covington American Turners Society and a member of St.

Paul United Church of Christ in Fort Wright.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Betty Lou Olliges of Virginia Beach, Va.; a son, Lou Roth of Summerfield, N.C.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. Feb. 27 at St. Paul United Church of Christ. Mrs. Roth donated her body to Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C. Forbis & Dick Funeral Home, Greensboro, is handling arrangements.

Brian H. Staten, 60, of Petersburg, died Saturday at his home. He was a building service manager with Procter & Gamble, Cincinnati, and a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Burlington. He was a former Boone County Knothole baseball coach and was a past director of Goldwing Road Rider Association.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Tommie Scott Staten; sons, Brian Staten of Villa Hills, Michael S. Staten of Florence and Todd L. Staten of Burlington; a brother, Neil B. Staten of Columbus, Ohio; and five grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial was this morning at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Burial was in Burlington Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Home-Health Hospice, 401 E. 20th St., Covington, Ky. 41014; or Fairhaven Rescue Mission, P. O. Box 761, Covington, Ky. 41012. Dallas 'Jack' Stewart, 76, of Owenton, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a retired farmer and superintendent with Tri-Village Water District and a member of Poplar Grove Baptist Church. His wife, Sandy Snell Stewart, preceded him in death.

Survivors include sons, Woody Stewart and Marvin Gerald Stewart, both of Owenton; a stepson, Greg Toole of Owen County; brothers, Olin B. 'Dick' Stewart, Marvin Stewart and Gene G. 'Bill' Stewart, all of Owenton; a sister, Geneva Ann Stewart; and three grandchildren.

Jefferson M. Taylor, 51, of Covington, died Friday in an auto accident on Interstate 275 in Colerain Township, Ohio. He was a master electrician with Bluegrass Electrical Consultants, Boone County, and a member of Taylor Mill Church of Christ. He was a musician, a songwriter, a member of Promise Keepers and an Army veteran.

Survivors include sons, Travis Cooper and Joshua Cooper, both of Covington; a daughter, Hinda Taylor of Covington; his father and stepmother, Delmar Rayburn and Patricia Cooper of Independence; sisters, Cissy Van Huss of Ryland Heights and Bea Angel of Independence; a foster brother, Donnie Marsh of Independence; a foster sister, Beerly Ashcraft of Owenton; and his fiancee, Karen Weyman of Fort Thomas.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Memorials are suggested to Taylor Mill Church of Christ, 6203 Taylor Mill Road, Taylor Mill, Ky. 41015.

Dolores A. Wilson, 79, of Florence, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker and a member of Florence Ladies Auxiliary and St. Paul Church in Florence. Her husband, Charles Wilson, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Geraldine Rouse of Florence; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Teipe of Covington and Thelma Buscher of Latonia; brothers, Andrew Nordmeyer of Zephyrhills, Fla., and Frank Nordmeyer of Covington; and one granddaughter.

Services were this morning at St. Paul Church. Burial was in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright.

Hazel Collins Wilson, 83, of Cincinnati, died at 8:36 p.m. Sunday at Jewish Hospital in Kenwood, Ohio.

Ronald Abbott, played jazz

Ronald Douglas Abbott didn't live a long life by modern standards.

But the impact of his 47 years will be felt for many years by those who knew him.

A professional musician, father, son, brother and friend to hundreds of people, Mr. Abbott will best be remembered for the joy he gave to others, said his older sister, Elizabeth Barnes of Grants Lick.

'He was the most gentle man, other than my father, that I have ever known,' Ms. Barnes said. 'He lived a very full life. He was a wonderful father.'

Mr. Abbott, of Fort Thomas, died Saturday at Deaconess Hospital in Cincinnati after a long illness.

He was a self-employed jazz musician and was a member of the Cincinnati Musicians Association and First Baptist Church of Fort Thomas.

Mr. Abbott was a bass player who earned a music degree at Morehead State University. He played in clubs in Cincinnati and Chicago alongside Jimmy McGary, Dee Felice and the Blue Wisp Jazz Band, among others.

Mr. Abbott began playing music seriously as a teen, his sister said.

A brother, Dave Abbott of Cincinnati, who has been featured in news reports recently because he won a number of games on Jeopardy, also is a musician.

Mr. Abbott took care of his children during the day while his wife worked, his sister said. Then he would spend his evenings playing music.

'He and I never had a cross word,' Ms. Barnes said.

'I know there will be some excellent music in heaven because he is there.'

Other survivors include sons, David Abbott of Grants Lick and Ian Abbott of Fort Thomas; a daughter, Jennifer Schulz of Arlington, Texas ; and his parents, Lloyd and Margaret Abbott of Fort Thomas.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Fort Thomas. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 7730 U. S. 42, Suite C6, Florence, Ky. 41042. Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas, is handling arrangements.

Rex Don Barger, 60, of Independence, died Monday at Vista Care Hospice, Cincinnati. He was a manager of Link Recreational Inc., Minong, Wis.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Prochaska Barger; a son, Gary Don Barger of Walton; sisters, Sandra Kay Douglas of Vandalia, Ohio, and Bobbie Joyce Barger of Iola, Wis.; and three grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Erlanger. Visitation will begin there at 3 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Spooner, Wis., Cemetery.
