But to Mr. Winebrenner's family, he was first and foremost a family man.

'He was a good husband and a good father and we're going to miss him,' said his wife, Marie Winebrenner.

Mr. Winebrenner died Thursday morning at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit in Covington. He was 52.

Mr. Winebrenner grew up in Florence and served in the U.S. Army from 1966 through 1968.

When practice fields were scarce, he made his own on the 33-acre former dairy farm where his family lived in a house he built after the motorcycle accident. 'He could fix anything,' said Mrs. Winebrenner. 'He would do anything for anybody.

'He was a good friend, and well-liked. He liked people.'

Mr. Winebrenner loved to fish in an acre-size lake he dug on his property and stocked with channel catfish, blue gill, crappies and bass.

He also grew vegetables, planted fruit trees and built and flew model airplanes.

Mr. and Mrs. Winebrenner celebrated 32 years of marriage Feb. 25.
