Brenda Sue Kirby, 47, of Dry Ridge, died Friday at her home. She was a former operator with Cincinnati Bell Telephone and a member of Unity Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Tracy Smith of Dry Ridge; a son, Robert Kirby of Dry Ridge; a sister, Mary Lou Siler of Latonia; and a brother, Robert Furnish of North Carolina.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will begin there at noon Tuesday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

Patty Lewis, 92, of Erlanger, died Saturday at the Highlands of Fort Thomas nursing home.

Elizabeth H. Racel, 88, of Indianapolis, formerly of Newport, died Friday in Indianapolis. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Clarence J. Racel, died in 1963.

Survivors include a son, Clarence S. Racel of Indianapolis; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

Dottie E. Riley, 80, of Newport, died Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a retired packer with Durke Corp., Cincinnati, attended New Macedonia Baptist Church, Newport, and was a member of Brighton Center Quilting Club, Newport. Sons, Roy Riley and Ronald Lee Riley, both preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband, Herbert Riley; a son, Raymond Riley of Williamstown; a daughter, Wilma Jean Baird of Newport; a sister, Halie of Scottsburg, Ind.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Radel Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

Helen Marie Straub, 61, of Newport, died at 10 p.m. Saturday at her home. She was a self-employed housekeeper and a member of New Hope Church of Life, Newport.

Survivors include sons, Michael Straub and Greg Campbell, both of Newport, Richard Straub of Latonia, Bruce Straub of Los Angeles; daughters, Roxanne Straub of Falmouth, Michelle Straub of Newport, Angel Straub of Los Angeles and Sonya Patrick of Latonia; sisters, Agnes Tolle of Morning View, Irene Deaton of Cincinnati, Margaret McMillan of Bellevue, Hilda Straub of Zephyrhills, Fla., Alberta Powers of Dry Ridge and Stella Whitaker of Butler; brothers, Junior Straub of Butler, Jimmy Straub of Dayton and Frank Straub of Newport; 18 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday at New Hope Church of Life. Visitation will begin there at 4 p.m. Tuesday. Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick, is handling arrangements.

Dorothy Mae Walker, 72, formerly of Covington, died at 8:15 p.m. Sunday at Ormond in the Pines Nursing Home, Ormond Beach, Fla.

Charles N. Wikoff, 83, of Maysville, died at 10:45 p.m. Saturday at Meadowview Regional Medical Center, Maysville. He was a plant manager with Browning Manufacturing, Maysville, and a member of Central United Methodist Church, Maysville. He was a member of Gideons International, and a past treasurer and president of the Mason County Senior Citizens. His wife, Amber Lee Wikoff, died March 27.

Survivors include a daughter, Cindy Weaver of Dover; a sister, Winnonna Myers of Lexington; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Central United Methodist Church, Maysville. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Maysville.

Memorials are suggested to Gideons International, P. O. Box 18488, Erlanger, Ky. 41018; or the charity of the donor's choice. Brell and Son Funeral Home, Maysville, is handling arrangements.

Ethel Wilshire, 91, of Ludlow, died Saturday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. She was a retired telephone operator with Cincinnati Bell Telephone and the Cincinnati Enquirer, and a member of Sts. Boniface and James Church and the Grandmothers Club in Ludlow. Her husband, Charles Wilshire, died in 1975.

Survivors include a daughter, Joan Keller of Ludlow; one grandson; and two great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Boniface and James Church. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Ludlow. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.

Allen David Wondrely Sr., 78, of Erlanger, died Saturday at the Highlands of Fort Thomas nursing home. He was a retired machinist with R.A. Jones Co., Florence.

Survivors include his wife, Anna Mae Wondrely; sons, Allen D. Wondrely of Fort Mitchell, Ricky J. Wondrely and Ronald J. Wondrely, both of Independence; a daughter, Betty Lou Girvin of Lexington; a brother, George Wondrely of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a half-brother, Fred Blaesing of Florence; a sister, Gladys Lake of Covington; and 10 grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

Marvin "Eddie" Wright, 56, of Sparta, died Saturday at his home. He was an employee of Schlumberger Industries, Owenton.

Survivors include his wife, Clarise "Rainie" Wilson Wright; his parents, Ralph and Eunice Boone Wright; a daughter, Emily Wright of Sparta; a sister, Brenda Sue Howard of Worthville; and brothers, Tommy Wright of Warsaw, Jerry Wright of Sparta, Ralph Wright Jr. and Muchie Wright, both of Owenton.

Monsignor Thomas B. Finn, vicar general in Covington

The Rev. Monsignor Thomas Bernard Finn, 88, of Fort Mitchell, died Sunday at Carmel Manor Nursing Home, Fort Thomas.

Monsignor Finn was a retired vicar general for the Diocese of Covington - second only to the bishop in terms of responsibility - and a former pastor of St. Thomas Church in Fort Thomas and Holy Cross Church in Latonia.

"A lot of people were touched by his life," said Father John H. Kroger, pastor of St. Anthony Church in Bellevue, who served as assistant to Monsignor Finn for five years.

"He loved the church, and he dedicated his life to the church."

Monsignor Finn was a former vicar for religious affairs, domestic prelate and consultor with the diocese, and also served as director of Diocesan Catholic Charities, now known as Catholic Social Services, for about 15 years.

While director for the Diocesan Catholic Charities, Monsignor Finn and his sister, Ella Finn, now deceased, housed and educated a Vietnamese orphan.

"He and his sister welcomed a young Vietnamese girl into their lives and into their hearts," said Father Kroger.

Monsignor Finn, whose father was a Covington police officer, was ordained in 1937 by the Most Rev. Francis W. Howard at Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption in Covington.

He initially served as an assistant at Immaculate Conception Church in Newport, then became secretary to the Most Rev. William T. Mulloy in 1945.

The following year, he was named the diocesan director of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith.

He later served as the Marriage Tribunal's Defender of the Bond, chaplain at St. Joseph Heights in Fort Wright, and an administrator with St. Joseph Church in Camp Springs.

After retiring in 1981, Monsignor Finn served on the St. Elizabeth Medical Center Board for 10 years, was chaplain of the Veterans Administration Hospital in Cincinnati for a year, and has been the chaplain in residence at Carmel Manor since 1994.

Survivors include a niece, Mary Truong of Cincinnati; and cousins, Kathryn Dempsey McClatchey of Cincinnati, Kathryn Brennan Cox of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Mildred Dempsey McCabe of Fort Wright.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Cathedral Basilica. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and from 9 to 10:15 a.m. Thursday at the cathedral.

Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

Memorials are suggested in the form of Masses. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.

Margaret Louise Blum, 77, of Florence, died Saturday at her home. She was an assembler with the Kroger Co. and a member of Springdale Senior Citizens Club in Cincinnati. Her first husband, Tommy Shaw Jr., died in 1964. Her second husband, Donald Blum, died in 1986. A son, John K. Shaw, died in 1983.

Survivors include a daughter, Reta Mae Thomas of Tucson, Ariz.; sons, William J. Shaw of Owen County and Dennis R. Shaw of Cincinnati; a stepson, David Blum of Oshawa, Canada; sisters, Lenna Hardtke of Erlanger and Mitzi Haver of Cincinnati; a brother, Orville Frazier of Reno, Nev.; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wendesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery, Cincinnati. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association, 2936 Vernon Place, Cincinnati, Ohio 45219.

Florence Crockett, 81, of Fort Wright, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a secretary with Ames Mining Co. and a member of St. Paul Church, Florence. Her husband, J. Russ Crockett, died in 1997.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty Pitman of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; sons, Joe Crockett of Covington, Bill Crockett of Fort Wright, Ed Crockett of Midway, Ohio; a sister, Betty Powell of Versailles; a brother, James Finneran of Nashville, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; and eight great- grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Charles Care Center, Fort Wright. Visitation will begin there at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. Entombment will be in St. Mary Mausoleum, Fort Mitchell.
