STURGIS - Cassie J. Wells, 89, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2002, at Redbanks Nursing Home in Henderson.

Surviving is a brother, Clore Smith.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Whitsell Funeral Home Sturgis Chapel, with burial in Pride-Bordley Cemetery near Pride.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday and until service Tuesday time at the funeral home.

Polly Wright

BEECH GROVE - Polly Walker Wright, 87, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at Colonial Terrace Nursing Home in Sebree.

Surviving are a daughter, Norma Reynolds; three grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Muster Funeral Home Calhoun Chapel, with burial in Bethel Cemetery in Beech Grove.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethel Cemetery Fund or the Mount Vernon Baptist Church Building Fund.

Henry Clovis Croger
Henry Clovis Croger, 85, Henderson, died at 2:15 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at Redbanks nursing home.

He was a member of Pleasant Valley Christian Church in Robards.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Lois Croger; four daughters, Terra Beck of Geneva, Marcella Ray of Gallatin, Tenn., Sarah Croger of Henderson and Debra Fox of Cadiz; two sons, Mack Croger of Duncanville, Texas , and John Croger; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are pending at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home.

Donna S. Quates

Donna S. Quates, 60, Henderson, died at 6:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.

She was a new car warranty administrator for Audubon Chrysler for 13 years. She had previously worked at O'Daniel Ranes for ten years. She was a Southern Baptist. She also enjoyed gardening and working in her yard.

Survivors include her husband of 13 years, Lester L. Quates; one daughter, Yvette M. Schminke of St. Philips, Ind.; one son, Jay Miller of Evansville; her mother, Dixie Satterfield of Princeton, Ky.; two sisters, Diane Nuckolls of Stone Mountain, Ga., and Karen Stewart of Birmingham, Ala.; one granddaughter; nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Alexander Funeral Homes East Chapel in Evansville. The Rev. John Charles will officiate. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery in Evansville.

Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society.Elisha Mansfield

Elisha Mansfield, 90, Corydon, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at Methodist Hospital.

He was a World War II Veteran. He was retired from R.J. Reynolds and Spencer Chemicals.

Survivors include three sisters, Jean Mansfield and Sadie McCord, both of Paris, Ky., and Viola Mansfield of Cynthiana, Ill.

Arrangements are pending at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home.

Martha Lee Nevitt Tucker

OWENSBORO -- Martha Lee Nevitt Tucker, 83, Owensboro, formerly of Calhoun, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at Owensboro Mercy Health Systems here.

She was retired after 27 years of service from the former McLean County General Hospital in Calhoun. She was a member of Calhoun Baptist Church and attended the Hopewell Baptist Church in Philpot. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and enjoyed quilting, bus trips with friends, and her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Tucker, who died Oct. 13, 1979.

Survivors include three daughters, Ann Caraway of Calhoun and Donna Bennett and Sue Nalley, both of Owensboro; two sons, Eddie A. Tucker of Philpot and Freddie M. Tucker of Henderson; one half-sister, Vonda Howard of Calhoun; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Muster Funeral Homes Calhoun Chapel. The Rev. Tim Feagin will officiate. Burial will be in Calhoun Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Calhoun Cemetery, Tornado Relief Fund, c/o Winfred Williams, P.O. Box 201, Calhoun, KY, 42327.

Helen McGrath Davidson

OWENSBORO -- Helen McGrath Davidson, 81, Owensboro, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at Owensboro Mercy Health Systems.

She was a homemaker and was a member of St. Stephen's Cathedral Catholic Church in Owensboro.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.R. Davidson, who died Aug. 14, 1986; and one daughter, Sarah "Sally" Marshall, who died Dec. 1, 1999.

Survivors include six daughters, Peggy Davidson Bellew of Louisville, Barbara Davidson Tichenor, Julie Davidson Newton and Nora Davidson Mattingly, all of Owensboro, Sissy Davidson Dunbar of Columbia, S.C., and Jane Davidson Bickett of Morganfield; one son, James R. "Jadie" Davidson Jr. of Owensboro; 20 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Stephen's Cathedral Catholic Church in Owensboro. The Rev. John Vaughan will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Owensboro.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at James H. Davis Funeral Home, where prayers will be said at 6 p.m. Monday.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to J.R. and Helen Davidson Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o KY Telco Federal Credit Union, 933 Tamarack Road, Owensboro, KY, 42301.

Janet Crowley Butler
Janet Crowley Butler, 83, Henderson, died at 3:15 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at her home after a long illness.

A member of Immanuel Baptist Temple and the Dorcas Sunday School Class. She was also a beautician for 57 years.

Survivors include two sisters, Bobbie Mobley and Margaret "Maggie" McClure, both of Henderson; nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Tapp Funeral Home. The Rev. R. Joseph Tricquet will officiate. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 8 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Immanuel Baptist Temple.

Shirley G. Jenkins

Shirley G. Jenkins, 74, Henderson, died at 8:15 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at her home.

A member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, she enjoyed reading and sewing.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Marvin R. Jenkins; one daughter, Lisa Newman of Henderson; one son, Randall Jenkins of Henderson; two brothers, Brian Anderson and Ronald Anderson, both of Fremantle, Western Australia; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at noon Monday at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. The Rev. D. Andrew Garner will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Monday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, where prayer services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
