Felix Ray Gill, 70, of 56 Littontown Road Extension, East Bernstadt, Kentucky, died Wednesday, August 9, 2000, as a result of an automobile accident.
Born March 24, 1930, in Laurel County, Kentucky, he was a retired truck driver, veteran of the U.S. Army, and member of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fannie (Buckles) Gill and Felix Gill.
Survivors include a son, Kevin Gill of Bogota, Columbia; a daughter, Karen Homan of Oxford, Ohio; four sisters, Selda Payne, Ruth Bruner and Dorothy McQueen, all of London, Ky., and Janice Walton of Cincinnati, Ohio; a brother, Robert Gill of Ocena, W.Va.; two grandchildren; and one grand-child.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 12, at the House-Rawlings Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Shannon and Bro. Kenney Shannon officiating. Burial followed in the George Cemetery at London.

Effie Mae Yaden

Effie Mae Yaden, 78, of Batavia Nursing and Convalescent Inn, Batavia, Ohio, died Thursday, August 10.
Born December 12, 1921, in London, Kentucky, she was a cook and retired staple manufacturer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eliza Proffitt and Tilford Proffitt; her husband, Chester L. Yaden; four children, Donald E. Yaden, John C. Yaden, Robert T. Yaden and James W. Yaden; three sisters, Leota Byrd, Nancy Chandler and Ethel Younce; and a brother, Mack Proffitt.
Survivors include a daughter, Joyce W. Chapman of Batavia, Ohio; two sons, Bobby D. Yaden and Phillip R. Yaden, both of Batavia, Ohio; five sisters, Jessie Coulson of New Richmond, Ohio, Jewel Phelps of Oxford, Ohio, Janie Yaden and Louise Yaden, both of Hamilton, Ohio, and Pearl Yaden of London, Ky.; three brothers, George Proffitt of London, Ky., Gilbert Proffitt of Batavia, Ohio, and Leonard Proffitt of Hamilton, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 12, at the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel with Denvis Rush officiating. Burial followed in the Rough Creek Cemetery at London.

Jim Davidson

Jim Davidson, 69, of Corbin, Kentucky, died Thursday, August 10, 2000, at the Jellico Community Hospital in Jellico, Tennessee.
Born July 18, 1931, at Corbin, Kentucky, he was a retired locksmith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Isabell (Gilbert) Davidson and Taylor J. Davidson.
Survivors include his fiancee, Edith Gay of Corbin, Ky.; three sons, James Thomas Davidson and Taylor J. Davidson, both of Mesa, Ariz., and Jay Davidson of St. Louis, Mo.; a daughter, Pamela Davidson of Mesa, Ariz.; her son, Douglas Gay and wife Martha of Corbin, Ky.; two sisters, Billie Setser of Corbin, Ky., and Dorothy Grimes of Pittsburg, Ky.; four grandchildren; her four grandchildren, Tony Polly, Sonya Polly, Kyle Polly and Hannah Polly; several nieces and nephews; and best friends Ethel and Bill Profitt of Corbin, Ky.
Graveside services were held Saturday, August 12, at the Woods Cemetery in Perry County, Kentucky, with the Rev. Dan Woods officiating.
Corbin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Charley Baker

Charley Baker, 63, of 5256 Rolston Avenue, Norwood, Ohio, died Thursday, August 10, 2000, at the University of Cincinnati Hospital.
Born November 18, 1936, in Laurel County, Kentucky, he was a maintenance worker for Metal Works, member of the Sharonville Masonic Lodge, and member of the Ashland Baptist Church in Norwood, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his father, Morris Baker Sr.
Survivors include his mother, Alpha (Westerfield) Baker of Clay County, Ky.; two daughters, Carolyn Sue Taylor of Gallatin County, Ky., and Charlene Curry of Covington, Ky.; two sons, Charles Anthony Baker of Loveland, Ohio, and Alvin Baker of Sanders, Ky.; two brothers, Melvin Baker of Norwood, Ohio, and Morris Baker Jr., of Mount Sterling, Ky.; four sisters, Hazel Harris of Morristown, Ky., Evelyn Whitaker of Portersburg, Ky., Maggie Bess of Brooksville, Ky., and Janet Baker of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 13, at the House-Rawlings Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Futrell officiating. Burial followed in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery at Fogertown, Ky.

J. Claude Smith

J. Claude Smith, 71, of 253 Delmas Gilliam Road, London, Kentucky, died Monday, August 7, 2000, at the Marymount Medical Center in London.
Born October 22, 1928, in Laurel County, Kentucky, he was a retired employee of the Caron Spinning Company and member of the East Bernstadt Community Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dora (Rush) Smith and Sim Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Lois (Thompson) Smith of London, Ky.; his first wife, Ada Jones of London, Ky.; four sons, James Murrell Smith and Robert Turrell Smith, both of London, Ky., William Darrell Smith of Corbin, Ky., and Farrlin Ray Smith of McKee, Ky.; four daughters, Betty Marcum, Barbara Faye Bledsoe, Robin Darlene House and Melissa Proffitt, all of London, Ky.; three step-daughters, Sherry Sizemore, Karen Mosko and Donna Edwards, all of London, Ky.; two brothers, Earl Smith and Eugene Smith, both of London, Ky.; a sister, Cornella Downey of Lexington, Ky.; 17 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Thursday, August 10, at the House-Rawlings Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jack Durham and the Rev. Robert Earl Johnson officiating. Burial followed in Cumberland Memorial Gardens.

Dora Thomas

Dora (Carroll) Thomas, 92, of 746 Sasser School Road, London, Kentucky, died Sunday, August 6, 2000, at the Marymount Medical Center in London.
Born March 1, 1908, in South Carolina, she was formerly of the Sugar Run Community in Jonesville, Virginia, and was a member of the Bethel Methodist Church of Sugar Run.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emma (Noe) Carroll and John E. Carroll; her husband, Boyd Thomas; two sisters, Lillie Mae Cornwall and Esther Carroll; and three brothers, Walter Carroll, Pearl Carroll and Paul Carroll.
Survivors include three daughters, Elizabeth Ann Hubbard and husband Amos of Danville, Ind., Ruby Grosdidier of Indianapolis, Ind., and Betty Smith and husband Cloyd Jr. of London, Ky.; a son, James Junior Thomas and wife Dawn of Jonesville, Va.; a sister, Maude Snodgrass of Jonesville, Va.; two brothers, Eugene Carroll and wife Barbara of Centerville, Ohio, and Richard Carroll and wife Virginia of Hartsville, Ala.; five grandchildren; a step-grandchild; five great-grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 9, in the Arney-Mullins Funeral Home Chapel in Jonesville, Virginia, with the Rev. Bobby Helton and the Rev. Willie Ray Jones officiating. Burial followed in the Bethel Cemetery at Sugar Run in Jonesville, Virginia.
Pallbearers were Jeff Hubbard, Mike Chatham, Chris Jennings, Josh Castetter, Randy Cox and Garry Ely.

Canda Schott

Canda Schott, 90, of 102 Parman Street, London, Kentucky, died Saturday, August 5, 2000, at Laurel Heights Nursing Home.
Born April 22, 1910, in Laurel County, Kentucky, she was a housewife and member of the First Baptist Church of London.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucy (Tankersley) Rader and Ambrose Rader.
Survivors include her husband, Fred Schott of London, Ky.; a son, Gayle Schott of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; a sister, Marie Pennington of Questa, N.M.; a granddaughter, Sherree Macemon of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; and a great-grandson, Andrew Macemon of Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 8, at the House-Rawlings Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Terry Lester officiating. Burial followed in the St. Johns Cemetery at East Bernstadt, Ky.
