Jacob Connor Gadd, 14 months, of Morning Creek Circle, Apopka, Florida, died Monday, November 19, 2001, at his residence. He was the son of the late Devyn and Bryan Gadd, who died in a traffic accident caused by a drunk driver on the day Jacob was born.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 27, at the Baldwin and Fairchild Funeral Home in Apopka, Florida.

James Monroe Harris
Mechanic
James Monroe Harris, 55, of Lead Mine Road, White Pine, Tennessee, died Tuesday, December 4, 2001, at the Jefferson Memorial Hospital.
Born November 12, 1946, in Laurel County, Kentucky, he was a mechanic and member of the Church of Christ Latter Day Saints.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Shirley (Tuttle) Thomas and Charles Harris; and a brother, Millard Harris.
Survivors include his step-mother, Goldie Harris of London, Ky.; five sisters, Helen Burgin of Indianapolis, Ind., Julie Harris, Rosetta Harris and Norma Moore, all of London, Ky., and Sylvia Harris of Daytona Beach, Fla.; and three brothers, Dennis Harris and Charles Harris Jr., both of London, Ky., and Frankie Harris of Indianapolis, Ind.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, December 7, at the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. George Poynter and the Rev. Steve Mullins officiating.
Burial will follow in the Harris Cemetery at London.

Tammy Laxton Asher

Tammy Laxton Asher, 32, of Southern Magnolia Drive, Corbin, Kentucky, died Friday, November 30, 2001, in Laurel County. She was the daughter of the late Cade Laxton, and is survived by her mother, Reba Lackey Cornwell, her husband, Mike Asher, and step-father, George Cornwell, all of Corbin.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 4, at the Corbin Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in the Pine Hill Cemetery.

Ben W. Karr
Ben W. Karr, 97, of Keavy, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2001, at the Laurel Heights Home for the Elderly in London, Kentucky.
He was born January 30, 1904, at Keavy to the late W.S. and Melvina Barnett Karr. He served in the United States Army and belonged to Locust Grove Christian Church and Level Green Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hannah C. Karr; a son, Kenneth Karr; and three grandchildren.
Survivors include one son, John Casper Karr and wife Beatty Jean of Keavy, Ky.; three daughters, Norma Starkey and husband Walter of Maud, Ohio, Wylene Greenlee and husband Walter of Batavia, Ohio, and Sue Thurston and husband Fred of St. Charles, La.; a daughter-in-law, Betty Lou Karr of Corbin, Ky.; one sister, Myrtle Martin of Keavy, Ky.; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, at the O’Neil Funeral Home Chapel with Brothers Marion Parkey and Jack Bunch officiating.
Interment will be in Locust Grove Cemetery.
Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

Katherine Elizabeth Sizemore

Katherine Elizabeth Sizemore, 85, of River Road, London, Kentucky, died Thursday, November 29, 2001, at her residence.
Born March 20, 1916, in Clay County, Kentucky, she was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lillie (Walden) Philpot and Charlie Philpot; her husband, Autho Dawson Sizemore; one brother and one sister.
Survivors include three sons, Carl Sizemore of London, Ky., Lonnie Gene Sizemore of London, Ky., and Dr. Charles Paul Sizemore of Atlanta, Ga.; eight grandchildren, Mark Sizemore, Carla Ann Sizemore, Carl Dean Sizemore, James Devin Sizemore, Michael Shane Sizemore, Charles Sizemore, Rebekka Wagner and Jeannie Sizemore; and two great-grandchildren, Joie Danielle Sizemore and Amber Williams.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Saturday, December 1, at the House-Rawlings Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Denvis Rush officiating.
Burial followed in the Whitaker Cemetery at London.

Bert Philpot
L&N Railroad
Bert Philpot, 85, of East Bernstadt, Kentucky, died Monday, February 4, 2002, at the Marymount Medical Center in London, Kentucky.
Born March 20, 1916, in Laurel County, he was retired from the L&N Railroad, was a member of the Grand Lodge of Kentucky #362 F&AM of Fiskburg, Kentucky, and was a member of the River of Life Pentecostal Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joshie Philpot and Willie Philpot; two brothers, Elmer Philpot and Edmond Philpot; infant sisters Dorothy Philpot and Alene Philpot; and sisters Loretta Philpot Stewart and Lois Ann Philpot.
Survivors include his wife, Sudie Philpot of East Bernstadt, Kentucky; a daughter, Joyce Earlene Fields of East Bernstadt, Kentucky; three sisters, Judy Buckles and Phyllis Smith, both of East Bernstadt, Kentucky, and Ada Schell of Hamilton, Ohio; a brother, Virgil Philpot of Connersville, Indiana; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, February 7, 2002, at the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charlie Helton and the Rev. Sammy Tosper officiating.
Burial followed in the Philpot-Fields Cemetery at East Bernstadt.
Pallbearers were Steve Fields, Jeff Fields, Todd Fields, Lonnie Bowling, Scott Bowling and Ben Johnson.

Shelby Smith

Shelby Smith, 89, of Rush Road, London, Kentucky, died Wednesday, January 30, 2002, at his residence. He was the son of the late Ollie and Marsh Smith, and was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Smith.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 2, at the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in the A.R. Dyche Memorial Park.

Edward Proffitt

Edward Proffitt, 62, of Brookville, Indiana, died Friday, February 1, 2002, at the Brookville Healthcare Center. He was the son of the late Sophia (Hinkle) and Theo Proffitt, and is survived by his wife, Diane (Gray) Proffitt of Brookville.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 5, at the Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home in Brookville, Indiana, with burial following in the Maple Grove Cemetery.
