Billy W. Jones, 49, of Conley Road, London, Kentucky, died Sunday, November 24, 2002, at his residence.
Born July 9, 1953, in Laurel County, Kentucky, he was a security guard and believer in the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marie (Nicholson) Jones and James Walton Jones; and a brother, Kenny Nicholson.
Survivors include nine brothers and sisters, Norma Sawyers of London, Kentucky, Fern McQueen of London, Kentucky, Jerri Jones of London, Kentucky, Clyde Jones of Hamilton, Ohio, James Jones of London, Kentucky, Harold Jones of Chicago, Illinois, Joyce Sensabaugh of Columbus, Ohio, Donna Jones of London, Kentucky, and Beverly Jones of London, Kentucky.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, November 30, at the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel with Dallas Riggs and Ted Morgan officiating.
Burial followed in the Mt. Salem Cemetery in Laurel County.

James Lykins
London, Kentucky
November 24, 2002
James Lykins, 74, of Old Whitley Road, London, Kentucky, died Sunday, November 24, 2002, at the Marymount Medical Center in London.
Born October 27, 1928, in Magoffin County, Kentucky, he was retired from General Motors, a member of the Melrose Masonic Lodge #671 in Norwood, Ohio, and a believer in the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nola (Dunn) Lykins and Harrison Lykins; and a brother, Woodford Lykins.
Survivors include his wife, Alice (Mays) Lykins of London, Kentucky; a son, Rick Lykins of London, Kentucky; a daughter, Vicki Evans of London, Kentucky; two sisters, Nola Lykins of Norwood, Ohio, and Margie Miller of Cincinnati, Ohio; two brothers, Harold Lykins of Cincinnati, Ohio, and J.T. Lykins of Saylerville, Kentucky; a sister-in-law, Naomi Lykins of Cincinnati, Ohio; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 27, at the London Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Carl Mays officiating.
A Masonic service was held 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, during visitation at the London Funeral Home.
Burial followed in the A.R. Dyche Memorial Park in London.
Pallbearers were Ralph Lykins, Donnie Lykins, Art Lykins, David Mays, Danny Mays and Arthur Lykins.

Gary Mize
London, Kentucky
November 22, 2002
Gary Mize, 41, of London, Kentucky, passed away Friday night, Friday, November 22, 2002, at the Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin, Kentucky.
He was a professional wrestler for 22 years who wrestled under the name of “Billy Joe Travis.” He was a member of the First Assembly of God in Dallas, Texas .
His survivors include his wife, Kathryn, of Tennessee; a daughter, Keaton, of London, Kentucky; two step-daughters, Sydney and Spencer, of Tennessee; and his parents, Bobby and Bonnie Combs, of London, Kentucky.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 26, at the Hart Funeral Home Chapel in Corbin, Kentucky, with the Rev. Randall Lee and the Rev. Rick Fowler officiating.
Burial followed in the Resthaven Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Larry Gaffney, Ronald Helton, Larry Barton, Ken Smith, Kenny Jones, Bob Steins and E.G. Martin.

Preston E. Onkst
London, Kentucky
November 23, 2002
Preston E. Onkst, 90, of Ridings-Mitchell Creek Road, London, Kentucky, died Saturday, November 23, 2002, at a residence on Oakley Street in London.
Born December 26, 1911, in Pittsburg, Kentucky, he was a retired superintendent of the London Utility Commission.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary (Wilkerson) Onkst and Walter Onkst; and his wife, Elva (Medley) Onkst.
Survivors include three daughters, Rosina Madden and Sylvia Vanhook, both of London, Kentucky, and Connie Hedrick of Richmond, Kentucky; a son, Marvin Onkst of Berea, Kentucky; four brothers, Hobert Onkst of Lakeland, Florida, Herbert Onkst of Fairfield, Ohio, Densil Onkst of Hamilton, Ohio, and Estill Onkst of London, Kentucky; seven grandchildren, Lynne Castles, Debra K. Harris, Billie Payne, Richard Aaron Onkst, Joel Edward Onkst, Krista Bruner and Shawna Allen; and eight great-grandchildren, Aaron Harris, Leah Harris, Jared Harris, Lauren Bacon, Lindsay Bacon, Joel Warren, Preston Edward Payne and Loni Payne.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, at the House-Rawlings Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Shawn Madden, the Rev. Greg Deaton and the Rev. Denvis Rush officiating.
Burial followed in the Liberty Cemetery in Laurel County.

Dale Philpot
London, Kentucky
November 26, 2002
Dale Philpot, 86, of Ridge View Drive, London, Kentucky, died Tuesday, November 26, 2002, at the Heritage Nursing Home.
Born April 4, 1916, in Kansas City, Kansas, he was a retired bakery employee at Griffin Pie Company and was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Etta Mae (Wolfe) Philpot and Buck Philpot; his wife, Louisa (Hicks) Philpot; a child, Sharon Kay Philpot; and seven siblings, Opal, Pearl, Mary, Lela, Clay, Oscar and Arnold.
Survivors include three daughters, Etta Mae Hammons of Hamilton, Ohio, Helen Jewel and Pauline Sherman, both of London, Kentucky; eight sons, Arthur Philpot, Claude Philpot, Elbert Dale Philpot, Glenn Philpot, John C. Philpot, Larry Philpot, Ray Philpot and Stanley Philpot, all of London, Kentucky; a sister, Daisy Johnson of Pistol Creek in Clay County, Kentucky; a care giver, Charlotte Helton; 32 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 28, at the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel with Cecil Benge, Bobby Helton and R.V. Holcomb officiating.
Burial followed in the New Salem Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Donnie Philpot, Junior Philpot, Mike Philpot, Heath Philpot, Randy Philpot, Brad Philpot, Roger Philpot and Bryan Robinson.

Nora Proffitt Proctor, 90, of Blackberry Lane, Afton, Tennessee, died Sunday, November 24, 2002, at the Laughlin Hospital in Greenville, Tennessee.
Born May 20, 1912, in Corbin, Kentucky, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Wiseman of Afton, Tennessee; a sister, Ethel Watkins of Kentucky; and two brothers, Gordon Proffitt of Mt. Vernon, Indiana, and Farris Proffitt of London, Kentucky.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, at the House-Rawlings Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ted Morgan officiating.
Burial followed in the Rough Creek Cemetery in Laurel County.
