Elsie (Smith) Bowling, 72, of Yorkshire Estates, London, Kentucky, died Sunday, February 1, 2004, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.
Born August 8, 1931, in Hyden, Kentucky, she was a retired health care worker and a member of the East London Holiness Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, Omus Smith; her husband, Edward Bowling; and two brothers, Denzil Smith and Bonnell Smith.
Survivors include her mother, Virgie (Morgan) Smith of Stinnett, Kentucky; two daughters, Wilma Blankenship and husband Fred of Kettering, Ohio, and Kathleen Jones and husband Sherman of London, Kentucky; a special daughter, Bonnie Lou Howard of Stinnett, Kentucky; two brothers, Claude Smith of Manchester, Kentucky, and James Ray Smith of Grassy Branch, Kentucky; six sisters, Lillian Smith of Grassy Branch, Kentucky, Alma Jean Napier, Pearline Whitehead and Carolyn Hacker, all of Essie, Kentucky, Rose Mary Howard of London, Kentucky, and Deanna Shepherd of Manchester, Kentucky; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 5, at the East London Holiness Church with Richard Howard, Jerry Holland, Fred Collett, James Bowling Jr. and Rodford Ledford officiating.
Burial will follow in the Cumberland Memorial Gardens at Lily, Kentucky.
Pallbearers will be David Whitehead, Danny Whitehead, Douglas Whitehead, Orphas Smith, Daniel Smith Jr. and Omus Wayne Smith.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Wednesday, February 4, at the London Funeral Home, and Thursday, February 5, from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour at the East London Holiness Church.

Robert F. Gravette
London, Kentucky
January 25, 2004
Robert F. “Bob” Gravette, 87, of Parker Road, London, Kentucky, died Sunday, January 25, 2004, at the Marymount Medical Center in London.
Born July 7, 1916, in Noonan, Georgia, he was a retired sales manager for Flowers and Mrs. Smith’s bakeries in London, he was a military veteran having served in the Merchant Marines during World War II, was a believer in the Methodist faith, an honorable Kentucky Colonel, and an avid supporter of the Arkansas Sheriff’s Boys Ranch.
He is survived by his wife, Marge Gravette of London, Kentucky; two sons, Malcolm Gravette of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Danny Horner of Hernando, Mississippi; three daughters, Terri Horner Key of Marion, Arkansas, Anna Horner of Nokesville, Virginia, and Jennifer Browning of East Bernstadt, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Jason Horner and Matthew Horner, both of Indianola, Mississippi, Taylor Key of Marion, Arkansas, Maggie Browning and Rachel Browning, both of East Bernstadt, Kentucky; and one great-grandchild, Tyler Horner of Indianola, Mississippi.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 28, at the London Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Lynn Dotson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Cumberland Memorial Gardens at Lily, Kentucky.
Pallbearers will be Danny Horner, Mac Gravette, Jamie Hoskins, Jeff Browning, Blair Apgar, Craig Richardson, Norm Minch and Doug Spivey. Honorary pallbearer will be Taylor Key.

Lois Ann Isbell
Corbin, Kentucky
February 1, 2004
Lois Ann Isbell, 47, of Corbin, Kentucky, died Sunday, February 1, 2004, at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. She was a daughter to Paul and Lois Fisher Honeycutt of Barbourville, Kentucky, and is also survived by her husband, Charles Isbell of Corbin.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 4, at the Hopewell Baptist Church, with burial following in the Cumberland Memorial Gardens under the direction of the Corbin Funeral Home.

Juanita Rose Mullins
Pittsburg, Kentucky
January 31, 2004
Juanita Rose Tincher Mullins, 78, of Old Crab Orchard Road, Pittsburg, Kentucky, died Saturday, January 31, 2004, at Marymount Medical Center in London, Kentucky.
Born January 12, 1926, in Laurel County, Kentucky, she was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard Tincher and Jane Hughes Jeffery Tincher; her husband, the Rev. Virgil Mullins; her grandparents, John and Anne Baxter Jeffery; and a brother, James Henry Tincher.
Survivors include two children, Virgil Terry and Jenny Mullins and the Rev. Bobby Helton, all of Pittsburg, Kentucky; grandchildren Robert Terry Helton, Stephanie Lynn Helton-Hoskins, Kimberly Renee Helton-Carroll, Virgil Dewayne Mullins, Michael Shawn Mullins, and Stacey Rose Marie Mullins Fiechter; great-grandchildren Christian Patrick Mullins, Alexander Stephen Mullins, Tori Nichole Mullins, Jacob Montgomery Hoskins, Ashley Shea Jane Fiechter, Christian Elliot Helton, Brandon Clay Fiechter, and Ian Carter Helton.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 3, at the House-Rawlings Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Helton, the Rev. Bobby Mullins and the Rev. Brent Carroll officiating.
Burial followed in the Pittsburg Cemetery.

Lavonda Nevels
Corbin, Kentucky

Lavonda (Brooks) Nevels, 43, of Piney Hill Road, Corbin, Kentucky, died Sunday, February 1, 2004, at the Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin, Kentucky. She was a daughter of the late Charlie Brooks, and is survived by her mother, Tommie (Trosper) Brooks of Woodbine, Kentucky, and her fiance, Jerry Smallwood of Corbin.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 4, at the London Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in the Dois Chapel Cemetery at Woodbine.

Ida H. Pennington

Ida H. Pennington, 80, of Barbourville Road, London, Kentucky, died Friday, January 30, 2004, at the Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin, Kentucky.
Born February 6, 1923, in Laurel County, Kentucky, she was a retired teacher with the Laurel County Board of Education.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry S. Hale and Drucilla Gross Hale.
Survivors include her children, Diane Pennington of London, Kentucky, Marlene Pennington and husband Rogers Hunt of Louisville, Kentucky, James and wife Gloria Gray Pennington, Benny and wife Ruth Parman Pennington, and Barry and wife Carol Sparks Pennington, all of London, Kentucky; a brother, Tilmon Hale of London, Kentucky; grandchildren Anthony and wife Crystal Greer Pennington, Marlene Lyle Chaney McKenzie and husband David, and Adam Eric Pennington; and great-grandchildren Lauren Kate Prichard and Savannah Rhea McKenzie.
Funeral services were conducted 1 p.m. Sunday, February 1, at the House-Rawlings Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Denvis Rush, the Rev. Seymour Wattenbarger and the Rev. Roger Wolfe officiating.
Burial followed in the Merrimac Cemetery at London.
Pallbearers were Larry Hill, Russell Lambert, Billy Mills, Edward Warfield, Roger Wattenbarger and Doug Baker.

Truman Snodgrass
Corbin, Kentucky
January 31, 2004
Truman Snodgrass, 74, of Corbin, Kentucky, died Saturday, January 31, 2004, at his residence. He was a son to the late Fred and Pearlie Clark Snodgrass, and is survived by his wife, Nancy Snodgrass of Corbin.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 5, at the Corbin Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in the Pine Hill Cemetery. Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, February 4, at the funeral home.
