HOWARD TRAYNER

Howard Burton Trayner, 62, of Willisburg, died Saturday March 8, 2008.

Born October 16, 1945, in Harrodsburg, he was a son of the late Luther Austin and Sadie Opal Perkins Trayner.

He was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church, a retired truck driver and a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietname War.

Survivors include: his wife, Barbara Trayner; a son, Troy (Genny) Trayner; two grandchildren; two sisters; and three brothers.

Services were held Tuesday, March 11, at the Carey & Son Funeral Home in Springfield by Rev. Morris Trayner. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Willisburg.

SHERRY BAKER

Sherry Elizabeth Phelps Baker, 54, of Bagdad, died Thursday, March 13, 2008 at Frankfort Regional Medical Center following a long illness.

Born January 22, 1954, she was a native of Jefferson County and was a former employee of Opportunities For Life, Frankfort, Ky. She was a member of Shelby Christian Church, Shelbyville, Ky.

She is survived by her husband, Lyle W. Baker; her son, Lyle Douglas (Holly) Baker, Marion, OH; three daughters, Kelly (Andrew) Hall, Harrodsburg, Jessica Baker and Mary Elizabeth Baker, both of Bagdad; her father, Vernon (Margie) Phelps, Louisville, and her mother, Joann King (George) Beltz, Rogersville, MO; her brother, Vernon “Bud” Phelps, Daphne, AL; five half-brothers, Robert (Barbara) Lee, Las Vegas, NV, Eric (Sheri)Lee, Gainesville, MO, Richard Lee, Fantana, CA, Lawrence (Patty) Phelps, Bedford, IN, and Timothy Phelps, Louisville; three half sisters, Sharon (Vic, Sr.) York, Crestwood, Melanie Rushing, Fordlin, MO, and Lisa (Ray) Ward, Louisville; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. O’King, her paternal grandfather, Archie Phelps, and paternal grandparents, Alta and Roy Beatty.

Services were conducted from Harrod Brothers Memorial Chapel, on Monday, March 17, with burial following at Defoe Cemetery, Henry County. Officiate was Pastor Terry Morrison.

Pallbearers were family and friends.

Flowers are welcome, but expressions of sympathy may be made to "Opportunities For Life", 1042 Burlington Lane, Frankfort, KY 40601. Or, "My Friends House", 355 Bark Branch Road, Frankfort, KY 40601.

BOB BALLARD

Robert D. “Bob” Ballard, 54, of Harrodsburg, died Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

Born Dec. 1, 1953, he was the son of the late Dr. George Ballard and the late Betty Ballard Brummett and was the husband of Leslie Looney Ballard,.

He was a former Bellsouth employee and member of the Southside Christian Church.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: two sons, George Adam (Korbel) Ballard and Aaron Brown Ballard, both of Oregon; one brother, George Thomas (Sonya) Ballard of Lexington; one sister, Pat (Eddie) Murphy of Lancaster; a step father, Joe Brummett of Danville; one niece, Alyssa Ballard and one nephew, Kyle Ashcraft.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 21, at the Southside Christian Church with Matthew Robbins and Brackie Willoughby officiating.

Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Thursday at the church.

ANNA BLACKWELL

Anna Lou Moore Blackwell, 72, of Lawrenceburg, died Monday, March 17, 2008 at the Hospice Care Center in Lexington.

Born Aug. 5, 1935 in Boyle County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Cora Lamb Moore and was the widow of Lloyd “Blackie” Blackwell.

She was a homemaker and member of the Doctor’s Fork Baptist Church in Boyle County.

Survivors include: two sons, Danny T. (Shirley B.) Willard and Raymond L. (Shirley A.) Blackwell; one daughter, Kathy Stivers; two sisters, Ruby Cox of Lebanon and Barbara (Lee) Sayre of Lawrenceburg; two brothers, Kenneth (Mildred) Moore and Robert (Nancy) Moore, all of Harrodsburg; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, William, Charles, Garness and Raymond Moore and two sisters, Joyce Lewis and Ellen Drury.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2008 at the Ritchie and Peach Funeral Home with Bro. Rick Shannon officiating. Burial will follow in the Alton Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Moore, Wayne Edwards, Doug Moore, Allen Moore, Tim Moore and Gary Drury.

Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Brown, Lee Sayre, Billy Sayre and Chris Darlin.

BESSIE BURNS

Bessie Louise Spurlock Burns, 91, of Burgin, died Saturday, March 15, 2008 at her residence.

Born April 1, 1916 in Clay County, she was the daughter of the late Steve and Alice Davidson Spurlock and was the wife of sixty eight years to Ambrose Burns, Jr.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Burgin Church of God.

In addition to her husband, survivors include: three sons, Jennings (Janice) Burns of Harrodsburg, Robert (Lillian) Burns of London and Gary (Patricia) Burns of Tyner; one daughter, Phyllis (Donnie) Irvin of Burgin; one sister; Viola Webb of Hope, IN; one sister-in-law; Loretta Spurlock of Vevay, IN; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters.

The funeral was held Tuesday, March 18 at the Burgin Church of God with Bro. Donnie Irvin officiating. Burial was in Burgin Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Todd Burns, Andy Burns, Donnie Irvin, Travis Irvin, Dustin Mosko, and Cecil Riley.

NOAH BURTON

Noah Wilson Burton, 22, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, FL.

Born Sept. 13, 1985, he was the son of Eddie and Pam Burton.

He was a 2004 graduate of Harrodsburg High School and was a senior at Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne.

In addition to his parents, survivors include: one brother, William “Hunter” Burton of Venice FL; grandparents, Mary Smith Burton and Bill and Marie Cooper, all of Harrodsburg and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Hunter D. Burton.

The funeral was held Wednesday, March 19 at the Harrodsburg Christian Church with Don Chase and Mark Thompson officiating.

Pallbearers were Kevin Preston, Robbie Merriman, Jeremy Kwiek, Katie Hudson, Josh Baer and John Mesplay.

Memorial contributions may be made to The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital, Harrodsburg Christian Church or The American Cancer Society.

LILLIE CAMDEN

Lillie J. Camden, 93, of Lexington, died Thursday March 13, 2008 at Richmond Place Health & Rehabilitation in Lexington.

Born March 15, 1914 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Ezra and Lillie Alice Click Tatum and was the widow of Levi J. Camden.

She was a 1934 graduate of Rose Hill High School, a homemaker, long time member of Central Baptist Hospital Auxiliary, a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church. She was also a retired antique dealer.

Survivors include: one daughter, Alice Jane (Charles) Bond of Ft. Worth, TX; one son, David Brent (Sarah) Camden of Lexington; two sisters, Beatrice Russell of Bardstown and Jewell Best of Mercer County; one brother, Ezra Tatum, Jr. of Mercer County; five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Roger Camden, a sister, Dorothy Noel, a brother, Willie Tatum and two other siblings who died in childhood.

The funeral was held Monday March 17, 2008 at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Lewis Walter officiating. Interment was in Deep Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Calvin Bond, David Bond, Andie Camden, Scott Tomlinson, Dan Eubank and Gary Best.

MILDRED CASON

Mildred A. Cason, 78, wife of William K. Cason for 61 years, died Saturday March 15, 2008 at the Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington.

Born in Lexington, she was the daughter of the late James and Alvina Guess Cash.

Mildred was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church where she was involved with the Women’s Missionary Union and served on the Board of the Baptist Elkhorn Association. For many years she was a mentor at Calvary to young women and also active teaching children about missions. She also served on the Board of God’s Pantry from 1987-1994.

Other surviving family includes: three sons, Grif (Geri) Cason, Harrodsburg, Clif (Shari) Cason, Lexington, John (Kelly) Cason, Louisville; one daugher, Julie Cason, Lexington; eight grandchildren, Clinton Combs, Brittany Lay, Alexandra Cason, Claire Cason, Bradley Cason, Holly Cason, Abby Cason, and Jack Cason.

Services were held Tuesday, March 18, at the Calvary Baptist Church, Lexington. Burial was in Lexington Cemetery.

Memorial contributions suggested to Gods Pantry.

FLORA FIELD

A Memorial Gathering for Flora “Vivian” Field who passed away Tuesday, March 11 and was the widow of Robert W. Field will be held Thursday, March 20, from 7-9 p.m. at Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill in Meeting Area “C”.

EXIE HARROD

Exie Elizabeth Harrod, 73, of Shelbyville, passed away Friday March 14, 2008 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.

She was born on October 3, 1934 in Mercer County, and was the daughter of the late Alzer Marion Greenwell and Lena Baker Greenwell, formerly of Waddy.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Shelbyville and was the owner and cook of New Globe Warehouse II Restaurant.

She is preceded in death by a sister, Jane Gordon, and a brother, Jesse Greenwell.

Survivors include: her husband of 56 years, Johnny F. Harrod; three daughters, Patsy (Glenn) Burgin, Lawrenceburg, Cathy (James) Lyons, Mt. Eden, Karen (Mike) Jeffries, Cropper; grandchildren, Jason Lyons, IN, Jessica Barnes, Taylorsville, Samantha Jeffries, Cropper, and Sarina Haney, Lawrenceburg; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jerry Yancey and Irene Landers; and two brothers, Stanley Greenwell and Luke Greenwell.

Funeral service were held on Monday, March 17, at the Shannon Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Jeff Burgin officiated. Burial was in Grove Hill Cemetery.

ADA MCCAULEY

Ada McCauley, 82, of Tulsa, OK, formerly of Danville, died Wednesday March 12, 2008 in Oklahoma.

Born August 18, 1925, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Virgil and Pearl Clarkston Hill.

She was retired from Philips Lighting (Corning) in Danville and a member of First Baptist Church, Danville.

Survivors include: one son, Joseph (Gail) McCauley Jr. of Annadale, VA; one daughter, Gwynn (Rick) Wallace of Tulsa, OK; three brothers, Virgil (Louise) Hill of Danville, Crit (JoAnn) Hill of Parksville, and Herman (Nancy) Hill of Stanford; two sisters, Rosie (Bobby) Catlon of Harrodsburg and Essie Turpin of Greenwood, IN; three grandchildren, Joey and Brandon McCauley and Monica (Denver) Sumner; two great-grandchildren, Garrett and Grayson Sumner; and a special niece and her family, Jennie (Jerry) and Bryan Leathers.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ervin, James and Jesse Hill.

The family will have a private service to celebrate her life at 2 p.m. Friday, March 21, at the W. L. Pruitt Funeral Home, Moreland, with Dr. J. Timothy Mathis officiating. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Joe, Joey and Brandon McCauley, Jerry Leathers, Denver Sumner and Bobby Catlon.

Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
