KATHRYN LUNGER

Kathryn Lunger, widow of Dr. Irvin E. Lunger, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at Ephraim McDowell Hospital in Danville.

Born in Farmer City, IL, she attended Centre College in Danville. She was active in many community organizations, and was a longtime member of Central Christian Church.

Survivors include: a son, F. Owsley Ritchey (Priss Austin), Harrodsburg; a brother, Robert Walsh, Farmer City, IL; grandchildren, Debora Brown (Dave) Howard, Kristie Austin (Brian) Bartley, Wendy Ritchey (Patrick) McBride, Wendie Austin (Fred) Robinson and Luke Austin and four great-grandchildren, Madeline Bartley, Austin Bartley, Tyler Austin and Andrew McBride.

Services were held Saturday, May 3, at the Milward’s Funeral Home on Broadway, Lexington.

DIANA MULL

Diana L. Mull, 60, died Sunday, May 4, 2008 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born Jan. 6, 1948 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Marion Nygard Abrahamsen and was the wife of Harold Mull.

She had been a book keeper for the Internal Revenue Service and was co-creator of Hearts A Fire Outreach Ministry.

In addition to her husband, survivors include: one daughter, Kimberly Mull of Harrodsburg, one brother Keith D. Abrahamsen of Jackson, TN; four nephews and four nieces.

A Celebration of Diana’s Life will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, May 9, 2008 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Pastor Victor Slatten officiating. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 7 a.m. Friday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

MARSHALL YEAST

Marshall Yeast, 95, died Sunday, May 4, 2008 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Manor.

Born Aug. 10, 1912 in Washington County, he was the son of the late Tom and Mattie Hendren Yeast and was the widower of Mary Simpson Yeast.

He was a mechanic and a member of Cornishville Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon and former Sunday school teacher.

Survivors include: one daughter, Lavon (James) Brown of Harrodsburg; two brothers, Ernest Yeast of Alton and Shirley Yeast of Cardwell; two sisters, Artie Ross of Washington County and Annelle Ross of Harrodsburg; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Arvonna Smith; two brothers, Russell Yeast and Loys Yeast and one sister, Hadgie Ross.

The funeral was held Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Paul Readnour and Bro. Mark King officiating. Burial was in the Cornishville Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Billy Grider, Kenneth Riley, Ronnie Long, Jeff Simpson, Tim Kidd and Donald Ross.

Honorary pallbearers were Deacons of Cornishville Baptist Church, Vonna Whitenack, Robin Kidd and Donnie Burke.

Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

BETTIE MCGUIRE

Bettie McGuire age 69 of Danville, died Wednesday May 14, 2008 at the Harrodsburg Health Care.

She was born April 18, 1939 in Junction City, to the late George L. and Mamie McElfresh Rousey.

She was a 1957 graduate of Junction City High School and a former employee of Mercer Dress. Her hobbies included singing and collecting antiques.

Survivors include: one son Brian Kevin McGuire of Nicholasville; two sisters Eula McGurire and Mary Elizabeth McGuire, both of Harrodsburg; two brothers, Carroll (Rowena) Rousey and Logan Rousey, both of Danville.

One son Keith Allen McGuire and two brothers James and Virgil Rousey preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday May 17, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Stanley Young officiating. Interment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Tony McGuire, Jeramy Hudnall, John Michael McGuire, Terry Rousey, Randy Grow and Brandon Grow.

No public visitation is scheduled.

JACK GEURIN

Rev. Jack Geurin, 72, of Harrodsburg, Kentucky, formerly of Murray, Kentucky, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at Haggin Memorial Hospital in Harrodsburg.

He was born son of Rudolph and Mildred (Tucker) Geurin on November 4, 1935 in Calloway County. On August 15, 1970 he married Mary Jean Ingold in New Albany, IN.

At age 11, Jack accepted Christ as Savior and was baptized at Elm Grove Baptist Church, Murray. Brother Jack graduated from Murray Training School in 1954. While in high school he was called into the ministry and was ordained in 1955 in his home church, Elm Grove. He later graduated from Campbellsville College in 1966 and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1970.

For over 50 years, Brother Jack pastored churches in KY, IN, MO and TN. Most recently, he served in Mercer County as pastor of the New Hope Baptist Church, and was Director of Missions for Mercer Association of Kentucky Baptists. He also served as pastor of the Cornishville Baptist and the Bethel Baptist churches in Mercer County.

In addition to his wife, Mary, he is survived by his mother, Mildred Geurin of Harrodsburg; a son, David (Loei) Geurin of Mt. Vernon, MO; two daughters, Jackie (Jeremiah) Bishop of Louisville, and Jeri (Mark) Stein of Union, SC; seven grandchildren, Drew, Cooper, Maddie, and Emma Geurin, Avery Bishop; and Austin and Haley Stein. He is also survived by one aunt, Mary Belle Brantley of Murray, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Rudolph Geurin, eight aunts and several cousins.

Funeral services will be held in Harrodsburg, and Murray. The first service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 17, at the Harrodsburg Baptist Church by Wayne Keuhner and Thurman Harris.

Visitation will be Friday from 5-9 p.m. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel.

The second service will be held at 5:00 p.m. (CST), also on Saturday at Elm Grove Baptist Church, Murray, by Al Cobb and Harold Greenfield.

Visitation will precede the service from 4-5 p.m. Interment to follow in Elm Grove Church Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Campbellsville University Scholarship Fund, New Hope Baptist Building Fund, or charity of your choice.

JEAN BOTTOM

Shelby Jean Bottom, 68, widow of Benny Bottom, died Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.

Born July 12, 1940 in Boyle County, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Anna Mae Bugg Gibson.

She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, a retired Hitachi employee and former Rand McNally employee.

Survivors include: five daughters, Sandra Davis of Wichita, KS, Kim Bottom of Harrodsburg, Crystal Kiassi of Lexington, Vicki Guzman of London and Sheryl Vaught of Madison, IN; two brothers, Roger Gibson of Danville and Dennis Gibson of Bradfordsville; three sisters, Magdalene Bunton of Lexington, Mildred Sharp of Lancaster, and Linda Gibson of Perryville; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Joyce Day.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 16, at Spring Hill Cemetery with Bro. James Harley officiating.

Shawn Gibson, Kevin Gibson, Mike Gibson, Bobbie Bunton, Brian Sims, and Ray Sivis will be serving as pallbearers.

Honorary bearers will be Rick Blaisdell and Taylor Lunsford.

Visitation will be at after 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

RUBY KENT

Ruby King Kent, 75, of Louisville, died Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at the Baptist East Hospital in Louisville.

Born October 14, 1932 in Burgin, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Mary Harlow King.

She was a homemaker, a Baptist, and enjoyed flowers and spending time with her grandchildren and family.

Survivors include: two daughters, Debbie (Dan) Handley of Ft. Myers, FL and Lisa Kent of Louisville; two sisters, Mae Arnett of Louisville and Helen Claunch of Harrodsburg; one grandson Mark (Jill) Handley of Louisville; two great-granddaughters, Sydney and Madison Handley; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Elmer King.

A celebration of life service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 16, at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dan Handley, Mark Handley, Bradley King, and Bill Powers.

Honorary bearers will be David Sims and Jerry Person.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

LIBBY DISPONETTE

Mary “Libby” Peavler Marksbury Disponette, 71, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at St. Joseph Hospital.

Born Oct. 12, 1936 in Mercer County, she was he daughter of the late Fred and Ethel V. Peavler and was the widow of Donald Disponette.

She was a retired waitress for Columbia’s Steak Hosue.

Survivors include: two sons, Davis (Beverly) Marksbury and Paul (Brenda) Marksbury; one daughter, Marsia (Jeffrey) Butler, 10 grandchildren and one great-grandson.

The funeral was held Thursday, May 8, 2008 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home in Lexington. Burial was in Blue Grass memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Davis “Lee” Marksbury, Dusty Warner, Don Freeman, Ronnie Johnson, James Lowry and Casey Marksbury.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 15120 Collections Center Dr., Chicago, IL 60693.

ROGER FERGUSON

Roger Dean Ferguson, 80, died at his home in Panama City Beach, Florida, May 1, 2008.

Born April 18, 1928 he was the son of Zella and Homer Ferguson. He was the widower of Karen Rains-Ferguson.

He was a graduate of Henry Clay High School and a long time Lexington businessman. He owned the Fayette Cigar Store from 1954 to 1986 and Roger’s Hallmark greeting card stores in Cincinnati, Ohio, Lexington, Louisville, Newport and Richmond, Kentucky.

Survivors include: his wife, Maxine Ferguson; two sons, Dean Ferguson and Doug Ferguson; one daughter, Lisa Ferguson-Day; three grandchildren, Chris Ferguson, Lauren Ferguson and Connor Day; and one brother, Dale Ferguson.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Dick and Murray Ferguson, and two sisters, Helen and Virginia Ferguson.

He was cremated and memorial services were held on Saturday, May 10, 2008 in Panama City Beach, Florida.

The family request any memorial donations be made to your local Hospice organization.

EVA FISHER

Eva Peavler Fisher, 85, died Tuesday, April 22, 2208.

Born Aug. 20, 1922 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Byron and Laura Peavler and was the widow of Richard Hampton Fisher.

Survivors include: two daughters, Robyn (Louis) Bourgeois of Lexington and Lisa E. Fisher of Salem, Indiana; two sons, Richard (Eileen) Fisher of Frankfort and Randy (Janice Kline) Fisher of Lexington; two brothers, Hugh L. Peavler, Richmond and Morris Peavler, Burgin; one sister, Mary Anne Merriman of Danville; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2008 at Spring Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lexington Humane Society, 1500 Old Frankfort Pike, Lexington, KY 40508.

Kerr Brothers Funeral Home in Lexington was in charge of arrangements.
