KEVIN GRITTON

Kevin Dwayne Gritton, 42 of Lawrenceburg, died Thursday, July 3, 2008 at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center.

Born Jan. 23, 1966 in Mercer County, he was the son of Jackie and Joyce Gritton of Lawrenceburg.

He was employed by North American Stainless Steel Co., was a member of Claylick Methodist Church, a charter member of Anderson Christian Church, a former journeyman electrician, former district manager with Crane Pro Services, an emergency medical technician, former volunteer fireman with the Alton fire district and member of Anderson Masonic Lodge #90.

In addition to his parents, survivors include: one brother, Barry (Jill) Gritton of Dearborn, MI; one sister, Amy Nanette Gritton of Redman, WA; maternal grandfather, A. C. Cunningham of Lawrenceburg; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Margaret Cunningham, paternal grandparents, Sidney Maurice and Evelyn Gregory Gritton, a brother, Jackie Christopher Gritton, a niece, Riley Schon and a cousin, Rick Cunningham.

The funeral was held Monday, July 7, 2008 at Ritchie and Peach Funeral Home with Rev. Forrest Hahn III and Rev. Doug Simpson officiating. Burial was in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jeff Moss, Steve Clem, Brad Carmickle, Gary Finnell, Dave Cooper, Henry Eldridge, Jessie Shively, Dave Blackshire and Lee McDole.

Honorary pallbearers were Stephanie Stratton, Ashley Gritton, Ivan Cunningham, Scott Ritter, Robin Dye, James Cunningham, Rory Cunningham, Sharon Phillips, Whitney Watts, Karen Jefferson, Janet Rivers and Susan Handler.

Memorials contributions may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital 1900 Richmond Road Lexington, KY 40502.

LAWRENCE KENDRICK

Lawrence Nolan Kendrick, 68, died Wednesday, July 2, 2008.

Born April 8, 1940 in Boyle County, he is the son of Hazel Walls Kendrick of Danville and the late Melvin Herschel Kendrick and was the husband of Ramona Kendrick.

He was a graduate of Stanford High School and was in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Junction City First Baptist Church where he was a deacon and children’s Sunday School teacher, was a sales representative for Bush Hog, a former member of the Gideon’s International and a volunteer and current board member of Boyle County Habitat for Humanity.

In addition to his mother and wife, survivors include: three sons, Larry N. (Jaime) Kendrick II, Peter S. (Susie) Kendrick and Mark H. (Kathy) Kendrick, all of Danville; one sister, Sue Britton of Danville; one brother, Neil (Janet) Kendrick of Knoxville and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Kendrick.

The funeral was held Sunday, July 6 at Junction City First Baptist Church with Rev. Dale Denton and Rev. Ernest Martin officiating. Burial was in Danville memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Larry Walls, Dale Walls, Tom Young, Raymond Kelley, Philip Whitt, Mike Hatfield, Glenn Wethington and Jackie Jackson.

Honorary pallbearers were the Deacons of the Junction City First Baptist Church, Russian Mission Team members and Dr. R. Finley Hendrickson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Junction City First Baptist Church Building Fund.

Stith Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

LYNDON LANE

Lyndon Nicholas Lane, infant son of Brandon and Lynsey C. Lane, died Thursday, July 3, 2008 at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.

In addition to his parents, survivors include: one brother, Wade Garrett Lane; maternal grandparents, Billy and Vonny Baker Humphrey; paternal grandparents, Roy and Jeanne Lane Bugg and the late Carl Lane; maternal great grandparents, Elwood and Maybelle Humphrey, Viola Baker and the late Cleo W. “Click” Baker; one uncle, Nick Humphrey; one aunt, Kacey Hamlin and several great aunts, great uncles, and cousins.

The funeral was held Monday, July 7, 2008 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Kenny Queener and Derek Baker officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Nick Humphrey served as pallbearer.

SAMMY LOGSDON

Sammy Ray Logsdon, 68, of Harrodsburg, died Saturday, July 5, 2008.

Born Feb. 6, 1940 in Marion County, he was the son of the late Charlie and Lottie Hourigan Logsdon and was the husband of Mary Priscilla Lamkin Logsdon.

He was a retired engineer fro IBM and a 1957 graduate of Lebanon High School.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: one daughter, Kim (Ed) Weaver of Harrodsburg; one son, Ray Logsdon of Florence; four grandchildren, on great grandchild, two step grandchildren and one step grandchild.

The funeral was held Tuesday, July 8 at the Carey and Son Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Wilson officiating. Cremation followed the funeral service.

Carey and Son Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

SARAH NALLY

Sarah M. Nally, 82, of Bardstown, died Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at Flaget Memorial Hospital.

She was born Jan. 27, 1926, in Springfield.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Gregory Parish.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Joseph William “Joe” Nally Sr.; three sons, Joseph William Nally Jr., Bernard Leo Nally, and Donald Ray Nally; two brothers, Joseph Lee Tingle and Jessie Ray Tingle; a sister, Gillie Mae Tingle; her father, Ray Crouch; and her mother, Gillie Ann Tingle.

Survivors include: two sons, Joseph Robert Nally, Sr. of Loretto and Mark D. Nally of Bardstown; two daughters, Barbara Ann Nally, Bardstown, and Denise Hagan, Kansas City, MO; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three brothers, William Thomas Tingle, Elizabethtown, Charles Shirley Tingle and Richard T. Tingle, both of Harrodsburg; three sisters, Dorothy Bell Perkins and Mary Elizabeth Sanders, both of Harrodsburg, and Martha Marie Willard, Lebanon.

A Mass of Christian burial was held at Saturday, July 5, at the St. Gregory Church with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Rev. Trumie Culpepper Elliott officiated.

Bardstown, including a prayer service Friday evening.

Mann and Greenwell Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements.

NANNIE TRAINOR

Nannie E. Trainor, 94, of Georgetown, died Thursday, July 3, 2008.

Born May 24, 1914 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late James Rufus and Nannie Watters Dean and was the widow of Rev. Everett Lee Trainor.

She was a member of Victory Baptist Temple.

Survivors include: two sons, David (Kathy) Trainor of Frankfort and William Trainor Lexington; seven daughters, Mary Helen Noel, Ada Watts, Phyllis (Ronnie) Sallee, all of Lexington, Nancy Trainor, Frances (Kenneth) Watts and Dolores (Roy) Wood, all of Georgetown and Ruth Trainor of Ellenton, FL and several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lavina Gushi and sons, Irvin Lee and George Trainor.

The funeral was held Tuesday, July 8 at Tucker, Yocum and Wilson Funeral Home with Pastors Kenneth Watts, Wayne Brickner and George Dye officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ronnie Gushi, Jack Davis, Stephen Huffman, Todd Huffman, Joey Gushi, Ricky Gushi, James E. Pigg, Ryan Sallee, Kevin Wood, Brian Wood and Samuel Trainor.

Honorary pallbearers were Douglas Watts, Jennifer Pigg, Dr. Timothy Scott and Sharon Williams.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 1317 US HWY 62, East Cynthiana, KY 41031.

HOWARD WHEELER

Howard G. Wheeler Jr., 61, husband of Linda Sue Pittman Wheeler, died Saturday, July 5, 2008 at his residence.

Born in Versailles, he was a son of the late Howard and Lillian Wheeler Sr.

He was retired from Trane, a Vietnam Army veteran, and a member of Meadowthorpe Baptist Church.

Survivors, other than his wife, are: three children, Nancy Jean (Mac) Smith, Harrodsburg, Russell Wayne Wheeler and Heather Elizabeth Wheeler, both of Lexington; six grandchildren, Brittany and Noah Smith, Anthony and Jasmyne Jarrell, Christopher and Tyler Wheeler; and a brother, Donald Wayne (Linda Lou) Wheeler, Lexington; and a niece, April Wheeler.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday, July 10, at the Kerr Brothers Funeral Home-Main Street, Lexington. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society, 1504 College Way, Lexington, KY 40502 or to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 2312 Alexandria Drive, Lexington, KY 40504.

JOANN WRIGHT

Wright, JoAnn Frederick, 80, wife of Bobby Gene Wright, passed away from a brief illness on Friday July 4, 2008 at St. Joseph Hospital.

Born on April 3, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Hargus H. and Carrie Ackert Frederick.

JoAnn began her career in 1947 as one of two female watchmakers in the state of Kentucky. She was well known for her professionalism, and certified by Rolex at their New York Headquarters.

She is survived by: her husband of 57 years, Bob: one son Michael Keith (Eva) Wright, grandson John Patrick, son Mark Frederick (Gayle) Wright; grandchildren, Davis Christian and Chloe Elizabeth, all of Harrodsburg; and a sister Alice Turner, Port St. Lucie, FL.

JoAnn was preceded in death by two brothers, Calvin and Robert Frederick and a sister, Martha Barnes.

A memorial service was held Monday July 7, at the Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 463 East Main St., Lexington, by Rev. Steve Gray.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society, 1504 College Way, Lexington, 40502, or Hospice of the Bluegrass, 2312 Alexandria Dr., Lexington, 40504.

ROBERT BLACK

Robert Lee “Bobby” Black, 75, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at the Christian Care Center in Lancaster.

Born January 27, 1933 in Louisville, he was the son of the late Margaret Black Burrus.

He was a self-employed farm laborer and a member of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include: a special aunt, Willie Jones; and a special cousin, Rosa M. Jones, both of Lexington; another aunt, Evelina Shirley, Bagdad; four uncles, Walter and Dave Jones, Shelbyville, Claude Jones, Lynwood WA and James Jones, Simpsonville.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 am Friday, July 18, at Maple Grove Cemetery by Rev. Daryl Hodge.

A brief visitation will be held at the cemetery from 10:45 a.m. Friday until service time. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.

The Parks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

MILDRED BURKE

Mildred Lucille Blacketer Burke, died Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at the James B. Haggin Extended Care.

Born Dec. 26, 1918 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Elmer Ray and Hattie Mae Shewmaker Blacketer and was the widow of William G. “Bill” Burke.

She was a homemaker and had been a secretary and librarian at Mercer County Schools, a member of the Cornishville Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School Teacher and G.A. Leader, and a 1937 Graduate of Harrodsburg High School.

Survivors include: one daughter, Nancy Carolyn (Ronnie) Baker of Lawrenceburg; one son, Harry (Glenda) Burke of Harrodsburg; three brothers Joe and Paul Blacketer of Harrodsburg and Carl Blacketer of Indiana; four sisters, Juanita Pearson of Missouri, Norene Brueck of Florida, Lavonne Kays of Ohio and Laverne Lee of Michigan; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and six stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Billy Don Burke, two sisters, Regina Freeman and Margie Cloyd and six brothers, J.T., Donald, Loren, William, Marvin and Charles Blacketer.

The funeral was held Friday, July 11, 2008 at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Mark King and Bro. Paul Readnour officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Donald K. Burke, Kevin Burke, Michael Burke, Tim Kidd, Mike Blacketer, and Buck Whitenack.

Honorary pallbearers were his granddaughters.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cornishville Baptist Church.
