AARON MOBLEY

Aaron Mobley, 64, of Harrodsburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

Born Oct. 15, 1944 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Hallis Mobley and Gladys Perkins Morris and was the husband of Phyllis Shackelford Mobley.

He was a carpenter by trade, a member of the Harrodsburg United Presbyterian Church, a member of the Lucas Oil Pro Truck Pullers League and owner and driver of the “Mad Dog” pulling truck for 30 years. He was also instrumental at the Mercer County Fair where he was the Senior Advisor to the Motor Sports Program

In addition to his wife, survivors include: two sons, David (Shaundra) Mobley and Jay Mobley, both of Harrodsburg; one daughter, Samantha Mobley of Louisville; one step daughter, Stefanie (Justin) Mason of Niota, TN; two step sons, Chad Gilvin and Wesley Gilvin, both of Harrodsburg; one sister, Roxie Jackson of Harrodsburg and two brothers, Curtis Mobley of Florida and Donnie Mobley of Harrodsburg.

He was preceded in death by a wife, Janice Riley Mobley.

The funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 23 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Keith Katterhein officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Art Freeman, Kerry Anness, Joe Perkins, Steve Sanders, Jackie Claycomb, Robert Brown, Freddie Brown, Jackie Claycomb and Jack Coleman.

Honorary pallbearers are Joe Wilson, Lee Wilson, LeMayne Ellis, Ricky Keller, Woody Holt, Frankie Reed and Chris Record.

Visitation will be at 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22 and prior to service on Friday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel.

ANN PETERMAN

Ann Elizabeth Peterman, 97, of Findlay, OH died on Thursday, January 8, 2009 surrounded by her family.

She was born on November 13, 1911 in Mercer County to the late Handy Cassell and Mattie Jane Brown Kurtz. She was the widow of Glen Arthur Peterman.

She enjoyed spending winters in Florida, time on the beach, playing golf and spending time with her family. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.

Surviving are: six children, Glen Peterman Jr. of Toledo, OH, Steve (Anna) Peterman of Arlington, OH, Nina (David) Pfisterer of Findlay, OH, Charles (Darlene) Peterman of Perrysburg, OH Norma (Bruce) Stewart of Springfield, OH and Joseph (Charlotte) Peterman of Findlay, OH; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nettie (Archie) Scott of Harrodsburg and Bessie Keller of Knoxville, TN; and a brother Lee (Rhoda) Kurtz of Lancaster.

She was preceded in death by siblings, Margaret Edwards, Lucille Crutchfield, and Lowie Clary.

A private funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Monday, January 12, at the Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, Findlay, OH with the Rev. Don Flory officiating. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 218 East Sandusky Street, or to Bridge Home Health and Hospice, 15100 Birchaven Lane, both of Findlay, Ohio 45840.

TRUMAN REDMON

Truman Coyle Redmon, 92, died peacefully in the presence of her family at the Hospice Care Center in Lexington on Friday, January 16, 2009.

Born in Woodford County, she was a daughter of the late Joshua and Grace Truman Collins Coyle.

She was a member of the Troy Presbyterian Church. Truman was educated at the Nonesuch School. Her mother died when Truman was only 13, and she left school to help raise her younger brother John and take care of the household. She lived in the "big house" at Nonesuch and helped care for her family until the death of her husband. She was active in her church and in her community. She was known for her flamboyant "Red" trademark and fashioned red hats before they became culturally popular. She had been an active member of the Woodford County Senior Citizens, was active in the "Kitchen Band", was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, was a Kentucky Colonel, was a Sunday School teacher, and member of the advisory board of Community Education.

Surviving are her children: Fay (Jack) Lee of Versailles, Marlene (J. B.) Hawkins of Lawrenceburg, Sandy (Olena) Redmon of Versailles, Randy (Nancy) Redmon of Mercer County; 10 grandchildren; six step grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews including John Edward Coyle of Versailles.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Redmon, two sisters, Catherine Coyle Jacobs, Mary Lillan “Minnie” Potts, and a brother, John Coyle.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, January 19, at the Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. David Duggan and Rev. Ben Lenhart officiating. Interment was in Versailles Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Troy Presbyterian Church or to Hospice of the Bluegrass.

MARGARET THOMPSON

Margaret E. Thompson, 78, of Harrodsburg, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

Born Jan. 12, 1931 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Walter Kyle “Doc” and Cordelia Williams Harmon and was the wife of Floying Thompson, Sr.

She was a homemaker and a member of Cornishville Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, survivors include: two sons, Dennis (Rose) Thompson of Harrodsburg and Floying (Marsha) Thompson Jr. of Danville; two brothers, Cornell Powell of Harrodsburg and Dale Powell of Lancaster; two sisters, Judy Rivers Reed of Burgin and Charlotte Sallee of Harrodsburg and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Travis Thompson and a brother, W. C. Harmon.

The funeral was held Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Paul Readnour and Bro. Mark King officiating. Burial was in Danville Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Zachary Fyffe, Floying Thompson, Jr., Dennis Thompson, Troy Thompson, Aubrey McMullin and Larry Reed.

WILLIAM TUDOR SR.

William Lee "Bill" Tudor Sr., 68, died Monday January 19, 2009.

Born in Lexington, KY, he moved to Bradenton, FL in 2001. He was a member of Ss Peter & Paul the Apostles Catholic Church, and was a member of local 369 I.B.E.W. Union.

Survived by, wife, Theresa of Bradenton, FL; children, Lisa (Jim) Gallagher, Owensboro, William L. Tudor, Jr. of Orlando, FL, Mary Tudor of Tampa, FL, Becky Brummer of Cynthiana, Eddie (Faye) Tudor of Orlando, FL, Wayne (Heather) Tudor of Harrodsburg, KY; sisters, Sue Stephens of Paris, Della Tudor of KY; 23 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 2009 at Ss Peter & Paul the Apostles Catholic Church, 2850 75th Street West, Bradenton, FL 34209.

Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel, 604 43rd Street West, Bradenton, FL 34209 in charge.

EDNA BELEW

Edna Mae Record Belew, 91, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009.

Born Oct. 3, 1917 in Salvisa, she was the daughter of the late Will T. and Ell Trisler Record and was the widow of the Rev. M Wendell Belew.

She was a retired elementary school teacher, having taught in Kentucky and Indiana and for 30 years in the Atlanta Public School System. She was a graduate of Georgetown College and after graduating she served as Registrar for the college. She was also a member of St. Columbia Episcopal Church in Washington , D.C.

Survivors include: two daughters, Cathy (Robert) McGraw of Rome, GA and Belle (Josh) Sarnoff of Washington , D.C.; one son, Wendell (Joy) Belew Jr. of Washington , D.C.; two brothers, Vernon Record of Louisville and Billy (Verna) Record of Georgetown, TX and four grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 2, 2009 at Spring Hill Cemetery with Rev. John Hockersmith III.

VERLIN GABHART

Verlin G. Gabhart, 93, of Harrodsburg, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born Jan. 21, 1916 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Morgan and Lottie Roberts Gabhart and was the widower of Florence M. Gabhart.

He was an Army veteran of WWII and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was retired from manufacturing, an antique dealer and was a member of the Harrodsburg Church of Christ.

Survivors include: two brothers, Chester and Murrell Gabhart, both of Harrodsburg; one sister, Mable Berry, of Glasgow and six nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Richey.

The funeral was held Saturday, Jan. 24 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Mike Estes officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Buddy Shirley, Jack Freeman, Duane Hall, Bruce Parrott, Carroll Gritton and Donnie Pinkston.

SYLVIA KINDER

Sylvia McKinney Kinder, 76, widow of Walter “Doug” Kinder, died Sunday, January 25 at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.

Born in Jessamine County, she was a daughter of the late Bill and Ella Doolin McKinney.

She had attended the Faith Baptist Church on Huntertown Road. Sylvia had retired from Texas Instruments with 41 years of service.

Survivors include: three daughters, Donna (Russell) Gardner of Versailles, Barbara (Phillip) Devers of Midway and Lisa (Jeff) Hall of Midway; one son, Walt (Gina) Kinder of Lexington; four sisters, Clissie Arnold of Lexington, Dovie Freels of Wilmore, Nancy Arvin of Nicholasville, Omia Bailey of Versailles; one brother, Lee McKinney of Millville, nine grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Lola Smith, Scenery McKinney, Loraine McKinney, Oniva McKinney, and three step brothers, Owen, Jack, and Harrison McKinney.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, January 27, at the Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home, Versailles, with Rev. Bobby Lakes officiating. Interment was in Spring Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Strange, Cody Strange, Walter Kinder III, Sean Cummins, Jeff Hall and Mitch Keaton.

VIRGINIA MEDLEY

Virginia Ann Morgan Medley, 66, of Lawrenceburg, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009 at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.

Born Jan. 2, 1943 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Dora Helen Shank Morgan and was the wife of Bobby Medley.

She was a 14 year employee of the Anderson County Clerk's Office, a member of Lawrenceburg First Christian Church and attended Hope Community Church.

In addition to her husband, survivors include: one son, Richard (Kim) Medley; two daughters, Bobbi (Larry) Graves and Dianna (Marty) Hendrix; a step father, Walter Shank of Grayslake, IL; step-mother, Patsy Collins of Lexington; nine brothers, Ronnie, Jerry, David, Larry, Johnny, and Jimmie Morgan, Michael and Larry Shank and Walter Shank, Jr.; two sisters, Vivian Cunigan and Cheryl McGuire and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Zachary Graves.

The funeral was held Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009 at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Eaton and her grandson Bro. Jared Graves officiating. Burial was in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jerry Montgomery, Jason Denny, Larry, Jared and Aaron Graves, and Marty Hendrix.

Honorary pallbearers were Delana and Stephanie Hendrix, Noah and Kim Medley and Lindsay Morrison.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Anderson County Humane Society, P.O. Box 494, Lawrenceburg, KY 40342.

DENNIS MORMAN

Dennis Lee Morman, 56, of Harrodsburg, died Friday, January 23, 2009 at the Hospice Care Center in Lexington.

He was born in Saginaw, MI on January 7, 1953, the son of Donald Morman and Ellen Jones Morman.

He is survived by his wife, Wendy Jean Hart Morman.

Services will be private.

Arrangements by Care Cremation & Funeral Service, Lexington.

RALPH SALLEE

Bro. Ralph C. Sallee, 54, of Lancaster, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2009 at Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

Born Aug. 16, 1954 in Columbus, OH, he was the son of Barbara Haddix Sallee of Mercer County and the late T. C. Sallee and was the husband of Alesia Adams Sallee.

He was the head girls basketball coach at East Jessamine High School. He was a graduate of Mercer County High School, Cincinnati Bible College and earned his master's degree from Xavier University. He also received a teaching certification from Eastern Kentucky University. For the past 28 years, Bro. Sallee has served as the pastor of Scott's Fork Christian Church in Garrard County. Throughout his career, he has also served as a teacher, preacher, and administrator for the Central Kentucky Christian School in Harrodsburg, coached at Harrodsburg High School, Burgin High School, and Lexington Christian Academy.

In addition to his wife and mother, survivors include: one son, Nathaniel Sallee of Nicholasville; one daughter, Courtney LeMay of Lancaster; two brothers, Tommy (Cindy) Sallee of Harrodsburg and Rodney W. (Cathy) Sallee of Nicholasville; one sister, Sheila (Max) Clark of Harrodsburg; a mother-in-law, Goldie Adams of Lancaster; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and brothers and sisters-in-law.

A Celebration of Life service was held Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009 at Southland Christian Church in Nicholasville with Bro. Craig Yates and Bro. Chuck Cooper officiating. Burial was in the Lancaster Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Aaron, Adam and Drew Sallee, Chris, Eric, Jeffrey, and Josh Adams, and Richard Harrison.

Honorary pallbearers were past and present ball players and past and present members of Scott's Fork Christian Church.

In lieu of flowers, a Ralph Sallee Scholarship Fund has been set up at First Southern National Bank in his honor. All donations may be made to the Ralph Sallee Scholarship Fund, First Southern National Bank, c/o Arnie Akers, 27 Public Square, Lancaster, KY 40444.

Ramsey Funeral Home in Lancaster was in charge of the arrangements.
