BILLY ROBINSON

Billy G. Robinson, 58, of Harrodsburg, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009 at the Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

Born Oct. 25, 1950 in Mercer County, he was the son of Sarah Stratton Robinson of Mercer Count and the late Roy Robinson.

He was a fork lift operator for McLane Company in Nicholasville.

In addition to his mother, survivors include: one daughter, Sarah Carlene (Bill) Clark of Nicholasville; one son, James Lyndsey Scott Robinson, of Nicholasville; two sisters, Judy Hafley of Junction City and Joyce Robinson of Mercer County; one brother, Bobby Robinson of Mercer County and four grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 6, 2009 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Stuart Dawson officiating. Burial will be in the Bluegrass Memorial Gardens in Nicholasville.

Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 5 from 5 – 8 p.m. and Friday prior to Service at Ransdell Funeral Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates.

RONNIE YOUNG

Ronnie D. Young, 68, of Harrodsburg died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009 in Harrodsburg.

Born April 15, 1940 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Carl W. and Virginia Bottoms Young and was the husband of Jana Grayson.

He worked at Heritage, PNC and Lawrenceburg National Banks and was a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: two sons, Chris (Gina) Young of Lexington and Patrick Young of Columbus, OH; a step mother, Brunell Sanders Young of Harrodsburg; three grandchildren and two step grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a wife, Patricia Wynn Young and an infant daughter, Virginia Rae Young.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 5 at the Spring Hill Cemetery with Phil Williams officiating.

Honorary pallbearers are Roger Nooe, Gary Houchins, Joe Stevens, Alvis Johnson, Don Notter, Don Billy Yates, Tebbs Moore, Tony Robinson and Gene Yates.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation, 1795 Alysheba Way, Lexington, KY 40509.

GENEVA THOMAS

Geneva “Shorty” Sutton Thomas, 85, of Mackville, passed away at 2:45 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital Extended Care Unit in Harrodsburg.

She was born June 14, 1923 in Washington County, to the late Herbert “Pete” and Fannie Keeling Sutton.

Preceding her in death was her husband, LeRoy Thomas on April 2, 1988, a brother, J. H. Sutton and a sister, Pauline Sutton Fenwick.

Mrs. Thomas was a member of the Mackville Baptist Church and of the Thompsonville Baptist Church. She owned and operated Shory’s Beauty Shop in Mackville for 22 years.

She is survived by a son, Raymond “PeeWee” Nally of Springfield; three daughters, Drecilla (Douglas) Hatchett of Glasgow, Marlene (Jackie) Griffey of Cornishville and Charlotte (Jimmy) Devine of Willisburg; two brothers, Vernon Binford (Jackie) Sutton and Howard J. (Maxine) Sutton, both of Lawrenceburg; 10 grandchildren, Jaleen Robinson of Lamar, Arkansas, Maureen Moore of Harrodsburg, Kimberly Owens of Lexington, Gevette Riggs of Lebanon, Kirsten Roderick of Glasgow, Lynette Freeman of Cornishville, Naleesha Johnson and D. J. Devine, both of Willisburg and 20 great-grandchildren

The funeral was held Monday, Feb. 2, 2009 at the Carey and son Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Readnour, former pastor of the Mackville Baptist Church officiating. He was assisted by Rev. Brad King, pastor of the Bethel Baptist Church. Burial was in Peter Cemetery in Mackville.

Pallbearers were D. J. Devine, Craig Bishop, Russell Owens, Christ Roderick, Brent Robinson, David Moore, Jimmy Freeman, Russ Johnson, Andy Matthingly and Jody Riggs.

Honorary pallbearers were Gwen Mattingly, Jaleen Robinson, Maureen Moore, Kimberly Owens, Gevette Riggs, Kristen Roderick, Lynette Freeman and Naleesha Johnson.

Carey and Son Funeral Home in Springfield was in charge of arrangements.

WILLIAM BOTTOMS

William Madison Bottoms, 76, of Mackville, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.

Born April 11, 1932 in Washington County, he was the son of the late Gilbert and Madge Wilson Bottoms and was the husband of Willie Frances Hendren Bottoms.

He was a member of the Deep Creek Baptist Church, an Army veteran and a retired truck driver.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: one daughter, Jeannie Warner of Frankfort; two sons, David Bottoms of Dry Ridge and Allen (Karen) Bottoms of Campbellsville; three brothers, Ernest Lee Bottoms of Edmonton, Carroll Dean (Ingrid) Bottoms of DeKalb, IL and Leon (Blonnie Jean) Bottoms of Lawrenceburg; two sisters, Brenda (Wathen) Barr of Mt. Washington and Florence (Benny) Brasham of Oklahoma; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Emma Cheatham and six brothers, Thurman, Wilson, Jim, Loraine, Addison and Cecil Bottoms.

The funeral was held Wednesday, Feb. 4 at the Carey and Son Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Readnour and Charles Knecht officiating. Burial was in the Peter Cemetery at Mackville with full military rites by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.

Pallbearers were David Bottoms, Derek Bottoms, Jim Smith, Freddie Bottoms, Ed Preston, Keith Peavler and Billy Yankey.

Carey and Son Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

THELMA BROWN

Thelma A. Brown, 89, of Brodhead, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009 at the Rockcastle Health and Rehabilitation Facility in Brodhead.

Born Aug. 13, 1919 in Quail, she was the daughter of the late Aiden Lovell Owens and Bertha Elizabeth Scott Owens and was the widow of E. J. Brown.

She was a member of the Fairview Church of Christ and a member of the Quail Homemakers for 50 Years.

Survivors include: one daughter, Norietta Thompson of Brodhead; one son, James A. "Jimmy" (Sarah) Brown of Harrodsburg; two sisters, Irene Brown of Advance, IN and Edith Smith of Cincinnati, OH; one sister in-law, Gerry Owens of Advance, IN; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Aiden Lovell Owens, Jr. and a son in-law, Donald Thompson.

The funeral was held Monday, Feb. 9, 2009 at the Fairview Church of Christ with Bro. Curt Herrington officiating. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery.

VIVIAN CLICK

Vivian Frances Click, 82, of Harrodsburg, widow of W. J. Click, died Saturday, February 7, 2009 at the Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born April 30, 1926 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Lee and Margaret Matherly Roney.

She was a retired standard operations procedure clerk for Corning Glass after 35 years. She was a life-long member of the Deep Creek Baptist Church, also a member of Widow to Widow, Light and Lively and an active volunteer.

Survivors include: two sons, Ronnie (Delores) Click and Rickie (Wanda) Click, both of Harrodsburg; three grandchildren, Rhonda Whitaker, Rory Click and John Click, eight great grandchildren, one great grandchild and two nieces.

She was predeceased by a sister, Joyce Logue, and two grandsons, Randy and Rodney Click.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, February 9, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Hillary Claypool with burial in Deep Creek Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Rory Click, John Click, Billy Matherly, Jeremey Bowen, Billy Whitaker and Rhonda Whitaker.

Honorary bearers were Lettie Harlow, Roxie Jackson, Jackie Reed, Jan Coulter and Darlene Bowen.

MARY EASTERLING

Mary Virginia Sims Easterling, 87 of Middletown, OH, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2009.

Born Oct. 2, 1921 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of Finis J. and Cora Mae Gritton Sims and was the widow of Homer J. Easterling.

Survivors include: two daughters, Virginia E. (Jerry Cross) Billings of Middletown and Rose M. (Bob) Allen of Hendersonville, TN; two sons, Homer J. Easterling, Jr. and Ralph K. (Corrine) Easterling, both of Middletown; one step-daughter, Donna Maggard of Whitesburg; one sister, Laura Wright of Cornishville; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Cecil, Clyde Sr., Hasshell and Everett Sims, and a sister, Dora Lowe.

The funeral was held Friday, Feb. 6, 2009 at the Miltonville Baptist Church with Pastor Eric Brazelton officiating. Burial was at the Dayton National Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with expenses.

LINDA HASAN-HAMAD

Linda May Hasan-Hamad, 42, of Canton, GA, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009 at the Northside Hospital Cherokee in Canton.

Born Feb. 19, 1966, she was the daughter of Mazie Tucker Grubbs, Danville and the late Jesse Donald Grubbs and was the wife of Mohammad Hasan-Hamad.

In additon to her mother and husband, survivors include: one son, Aaron Houp of Canton, GA; one daughter, Arial Houp of Canton, GA; two brothers, James Grubbs of Danville, and Donald Grubbs of Harrodsburg; four sisters, Anita Montgomery and Cathy Grubbs, both of Danville, Pam Hatter of Mitchellsburg and Dianna McPherson, Harrodsburg.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Bro. Mark Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel.

TONNE PIERCE

Tonne Lynn Pierce, 69 of Somerset, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Britthaven of Somerset.

She was born on August 29, 1939 in Bloomington, IL, the daughter of the late William Harold and Zula Ping Lanham.

She was a beautician and of the Church of God faith. Ms. Pierce volunteered for Widow-to-Widow Support Group and was active in the community. She enjoyed piano music, gardening, crafts, and her family.

Survivors include: one son, George R. (Mariane) Jones of Burgin; two daughters, Donna (Jeffrey) Beavers of Burnside and Reva (Sean) Marcum of Somerset; and three grandchildren, Jacob Marcum, Harvest and Jeremy Beavers.

Preceding her in death were her parents, William and Zula Lanham.

A funeral service was conducted Monday, February 9, at the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home in Somerset with Dr. Greg Ryan officiating. Burial was in Somerset Cemetery.

JAMES PITTMAN JR.

James Robert Pittman Jr., 42, Lebanon, died Jan. 26, 2009, at Norton Hospital in Louisville.

Pittman was born March 7, 1966 in Louisville.

He was preceded in death by: his father, James Robert Pittman Sr.

Survivors include: his mother, Anna M. Pittman of Lebanon; a daughter, Stormy Colvin of Campbellsville; two brothers, Steven and Charles Pittman, both Lebanon; four sisters, Bobbie Jo Brown of Gainesville, Fla., Debra Rose Bottoms of Harrodsburg, Carol Sue Foster of Gainesville, Fla., and Kimberly Ann Pittman of Harrodsburg.

Funeral services were held Jan. 31 at Bosley Funeral Home, Lebanon, with burial in Elder Cemetery in Casey County. Rev. Larry Moore officiated.

Pallbearers were Robert Cox, Robert Raikes, John Bottoms, Ray Dodson, Willie Shepperson, Richard Brown and Roger Seals.

Bosley Funeral Home, Lebanon, was in charge of arrangements.

ZACHARY TAYLOR

Zachary Lee Taylor, 34, of Brodhead, passed away Monday, February 9, 2009 .

He was born on July 28, 1974 in Mt. Vernon, a son of L. P. and Gracie "Dolly" Payne Taylor.

Zachary was an antique dealer whose hobbies and interest include guns, baseball cards, comics, old toys, records and music.

Survivors include: his fiancé Patricia Begley of Brodhead; his parents, L. P. and Gracie "Dolly" Taylor of Brodhead; step son, Kevin Begley of Brodhead; a brother, Merle Taylor (Heather) of Mt. Vernon; a sister, Susan Taylor (fiancé Matt) of Michigan; an uncle, Tom Taylor (Bev) of Somerset; aunts, Angel Taylor of Brodhead, Wanda Wilson of Eubank, Marcell Taylor of Michigan, Tina Taylor of Berea, and Irene Taylor of Harrodsburg.

He was preceded in death by three uncles, Dave and Moscoe Taylor, Jimmy Payne; an aunt, Wannie Lee Lawson, and great-aunt, Dona Givens.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009 at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals, Brodhead.
