Irma McCane Haley, 93, of Augusta, died Saturday at Columbia Hospital, Maysville.

A homemaker, she was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Augusta; Augusta American Legion Auxiliary; and Augusta Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.

Survivors include daughters, Betty Reynolds and Norma Quinlin of Augusta and Roxana Reiners of Melbourne; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with visitation 6 to 9 p.m. today at Moore and Parker Funeral Home, Augusta. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Augusta. Memorials are suggested to the church.

Corlis "Jack" Hamilton Jr., 83, of Brooksville, died Sunday at Grant Manor Nursing Home, Williamstown.

He was a farmer and a security guard for Provident Bank Building, Cincinnati.

His son, Louise Earl Hamilton, died in 1969. Survivors include a brother, Hughie Elmo Hamilton of Foster; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth, with visitation from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Brooksville Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Jewish Hospital Geriatric Psychiatric Unit, 3200 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati 45229.

Vella L. Johnston, 98, of Butler, died Sunday at River Valley Nursing Home, Butler.

She was a former teacher in Campbell County rural schools; a charter member of Fairlane Baptist Church, Grants Lick; and a past treasurer of Oakland Cemetery, Grants Lick.

Her husband, Harry M. Johnston, died in 1975. A son, Clyde Johnston, died in 1993. Survivors include a son, Howard Johnston of Butler; a sister, Beulah Prim of Alexandria; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Peoples Funeral Home, Grants Lick, and at 10 a.m. before services Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Fairlane Baptist Church, Alexandria and Herringer pikes, Grants Lick 41001.

Jay L. Parton, 31, of Burlington, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington.

He was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church, Lakeside Park, and a former member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

Survivors include his parents, Jerry and Nancy Parton of Villa Hills; a daughter, Harley Jaye Parton of Bellevue; a brother, Wesley Parton of Bowling Green; sisters, Wendy Butler of Chicago and Jill Baeten of Gallatin County; grandparents, Mary Ann Parton of Erlanger and Virginia Vielhauer of Cincinnati.

Services will be at noon Tuesday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow, with visitation at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to the church building fund, 2551 Dixie Highway, Lakeside Park 41017, or St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, 401 E. 20th St., Covington 41014.

Nadine Cummins Shoemaker, 61, of Williamstown, died Saturday at her home.

She was a nurse with St. Elizabeth Medical Center Grant County, Williamstown, and a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, Alexandria and Williamstown Chapter No. 301 Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband, Melvin E. Shoemaker; daughters, Debbie Souder Penick of Dry Ridge and Teri Taylor and Jody Howard of Williamstown; sons, Michael Shoemaker of Williamstown and Mickey Shoemaker of Crittenden; a brother, Richard Dwain Cummins of Covington; and 10 grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown, with visitation from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Pythian Grove Cemetery, Berry. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.

Elmer F. Stahl, 80, of Latonia, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.

A retired General Motors em ployee, he was a deacon at Runyon Memorial Christian Church, Latonia. He was a member of the United Automobile Workers union and an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret E. Wood Stahl; a daughter, Diane Haake of Florence; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at noon Thursday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia, with visitation at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Richwood Presbyterian Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the church, 3625 Decoursey Ave., Latonia 41015.

Edward Thompson, 75, of Highland Heights, died at 5:10 p.m. Saturday at Lakeside Place Nursing Home in Highland Heights.

Patrick Lindsey, spent life aiding others

His duties were mostly financial at the Center for Chemical Addictions Treatment in Cincinnati.

But Patrick W. Lindsey never forgot why he joined the center: To help others.

"A lot of people there knew him, and he would try to help them out," said his son, Mark W. Lindsey of Alliance, Ohio. "He was always in human services, in one way or another."

Mr. Lindsey, 54, of Edgewood, died at 5:15 p.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood.

He was chief financial officer with the Hamilton County Mental Health Board for the past three months. He was former director of administrative services for the Center for Chemical Addictions Treatment, where he worked for about 10 years.

His son remembers Mr. Lindsey working during the day and attending Chase Law School at night. Mr. Lindsey received his law degree, but was never a practicing attorney. Still, he used his legal knowledge in his financial positions.

Mr. Lindsey was a Navy veteran of the Vietname War, where he served two tours with the Sea Bees, an engineering unit, in the 1960s. He was a current member of the Navy Reserve.

Mr. Lindsey and his son coached a Knothole baseball team, the Latonia Youth Club, for about seven years.

"It was a great joy for him," Mark Lindsey said.

Other survivors include his wife, Debbie Crowell-Lindsey; daughters, Bridget Lindsey and Briana Lindsey, both of Newport, and Aislinn Lindsey of Edgewood; a stepson, Chad Crowell of Edgewood; his mother, Rose Kathryn Lindsey of Edgewood; sisters, Kathy Lindsey of Edgewood and Sue Rauf of Ft. Mitchell; a brother, Dan Lindsey of Alexandria; and five grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Pius X Church, Edgewood. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Memorials are suggested to Down Syndrome Association of Greater Cincinnati, 1821 Summit, Suite 102, Cincinnati 45237, or New Perceptions, 1 Sperti Drive, Edgewood 41017.

Levonna Bradford, 99, of Butler, died Tuesday at River Valley Nursing Home, Butler.

Daniel Tyler Dahmer, 1 day, of Dayton, Ohio, died Saturday at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio.

Survivors include his parents, Christopher S. and Traci S. Bartels Dahmer of Dayton, Ohio; and grandparents, Jobie and Brenda Howard, and Shelton and Melonie Dahmer, all of Cynthiana.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Raven Creek Cemetery, Harrison County. Rogers Funeral Home, Corinth, is handling arrangements.

John Darby, 82, of Erlanger, died at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Woodland Hills Care Center in Lawrenceburg. He was an assistant baggage foreman with Cincinnati Union Terminal and a member of Constance Christian Church, Hebron. He was a member of Hebron Masonic Lodge No. 757 F&AM, Indra Consistory Scottish Rite and Brotherhood of American Railway Employees. He also was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel Snow Darby; a son, Gary Nixon of Erlanger; daughters, Janice Morgan and Phyllis Clark, both of Florence; a brother, George Allen Darby of Petersburg; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hopeful Lutheran Church Cemetery, Florence. Memorials are suggested to Constance Christian Church or Constance Church of Christ, Hebron.

Leroy Ernst, 79, of Ft. Wright, died at 9:15 a.m. Sunday at his home. He was a retired heavy equipment operator for Union Light Heat & Power Co. of Covington, and a member of Mother of God Church, Covington. He was a former school bus driver for St. Agnes School in Ft. Wright, a well-known softball pitcher and member of the Northern Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame. He also was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife Helen Winchester Ernst; daughters, Wanda Harvey of Acworth, Ga., and Margaret Hickman of Falmouth; a son, Tom Ernst of Ft. Wright; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:05 p.m. Thursday at Mother of God Church, Covington. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington. Memorials are suggested to Mother of God Church, Covington. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell.
