ROSCOE BROWN

Roscoe Brown of Salvisa died Monday, February 8, 2010 at his home. He was 67.

Born on August 19, 1942 in Casey County, he was a son of the late Walter T. and Minnie Whitis Brown.

Survivors include a sister; and a brother.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday February 11 at South Fork Cemetery by Bro. Clifford Dehart.

McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, Liberty, was in charge of arrangements.

EDITH DEARING

Edith Dearing, 88, of Harrodsburg, widow of Jessie Marvin Dearing, died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born April 26, 1921 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Ollie Mae Houchins Gabbert. She was a graduate of Cornishville High School, retired from Cricketeer and Sportleigh Hall after 37 years and was a member of the Magnolia Street Christian Church.

Survivors include: one son, Marvin Thomas Dearing and one daughter Denise Horn Spencer, both of Harrodsburg; five grandchildren, Melissa Parker, James Donald Dearing, Mandy Taylor, Jesseca Huffman and Marvin McCord; eight great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Donald Ray Dearing, one daughter, Lillie Mae McCord, and two grandsons, David Cook and Barry Lynn Dearing.

Visitation Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and after 7 a.m. Thursday at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010 at the funeral home with Terry Morrison officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with Jimmie Divine, Joe Divine, Steve Hayden, William Warrn, Richard Lewis, Brad Logan, Joe Monroe, and Kevin Horn serving as pallbearers. In addition to the active pallbearers Bubby Isham and Ronnie Million will serve as honorary pallbearers.

ZOEY DIPINO

Zoey Patricia Ann DiPino, 14 months, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010 in Harrodsburg.

Born in Homestead, FL, she was the daughter of John Alexander and Jessica Susan (Childers) DiPino IV.

Survivors include: one sister, America Belle Childers-DiPino of Harrodsburg; paternal grandmother, Ann Marie Gibby; paternal grandfather, John Alexander DiPino III, both of GA; maternal grandparents, Jerry Lee and Cynthia Sanders Childers of Cutler Bay, FL; aunt, Elizabeth Erin DiPino of GA; several great aunts and uncles.

Graveside services will be Saturday, Feb. 20 at the Butcher Cemetery in Barboursville, WV.

Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 18 after 5 p.m. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel in Harrodsburg.

LARRY GOODLETT

Larry G. Goodlett, 62, of Harrodsburg, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

Born Nov. 26, 1947 in Spencer County, he was the son of the late Lannis and Lois Christine Hilbert Goodlett. He was a farmer.

He is survived by one daughter, Melissa Anne (Rodney) Holt of Parksville; four brothers, Lannis Goodlett Jr., Clifford Goodlett, Phillip Goodlett and Tony Goodlett, all of Harrodsburg; three sisters, Janice Ammons and Connie McDonald of Harrodsburg and Marsha Thompson of Danville and one grandson.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Marilyn Goodlett and Waldine Gray.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Floying Thompson Jr. officiating.

Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until time of service Friday at the funeral home.

Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

MARY ISON

Mary L. Ison 79, died Friday, Feb. 12, 2010.

She was the daughter of the late Lovelle Turner and Sarah Owens Segar.

Survivors include: three daughters, Sarah Lewis, Jo Ann Turner and Deloris (Thomas) Booker; three sons, Raymond Turner, William “Boo” (Kay) Turner and Jeffrey Turner; 15 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara Logan, Ann Turner and a brother, Thomas Turner,

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18 at Shiloh Baptist Church with visitation after 11 a.m. O. L. Hughes and Sons Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

MARY PETERSON

Mary Ann Peterson, 82, of Loretto, died Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Windsor Gardens in Bardstown.

She was born February 26, 1927 in Harrodsburg, a daughter of the late William Andrew and Lucy Magdalene Keller McFatridge. She was the widow of Joseph Fletcher Peterson.

She was a homemaker and a member of St Charles Catholic Church in St. Mary.

Survivors include: four daughters, Margaret Ann (Robert) Caldwell and Rita Baxter, both of Louisville, Martha (Dennis) Arterburn, Scottsville, and Clara (Ronnie) Patton, East Bernstadt; 10 sons, Billy Joe (Frances) Peterson, Maysville, Louis (Donna) Peterson, Springfield, David (Mary Alice) Peterson, Rineyville, Tommy (Cinda) Peterson, Shelbyville, Paul (Kaye) Peterson, Lebanon, Eddie (Debbie) Peterson, Somerset, Steven (Donna) Peterson, Lexington, Harry (Cathy) Peterson, Paris, Jerry (Donna) Peterson and Donnie (Theresia) Peterson, both of Loretto; 30 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A funeral mass was held Tuesday, February 16 at the St. Charles Catholic Church, St. Mary’s, by Rev Brian Kenney with a vigil held Monday. Burial was in St. Charles cemetery.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Jeffrey Caldwell, Kevin Spalding, Doug Peterson, Ricky Peerson, Brad Peterson, Jason Peterson, Ben Peterson, Patrick Arterburn, Tyler Arterbun, Andrew Patton and Joseph Peterson.

Honorary pallbearers were granddaughters, Allison Jones, Melissa Spalding, Rebecca Lloyd, Kathy Peterson, Stacey Peterson, Alicia Peterson Catron Burdette, Jennifer Kimmons, Ginny Kaye Arterburn, Amanda Lester, Ashley Peterson, Elizabeth Peterson, Sharon Peterson, Susan Tungate, Anna Gail Peterson, Loretta Peterson, Kim Patton, Roseanna Peterson and Michaela Peterson.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Masses, St Charles Church Cemetery Fund or Mass of the Air, 508 Breckenridge Lane, Louisville, KY 40207.

LORRAINE SCOTT

Lorraine Scott, 89, Burgin, wife of C. B. Scott, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010 at the Charleston Health Care Center in Danville.

Born Dec. 2, 1920 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Lillie (Royalty) Leonard. She was a retired seamstress from Palm Beach and a member of the Burgin Baptist Church.

Survivors other than her husband include: one daughter, Judy (Jimmie) Hawthorne of Lexington and one brother, M. W. “Bill” Leonard of Louisville.

Funeral services were held Feb. 13 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Carl McCray officiating. Burial was in the Burgin Memorial Garden.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Burgin Baptist Church Choir.

JUNE WOODWARD

June Ann Woodward, 74, of Danville, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010, in Danville.

Born April 8, 1935, in Middletown, OH, she was a daughter of the late Harry W. and Emma L. Graff Martin. She was an RN and a member of the Rejoice Temple of Praise Church.

Survivors include: her sons, Bobby (Joyce) Woodward of Moreland, Ronnie (Janet) Woodward of Harrodsburg and Randy Woodward of Danville; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Judson Woodward and a daughter, Regina Nickles.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, 2010 at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Daugherty officiating. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be: Jason and Dave Woodward, Randy and Timmy Rose, L.D. Nickles, Gerrard Dady, Rocky Cash, and Jim Rodgers. Honorary pallbearers will be: Chris Cole, Keith Devine, Steve Nickell, Mark Lister, and Dale Hawkins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the funeral home to help offset funeral expenses.

RALPH ANDERSON

Ralph G. Anderson, 86, of Cincinnati, founder and owner of Belcan Corporation died February 13, 2010.

A native of Harrodsburg, he joined the U.S. Army Air Corps after graduating high school.

He pursued undergraduate studies at the University of Kentucky where in 1950 he received his Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering.

He was active in various historic organizations over the past 20 years in both Ohio and Kentucky. Through his efforts and financial support, over 20 buildings have been restored, 10 of which are on the National Historical Registry.

He is survived by his daughter, Candace (Mike) McCaw and three grandchildren, Jasn, Matthew and Amanda McCaw.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Ruth (Tucker) Anderson.

A celebration of his life will be held on March 2, 2010 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Kenwood Country Club. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Crystal Cathedral.

RALPH ANDERSON

Senate honors Ralph Anderson

The contributions of Mercer County native Ralph G. Anderson wee recognized and honored by the Kentucky State Senate Friday.

Sen. Joey Pendleton, D-Hopkinsville, sponsor of Resolution 152 honoring Anderson, said Anderson was a humble man, who expected nothing in return for his generosity.

“It is hard to comprehend… the many great things he did,” Pendleton said. “… He never wanted anything back. …He gave, but he never wanted anything in return.”

Pendleton, a member of the Kentucky Heritage Agriculture Center Committee and a farmer, remembered Anderson not just as humble and generous, but also as a man with a wonderful wit. The senator shared several stories about Anderson, who was the founder of Belcan in Cincinnati, OH. The company, of which he remained CEO and president until his death Feb. 13, grew into one of the country’s largest corporations.

Pendleton noted Anderson’s contributions to Mercer County, Cincinnati and the University of Kentucky. “They will miss him in Mercer County, and we will miss him in all the Commonwealth of Kentucky for the many things he did.”

The Senate adjourned Friday in honor of Anderson.

RUBY BOLIN

Ruby Jean Nicholas Bolin, 79, of Danville, died Friday, February 19, 2010 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born April 21, 1930 in Indianapolis, Indiana, she was a daughter of the late Ansel Edgar and Flossie Colyer Nicholas. She was the widow of Glen Edward Bolin after 63 years of marriage.

Ruby worked at the Palm Beach Company and later retired from the Cricketeer Company. She was a member of the Hedgeville Baptist Church.

Survivors include: one daughter, Vicki (Bruno Anthony) Albiero of Harrodsburg, and his mother, Clare Albiero; one brother, Chester (Gelia) Nicholas; and niece Virginia (Clyde) Rogers, both of Danville; three sisters, Lorraine Lewis of Burnside, Virginia (Lloyd) Shelton of FL, and Georgia Stout of Tateville; two grandsons, Bolin Allen (Diana) Bentley and Bryce Austen (Rachel) Bentley; and a great-grandson, Bryar Allen Bentley.

She was predeceased by a brother, Cecil Nichols.

An Appreciation of Life service was held Monday, February 22, at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home with Bro. Travis Farris officiating. Burial was in Danville Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Bruno Albiero, Pat Overstreet, Bo and Austen Bentley, Joe Ruby, Clyde Rogers II and Greg Robertson.

Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Don Hamner, Jimmy Lair, Dr. Anjum Bux, William VanHook, Jr. and Bro. John Cato.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Happy Paws Spay and Neuter Clinic or the UK Markey Cancer Center.
