RYAN STATON

Ryan Keith Staton, 33, of Waynesburg, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2010 at Fort Logan Hospital.

He was born in Harrodsburg on August 29, 1976, son of Darlene Judge Staton and the late Victor Staton. He was a self employed contractor and farmer.

He is survived by: his wife, Ruth Ann Whitehead Staton; his mother, Darlene Staton; one son, Cody Keith Victor Staton; one daughter, Sydney Chaynne Staton, all of Waynesburg; four brothers, Hank Judge of Stanford, Vince Staton of Hustonville, Jeff Staton of Salvisa and Shawn Staton of Waynesburg; and three sisters, Donna Staton of Harrodsburg, Teresa Gilpin of Waynesburg and Glenda Staton of McKinney.

He was preceded in death by his father, Victor Staton and one brother, Larry Staton.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 19, at the Morris & Hislope Funeral Home in Science Hill with Bro. Bert Hall officiating. Burial will be in Poplarville Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

JENNIFER TEEL

Jennifer Marie Hahn Teel, 33, of Danville, wife of Matt Teel, died Aug. 12, 2010.

Born July 12, 1977 in Denver, CO, she was the daugher of Kathy and Martin Walker and Bruce L. Hahn.

She was a homemaker and part of the body of Messiah of the Household Israel.

With her parents and husband, she is survived by: three daughters, Nina Marie, Lace Elizabeth and Ryan Danielle and by a brother and sister, Paul and Michelle Rower.

The funeral service was at the Stith Funeral Home in Junction City with Jerry Tomlinson officiating. Burial was in Parksville Cemetery.

Memorial donations are suggested to the Jennifer Teel Memorial Fund.

CLARENCE BROWN

Clarence Austin Brown, Jr., 58, of Casey County, died Friday, Aug. 20, 2010.

Born Jan. 11, 1952, he was the son of the late Clara and Clarence Brown, Sr. He served 16 years in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves. He was a retired police officer with 31 years of dedicated service to law enforcement. He served on the Liberty and Hustonville Police departments, as Crab Orchard police chief, Lincoln County deputy sheriff, in the Harrodsburg Police Department and as a Harrodsburg Detective. He was also a Crab Orchard volunteer firefighter, an EMT for East End Ambulance Service and a Lincoln Co. deputy coroner.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Millie Brown; three sons, Keith (Jenifer) Brown of Stanford, David (Paula) Brown of Stanford and Travis Brown of Casey County; three brothers, James Lynn and Joe and Dale Brown; four sisters, Boonie Jaderich, Rose Dees, Dorothy Carman and Sherry Applegate and six grandchildren.

Services were held Tues., Aug. 24 at W. L. Pruitt Funeral Home with Bro. Dan Gutenson officiating. Burial was in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Ernie Keltey, Garry Bradshaw, Jessie Arnold, Jay Eldridge, Keith Smith and Leslie Williams. Honorary Pallbearers were Harold Cunnagin, Rodney Harlow, Jessie Harris and Steve Lambert.

PATRICIA COLLIER

Patricia Ann Sallee Collier, 66, wife of David T. Collier, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

Born Dec. 23, 1943 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Edgar and Nannie Frances Powell Sallee. She was a retired teacher’s aide with the Harrodsburg School System and a charter member of Grace Baptist Church.

Survivors other than her husband include: two sons, David Wayne Collier and John Thomas Collier, both of Harrodsburg; adopted daughter, Grace Aziansi of Togo, Africa; sister-in-law, Sandy Sanders of Mercer County and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Pastors Kent Clark, Mark Williams and Bill Eldridge officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with Alvis Johnson, Glenn Peavler, Frank Kemplin, Troy Roberts, Chad Vaughn, Nicky Yeast, Genie Sims and Steve Bertram serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy Daugherty, Jack Pearson, Don Pennington, Cue Phillips, Steven Ransdell, Jr., Larry Patterson, Bob Lewis, Gary Griffieth, Harold Baker, Nick Dedman and Lindsay Campbell.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 7 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Compassion International, Colorado Springs, CO 80997.

ANITA DUNN

Anita Frances “Piggy” Dunn, 55, died Monday, Aug. 23 at The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born Jan. 31, 1955, she was a daughter of Ruby White Dunn and the late Herbert Dunn, Sr.

She is survived by her mother, Ruby White Dunn; one son, Andrew Thomas Dunn and nine siblings, Raymond Dunn, Charlotte (Freddie) Wyckoff, Sheridan (Norris) McKee, Gwendolyn (Clarence) Brewer, Doris Kirk, Janice Dunn, Dorothy (Richard) Hart, Linda Dunn and Donna Linton; three grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28 at Little Zion Baptist Church in Burgin. Burial will be in Robinson Roe Cemetery in Burgin

CHARLES FLECKINSTEIN

Charles Thomas Fleckinstein, 69, of Harrodsburg, husband of Patricia Kelly Fleckinstein, died Wed., August 18, 2010 at the Haggin Hospital.

Born in Lexington, he was the son of the late Stanley and Bessie Stewart Fleckinstein.

Charles retired from Hillenmeyer Nurseries after 49 years of devoted service. At the time of his death he was employed at Keeneland.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: three sons, Jerry (Marsha Vaughn) Fleckinstein, Lexington, Steven Fleckinstein, FL, and John Barton, Lexington; three daughters, Jenny (Joey) Lusby, Andrea Barton Fitch, and Lara Barton, all of Georgetown; one brother, Rick (Gail) Fleckinstein, Nicholasville; 14 grandchildren, Stanley, Elizabeth, Jacob, and Julia Fleckinstein, John Fleckinstein, Thomas Barton, Sam, Bryan and Adin Lusby; Ashley (Cody) Chatham, Drew, Charlie, and Tyler Fitch, and Lukas Curtsinger; and his beloved dog, Bo.

He was preceded in death by one son, Ronald, and one sister, Peggy Bryant.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, August 21. at the Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 3421 Harrodsburg Rd., Lexington, by Judge George Lusby. Burial was in Lexington Cemetery.

Family members served as pallbearers.

LAWRENCE FRY

Lawrence “Larry” Fry, 63, of New Richmond, OH, died August 19, 2010.

He was a 1964 graduate of Walnut Hills High School and Miami University. He was an insurance agent for many years and a proud member of the NRA.

Survivors include: one brother, Harry F. (Mary Ann) Fry M.D.; one sister, Ann Fry (Donald) Highlands and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Harry L. Fry, M.D.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 25 at E. C. Nurre Funeral Home in New Richmond. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

RUTH GOLDSTEIN

Ruth Browning Snyder Goldstein, 84, widow of Robert Goldstein, died July 30, 2010, at the Presbyterian Home in Quitman, GA.

Born Sept. 20, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Hobart and Maud Browning of Burgin.

She was married to Clinton Snyder of Harrodsburg for 15 years.

Survivors include: three daughters, Sylvia Jean and twins Judy Dale and Trudy Gayle; a brother, H. G. Browning of Van Nuys, CA.; two grandchildren, two great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She had one sister, Virginia (Virgie) Doler, who preceded her in death.

A ceremony celebrating Ruth’s life will be held in Anna Maria, FL at a future date.

WILLIAM LANE

William Larry Lane, 60, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010 at his home in Lexington.

Born May 27, 1950 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Thomas E. and Wanda Mary (Shirley) Lane. He was a letter carrier for the U. S. Postal Service and served in the Army Reserve.

Survivors include: two daughters, Windy (Joshua Curtis) Lane of Lexington; Angelia Christine (Joe) Warren of Lexington; three brothers, John David Lane and Bentley Lane of Harrodsburg and Dr. James Carter Lane of Cleveland, TN and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Aug. 22 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with John Kesel officiating. Burial was in the Ebenezer Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Clayton Lane, Dax Lane, Jonathan Lane, Joseph Lane, Morgan Lane, Ryan Lane and Donnie Haase.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice of the Bluegrass or Ebenezer Church of Christ.

MARY MILNER

Sister Mary Jovita Milner, 89, an Ursuline Sister of Mount Saint Joseph, died Aug. 24.

She was born in Platteville, Colo., and grew up in Grayson County.

An educator for more than 50 years, she taught at St. Andrew School in Harrodsburg from 1959-1962. She also taught in the Diocese of Owensboro, the Archdiocese of Louisville, and in New Mexico.

Survivors include a sister, Marcella Smith of Whiteland, IN; an adopted brother, the Rev. Peter Hsu, of China and several nieces and nephews.

A wake service will be held at 8 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 26 at St. Bartholomew Parish in Louisville, followed by Mass at 11 a.m. Ratterman Funeral Home of Louisville is in charge of arrangements. A wake will be held at Mount Saint Joseph at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26 with visitation beginning at 4 p.m. in the Motherhouse Chapel. The funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 27. Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory in Owensboro is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph, 8001 Cummings Road, Maple Mount, KY 42356.

VIRGINIA PHILLIPS

Virginia “ Penny” Elizabeth Phillips, age 84, Harrodsburg, widow of William E. Phillips, died Tuesday, Aug. 24.

Born Jan. 15, (1926 in Delphi, IN) she was the daughter of the late Elvin and Susie Louise (Mitchell) Slaughter. She was a Haggin Hospital nurse and a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include: two daughters: Sally Sue Isham of Harrodsburg and Joyce (Frank) Yocum of Burgin; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel with burial in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers are: Monty Trower, Todd Palmer, Arvie Mudd, Scott Clay, Lamont Linton, Eddie Young, Phillip Young, Tony Young, Michelle Clay, Melissa Linton, Clay Bradford, and Ashley Isham.

Visitation will be Thursday from 5 - 8 at Ransdell Funeral Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 411, Harrodsburg KY 40330.

COURTNEY TUNNELL

Courtney Leigh Tunnell, 20, of Lawrenceburg, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2010 at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center.

Born Aug. 24, 1989 in Lexington, she was the daughter of Regina Leigh (Orwig) Tunnell of Lawrenceburg and the late Randy Tunnell. She was a member of the Claylick Methodist Church in Salvisa.

Other survivors include: maternal grandparents, Loyd and Rebecca Clem of Salvisa; paternal grandfather, George Tunnell of Lexington; three aunts, Kathy (Billy) Nevius of Harrodsburg, Rhonda Beasley of Salvisa and Debra (Victor) Parr of Corinth and one uncle, Randy (Vickie Arnold) Orwig of Salvisa.

She was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Harley Lewis Orwig.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 21 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Carol Whiting officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Chad Beasley, Damon Beasley, Randy Orwig, and Blake King. Honorary bearers were: Jennifer Johnson and Angie Bragg.
