GEORGE ROGERS
George C Rogers, 87, of Danville, husband of Geraldine Alberta Harris Rogers, died Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville.
Born January 5, 1923 in Corning, NY, he was the son of the late Charles and Josephine (Roloson) Rogers.
He served in the Army during World War II. He was a supervisor for Corning and a member of the American Legion, VFW and the Episcopal Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Geraldine Alberta (Harris) Rogers; one daughter, Patricia (Carroll) Perkins and one son, George Rogers; three grandchildren, Linda Coontz, Melissa Weissrock and Lee Anne Brogle; six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 11, in Spring Hill Cemetery
by Terry Taylor.

BILLY BRADSHAW
Billy Gene Bradshaw, 82, husband of Flossie Brown Bradshaw, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born January 9, 1928 in Burgin, he was the son of the late James Walter and Lincoln Bottoms Bradshaw. He was a retired Maintenance Supervisor for Kentucky Utilities E.W. Brown Plant, was a Navy Veteran having served in the Korean War, a member of the Burgin Baptist Church, former Burgin School Board Member, former Burgin City Council member, and was a Mason.
Survivors besides his wife include two sons: Mark (Emma) Bradshaw and Brian (Kim) Bradshaw both of Danville. Four grandchildren, one great- grandchild, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by two brothers Louis and James Bradshaw.
Funeral services were conducted at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Revs. Al Gisler and Carl McRay officiating. Burial with military Honors was in Burgin Memorial Gardens with Bob Webb, Jack Coleman, Jr., Bobby Burton, Eddie Russell, Roy Lee Sanders, and Fred VanArsdall serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Don Billy Rogers, Jack Johnson, David Sims, David Feeback, Bob Davenport, and Bob Thompson.

FRANCES COFFMAN
Frances S. Coffman, 77, of Harrodsburg, widow of Homer Coffman, died Sunday, August 29, 2010.
Born February 2, 1933 in Boyle County, she was the daughter of the late Jim and Tine Burger Strevels.
She was a retired employee of the Methodist Hospital Of Indianapolis and a member of the Pleasant Run Baptist Church.
Survivors include: two sisters, Tina Logue of Harrodsburg, and Ruth King of Parksville, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Jimmy Strevels, Jr., Jack Strevels, and a sister, Mary Belle King.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, August 31, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Junior Fields with burial in Danville Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Michael Logue, James Strevels, Wayne King, Donnie King, Ed Noel and Patrick Alcorn.
Honorary bearers were Ed Neal, Dwayne Alcorn, Rick Cantrell and Bryon Strevels.

GLADYS GREEN
Gladys Elizabeth Green, 85, Harrodsburg, widow of Harden Green, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born Aug. 20, 1925 in Ellwood City, PA, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Elizabeth Kloos Melzer. She was a retired LPN with the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital and a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the LWML and the Harrodsburg Historical Society and Mercer Homemakers.
Survivors include: three daughters; Wendy (Mike) Camic of Harrodsburg, Heather (Henry) Donavan of Pocasset, MA, Cynthia (Stephen Harris) Green of Columbia, MO and two sons; Harden (Cindy) Green, and Robert (Linda) Green, both of Harrodsburg, one sister; Dorothy Mraz of Cumming, GA, and one brother; James Melzer of New Castle, PA; 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by siblings; Loretta Melzer, and Robert Melzer.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, September 1 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Danville, by Pastor David Witten.
Burial was in the Locust Grove Cemetery
in Ellwood, PA.

A service will be held at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ellwood, PA, 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010. Visitation is at the Turner Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. on Friday.
BETTY JAMES
Betty Jo Miller James, 76, of Lawrenceburg, widow of Marion F. James, died Thursday, August 26, 2010, at her home after an illness.
She was born in Anderson County to the late Alfred Jackson and Mary Elizabeth Doss Miller.
She was an employee of the Louisville Store for 12 years. Betty was a sitter to many children for 27 years; and was a 1952 graduate of Anderson High School.
She is survived by: one daughter, Mary Elizabeth James; one brother-in-law, Herk Caruthers; one sister-in-law, Kathleen Miller; her dear friend, Kitty Bowen, all of Lawrenceburg; an adopted daughter, son, and grandchildren, Stacy, Billy, Austin, and Tyler West, all of Mercer County; three nieces and three nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Alice Caruthers, and a brother, William Fields Miller.
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 29, 2010 at the Gash Memorial Chapel with Dr. Robert F. Ehr officiating. Burial was in Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
Casketbearers were Larry Duncan, Mike Detherage, Mike Russell, Eddie Russell, Jason Black, Larry Smith, Bobby Hill and John Ray.

JOE LEWIS
Joe Allan Lewis, 65, of Hamlin Way, Lawrenceburg, passed away at 1:22 p.m., Friday, August 27, 2010 at the Hospice Care Center of St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
A native of Washington County, he was born on Nov. 20, 1944 to the late Hubert and Mary Cornish Lewis.
He was a member of the Salvisa Baptist Church, a member of the J. Speed Smith Masonic Lodge #298 of Willisburg, and a retired employee of the General Electric Company of Louisville.
Preceding him in death were a daughter, Cheri Lynn Lewis on March 13, 1987; and two half-sisters, Mary Lottie Carney on Nov. 25, 2004 and Surene Lewis on May 24, 1977.
Survivors include: his wife, Angela Satterly Lewis; two sons, Troy Lewis of Sandy Hook and Timmy (Trish) Lewis of Willisburg; a stepson, Tracey (Dana) Royalty of Lawrenceburg; a stepdaughter, Jill (Mike) Preston of Salvisa; seven grandchildren, Michaela Lewis, Kathryn Lewis, Chandler and Jonathan Royalty, and Chance, Chelsea and Camryn Preston; two brothers, Charles (Mary) Lewis of Springfield and John (Peggy) Lewis of Willisburg; a half-brother, Ben (Nellie) Haydon of Bardstown; and two half-sisters, Ruth Humes of Willisburg and Jewell Lewis of Springfield.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 30, at the Carey & Son Funeral Home, Springfield, with Rev. Jason Clark, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Athens, TN officiating. He was assisted by Rev. Chris Brown, pastor of the Salvisa Baptist Church, and Rev. Tracey Royalty, associate pastor of the First Baptist Church of Lawrenceburg. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery
at Willisburg.
Serving as pallbearers were James May, Cliff Prewitt, Joe Wohner, Bobby Skimmerhorn, Mike Kays and Eric Furman.
Masonic services were held Sunday evening at Carey & Son Funeral Home, with Billy Riggs delivering the eulogy.
Carey & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
DEVIN MCCRYSTAL
Devin Lane McCrystal, infant son of Lee Eric and Trasia Jane Spears McCrystal of Lexington, died Wed., Aug. 25, 2010, at the UK Medical Center. He was born June 16, 2010 in Lexington.
Other survivors include: two brothers, Brayden and Ethan McCrystal of Lexington; paternal grandparents, Rick and Tracy McCrystal of Somerset, and Jody Stewart of Columbus, OH; maternal grandparents, Lisa and Allen Reynolds of Somerset, and Jeff and Jackie Schulkers of Cincinnati, OH; paternal great-grandparents, Delores and Charles McCrystal of Harrodsburg; maternal great-grandparents, Wanda and John Moss of Somerset, and Eva and Emby Jennings of Crab Orchard.
A funeral mass was conducted Saturday, at the St. Andrew Catholic Church by Father Larry Hehman with burial in the St. Nicholas Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Caleb Lawson, Aaron Daniel, Doug Isaac, Bob Hatton, Allen Reynolds Jr., and Kent Dalton.

military RITES
Rene Gautier II of Mercer County was buried in the Camp Nelson National Cemetery
with full military honors on Oct. 19, 2010.
Gautier served as a Marine during World War II and had been serving in the South Pacific for almost two years when World War II ended.
He died at age 82, on March 24, 2007, and has since been in the Bequeathal Program of the University of Kentucky Department of Anatomy.
His remains were recently laid to rest among the many other veterans of various wars.
OMER O’CONNER, JR.
Omer O’Conner Jr., 74, of Waynesburg, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010 at the VA Hospital in Lexington. He was born March 14, 1936 in Harrodsburg, to the late Omer and Hester Taylor O’Conner. He was a health aid, an Army veteran, a 32nd degree Mason with the Franklin Lodge #28 F&AM in Danville. He was a member of the Pioneer Baptist Church in Harrodsburg. He was an avid gun collector and was a musician having played several musical instruments.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Margaret Fields O’Conner of Waynesburg; a son Michael O’Conner (Marsha) of Burnside and a daughter Angie O’Conner Coffman of Stanford; four grandchildren, a great-grandson, six nieces and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Wall and a brother, Kenneth O’Conner.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010 at Spurlin Funeral Home with Elder Murl Caudill officiating. Burial was in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. military Honors to be provided by Caswell Saulfey Post #18 American Legion.
KATHREN SMITH
Kathren Virginia Smith, 57, formerly of Harrodsburg, departed this life on Saturday, August 28th at her residence in Danville.
She was the daughter of the late Lena Dean and Sam Goodman.
Survivors include: her husband, Michael Ray Smith; four daughters, Ramona Smith, MS, Michelle Smith, CA, Clarrissa Hayes, Harrodsburg, and Precious Smith, Danville; four brothers, William Goodman, George Dean, Jr., James Robert Payne, all of Danville, and Stephon Dean, Louisville; three sisters Derlisa Dean Smith, Wendla Dean, both of Richmond, Luticia Dean, Danville; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, September 2, at 1 p.m. at Centennial Baptist Church.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday until time of services.
PRICE SMITH
Price Taylor Gentry Smith, 81, Harrodsburg, widow of Reverend Charles H. Smith Sr., died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010 at the home of her daughter. Born March 28, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Jessie and Edna Jackson Gentry. She was a domestic worker, a cashier and cook at the former Gem Drug Store, a member of the Mercer County Senior Citizens and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Harrodsburg where she served on the Usher’s Board and the Women’s Missionary Society.
Survivors include five sons; John C. Mitchell, Harrodsburg, Albert L. Mitchell, Harrodsburg, Rev. Charles (Vera) H. Smith, Jr., South Carolina, James R. Smith and Rev. Dale W. Smith, both of Harrodsburg; five daughters, Almetra (Walter) Taylor, Harrodsburg, Debra Smith Raines, Lexington, Angela “Annie” (Ben) Francis Stokes, Junction City, Laura Sue (Cornell) Hall, Texas and Bernetta Thurman, Danville; 24 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, two very special friends Josetta Smith and Gladys Walker, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by two sons, Julius Martin and Byron “Bo Bo” Smith; one daughter, Irene Vandyke; three brothers, John, Wilbur and Harold Gentry; and five sisters, Mary Francis Goodloe, Nancy White , Lena Gay, Candice Covington, and Laureen McDowell.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, Aug. 30, 2010 at the First Baptist Church by Rev. Virgil Hill.
Burial was in Camp Nelson National Cemetery
in Nicholasville.
Active bearers were Lamont Key, Yahance Melendeze, Byron Dunn, John Lamont Mitchell, Michael Smith, and James Smith.
Honorary bearers were Leon VanDyke, Steve Smith, Kenneth Jones, James R. Thurman, and Don Smith.

CLYDE STREEVAL
Clyde “Joe” Streeval of Woods Creek Road, Liberty, died Monday, August 30, 2010 at his home. He was 84.
Born in Casey County on February 22, 1926, he was the son of the late Everett and Abbie Pryer Streeval.
He was retired from Conrail Railroad of Ohio and a member of First Church of God.
Survivors include: his wife, Lucille Randolph Streeval of Liberty; four daughters, Iva Dean (Carlon) Sharp of Junction City, Connie (Butch) Taylor of Harrodsburg, and Karen (Carey) Stafford and Kristi Wills, both of Liberty; two sons, Darril (Wanda) Streeval and Ricky (Cathy) Streeval, both of Liberty; 11 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Elby Streeval of Moreland, Clifton Streeval of Washington and Charles Streeval of Adair County.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: six brothers, Leonard, Rufus, Willard, Millard, Roger and Ernest Streeval; three sisters, Vester Walls, Mary Dickerson and Lizzie Gillock; a granddaughter; and a great-granddaughter.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 1, at the McKinney-Brown Funeral Home by Bro. Marshall Malone and Bro. Coy Rigney.
Burial was in Poplar Grove Cemetery.
