LILLIE BOTTOM

Lillie Mae Chilton Bottom, 71, of Lawrenceburg, died Saturday, October 09, 2010 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.

She was born February 11, 1939 in Mercer County to the late Sadie Shelton and Horace Chilton.

She was a member of Clay Lick Methodist Church and was a retired production associate with Quebecor in Versailles.

She is survived by: her husband of 48 years, Billy L. Bottom; two sons, Donald L. Bottom and Ronald L. Bottom, both of Lawrenceburg; one sister, Onita (Ralph) Cox of Lawrenceburg.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Shannon Bottom and a sister Frances Pearson.

Funeral service was conducted Wednesday October 13, at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Studler and Frank Boyd officiating. Burial was in Lawrenceburg Cemetery.

RODMAN BURNS

Rodman "Rodney" Burns, 92, husband of Evelyn Kincaid Burns, died Thursday, October 7, 2010 at the UK Good Samaritan Hospital.

Born in Harrodsburg, he was a son of the late Roy and Mattie Burns.

He was a retired liquor store owner, member of St. Peter Catholic Church, and was a Kentucky Colonel. Mr. Burns had been an active member of St. Peter's St. Vincent DePaul, Guild of St. Paul, and was an avid fisherman.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, October 11, at the St. Peter Catholic Church. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.

JAMES DOUGHTY

James “Preston” Doughty, 73, of Harrodsburg died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010 at the Christian Care Center in Lancaster.

Born Jan. 17, 1937, he was the son of the late Jim Doughty and Marie Parker, both of London. He was a retired truck driver.

He is survived by four sons: Mark (Tammy) Doughty, Marvin (Alisha) Doughty, Boots (Sheri) Doughty all of Harrodsburg and Mike Doughty of Knoxville, TN.

Other survivors include three sisters: Joyce (Wendell) Brown of London, Joan (Ralph) Byrley of Critten and Billy Jean of Flat Lick.

Funeral arrangements are to be made with Bowling and Sons Funeral home in London.

RICHARD DRURY

Daryl Drury, 68, of Bloomfield, formerly of Mercer County, died Monday, Oct. 11, 2010 at the Flaget Memorial Hospital, Bardstown.

Born May 2, 1942 in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Herman and Eula Faye Harlow Drury. He was a retired construction worker and served in the U. S. Air Force.

Survivors include: his wife, Kathleen Yates Drury; one daughter, Becky Jones of Frankfort; two sons, Gary Drury of Harrodsburg and Chris Drury of Frankfort; two sisters, Frances Wilkins of Versailles and Bonita Tingle of Mercer County; two brothers, Leon Drury of Campbellsville and Vernon Drury of Lawrenceburg; two step sons, Tony Milburn and Joey Milburn both of Bloomfield; two step daughters, Robin Osborne of Bloomfield and Kellie Burns of Chaplain; seven grandchildren; six step grandchildren; one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ellen Frances Moore Drury.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 14 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel. Services will be conducted by John Richardson. Burial will be in the Bethel Baptist Cemetery with military rites.

Pallbearers are: Josh Jones, Chris Drury, Tyler Drury, Adam Drury, Kenny Allen Moore, Ryan Osborne.

Visitation will be Wednesday, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel.

MARY ROSE HARLEY

Pallbearers for the funeral of Mary Rose Harley, held on Oct. 7, 2010 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel were: Lonnie Harley, Marshall Sims Jr., David Coleman, Jim Moore, Lowell Peavler and Mike VanDyke.

Honorary bearers were Hope Hayden and the employees of the Old Fort Harrod State Park.

MARJORIE SHIELDS

Marjorie Jean “Jeannie” Baxter Shields, 77, of Lawrenceburg died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010 at Frankfort Regional Medical Center. She is survived by her husband of over 59 years, Hubert Shields. Born in Anderson County on Sept. 14, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Sarah Phillips Baxter and Luther Baxter, Sr.

She was a member of First Christian Church of Lawrenceburg, the Victory Sunday school class, and the Lillard Circle. She worked in the lunchroom at Saffell Street Elementary School. Before retiring, she worked in the Human Resources department as a supervisor for Kentucky State Government.

She is also survived by two children: a daughter Sherrill (Wayne) Stockton of Lawrenceburg and a son Doug (Cherie) Shields of Union; her stepmother, Ella Belle Baxter of Lawrenceburg; four grandchildren: two stepgrandchildren: and five great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Kathy Shields and her brother Luther Baxter, Jr.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 15, 2010 at First Christian Church of Lawrenceburg with Rev. Jim Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Gash Memorial Chapel and after 9 a.m. at the church.

Contributions may be made to First Christian Church, 300 South Main Street, Lawrenceburg, KY 40342.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Shields, Tommy Shirley, Doug Stockton, David Stockton, Wayne Richard, Bruce Lane, and Bobby Sparrow. Honorary bearers will be Frieda Walker, Jane Crowder, Ann Richard, and Gloria Newton.

WESLEY SUTTON

Wesley Franklin Sutton, 76, of Lawrenceburg, died Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Heritage Hall Health & Rehab Center.

He was born June 17, 1934 in Anderson County to the late Alberta Peyton and John Wesley Sutton.

He was a former truck driver with Lawrenceburg Transfer, hauled cattle for Kenneth Holt, and was an avid U.K. Basketball fan.

He is survived by: five children, Modena (Tim) Branson, Dawn (Billy Powell) Catlett, Chris (Marion) Sayre, all of Lawrenceburg, Brittany (Jon) Price of Hamilton, AL, and Shane Sutton of Lawrenceburg; four grandchildren; a brother, David (Nellie) Sutton of Shelbyville; five sisters, Juanita Jewell of Louisville, Cecila (Tom) Darland and Carol Moore of Harrodsburg, Emma Swafford of Louisville, and Audrey Freeman of California.

Including his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandchild and a sister, Elizabeth Sutton.

A memorial service led by his daughter Brittany was held Thursday, October 7, at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home in Lawrenceburg.

Mr. Sutton was cremated.

MANUEL WEST JR.

Manuel “June” West, Jr., 65, of West Buford Street in Lancaster, passed away Saturday, October 9, 2010 at his residence.

Born November 26, 1944 in Garrard County, he was a son of the late Emanuel & Marie Mitchell West.

He was a retired employee of People’s Furniture Store and a member of Pleasant Run Baptist Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Lois Burnside West; six sons, Christopher Scott of Lancaster, Michael Andre of Burgin, Phillip Lamont of Harrodsburg, Jeffrey Linn of Lancaster, James Randall of Louisville, Christopher of Lexington; one daughter, Maria-Katherine of Danville. He is also survived by two sisters, Juanita West Key and Ruby LaVerne West, both of Lancaster, 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. Friday , October 15, at the St. Paul Predestinarian Baptist Church by Rev. Patrick Alcorn with burial following in Duncantown Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Rob Boatley, Steven Baker, Tony Palmer, Ricky Kavanaugh, Tom McPherson and Jimmy Newcomb and honorary bearers will be nephews.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Ramsey Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

ANETTA ZGLESZEWSKI

Annetta Hogg Zgleszewski, 94, of East Fork Road, Harrodsburg, passed away at 6:46 p.m., Monday, Oct. 4, 2010 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center in Harrodsburg.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Walter Zgleszewski.

Survivors include: three daughters, Jacqueline McCall of Birdsboro, PA, Suzanne “Sue” Doud of Danville and Rose Keahey of Mackville; one son, Francis “Frank” Zgleszewski of Newark, DE.

A graveside service was held Saturday, October 9 in Peter Cemetery in Mackville with Rev. Terry Taylor, pastor of the St. Phillips Episcopal Church, officiating.

Serving as pallbearers were Jim Keahey, J. B. Keahey, Kevin Burdine, Justin Burdine, Jacob Burdine and Paul Edward McCall.

Carey & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

JOAN BLANKENSHIP

Joan Blankenship, 72, of Harrodsburg, wife of Joe Blankenship, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010 at her home in Harrodsburg.

Born May 1, 1938 in Switzerland County, IN, she was the daughter of the late Joseph N. and Pearl (Stone) Wilson. She was a homemaker and a member of the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church.

Survivors other than her husband include: a daughter: Melanie (Roger) Mork of Cheyenne, WY and a son: Jeff (Debbie) Blankenship of Harrodsburg, KY; one brother: Mike Wilson of Elyria, OH; two grandchildren and 13 nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Oct. 20, 2010 at the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church officiated by Ken Klemme. Burial was in the Union Chapel Cemetery, Scottsville.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Heritage Hospice, P.O. Box 1213, Danville, KY 40422 or the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church, 102 South Chiles Street, Harrodsburg, KY 40330.

RUEL BAKER

Ruel Calvin Baker, 85, died Monday, Oct. 18, 2010 at the Hospice Care Center in Lexington. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Doris Votaw Baker.

Born Nov. 20, 1924 he was a native of Washington County. He was the son of the late Lonie D. and Mary Young Baker and was a member of the East End Church of Christ. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II in Japan.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons: Charles Baker of Dallas, TX and Michael (Kim) Baker of Lexington; two daughters, Sharon (Ron) Terry and Kathy (Steve) Saunders of Lexington; two brothers, Harvey (Nancy) Baker of Lawrenceburg and Maurice (Joyce) Baker of Tucson, AZ; a sister-in-law, Marsola Baker of Harrodsburg along with seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Everett Baker and two sisters, Nona Nobley and Alma Coslow.

Services will be Friday, Oct. 22, at 9:30 a.m. at the Kerr Brothers Funeral Home in Lexington with Danny McKibben, Phillip Shumake and Don Votaw presiding. Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 21, from 5 to 9 p.m. He will be buried in Camp Nelson Cemetery. Carey and Son Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

SARAH BAKER

Sarah Kathryn Royalty Baker, 92, died Monday, Oct. 18, 2010 at the Franciscan Health Care Center.

Born December 4, 1917 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Timothy E. and Etta Pinkston Royalty and the wife of the late Richard Baker.

Survivors include: a son, Sherrill (Judy) Baker of Louisville; three grandchildren and two great-grandsons.

Services will be Thursday, Oct. 21, at 11 a.m. at the Carey and Son Funeral Home in Springfield. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Peter Cemetery in Mackville.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mackville Community Center.

MARY COYLE

Mary Ellen Coyle, 67, wife of Kenny W. Coyle of Harrodsburg died Friday, Oct. 15, 2010 at her residence. Born Dec. 14, 1942 in Washington , D.C., she was the daughter of the late Berlin Bedford Rider and Mabel Reynolds Coyle. She was a twenty year employee of Hall Mack where she worked in the shipping department. She was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband Mary is survived by one daughter: Jerri Maria (William) Carter of Mercer County, one brother: John W. Rider of Mercer County, two grandchildren, one niece and two nephews.

Funeral services held Oct. 19, 2010 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Billy Brown and Gary Story officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery with John W. Rider, Jr., Lee Patterson, John W. Rider, III, Rosalyn Drury, Scott Noland, Maurice Baker, Jr. and Roger McCarter serving as Pallbearers.

Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to Heritage Hospice, 120 Enterprise Drive, Danville, KY 40422

RANDELL DARNELL

Randell C. Darnell, 74, died Oct. 5, 2010 in Fort Worth, TX. He was the son of the late John and Ethel Darnell and was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Darnell of Shreveport, LA.

He is survived by a daughter: Andra (Louie) Anrenas of Ft. Worth, TX; a brother, Luther Darnell of Vero Beach, FL: three sisters, Dorothy VanArsdall of Harrodsburg, Nancy (Oscar) Bailey of Danville and Sarah Brown of Cincinnati, OH, along with two grandsons and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Darnell of Harrodsburg and William Barnell of Vero Beach, FL, and a sister, Mildred Darnell of Vero Beach, FL.

He was buried in Shreveport, LA.
