Clarence Warner Sr.

Loving father

FRANKLIN - Services for Clarence Warner Sr., 60, will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Jones Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Jules Anderson officiating. Interment will be in Fitzgerald cemetery in Centerville.

Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. till the time of services at the funeral home chapel.

A native of Centerville and a resident of Shadyside, Mr. Warner died of natural causes at 9:20 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, at Leonard Chabert Medical Center in Houma.

Mr. Warner is survived by five sons, Clarence Warner Jr. and Carl Warner, both of New Iberia, Marcus and Keith Warner, both of Columbus, Ga., and Brian Warner of St. Louis; one daughter, Nicole Warner of New Iberia; two brothers, John Warner Jr. of Shadyside, and Andrew Lee Warner of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Gloria Warner-Clark of Morgan City, and Eulia Williams of Franklin; and 20 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lillian and John Warner Sr.; one brother, Charles E. Warner; four aunts; and two uncles.

Jones Funeral Home of Franklin is in charge of arrangements.

Edward Trahan Jr.

Services for Edward "Bud" Trahan Jr., 85, will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Peter's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Jude Halphen officiating. Interment will be in Holy Family Mausoleum.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. today until 9 p.m. at Evangeline Funeral Home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Monday until the time of services. A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. today by the Knights of Columbus Council 3425 of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.

A lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mr. Trahan died at 8:45 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2000 at a New Iberia nursing home.

Mr. Trahan was self-employed as a barber for 50 years as the owner of Trahan's Barber Shop in New Iberia. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3425, based at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, for 45 years and a member of the St. Peter's Men's Vigil.

He is survived by his wife, Heloise Trahan of New Iberia; two sons, Kenneth J. Trahan and his wife, Yolanda, of Houma and Donald E. Trahan and his wife, Stephanie, of Broussard; one daughter, Judith Trahan Dauterive and her husband Edward Dauterive III of New Iberia; one brother, Wesley J. Trahan of New Iberia; seven grandchildren: Michele Dauterive Stelly and her husband Dwain Stelly, Patrice Dauterive Landry and her husband Keith Landry, Edward A. Dauterive V, Kimberly Trahan, Jennifer Trahan, Donald Trahan II and Celeste Trahan; and five great-grandchildren, Matthew Stelly, Alix Stelly, Ryan Landry, Aryn Landry and Kady Landry.

Mr. Trahan was preceded in death by his parents, Edward E. and Alix Landry Trahan Sr.; one sister, Mrs. Irl (Laurie) Norton, and one grandson, Edward A. Dauterive IV.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Catholic High Endowment Fund, 1301 De La Salle Drive, New Iberia, LA 70560.

Pallbearers will be Donald E. Trahan II, Edward A. Dauterive V, Charles E. Norton, Michael A. Trahan, Dwain A. Stelly and Keith J. Landry.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wesley Trahan, Raymond Landry, Roy Romero, Carl Landry and Alfred Migues.

Evangeline Funeral Homes of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Leo "Chucky" Landry

Lifelong New Iberia resident

Funeral services for Leo "Chucky" Landry, 90, will begin at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at St. Peters Catholic Church, with the Rev. Guy Lemoine officiating. Interment will be in St. Peters cemetery.

Vocal selections will be sung by Jodi Bollich accompanied by Karen Guidry, organist.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today with a rosary at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral home will reopen at 8 a.m. Monday and remain open until the time of services.

A native and resident of New Iberia, he died at 2:45 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, following a heart attack.

A lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mr. Landry worked many years for Superior Iron Works and Supply. He also served as a member of the New Iberia City Council for 16 years under mayors Armand Viator and Allen Daigre. During several of those terms, Mr. Landry was honored as mayor pro tempore. He also was a member of the New Iberia Rotary Club.

During retirement, Mr. Landry helped manage Lakeside Planting Co., the family sugar cane farm operation.

He will be remembered by his family and friends for his love of people, his ready smile, his wonderful memory of events and his passion for football and salt-water fishing.

He is survived by on son, Leo D. Landry Jr., M.D,. and wife Elizabeth of Lafayette, and three grandchildren, Brett, Kate and Caroline Landry, all of Lafayette.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene DeBlanc Landry, his parents, Gab Landry and Marie DeBlanc Landry, one brother, Alphonse Landry, and two sisters, Clara Landry Roy and Mabel Landry Lourd.

The family prefers memorials to the Irene DeBlanc Landry Memorial Fund: c/o Catholic High School, 1301 De LaSalle Drive, New Iberia, 70560, or to the Episcopal School of Acadiana Capital Campaign Fund for the the construction of the new chapel, P.O. Box 380, Cade, La., 70519.

Pallbearers will be Smitty Landry, Tony Landry, Brett Landry, Ned Landry, Thomas Roy and Rodney Girard.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Landry, Dr. Roy LaSalle, Dr. Alphonse Landry, Gab Landry, Jean Michael Landry, Dennis Norris, Dudley Marie and Carroll Laperouse.

The Evangeline Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Edward Sereal

Loving son, brother

JEANERETTE - Services for Edward "Gun" Sereal, 37, will begin at 1 p.m. today at Alex Lovett Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Arthur L. Alexander officiating. Interment will be in Rising Sun cemetery.

Visitation will be until the time of services today at the funeral home.

A native of Jeanerette, Mr. Sereal died Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, at Abbeville General Hospital following a brief illness.

He is survived by his father, Ben Mitchell of Jeanerette; his stepmother, Bessie Mitchell; nine brothers, Wilbert Sereal of Franklin, Joseph Mitchell and Mark Hebert, both of Jeanerette, Morris James, Terry and Thomas Moore, and Tommy Mitchell, all of New Iberia, Donald Ben Mitchell of Baldwin, and Darrell Sereal of Lafayette; four sisters, Francine Martin of Charenton, Lorriane and Tessia Mitchell, and Tiffany Jones, all of New Iberia; and one stepsister, Linda Batiste of Jeanerette.

Mr. Sereal was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ann Sereal Mitchell; and one sister, Wanda Faye Armstead Mitchell.

Pallbearers will be Ben and Michael Mitchell, Leonard Menard, Wilbert Sereal, David Ben Mitchell and William Colar.

Honorary pallbearers will be Allen James, Alvin and Wilbert Mitchell, Harry Willery and Moses Bernard.

Derrian O. Windmon

ABBEVILLE - Services for Derrian Orlando Windmon, 16, will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Fletcher Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Henry L. Maze officiating. Interment will be in Mount Triumph Baptist cemetery in Gros Isle.

Visitation will be held in the funeral home chapel from 8 a.m. Wednesday until the time of services.

A resident of Abbeville, Derrian died Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, at Abbeville General Hospital.

Derrian is survived by his special friend, Latoya Richard of Lafayette; his parents, Evirgia "Cora" Campbell of Abbeville, and James Windmon Jr. of Benton Harbor, Mich.; one brother, Demone L. Windmon of Crowley; two sisters, Tanisha A. and Scherazade (Genae) Windmon, both of Abbeville; his maternal grandparents, Velma Maze and Leonard Rutland Sr. of Abbeville; his paternal grandmother, Maude Windmon of Benton Harbor, Mich.; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, James Windmon Sr.; and his maternal grandfather, J.C. Campbell.

Pallbearers will be Lawrence and Jonathan Green, Fabian Mitchell, Jonathan Guidry, Dathian Landry and Colby Comeaux.

Honorary pallbearers will be Harry Rutland, Leonard Rutland Jr., Eddie Saddler Jr., Kevin August and Belton Maze.

Frieda B. Wilson

Loving wife and mother

WINCHESTER, Ky. - Memorial services for Mrs. Frieda B. Wilson, 77, the former Frieda Faye Begley, will begin at 5 p.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Wilson died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at Desert Samaritan Medical Center of Mesa, Ariz., following a lengthy illness.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Glenn A. Wilson; three sons, Glenn A. Wilson Jr. of New Iberia, Chris D. Wilson of Mesa, Ariz., and Steve D. Wilson of Jacksonville, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and her sister, Mrs. Virginia Legare of St. Johns Island, Vero Beach, Fla.

Laura H. David

Loving mother and grandmother

ABBEVILLE - Services for Mrs. Oscar David, 94, the former Laura Hebert, will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Therese Catholic Church with the Rev. Greg Simien officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary Magdalen cemetery.

Visitation will be until 10 p.m. today at Vincent Funeral Home, which will reopen Saturday from 8 a.m. until the time of services.

A resident of Abbeville, Mrs. David died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, at Abbeville General Hospital.

She is survived by one daughter, Joyce Romero, and her husband, Willis, of New Iberia; her grandsons, Michael Romero, and his wife, Susan, of Coteau, Larry Romero, and his wife, Melanie, of Coteau, Charles Romero, and his wife, Tina, of Coteau, Darren Romero, and his wife, Lory, of Carlisle, Iowa, and Ricky David of Abbeville; her granddaughter, Renell Fritsche of Abbeville; five great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons; and four step-great-grandsons.

Mrs. David was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Louisa Lege Hebert; her husband, Oscar David; and her son, Francis David.

Mrs. Donald "Pee Wee" Martin Sr.

Loving mother and grandmother

Services for Mrs. Donald "Pee Wee" Martin Sr., 77, the former Rena Savoy, will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at the David Funeral Home Chapel of New Iberia, with the Rev. Michael Guidry officiating. Interment will be in the Broussard Cemetary in Bayou Petit Anse.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-10 p.m. today, with a 6:30 p.m. rosary at the David Funeral Home of New Iberia, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Monday.

A native of New Iberia and a resident of Jeanerette, Mrs. Martin died at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, at Maison Teche Nursing Center in Jeanerette.

She was a housewife who enjoyed playing bouree, going to the casino and being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Lions Club Auxiliary and the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 1982. She was married to Donald "Pee Wee" Martin Sr. for 53 years.

She is survived by three daughters, Blynn Martin Broussard of New Iberia, Tara Martin Mestayer of New Iberia and Cynthia Martin Suit of New Iberia; two sisters, Betty Breaux of New Iberia and June Inzerella of New Iberia; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald "Pee Wee" Martin Sr.; father, Claybert Savoy; mother, Colasti Arceneaux Savoy; son, Donald "Donnie" Martin Jr.; sister Bee Russo; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers are Waylon Broussard, Wayne Broussard, William Broussard, Everett Chapman, John Richard and Joshua Suit.

The honorary pallbearer is Chris Louviere.

The David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Services are pending for Demarko Bernard, 4, who died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, in New Iberia.

Ella W. Nora

Loving mother and grandmother

Services for Ella Orelia Nora, 64, the former Ella Orelia Wesley, will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at Fletcher Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jules Anderson officiating. Interment will be in St. Matthew cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 a.m. until the time of services Thursday at the funeral home.

A resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Nora died at 2 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, at her residence following a sudden illness.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Nora Sr. of New Iberia; her companion, Norman Conley of New Iberia; three sons, James, Justin and Paul Nora Jr., all of New Iberia; four daughters, Nevetta and Shirley Nora, and Rose Mary Gilliam, all of New Iberia, and Esther Nora of Coteau; three brothers, Eddie Wesley of Franklin, and Thomas and Levy Wesley, both of Jeanerette; four sisters, Emma Lee Hawkins and Lovella Sereal, both of Jeanerette, Amy Wesley of Houston, and Mae Mae Wesley; her aunt, Esther Jackson of Jeanerette; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Nora was preceded in death by her parents, James and Leola Merrick Wesley; one brother, Sidney Wesley; and two sisters, Ella Mae Prejean and Fannie Hurst.

Pallbearers will be Mickey Antoine, James and Lawrence Tardy, Roy and Paul Nora Jr., and Joseph Gray.

Robert Pinches Jr.

Navy veteran

Services for Robert P. "Bob" Pinches Jr., 73, will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at David and Jacquemoud Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steven LeBlanc officiating. Interment will be in Our Lady of Prompt Succor cemetery in Coteau.

Visitation will be held until the time of services Saturday at David and Jacquemoud Funeral Home, which will remain open all night.

A native of New Britain, Conn., and a resident of New Iberia, Mr. Pinches died at 6 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000, at his residence.

Mr. Pinches was a retired boat captain with Edward's Transportation and held a U.S. Coast Guard tugboat license from 1972-1993.

He enlisted in the Navy as an apprentice seaman on July 3, 1944, in New Haven, Conn., where he was born just 18 years earlier. A tugboat captain charged with water transport, BMI First Craft Boatsman Pinches served on the SS Golden Fleece, USS President Hayes and USS Chowanoc at the Mare Island Naval Ship Yard in California; Astoria, Ore.; Naval Beach Group One, Japan; Annapolis U.S. Naval Station, Md.; Yokosuka, Japan; and New Iberia U.S. Naval Auxiliary Air Station, before leaving active duty. Mr. Pinches retired from the U.S. Navy on June 16, 1964, after serving in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Victory Medal, Korean Service Medal, Presidential Unit Citation and United Nations Ribbon.

Mr. Pinches enjoyed walking, taking care of his Labrador retriever, Bubba, reading, doing puzzles in the newspaper and listening to country music. His favorite song was "Ships That Don't Come In" by Joe Diffie. Mr. Pinches liked John Wayne and "NIPD Blue."

He is survived by one son, Raymond J. Pinches of New Iberia; two stepsons, Richard and Ronald J. Derouen, both of New Iberia; two stepdaughters, Carrie D. Moneaux of Coteau, and Jeanie D. Romero of New Iberia; 13 step-grandchildren; and 7 step-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Pinches was preceded in death by his wife, Eula Derouen Reaux Pinches; his parents, Robert Partridge Pinches Sr. and Bertha Francies Cole Pinches; and one stepson, Danny Derouen.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ronald Derouen, Jacob, Jerry and Jerad Moneaux, Allen Reaux, Curtis Romero Jr. and Curtis Romero III.

David and Jacquemoud Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.
