Services are pending for Edward L. Trahan, 85, who died at 8:45 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2000 at a local nursing home.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday at Evangeline Funeral Home of New Iberia, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Monday until services.

Services are pending for Mary Butler, 86, who died at 10:15 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, at Dauterive Hospital following a brief illness.

Mrs. Minos Joseph Derouen Sr.

Services for Mrs. Minos J. Derouen Sr., 83, the former Deloria "Lou" David, will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Reverends Michael Guidry, Mark Derise, Dan Picard and Mike Herpin officiating. Interment will be in the Holy Family Mausoleum in New Iberia.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. rosary at the David Funeral Home of New Iberia, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Monday.

A native of Lafayette Parish and a resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Derouen died at 1:39 a.m. Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, at Dauterive Hospital in New Iberia.

Mrs. Derouen, was deeply devoted to her family and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She loved gardening, flowers, cooking, dancing and sewing. She and her husband volunteered at St. Francis Diner. She was a member of the Legion of Mary and St. Anne Altar Society at our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. She was one of the first CCD Lay Teachers, having taught 2nd grade catachism at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church for 33 years. She was one of the first of two women lay ministers at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, where she ministered and distributed Holy Communion to the shut-ins and hospitals.

She is survived by her husband, Minos Joseph Derouen Sr. of New Iberia; three daughters, Hilda Derouen deVillasana of New Orleans, Myrtis Derouen Quinilty of Lake Charles, Mrs. George (Diane) Sikes of New Iberia; one son, Minos J. Derouen Jr. of New Iberia; one brother, Dennis J. David of New Iberia; four grandsons, Matthew Derouen of New Ibeia, Craig Quinilty of Glastonbury, CT, Dennis Quinilty of Ashburn, VA, and John Sikes of New Orleans; four granddaughters, Meagan Derouen and Ashley Sikes of New Iberia, Karen Quinilty of Lake Charles, and Juliet Swords of New Orleans; one son-in-law, Chris deVillasana of New Orleans; one daughter-in-law, Monique Waguespack of New Iberia; two sisters, Mable D. Boutte and Agnes D. Viator of New Iberia; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Alcee' David; her mother, Hilda Fabre David; two brothers, Raoul David and Wilton David; one granddaughter, Stephanie Marie Sikes, and two sisters, Elise Viator and Eloise Viator.

The David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Loving mother, grandmother

GRAND COTEAU - Services for Sylvia Dodge, 78, the former Sylvia Sibille, will begin at 3 p.m. today at St. Charles Catholic Church with the Rev. Andrus officiating. Entombment will be in the church mausoleum.

Visitation will be until the time of services today at Sibille Funeral Home.

A native of Sunset and a resident of Lafayette, Mrs. Dodge died at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, at Medical Center of the Southwest in Lafayette.

She is survived by three sons, Walter Edward Dodge, and his wife, Judy, of New Iberia, Harold A. Dodge Jr., and his wife, Janet, of Breaux Bridge, and Timothy E. Dodge, and his wife, Deana, of Sunset; six daughters, Maria A. Dodge of Lafayette, H. Annette Dodge of Carencro, Andrea D. Istre, and her husband, Kenny, of Humble, Texas, Angela D. Holstead, and her husband, Billy, of Humble, Texas, Effie Robin, and her husband, Tommie, of Sunset, and Lillian D. Taylor, and her husband, Sam, of Sunset; one sister, Mrs. A.C. "Margaret" Barry of Grand Coteau; two caregivers, Betty Sinegal and Mary Jones, both of Lafayette; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Dodge was preceded in death by her parents, Walter J. and Marie Louise Horaist Sibille; one brother, Horaist Sibille; two grandchildren; and her husband, Harold Dodge.

Pallbearers will be Ryan, Kevin, Cory, Rusty, Adam and Kody Dodge, Christopher Istre and Spencer Taylor.

Honorary pallbearers will be Walter, Aaron and Timothy Dodge, Tommie Robin, Kenny Istre, Billy Holstead, Sam Taylor and James Savage.

Lelia Domingue

Loving mother and grandmother

Services for Lelia Domingue, 73, will begin at 2 p.m. today at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Deacon Ulysse Boudreaux officiating. Interment will be in the Holy Family cemetery.

Visitation will be until the time of services today at David and Jacquemoud Funeral Home.

A native of Abbeville and a resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Domingue died at 9:34 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at Iberia Medical Center.

Mrs. Domingue was a housewife. She enjoyed fishing, shrimping, dancing, working in her garden, listening to Elvis, French music, eating Cajun food and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by three sons, Eldridge and Raymond Moreaux, both of New Iberia, and Richard Moreaux of Bull Island; four daughters, Barbara Moreaux Bourque and Dianne Savoy, both of New Iberia, Dianne Moreaux Camus of Pensacola, Fla., and Mary Moreaux Moreaux of Hardshell, Ky.; seven sisters, Fannie Bodin, Helen Duhon, and Lena, Verna and Willa Mae Romero, all of New Iberia, Edith Domingue of Erath, and Elaine Hulin of Rayne; 21 grandchildren; and 53 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Domingue was preceded in death by her parents, Neville and Edita Morvant Domingue; one daughter, Sheryl Moreaux; and four brothers, Dennis, James, Odila and Walter Domingue.

Pallbearers will be Ronald and Albert Bourque Jr., Chris Moreaux, Jerome Romero, Raymond Moreaux Jr. and Adam Viator.

Dackariah D. Brisco

Beloved son and brother

Memorial services for Dackariah Dreshawn Brisco, 2, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Fletcher Funeral Home Chapel.

A resident of Dickinson, Texas, Dackariah died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, from injuries sustained in a house fire in Dickinson, Texas.

He is survived by his parents, Andrea Brisco and Eunice Marie Sereal of Dickinson, Texas; his brother, Daquintin Peoples of Dickinson, Texas; his maternal grandmother, Barbara Sereal of New Iberia; and his paternal grandparents, Viola Brisco and Joseph Garrett of Dickinson, Texas.

Dackariah was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Albert Sereal.

Louise S. Olivier

Loving wife, devoted mother

LOREAUVILLE - Services for Louise "Lou" Olivier, 76, the former Louise Simon, will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with the Rev. John Choorackunnel officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-10 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at Fletcher Funeral Home Chapel in New Iberia, which will reopen Saturday from 7-9:30 a.m.

A resident of Loreauville, Mrs. Olivier died at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at Iberia Medical Center following a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Olivier was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church and the Ladies Altar Society.

She is survived by her husband, Roland Olivier of Loreauville; one daughter, Elise Olivier of Loreauville; four sisters, Irene Comeaux, Mary Knatt, Beatrice Mitchell and Cora Mae Jacob, all of Loreauville; two grandchildren, Roland Jeanlouis and Sherman Green; two great-grandchildren, Christopher James and Mariah Nicole Jeanlouis; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Olivier was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Simon Sr. and Azalie F. Simon; her daughter, Virgie Olivier; two brothers, Lawrence "Lamb" and Joe Simon Jr.; and six sisters, Francis Simon, Cecile S. Carrier, Annie Mae S. Bonhomme, Mary Louise "Jolly" S. Brown, Alzea "Tee-Tay" S. Mitchell and Cecile Comeaux.

Pallbearers will be Floyd Williams, Max Schnider, John Calvin Broussard, Percy Guillory, Albert Guidry and Murphy Olivier.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the immediate family.

Mrs. John L. Theriot

Loving mother and grandmother

CATAHOULA - Services for Mrs. John L. Theriot, 76, the former Sadia Latiolais, will begin at 2:00 p.m. Monday at St. Rita Catholic Church in Catahoula, with the Reverend Michael Champagne officiating. Interment will be in the St. Michaels cemetery in St. Martinville.

Visitation will be from 8:00 a.m. today till the time of service on Monday, with a 7:00 p.m. rosary today.

A native of St. Martin parish and resident of Catahoula, Mrs. Theriot died at 10:50 p.m. Friday, January 14, 2000 at her residence.

She is survived by four sons, Jimmy Theriot of Loreauville, Jerry Theriot and Wiley "T-Black" Theriot of St. Martinville, and Mark Theriot of New Iberia; one step-son, Dalbert Bernard of Carencro;three daughters, Mrs. Nancy Altemus of Belle Chasse, Mrs. Barbara Lasseigne of Catahoula, and Mrs. Mary Lane Latiolais of Breaux Bridge; one step-daughter, Mary Talley of Lafayette; two sisters, Mrs. Sylvia Guidry of St. Martinville and Mrs. Gertrude Faucheaux of Catahoula; thirteen grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Theriot; parents, Claybert and Lisie Blanchard Latiolais; four brothers, Antion Latiolais, Costa Latiolais, Mervyn Latiolais, and Joseph Latiolais; three sisters, Ellia Guidry, Solange Guidry, and Madia Courville; one grandson, Harvey Altemus Jr.

Ralph L. Leedom

Loving husband and father

DERIDDER - Services for Ralph L. "Yankee" Leedom, 73, will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Beauregard Vernon Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Don Hunt officiating. Interment will be in Dry Creek cemetery in Dry Creek.

Visitation will be until 10 p.m. today at the funeral home, which will reopen Wednesday from 8 a.m. until the time of services.

A native of Akron, Ohio, a former resident of St. Mary Parish for 18 years, and a resident of Dry Creek since 1975, Mr. Leedom died at 12:45 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, at Christus St. Patrick Hospital in Lake Charles.

Mr. Leedom was retired as a barge clerk in the oil industry. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart.

He is survived by his wife, Arietta Leedom of DeRidder; his son, Ralph Ray Leedom of Charenton; his daughter, Sandra Gaspard of Dry Creek; his brother, Jim Leedom of Akron, Ohio; his sister, Lucille Sharp of Arizona; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Viola R. Frederick

FRANKLIN - Services for Viola Frederick, 87, the former Viola Robicheaux, will begin at 3 p.m. today at the Church of the Assumption with the Rev. Michael Russo officiating. Interment will be in Franklin cemetery.

Visitation will be until 2:45 p.m. today with a 2 p.m. rosary at Ibert's Mortuary.

A native and resident of Franklin, Mrs. Frederick died at 12:18 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000, at her residence.

She is survived by three sons, Terrill and Donnie Frederick, both of Franklin, and Wayne Frederick of Lydia; six daughters, Betty Louviere, Sylvia DeMahy, Diane Stelly, Jeanette Pichoff and Carolyn Chatman, all of Franklin, and Viola Juneau of Morgan City; one sister, Maude Kern of Franklin; 43 grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Frederick was preceded in death by her husband, Didier Adam Frederick; her parents, Ulysse and Ednora Simoneaux Robicheaux; four sons, Jimmy, Tommy, Michael and Charles Frederick; two daughters, Barbara Choate and Hazel Frederick; two brothers, Paul and Gilbert Robicheaux; five sisters, Edse Christenson, Elodie Sauce, Louise Frederick, Sarah Achee and Leona Ferguson; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Marjorie M. Stackhouse

Devoted mother, grandmother

CADE - Services for Marjorie Melton Stackhouse, 65, the former Marjorie M. Berard, will begin at 7 p.m. today at St. Mark Baptist Church with the Rev. Edward Tauriac officiating. Interment will be Saturday at St. Matthew cemetery after a 10 a.m. dismissal from St. Mark Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 1-4 p.m. today at Journet and Bolden Funeral Home and from 5 p.m. until the time of services at St. Mark Baptist Church, which will reopen Saturday from 8 a.m. until dismissal services.

A native of Youngsville and a resident of New Iberia for 60 years, Mrs. Stackhouse died at 10:50 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, at Medical Center of Southwestern Louisiana following a brief illness.

Mrs. Stackhouse is survived by four sons, Ronnie and Connie James Milton, Norris Snow and Matthew J. Berard Sr., all of New Iberia; four daughters, Joeanna Mouton and Sandra Melton, both of New Iberia, Angela Locks of Baytown, Texas, and Tamara Broussard of Fort Worth, Texas; three brothers, Norbert Berard of New Iberia, Dalton B. Augustus of Houston, and Adam Berard of Sacramento, Calif.; two sisters, Mildred Lewis of New Iberia, and Alma Haynes of Beaumont, Texas; 26 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, James Melton and Bernie Stackhouse; her parents, Andrew and Ella Coleman; two daughters, Doris and Roxanna Melton; and two sons, Robert Hill and Clifton Snow Jr.

Pallbearers will be family members.

Louis J. Gary

Retired educator

ST. MARTINVILLE - Services for Louis "Tib" Gary, 89, will be held at 1 p.m. today at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church with the Rev. Lege officiating. Interment will be in St. Michael's cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. until the time of services at Pellerin Funeral Home.

A native and lifelong resident of St. Martinville, Mr. Gary died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, at his St. Martinville home.

Mr. Gary was born July 16, 1910, to the late Louis and Leona Gary.

He graduated from St. Martinville High School, received a degree in electrical engineering from Southwestern Louisiana Institute in 1932, and later earned teacher certification. Mr. Gary served in the Air Force during World War II with the weather squadron in Anchorage, Alaska.

Mr. Gary was employed by the St. Martin School Board and retired with 39 years experience as a science and math teacher. He also coached girls basketball in Cecilia.

He was principal of St. Martinville Elementary, assistant principal of Adam Carlson Junior High and St. Martinville High School. Mr. Gary was also a science teacher at St. Martinville High School.

After retiring from the school system, he worked as a foreman in the carpenter shop of J.B. Talley Construction.

He was a parishioner of St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church and a member of the church choir for many years. One of his proudest roles was his tenure as manager (and biggest fan) of his daughters' rock-and-roll band from 1966-71. The band was made up of his three daughters, a niece and a cousin.

Special music for the services will be pre-recorded and performed by his daughter, Yvonne Fouts, who will sing, "Amazing Grace," and by his granddaughter, Michelle Suzanne Brians, violinist, who will play, "Ave Maria." Organist will be Pat Melancon who will play "Panis Angelicus" and "On Eagles Wings."

He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Irene Gary; one son, Louis Gary and his wife, Sally, of Lafayette; three daughters, Louise Conrad of St. Martinville, and Yvonne Fouts and her husband, Randy, and Suzanne Brians and her husband, Robin, all of Tyler, Texas; six grandchildren, Cain Conrad of Lafayette, Ashley and Phillip Gary of Lafayette, Paul Cross of Tyler, Texas, and Michelle and Chris Brians of Denton, Texas; a step grandchild, Brandon Fouts of Tyler, Texas; four sisters, Monita Gary, Leona Gary and Tullie Ozenne, all of St. Martinville, and Bessie Wellman of Baton Rouge; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Leona Gary; one brother, Leopold "Kaiser" Gary; and four sisters, Blanche Bulliard, Evelyn "Kat" Barras, Chere Labbe and Mabel Gary.

Pallbearers are grandchildren, Cain Conrad, Chris and Michelle Brians, Paul Cross; and nephews, Bob and Peter Bulliard.

Honorary pallbearers are nephews Gary and Phil Barras, Harry and Ronnie Labbe, and Richard Wayne, David and Bart Bernard; great-nephew Randy Willis, cousin Judge E.L. Guidry; sons-in-law, Robin Brians and Randy Fouts; and step grandson, Brandon Fouts.

The family of "Tib" extend their appreciation and thanks to Dr. Stephen Persons, relatives, friends, healthcare providers and sitters, Betty, Betty, Barbara and Claudette, who helped support "Tib" and the family near the end with medical care, food and prayers.

A very special thanks to our sister Louise, "Nurse Nightingale," for her superb medical and social support to "Mimi" and "Tib" and to "Mimi," the "senior Nurse Nightingale," for her love and devotion in caring for our precious "Tib." We are forever grateful.

To Louis, the epitome of a loving and caring son who orchestrated "Tib's" numerous medical trips; to Yvonne, the musical soother of "Tib's" soul; and to Suzanne, "who provided emotional support and was "Tib's" comedic entertainer until the end.

"Tib" was a loving husband, father and grandfather who doted on his family. He will be remembered for his sweet and gentle spirit, his sacrificing nature and his strong Christian faith.
