Nina B. Dorsey

JEANERETTE - Services for Mrs. Robert Dorsey, 77, the former Nina "Nan" Breaux, will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with the Rev. Ed Degeyter officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park cemetery in New Iberia.

Visitation will be from 4-10 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at David Funeral Home, which will reopen Saturday from 8 a.m. until the time of services.

A native of New Iberia and a resident of Jeanerette, Mrs. Dorsey died at 4:24 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000, at Dauterive Hospital in New Iberia.

Mrs. Dorsey was a homemaker and a member of the Legion of Mary, Adora of the Blessed Sacrament and the Adult Bible Education Class.

She is survived by seven nieces, Mrs. Lonnie (Delores) Borel, Mrs. Wilfred (Lou) Migues and Mrs. John (Myrtle) Viator Sr., all of Jeanerette, Mrs. Buddy (Jeanette) Buford, Mrs. Dean (Helen) LeBlanc and Mrs. Michael (Nancy) Williams, all of New Iberia, and Mrs. Jerry (Leona) Little of Port Neches, Texas; and two nephews, Kevin and John Viator Jr., both of Jeanerette.

Mrs. Dorsey was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Dorsey; her parents, Theonis and Edolie Arceneaux Breaux; and two brothers, Adam and Junius Breaux.

Pallbearers will be Buddy Buford, Dean LeBlanc Sr., Chris and Wilfred Migues Sr., and Kevin and John Viator Sr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lonnie Borel, Jerry Little, John Viator Jr. and Michael Williams.

David Funeral Home of Jeanerette is in charge of arrangements.

Samuel Bass Jr.

LAFAYETTE - Memorial services for Samuel L. Bass Jr., 66, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at La Chapelle de Martin and Castille with the Rev. Paul Lee officiating.

Visitation will be Saturday from noon until the time of services at the funeral home.

A resident of Walnut Hill, Fla.and former resident of New Iberia for 40 years, Mr. Bass died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2000, at his residence.

Mr. Bass was born on Aug. 29, 1933, and was the son of the late Sam Bass Sr. and the former Jessie Garner. A graduate of Lake Charles High School, he attended McNeese College and received his degree in petroleum engineering from Georgia Tech in Atlanta.

He owned and operated domestic and international oilfield service companies in addition to his most noted company, Bass Oil, which was acclaimed for stabilizers and diamond bit tools. Mr. Bass devoted 50 years to the oil industry and retired in 1999 as chairman and CEO of ERHC.

He is survived by his wife, Shelia Meadows Bass of Walnut Hill, Fla.; his son, Alfred Cotten, and his wife, Pam, of Lafayette; his stepson, Wade Williams, and his wife, Angela, of Walnut Hill, Fla.; his stepdaughter, Wendy Williams Lohr of Walnut Hill, Fla.; four grandchildren, Christina and Erica Bass, Michael Cotten and Bailey Lohr; his step-grandchild, Tiffany Herrington; his sister, Loraine Bass of Beaumont, Texas; and his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Lee Samuel (Theresa) Bass.

Mr. Bass was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Lee Samuel Bass; and three brothers, George, Tommy and Davide Bass.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mr. Bass' name to the American Heart Association, 2500 Johnston St., Lafayette, La. 70503.

Myrtle B. Wilson

Services for Myrtle B. Wilson, 86, will be held at 5 p.m. today at Fletcher Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Adam Curley officiating.

Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A lifelong resident of New Iberia, Ms. Wilson died at 3:16 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000 at Iberia Medical Center following a lengthy illness.

Ms. Wilson is survived by her guardians, Robert and Deborah Thomas of New Iberia, as well as many friends at Azalea Village Nursing Center.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Sam Garrett; her mother, Rosie O'Brien; her stepfather, Oscar Tyler and one sister, Hazel Michael.

Fletcher Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Gilman "Gam" Gondron

LOREAUVILLE - Services for Gilman "Gam" Gondron, 87, will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Rev. Charles Thevis officiating. Entombment will be in the church mausoleum.

Visitation will be Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of services with an 11:30 a.m. rosary at David Funeral Home.

A native and resident of Loreauville, Mr. Gondron died at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette.

Mr. Gondron was the owner and proprietor of Gondron's Garage and Service Station in Loreauville for the past 62 years.

He is survived by his wife, Velma Granger Gondron of Loreauville; one son, Gerard Gondron of Loreauville; three daughters, Katherine G. Eldridge, Mrs. Loto (Gail G.) Louviere and Mrs. Richard (Tressie G.) Sonnier, all of Loreauville; one brother, Leed Gondron of Loreauville; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Gondron was preceded in death by his parents, Mozard and Emerite Ransonet Gondron; two brothers, Louto and Rhule Gondron; two sisters, Mable Gaubert and Rita Girouard; and one great-grandson, Kaisten Deslatte.

Pallbearers will be family members.

Allen Townsend Sr.

Loving husband, father

JEANERETTE - Services for Allen Townsend Sr., retired U.S. Navyman, 76, will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Rev. Fulton A. Raymond officiating. Interment will be in St. Peter United Methodist Church cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of services.

A native of Baytown, Texas, and a resident of Jeanerette for 54 years, Mr. Townsend died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, at the V.A. Medical Center in Alexandria following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Townsend was a retired U.S. Navyman and a member of the American Legion Harry Eugene Post 549. He was a loving husband, and a devoted father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Mercedes W. Townsend of Jeanerette; two sons, Thomas and Allen Townsend Jr., both of Jeanerette; one daughter, Linda C. Linton of Providence, R.I.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Mr. Townsend was preceded in death by his parents, Lynn and Leger Townsend; his son, David Lynn Townsend; and his sister, Alice Mae Townsend.

Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be members of the American Legion Harry Eugene Post 549.

Gilman "Gam" Gondron

LOREAUVILLE - Services for Gilman "Gam" Gondron, 87, will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Entombment will be in the church mausoleum.

A native and resident of Loreauville, Mr. Gondron died at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette.

Mabel R. Golden

Loving mother, grandmother

Services for Mrs. L.L. Golden Sr., 85, the former Mabel Ruppert Delcambre, will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's Catholic Church with the Rev. Jude Halphen officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary Magdalen cemetery in Abbeville.

Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. today with a 6 p.m. rosary at Evangeline Funeral Home, which will reopen Friday from 8 a.m. until the time of services.

A native of Kaplan and a resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Golden died peacefully at her home at 8:10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000.

Mrs. Golden was a member of the New Iberia Garden Club and the C.A.N. Bridge Club for many years, and also volunteered as a Pink Lady at Dauterive Hospital.

She is survived by her husband, L.L. Golden Sr. of New Iberia; her daughter, Teri Delcambre Brasher of Mandeville; two grandchildren, Emily Brasher James of Austin, Texas, and Jacob Brasher of Mandeville; her sister, Helen R. Hatfield of Lafayette; her niece, Vicki R. Betts of Kaplan; and her nephew, Larry Rupert of Abbeville.

Mrs. Golden was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony "Tony" and Florence Moncla Ruppert; her first husband, Howard Delcambre; and her brother, Raymond Rupert.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial donations be made to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St., Suite 200, Lafayette, La. 70503.

Rena B. Aucoin

Loving mother, grandmother

JEANERETTE - Services for Mrs. Andy Antoine Aucoin Sr., 90, the former Rena Bourque, will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with the Rev. Ed Degeyter officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-10 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at David Funeral Home, which will reopen Friday from 8 a.m. until the time of services.

A native of Iberia Parish and a resident of Jeanerette, Mrs. Aucoin died at 8:35 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at her residence.

She is survived by four sons, Curtis and Andy Aucoin Jr., both of Charenton, and Jerry and Jessie Aucoin, both of Jeanerette; one daughter, Rena A. Buteau of Jeanerette; two brothers, Pierre Bourque of Walker, and Barnabe Bourque Jr. of New Iberia; one sister, Jeanne Gilmore of Patoutville; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Aucoin was preceded in death by her husband, Andy Antoine Aucoin Sr.; her parents, Barnabe Bourque Sr. and Marie Rogre Bourque; one brother, Eugene Bourque; four sisters, Venedia Charpentier, Eunice Hebert, Mae Jolet and Maria Walker; one grandchild, Melissa Picard; and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Blake, Dolan, Edward, Jody and Kevin Aucoin, and Richard Picard Jr.

Eleanor S. Holden

ABBEVILLE - Services for Eleanor Holden, 85, the former Eleanor Saddler, will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Triumph Baptist Church with the Rev. Henry L. Maze officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church.

A resident of Abbeville, Mrs. Holden died at 7:40 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000, at Abbeville General Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Holden was a member of Mount Triumph Baptist Church.

She is survived by one brother, Eddie Saddler of Abbeville; two grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Mrs. Holden was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew Holden; her son, Willie Earl Wilson; her parents, Joseph Saddler Sr. and Laura Saddler; one brother, Joseph Saddler Jr.; and two sisters, Elnora S. Baker and Lillie Mae Saddler.

Pallbearers will be James, Isiah, Raphael and Joseph Saddler III, Allen Sibley and Herman Huntsberry.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the immediate family.

Lawrence "Baba" Lopez

Services for Lawrence "Baba" Lopez, 77, were held at 10 a.m. today at Evangeline Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Fabre officiating. Interment was in St. Marcellus cemetery.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Lopez died at 7:02 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, at his residence.

Mr. Lopez was a truck driver with Southern Pacific Transport Line for 40 years and also raised thoroughbred horses.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Bea Champagne of New Iberia; his brother, Ray P. Lopez of New Iberia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Lopez was preceded in death by his parents, Simonette and Irma David Lopez; and three brothers, Jimmy and Johnny Lopez, and Pierre "T-Beb" David.

Pallbearers were Raymond Delahoussaye, Gerald and Derral Lopez, Les and Harry Champagne, and Melvin Bouton.

Honorary pallbearers were Ray Lopez and Jun Delahoussaye.

Mary H. Bonin

JEANERETTE - Services for Mrs. Sidney "Junior" Bonin Jr., 63, the former Mary Hebert, were held at 10 a.m. today at David Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ed Degeyter officiating. Interment was in St. Peter's cemetery in New Iberia.

A native of Iberia Parish and a resident of Jeanerette, Mrs. Bonin died at 5:15 a.m. Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, at Maison Teche Nursing Center.

She is survived by her son, Walter Ray Reaux of New Iberia; and her brother, Elton Hebert of Jeanerette.

Mrs. Bonin was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney "Junior" Bonin Jr.; her parents, Charles and Stella Migues Hebert; and her brother, Walter Hebert.

Zebelon "Zeb" Gardner

Devoted husband, father

Services for Zebelon "Zeb" Gardner, 33, will begin at 7 p.m. today at St. Edward Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas James officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery Wednesday after a 10 a.m. dismissal service from Journet and Bolden Funeral Home Chapel.

Visitation will be from 4-6:30 p.m. today with a 6 p.m. rosary at the funeral home chapel, which will reopen Wednesday at 7:30 a.m.

A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mr. Gardner died at 10:39 a.m. Friday, Aug. 4, 2000, in Broussard following an automobile accident.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa Dugas Gardner of Cade; his mother, Victoria Ann Gardner of Jeanerette; two sons, Eric and Brandon Gardner, both of Cade; one daughter, Ashley Gardner of Cade; and one brother, Darrell Gardner of San Marcos, Texas.

Mr. Gardner was preceded in death by his father, Ivan Gardner; his daughter, Kayla Gardner; his paternal grandparents, Early and Yvonne Gardner; and his maternal grandfather, Henry Antoine.

Pallbearers will be members of the Knights of Peter Claver.

Journet and Bolden Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.
