Services are pending for Mrs. Lawrence J. Goula, 89, the former Cecile Verret, who died at 1:15 a.m. today, Aug. 14, 2000, at Cornerstone Village South Nursing Home in Lafayette.

Armanie T. Sparrow

Graveside services for Armanie Trenae Sparrow, infant, will begin at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Holy Family cemetery with the Rev. Edward Williams officiating.

The infant died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at Womens and Childrens Hospital in Lafayette.

She is survived by her father, Jermaine Sparrow of Jeanerette; her mother, Rachel Ann Olivier of New Iberia; two sisters, Breantye and Desiree Olivier of New Iberia; grandparent, Dallas Olivier of Port Arthur, Texas; step grandfather, Dalton Olivier of Grand Marais; grandparent, Mary Polk of Loreauville; grandparents, Donald and Irma Sparrow of Jeanerette; and a host of aunts, uncles and great-grandparents.

Helen D. Etie

Memorial services are pending for Mrs. Ray Joseph Etie, 74, the former Helen "Tibby" Duhon.

Mrs. Etie chose to donate her body to science for the advancement of medical research.

A native of Abbeville and resident of New Iberia, she died at 11:15 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, in a New Iberia nursing home.

She is survived by her husband, Ray Joseph Etie of New Iberia; three sons, Ronald "Ronny" Etie and his wife, Judy Landry Etie, and Byron Etie, all of New Iberia, and Scott Etie and his wife, Sheila Bourque Etie, of Athens, Tenn.; one daughter, Mrs. Barry (Carolyn) Bouillion of New Iberia; two sisters, Mrs. Ralph (Anna Lou) Bienvenu and Mrs. Preston (Mae) Guilbeau, both of Abbeville; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Laura Moore Duhon; two brothers and one sister.

Evangeline Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

BROUSSARD - Funeral services are pending for Edward Bernard, 111, who died at 6:45 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11, at his residence.

Luther Branham Sr.

Loving husband and father

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Services for Luther H. Branham Sr., were held at noon Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, at Simpson Family Chapel with the Rev. Donald Watson officiating. Interment was in Park Lawn Memorial Park.

A native of Hickman, Ky., and a resident of Los Angeles for 50 years, Mr. Branham died at 10:06 Monday, Aug. 28, 2000, at Kaiser Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Branham was a retired postal worker, a former Negro League and Minor League player, a member of the American Legion and a former warrant officer during World War II. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda C. Branham; his son, Luther H. Branham Jr. of New Iberia; his daughter, Betina B. Mills of New Iberia; two brothers, Francis Branham of Cleveland, Ohio, and John Branham Sr. of Charleston, W.Va.; his sister, Annie Bess Rice of South Bend, Ind.; three grandchildren, Prudence and Fashion Branham, and Quanita Mills; and one great-grandchild, Lawanda Myers.

Mr. Branham was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, his sister and his stepdaughter.

Pallbearers were Kevin Scott, Eric Watson, Tony Taylor, Alton Stitt, Stanley Blair and Eddie Thomas.

Honorary pallbearers were Negro League players, members of A.L. Post 653, John Branham Sr., John Branham Jr., Francis, Frank and Luther Branham Jr., and Walter Cleveland.

Simpson Family Mortuaries of Englewood, Calif., was in charge of arrangements.

Rosalie M. Hardy

ABBEVILLE - Services are pending for Rosalie Hardy, 49, the former Rosalie Montgomery, who died at 11:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, 2000, at her residence following a brief illness.

Warren Petry

Loving son and brother

ABBEVILLE - Services for Warren "Goat" Petry, 47, will begin at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Fletcher Funeral Home in Abbeville, with the Rev. Henry L. Maze officiating. Interment will be in Mount Triumph Baptist cemetery in Gross Isle.

Visitation will begin at 7 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the funeral home.

A resident of Abbeville, Mr. Petry died at 10:20 p.m. Monday at Abbeville General Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Petry is survived by his mother, Louise Briggs of Abbeville; two brothers, Zachary Briggs and Joseph Petry, both of Abbeville; six sisters, Patrina Matthews, Stephanie B. Mitchell, Sandra Harris and Catherine Harrison, all of Abbeville, and Joann Petry of Los Angeles, and Pearl Petry of Baltimore, and nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marion Petry Sr.; a brother, Marion Petry Jr.; two sisters, Kim Petry and Glenda Briggs; and his grandparents.

Pallbearers will be Shane Briggs, Phillip Harrison, George William Jr., Phillip Arnold, Ben Bernard and Earl Henderson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Petry and George Mitchell Sr.

Clovis J. Talley

Beloved tather and grandfather

ST. MARTINVILLE - Services for Clovis Joseph Talley, 85, will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, with the Rev. Austin Leger officiating. Interment will be in Methodist cemetery in St. Martinville.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. today until the time of services on Monday, with a 7 p.m. rosary service today, at Evangeline Funeral Home of St. Martinville.

A native of Catahoula and a resident of St. Martin Parish, Mr. Talley died at 6:35 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 2000, in a local hospital.

Mr. Talley was a commercial fisherman in St. Martin Parish and was a member of St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church.

He is survived by three sons, Gerald Talley of St. Martin Parish, David Talley of St. Martinville and Ted Talley of Parks; five daughters, Mary Joan Courville of Youngsville, Pat Broussard, Diane Dugan, and Vickie Jernigan, all of St. Martinville, and Jackie Broussard of Parks; three sisters, Mrs. Robert (Nin) Babineaux and Aline Malcolm of St. Martinville, and Annabelle Alba, of Lafayette; 29 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Talley was proceded in death by his wife, Laura Thibodeaux Talley; his parents, David and Laurence Bijou Talley; one son, Louis Talley; two grandchildren, Alvin Talley and Jeanine Broussard; and four brothers, Abel, Walter "Moon", Lawrence "Loyd", and Dan Talley.

Pallbearers will be John E. Broussard Jr., Shane Picard, Clint Dugan, Dennis Dugan, Todd Talley, and Gary Talley.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Broussard, Bobby Labiche, Jason Picard and Tony Broussard Jr.

Willis P. Hebert

Loving husband and father

Services for Willis Patrick Hebert, 53, were held at 10 a.m. today at David Funeral Home Downtown, Iberia Street, with Deacon George Sikes officiating. Interment was in Memorial Park cemetery.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Hebert died at 12:10 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000, at Iberia Medical Center.

Mr. Hebert was a self-employed carpenter and was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War era.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Broussard Hebert of New Iberia; his son, Tige A. Hebert of New Iberia; his daughter, Angelic M. Hebert of New Iberia; his brother, Willie Paul Hebert of New Iberia; his sister, Mrs. Lester (Shirley) Segura of New Iberia; four grandsons, Wilton Cody Delahoussaye, Matthew and Tony A. Hebert, and Shae Segura, all of New Iberia; and his granddaughter, Tiffany A. Hebert of New Iberia.

Mr. Hebert was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Norma Mouton Hebert.

Pallbearers were Adam Broussard, Junior Dore, Shane LeBlanc, Allen and Trent Peltier, and Travis Segura.

Honorary pallbearers were members of the Swampland Band.

Perry A. Dugas

Services are pending for Perry Adam Dugas, 71, who died at 11:25 a.m. Monday, Sept. 18, 2000, at a Lafayette hospital.

Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday at Evangeline Funeral Home, which will reopen Thursday from 8 a.m. until the time of services.

Georgia N. Ford

Devoted Christian, educator

JEANERETTE - Services for Georgia "Pina" Ford, 80, the former Georgia Nathan, will begin at 3 p.m. Thursday at First Jerusalem Baptist Church with the Rev. Arthur Lee Alexander officiating. Interment will be in St. Peter United Methodist Church cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday at First Jerusalem Baptist Church from 10 a.m. until the time of services.

A resident of Jeanerette, Mrs. Ford died at 12:05 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000, at Iberia Medical Center in New Iberia following a brief illness.

Mrs. Ford was a faithful member of First Jerusalem Baptist Church, where she served as church secretary for 33 years. She was a member of the homemission, the building committee and cemetery board, the Mary B. Amos Retired Teacher's Association and was a charter member of the Women's Auxiliary of Harry Eugene Post 549 American Legion. Mrs. Ford received many awards from the city of Jeanerette and was affiliated with the Union Sixth District Baptist Association Beautification Committee.

She was educated in Iberia Parish at Iberia Parish Training School and graduated as president of her class in 1940. She received her bachelor's degree at Leland College, and attended Grambling State University, where she received certification in elementary education. Mrs. Ford received her master's degree from Prairie View College in 1964 and taught in the public school system for 33 years. She served as vice president of Better Housing and was a board member of Iberia Parish Credit Union.

She is survived by one brother, Robert Nathan of Jeanerette; her foster children, Leroy Hensley Sr. and Leroy Hensley Jr., both of Jeanerette, and Dawn S. Batiste of Baton Rouge; six nephews, Burnell Broussard and Lloyd Nathan Jr., both of Jeanerette, Ronald and Ben Nathan Jr., both of New Iberia, Carol Broussard of San Francisco, and Wardell Nathan of Baldwin; and seven nieces, Gwendolyn N. Key and Bettye N. Cooper, both of Jeanerette, Jacqueline Nathan of New Iberia, Iris N. Burrell and Valenti N. Stevenson, both of Lake Charles, Gladys N. Kitchen of Tampa, Fla., and Antoinette N. Moore of Atlanta.

Mrs. Ford was preceded in death by her husband, Augustus Ford; her parents, Willie and Celestine Tyler Nathan; three brothers, Lloyd Nathan Sr., and Edward and Ben Nathan Sr.; four sisters, Famie N. Broussard, Celestine N. Martin, Gladys Martha N. Hensley and Lizzie N. Linton.

Pallbearers will be Elton Broussard, Kenneth Lee, Lionel Metz, Robert Marks, Larry Ward and Samuel Cooper Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Hammond Johnson, Rev. Ivory Ledet Sr., Brother Henry Colar, Brother Clifford Marks, Brother Benny Parker, Gene Francis, Ray Gibson, Joseph Lee, Clarence Coleman Jr. and Mrs. Ford's nephews.

Roy Viator Sr.

Loving father, grandfather

Services for Roy J. "Shorty" Viator Sr., 80, will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church with the Rev. Mike Arnaud officiating. Interment will be in St. Peter's cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 1982 of New Iberia.

Visitation will be from 1-10 p.m. today with a 6:30 p.m. rosary at David Funeral Home Downtown, Iberia Street, which will reopen Thursday from 8 a.m. until the time of services.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Viator died at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000, at IHS of Heritage North.

Mr. Viator was a firefighter with the New Iberia Fire Department. He was a member of the VFW Post 1982 and was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II.

He is survived by one son, Roy J. Viator Jr. of New Iberia; two daughters, Mrs. James (Mary) Bonin of New Iberia, and Elizabeth V. Harrington of Kaplan; one brother, Allen Viator of Broussard; one sister, Mrs. Ernest (Lou) Chaney of New Iberia; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Viator was preceded in death by his parents, Simon and Anite Reaux Viator.

Pallbearers will be Scott Bonin, Mark Harrington IV, and Derrick and Donovan Viator.

Honorary pallbearers will be Heather Burke, Dorothy Harrington, and Angie and Rosalyn Viator.

Charlie Cassimere Sr.

Loving father and brother

JEANERETTE - Services for Charlie Cassimere Sr., 73, will begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Fletcher Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Arthur Lee Alexander officiating. Interment will be in St. Peter United Methodist Church cemetery at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Visitation will be Friday from 4 p.m. until the time of services at the funeral home, which will reopen Saturday from 7:30 a.m. until a 10 a.m. dismissal.

A resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Cassimere died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, at his residence following a brief illness.

He is survived by three sons, Charlie Cassimere Jr. of Galveston, Texas, and Lawrence and Berwick Cassimere, both of Jeanerette; five daughters, Rena Brooks of Galveston, Texas, and Louise, Mercedes, Annette and Yolanda Cassimere, all of Jeanerette; two brothers, Joseph and Robert Cassimere, both of Port Arthur, Texas; three sisters, Rose Mary Mason of Galveston, Texas, and Helen Cassimere and Louvenia Polidore, both of Jeanerette; 39 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Cassimere was preceded in death by his parents, John and Alberta Carroll Cassimere; his wife, Rena J. Cassimere; his daughter, Jeanette Cassimere; three brothers, Leonard, Walter and L.J. Cassimere; and three sisters, Mildred, Martha and Lillie Cassimere.

Pallbearers will be Whitney Thompson, Melvin Brooks, Roy and Jay Cassimere, Charlie Welcome and Robert Hurst.

Honorary pallbearers will be Clarence, Lawrence, Berwick, Joseph, Robert and Charlie Cassimere Jr.
