ABBEVILLE - Services for Agnes Hebert, 78, will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Theresa Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Mausoleum in Erath.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. Sunday, with a 7 p.m. rosary service, at David Funeral Home of Abbeville, which will reopen at 8 a.m. until the time of services Monday.

A native of Erath and a resident of Abbeville, Ms. Hebert died at 11:55 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, at Abbeville General Hospital.

Carol Broussard Sr.

Loving husband and father

Services for Carol E. "Bruce" Broussard Sr., 72, will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church with the Rev. Mike Arnaud officiating. Entombment will be in the church mausoleum.

Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at David Funeral Home North, Trotter Street, which will reopen Wednesday from 8 a.m. until the time of services.

A native of Weeks Island and a resident of New Iberia, Mr. Broussard died at 9:55 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, 2000, at IHS of Heritage North.

Mr. Broussard was a school bus driver with the Iberia Parish School Board.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys Dugas Broussard of New Iberia; two sons, Dale Paul and Carol E. Broussard Jr., both of New Iberia; two brothers, Merlin Broussard of Baton Rouge, and Olan Broussard of New Iberia; two sisters, Lois Guidry of Houma, and Myra Polk of New Iberia; two grandsons, Andrew and Brennon Broussard, both of New Iberia; and two daughters-in-law, Angela C. and Dawn M. Broussard, both of New Iberia.

Mr. Broussard was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Una Mae Landry Broussard.

Pallbearers will be Dale Paul, Merlin, Olan and Carol E. Broussard Jr., Jim Polk and Bobby Vincent.

Honorary pallbearer will be Andrew Broussard.

David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Walter Gordy Jr.

Services for Walter Haynes "Wattee" Gordy Jr., 71, will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Evangeline Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ken Cooper and Rev. Diane Moore of the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany officiating.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home, which will reopen Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of services.

A native of Jefferson Island and a resident of New Iberia, Mr. Gordy died at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, at his residence.

Mr. Gordy was formerly the president of Gordy Salt Co., owner of Dauterive Marine and a salesman for Mid-South Boats and Himel Marine. He was on the vestry of the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, and was a member of the Kiwanis Club and the Jaycees.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Breaux Gordy of New Iberia; two sons, Walter Haynes Gordy III and Charles William Bachert III, both of New Iberia; one daughter, Leslie Bachert Drake of New Iberia; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Mr. Gordy was preceded in death by his parents, Walter H. Gordy Sr. and Claudia Elmira Pegues Gordy; and his daughter, Karen Bachert Reynolds.

Evangeline Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Jeanette A. Nicks

Services for Jeanette Althea Nicks, 64, will begin at 7 p.m. today at Evangeline Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Rousse officiating. Interment will be in Westlawn cemetery in Gretna at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Morgan City and a resident of New Iberia, Ms. Nicks died at 7 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2000, at a local nursing home.

Ms. Nicks was employed by Off Track Betting of New Iberia for five years, Poor Boys of Broussard and also served as a waitress at Little River Inn for five years. She was known by all as "Mama Jay."

She is survived by four sons, Matt Vodipija Jr. of Buras, Edwin Earl and Brian Anthony Myles, both of New Iberia, and Darrin Myles of New York, N.Y.; two daughters, Cathy Vodipija Bellot of Buras, and Debra Lynn Myles of New Iberia; two brothers, O.W. "Sonny" Nicks Jr. of New Iberia, and Clayton O'Neil Nicks of Holiday, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Ms. Nicks was preceded in death by her parents, O.W. Nicks Sr. and Althea Aucoin Nicks; her husband, Matt Vodipija Sr.; her maternal grandparents, Clay and Maggie Aucoin; and her paternal grandparents, Owen and Zollie Nicks.

Evangeline Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Odile B. Landry

BROUSSARD - Services are pending Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church for Mrs. Edmond Landry, 97, the former Odile Beaugh. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be until 9 p.m. today with a rosary pending at David Funeral Home, which will reopen Saturday from 8 a.m. until the time of services.

A native of Church Point and a resident of Opelousas, Mrs. Landry died at 11:35 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home in Opelousas.

Irleyahonce A. Walker

Graveside services for Irleyahonce Antrayna Walker, infant daughter of Charles Walker and Andria St. Julien, will be held at 3 p.m. today at the Holy Family cemetery.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Irleyahonce died at 1:45 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2000, at Dauterive Hospital.

David Funeral Home North, Trotter St., of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Charles Edward "Choppy" Cade Sr.

ST. MARTINVILLE - Services for Charles Edward "Choppy" Cade Sr., 82, will begin at 2 p.m. today at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville. Interment will be in All Saints Catholic cemetery in Loreauville.

Visitation was held from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville and resumes today at 7 a.m. and continues until the time of services.

A resident of St. Martinville, he died Friday, Aug. 25, 2000, at Lafayette General Medical Center.

Mr. Cade was a past member of the St. Martinville Lions Club, Woodmen of the World, St. Martinville Knights of Columbus, Parks American Legion Post 289 and St. Martinville Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He served in the Navy from 1944-1946 aboard the USS Vanderburgh APB 48 in the Asiatic and Pacific. He was retired from the St. Martin Parish Clerk of Court's office where he served as chief deputy clerk. He was known as "Pop-A-Doodle" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by two sons, Charles "Sonny" Cade Jr. of Henderson, Robert "Bobby" Cade and his wife Toni Hulin of St. Martinville, five daughters, Frances "Pee Wee" Delcambre and her husband Luther of St. Martinville, Eugenie "Genie" Willis of St. Martinville, Nanette Trail and her husband Tommy of Arnaudville, Carol Degeyter and her husband Roy "Botch" of Loreauville, and Roxanne Neuville and her husband Errol of Loreauville, one sister, Alice Odile Broussard of Abbeville, and his caregiver of five years, Duvie Batiste Lindon. He also is survived by 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Roxie Bernard Cade, his father, William Bancker Cade, his mother, Pauline Buteaud Cade, two brothers, William Harold Cade and William Anthony "Bill" Cade, and three sisters, Margaret Edith Trahan, Sarah Alice Menard and Mary Smedes Cade.

Pallbearers are Barry Degeyter, Billy Degeyter, Boudy Degeyter, Tye Trail, Kelly Neuville, Lyle Willis and Blaine Cade. Honorary pallbearers are Francis Blanchard, David Denaille, Blake Guidry and Ryan Landry.

Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.

Margaret M. Racheau

Loving wife, mother and friend

Services for Mrs. Johnny Racheau, 55, the former Margaret Matt will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, with the Rev. Richard Fabre officiating. Entombment will be in Beau Pre Mausoleum in Jeanerette.

Visitation will be at David Funeral Home North in New Iberia from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. today with a rosary service at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume at 8 a.m. Monday and continue until the time of services.

A native of Weeks Island and a resident Lydia, she died at 10:27 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, 2000, at University Medical Center in Lafayette. She was a cashier at Lydia Food Store.

Mrs. Racheau is survived by her husband, Johnny Racheau of Lydia, her mother, Maria Trahan Matt of Lydia, two daughters, Lillian B. Manuel and her husband Kenneth of Scott, and Pam B. Istre and her husband Rodney of Lydia, two sons, Donald Paul "T-Don" Broussard Jr. and his wife Sarah of New Iberia, and Jude Michael Broussard and his girlfriend Teena R. Johnson of Lydia, one stepson, Michael R. Touchet of New Iberia, one brother, Paul Howard Matt of New Iberia, five grandsons, Cagney Broussard and Sean Manuel, both of Scott, Joshua Postoe of Lydia, Cody and Logan Broussard, both of New Iberia, four step grandsons, Keith Viator and Ricky Touchet, both of New Iberia, Jordon Istre of Charenton, and Kenneth Ryan Latiolais of Duson, and one step granddaughter, Nicole Touchet of New Iberia. She also is survived by her sister-in-law, Catherine Matt of New Iberia.

She was preceded in death by her father, Theodore Matt, her brother, Louis Melvin Matt, and her first husband, Donald Paul Broussard Jr.

Pallbearers will be Jude Michael Broussard, Donald Paul Broussard Jr., Albert Matt, Howard Matt, Joshua Postoe and Michael Ryan Touchet. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Allday, Mark Genest, Jack Gilbert, Drake Howard, Rodney Istre, Scott Longon, Kenneth Manuel, Brandon Mendoza, Matt Migues, Randy Migues and William Racheau Jr.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to defray expenses.

The services are under the direction of David Funeral of New Iberia North.

Gertrude P. Thibodeaux

Loving mother, grandmother

Services for Gertrude "Mommie" Thibodeaux, 68, the former Gertrude Plombat, will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Edward Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Sebastian Myladiyil officiating. Entombment will be in Beau Pre Mausoleum at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Visitation will be from 4-6:45 p.m. Tuesday with a 6 p.m. rosary at Fletcher Funeral Home Chapel.

A resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Thibodeaux died at 3 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, at her residence following a lengthy illness.

She is survived by her parents, Clothilde Plombat Antoine of New Iberia, and Junius Louis of Sacramento, Calif.; four sons, Wesley "Shoedee" Hypolite III, and Theodore "Charlie" and Donald "Cop" Hypolite, all of New Iberia, and Clyde "Tang" Thibodeaux of Maryland; two daughters, Eunice Franklin and Patricia Hypolite Russell, both of New Iberia; two brothers, Anthony "A.J." Meyers and John D. "Big John" Antoine, both of New Iberia; four sisters, Margaret A. Garner, Mary Francis Mallery, Linda A. Green and Cressie P. Daniels, all of New Iberia; two godchildren, Vanessa Batiste and Angie Smith Turner; two devoted loved ones, Ervin Polite Jr. and Leanna Wiltz; 17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Thibodeaux was preceded in death by her husbands, Wesley Hypolite Jr. and Ernest Thibodeaux; her son, Harold "Boo" Hypolite; her daughter, Elouise Thibodeaux; her sister, Brenda Antoine; her great-grandson, Hasaan Hypolite Jr.; her brother-in-law, Thomas Garner; and her maternal grandparents, Theodore and Mary S. Plombat.

Pallbearers will be John D. and Thomas Antoine Jr., Andrew Mallery, Deyon and Hasaan Hypolite Sr., Harry Daniels, Carlos Martin and George Franklin Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Theodore and Wesley Hypolite III, Clyde Thibodeaux, Ervin Polite Jr., Journell Slaughter, Secarl Martin Sr., John Dewey and Kevin Antoine, Calvin Daniels, Waylan Williams, Clifford Lastrappe and Deyon Jacobs.

Nolan Bernard Sr.

Services for Nolan P. "Boy Blue" Bernard Sr., 77, will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Paul Neel officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today at Evangeline Funeral Home, which will reopen Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of services.

A native of St. Martinville and a resident of New Iberia, Mr. Bernard died at 9:58 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11, 2000, at his residence.

Mr. Bernard was a U.S. Army veteran and was a member of the 557th Army Band during World War II. Known to his friends as "Boy Blue," Mr. Bernard was a musician, from a musical family and raised a family of musicians. His greatest joy was playing for the Lord. He played trombone with the worship band at First Assembly of God Church.

Mr. Bernard was a loving father and husband and a retired fire captain who worked for the New Iberia Fire Department for 25 years. He leaves behind a family who was blessed to have had him and his legacy of music.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Verret Bernard of New Iberia; three sons, Kent J. Bernard Sr. and Reed A. Bernard, both of New Iberia, and Scott J. Bernard of Nashville; one daughter, Yvette Bernard Prudhomme of New Iberia; his "adopted" daughter, Renee' Burke of New Iberia; his brother, Larry Bernard of Medford, Ore.; his sister, Irene Bernard Gary of St. Martinville; and nine grandchildren.

Mr. Bernard was preceded in death by his son, Nolan Patrick Bernard Jr.; his daughter, Jazelle Marie Bernard; his parents, Wade and Lovenia Delaune Bernard; and two brothers, Allen and Wade Bernard.

Pallbearers will be Kent J. Bernard Sr., Kent J. Bernard Jr., Reed A., Scott J. and Wade P. Bernard, and Mitchell J. and Beano Prudhomme.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Brent Bernard, C.J. Hubbell Jr., Timmy Courville and "Big Will" Landry.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.

Milton Hebert

Loving husband and father

Services for Milton Hebert, 77, will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with the Rev. Steven Leblanc officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 1982.

Visitation will be until 9 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at David Funeral Home North, Trotter Street, which will reopen Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of services.

A native of Iota and a resident of New Iberia, Mr. Hebert died at 12:20 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, 2000, in New Iberia.

Mr. Hebert worked for Drilling Contractor's for more than 30 years and retired as a tool pusher with Grace Drilling after eight years. He was a past member of VFW Post 1982 and had been married to Mrs. Dorothy Hebert for 54 years.

He served in the U.S. Army at New Guinea, Southern Philippines and Lozon during World War II. He received the American Theater Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Metal with three Bronze Stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon and the World War II Victory Medal.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Luttrell Hebert of New Iberia; two sons, Kenneth Franklin Hebert of Coteau, and Raymond Charles Hebert of Six Mile, S.C.; his daughter, Debra Ann Hebert Mayeaux of Robert; his brother, James Hebert of Evangeline; five sisters, Lou Alice Lacombe and Cama Lee Leger, both of Iota, Lena Leger of Jefferson, Euna Rabalais of Pineville, and Hazel Roy of Crowley; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Mr. Hebert was preceded in death by his parents, Azonore and Lydia Miller Hebert; his son, Doyle Hebert; five brothers, Alvin, George, Hillary, Johnny and L.C. Hebert; and his sister, Mae Bergeron.

Pallbearers will be family members.

Sullie J. Barilleaux

Services for Sullie John Barilleaux, 72, will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with the Rev. Mark Derise officiating. Entombment will be in the Holy Family Mausoleum with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 1982.

Visitation will be until 10 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at Evangeline Funeral Home, which will reopen Tuesday from 8 a.m. until the time of services.

A native of Loreauville and a resident of New Iberia, Mr. Barilleaux died at 12:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, at a New Iberia hospital.

Mr. Barilleaux was a member of VFW Post 1982 in New Iberia and had retired from Loffland Brothers as a transportation superintendent after 32 years.

He is survived by his wife, Sybil Johnson Barilleaux of New Iberia; two daughters, Mrs. Kim (Darlene Barilleaux) Scott and Bonnie Barilleaux Dozier, both of Lafayette; three grandchildren, Blaire Michele and Robert Lynn Dozier Jr., and Talia Celeste Scott, all of Lafayette; one brother, Alvin Barilleaux of Lydia; two sisters, Yola Babin of Avery Island, and Yvonne Romero of New Iberia; and three grandchildren.

Mr. Barilleaux was preceded in death by his parents, Dosilva and Aurelie Lecamus Barilleaux; two brothers, Evans Bonin and Ulysses Barilleaux; and two sisters, Levie Bonin Bonin and Marie Barilleaux Guidry.

Pallbearers will be Alvin Barilleaux, Curtis Bonin, Kim Scott, Robert Dozier Jr., Michael Pears, Albert Johnson Jr. and Merrell Ashmore.
