ROBERT L. "BOBBY" WILEY
FERRIDAY, LA - Robert L. "Bobby" Wiley, age 48, of Ferriday, LA died Thursday, April 19, 2001 at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday.
Services will be 3:00 PM Sunday, April 22, 2001 at Dunbarton Baptist Church, Dunbarton, LA with Rev. Jack Colclasure and Rev. Larry Waggoner officiating. Interment will be in Cypress Grove cemetery in Dunbarton, LA under the direction of Comer Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1 PM until time of service Sunday at the church.
Mr. Wiley was born June 16, 1952 in Ferriday, LA to A. E. and Novis B. Wiley.
Mr. Wiley was a life long resident of Ferriday, where he was the Data Processing manager at Concordia Electric and a member of the First Baptist Church in Ferriday. He was a volunteer firefighter with Concordia Fire District No. 2. He was a Training Officer, teaching CPR and First Aid. Mr. Wiley was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Ferriday.
Survivors include his wife: Dorothy Cowan Wiley of Ferriday; five sons: Douglas Warshaw and his wife Angela of Vidalia, Stephen Warshaw and his wife Tina of Vidalia, Bobby Lynn Warshaw of West Monroe, David Warshaw and his wife Geneva of Monroe, and Monty Warshaw of West Monroe; parents: A. E. and Novis B. Wiley of Ferriday; brother: Bill Wiley and his wife Linda of West Monroe; sister: Connie Patterson and her husband Paul of Ferriday; seven grandchildren: Douglas Warshaw, Jr., Leah Warshaw, JoAnna Warshaw, Brandon Warshaw, all of Vidalia, Charlotte Warshaw and Elizabeth Warshaw, both of Natchez and Hailey Warshaw of Monroe; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Virgil Barnes, Darrell Cowan, Craig Cowan, Gerald Huffman, Will Cowan, Jason Cowan, Shawn Hollis and Joey Davis.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Concordia Fire District 2.

ALFRED PAUL CURTY, JR.
Alfred Paul (Al) Curty Jr., age 78, native of Jacksonville FL, was born August 6, 1922 and died Sunday, April 22, 2001 after a brief illness.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, April 25, 2001 at 10:00 AM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home on Lamy Lane. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 24, 2001, from 5:00 until 8:00 pm, and Wednesday from 9:00 am until service at the funeral home.
Mr. Curty devoted 44 years of dedicated service at the Ford Dealership (currently Hixson Autoplex) here in Monroe. He was a graduate of Riverside Military Academy, Gainesville Georgia. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Al has made Monroe his home since 1949.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Goza Curry, stepdaughter Anita Joy Audirsch Kennedy and her husband Michael Kennedy, granddaughters, Jordan Elizabeth Kennedy and Avery Frances Kennedy, and stepson Kevin Bruce Audirsch and Carolyn.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the ULM Athletic Scholarship Foundation (ATTN: Bill Burroughs Memorial Scholarship, ULM, Monroe LA).
May Al's courage and professional qualities serve as a reminder and legacy for all those who had the privilege to know him.

CHARLES SAMUEL "COOTER" DENNY, SR.
LAKE PROVIDENCE, LA - Charles Samuel "Cooter" Denny, Sr., age 70, was born January 4, 1931 in New Orleans, LA and died April 21, 2001 at West Carroll Memorial Hospital in Oak Grove, LA
Survivors include his wife: Sylvia R. Denny of Lake Providence, LA; son: Charles S. Denny, Jr. of Baton Rouge, LA; daughter-in-law: Catherine Denny of Baton Rouge, LA; son: S. Lee Denny of Monroe, LA; daughter-in-law: Anna Denny of Monroe, LA; sister-in-law: Peggy Denny of Lake Providence, LA; niece: Peggy Armstrong of Colorado Springs, CO; nephew: Jeff Armstrong of Colorado Springs, CO; nephew: Ben Denny, III of Marietta, OK; niece: Peg Denny of Marietta, OK; niece: Kathy Stockner of Jasper, AR; nephew: Fred Stockner of Jasper, AR; nephew: John Denny of Branson, MO; niece: Darla Denny of Branson, MO; cousin: David Ivey of Jena, LA; cousin: Jean Ivey of Jena, LA.
He was preceded in death by his father: Benjamin Franklin Denny; mother: Nora Thorps Denny; and brother, Ben F. Denny, Jr.
Pallbearers will be the Deacons of First Baptist Church.
Honorary pallbearers will be J. L. Fisher, David Ivey, Kincaide "Kent" Key, Byron "Bud" Martin, Billy Jack Murray and Johnny Mack Murray.
Mr. Denny was a lifetime resident of Lake Providence where he was a member and a deacon of the First Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Lake Providence High School and attended both Northwestern State and Northeast Louisiana State Colleges. He served East Carroll Parish as a law enforcement officer and Chief Deputy Sheriff for 12 years. He later retired from the banking industry. "Cooter" was a founder of the Lake Providence Cancer Support Group in February 1996 and served as leader of the monthly meetings. He also was active in the annual Cancer Survivors Day that is held in June each year. His faith in the Lord sustained him through some thirteen years of fighting lymphoma and leukemia. He was a blessing and inspiration to all who knew him, and he gave strength to those whose lives he touched. We should never be afraid to say "Cancer" to someone facing the disease. People need to know they are not alone, that their friends will support them in any way they can. Cooter had the support of many friends, and we extend our deepest gratitude to them all, including special thanks to Drs. Lattuada, Mouhaffel, and staff at St. Francis Hospital in Monroe; Dr. Hayek and staff at West Carroll Memorial Hospital in Oak Grove; and the Doctors and staffs at M D Anderson in Houston and the East Carroll Parish Hospital in Lake Providence. His journey to a better place was long and often hard, but no one who knew him ever heard him complain about it. He will be remembered with some sorrow but also much joy, fondness and love for as long as we live.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, April 23, 2001 at First Baptist Church in Lake Providence with Rev. Jim Kettleman, Rev. Wayne Young and Rev. Don Holloway officiating. Interment will be in Providence Memorial cemetery - Lake Providence, LA.

CLINT BALL
Services for Clint Ball, age 25, of West Monroe, LA will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at First Assembly of God, West Monroe. Officiating will be Rev. Otis Moore, assisted by other Ministers that impacted Clint's life. Interment will be in Twin Cities Memorial Gardens - West Monroe under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA.
Clint died Sunday, April 22, 2001 at his residence in West Monroe after a lengthy illness.
Clint was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in West Monroe for over 15 years. Clint's most effective ministries included drama and speaking. He was an active member of the Master's Commission of Atlanta for two years. As Clint battled Cystic Fibrosis, he was privileged to preach in Singapore, Israel, and many other places throughout the United States, and in doing so, he touched many lives for his Lord.
Survivors include his parents: Byron and Susie Ball of West Monroe; sisters: Olivia and Christine Ball; paternal grandmother: Lea Haggarty of Florida; paternal grandfather: Ernie Ball of MO; maternal grandparents: Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Rawls of Andrews, TX; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family and friends who loved Clint dearly.
Pallbearers will be selected from Clint's closest friends.
Visitation will be Monday, April 23, 2001 from 6 until 9 PM in the old auditorium and Tuesday, April 24, 2001 from 9:00 AM until service time in the main sanctuary.

HEROLD SMITH
Services for Herold Smith, age 75, of Farmerville, LA will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel - Farmerville, LA with Rev. Walter Helms and Rev. Phil Middleton officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Tabor cemetery - Farmerville, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Farmerville.
Herold Smith died Sunday, April 22, 2001 in Farmerville, LA following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Smith was a member of First Assembly of God Church of Farmerville, a lifelong resident of Union Parish, and a poultry farmer. He was preceded in death by sisters: Sallie Brantley, Leola Smith, one grandchild and two great grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife: Mary Smith of Farmerville, LA; sons and daughter-in-law: Lavelle Smith and Lynn of Chatham, LA, A. C. "Boots" Smith and Pattie of Spearsville, LA; son: Mike Smith of Farmerville; step sons: Benny Bailey and wife Rose of Springhill, LA, Paul Bailey of Farmerville, LA; step daughters: Geraldine Myers of Springhill, LA, June Green of Cotton Valley, LA, Janice Smith of Farmerville, LA; brothers: George Smith of Serepta, LA, Pleasie Smith Farmerville, LA; seventeen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be James Green, John Stansbury, Lee Hicks, Michael Myers, Michael Smith, Donnie Brantley.
Visitation will be Monday, April 23, 2001 from 5:00 until 8:30 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel.

MARY JOYCE COLVIN
Funeral services for Mary Joyce Colvin will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in Ruston with Brother Melton Prothro officiating. Burial will be at the Forest Lawn cemetery in Ruston. Miss Colvin was born on April 14, 1920 in Ruston and died April 22, 2001 in West Monroe. She is lovingly remembered for her vocal performances as a young lady. Miss Colvin lived in Monroe and was a former resident of Bossier City.
Joyce had a special love for children and invested forty years in the teaching profession. Many of those years were spent as a classroom teacher at Kerr Elementary in Bossier and then later as an elementary supervisor for the Bossier Parish School System.
Miss Colvin was preceded in death by her parents, Louis Daniel Colvin and Lucy Burgess Colvin and two sisters, Louise Colvin Covington and Nancy Calvin.
Survivors include sister Jane Colvin Bryan of Monroe; niece Susan Covington Jones and husband John of Monroe; nephews Louis Covington and wife Judy of Haughton, LA, Dan Covington and wife Kim of Orlando, FL, and Scott Bryan and wife Lesa of The Woodlands, TX. The pride and joy of her life were great nephews Casey and Jordan Covington, Taylor Jones, and Michael and Daniel Covington and niece Alexandra Bryan.
Pallbearers will be Louis Covington, Dan Covington, Casey Covington, Jordan Covington, Scott Bryan, Ben Thompson, and Taylor Jones.
Honorary pallbearers will be George Bryan, Sammy Colvin, Lomax Colvin, and John Jones.
Memorials may be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home, 7200 DeSiard Street, Monroe, LA 71203
Family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday, April 23, 2001 at the funeral home.

MR. GEORGE H. CARROLL, SR.
Services for Mr. George H. Carroll, Sr., age 78, of Gilbert, LA will be 3:00 PM Wednesday, April 25, 2001 in the Chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Winnsboro, LA with Dr. Gayle Dean and Rev. Frances Guy officiating. Interment will follow in Oakley cemetery near Gilbert, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Winnsboro.
Mr. Carroll died April 21, 2001 after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Carroll, a sister: Sis Carroll Baugh, and brothers: James Carroll, Jr. and Ralph Carroll.
Mr. Carroll, an honor student and receipent of the American Legion Award; graduated from Gilbert High School in 1940. He was a member of Wisner United Methodist Church, in which he was active teaching Sunday school and on the administrative board. He was a World War II Air Force Veteran, in which he was a gunnerman and received many citations and medals, including a Purple Heart. He was also a POW for 1½ years. After returning home he continued to serve his community by helping organize the South Franklin Dixie Youth Baseball Association, with Earl Carroll and Charie Stephens, where he served as a coach and district director. He was a 32 degree Royal Arch Mason and was a member of Dan Gilbert Lodge #405 in Gilbert which he served as secretary and Past Master. He was also a member of Knights Templer Commandery and was a Noble of Barak Shrine Temple and was a member of the Shrine Greeters Club in Monroe, and was also a member of the Macon Ridge Shrine Club.
Survivors include his wife: Cleo Carroll of Gilbert, LA; three children: Sue Carroll, George "Mopey" Carroll, Jr. and his wife Becky, Sissy Killingsworth and her husband Gary Lynn; three brothers: Bill, Cedric and Robert Carroll; five grandchildren: Jennifer Matthews and her husband Joey, George "Trey" Carroll, III, Carrie Sue Carroll, Gary Lynn Killingsworth, II, Mari-Kate Killingsworth.
Pallbearers will be nephews and grandsons; Bill Baugh, Jimmy Baugh, Cedric Carroll, Jr., Gary Killingsworth, II, Joey Matthews, Mickey Carroll, Glen Carroll, George Carroll, III and Brad Magee.
Honorary pallbearers will be Eldon Brown, C. L. McDonald, W. H. Roach, William Wade House, James C. Monroe.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice or any that help children.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday at Mulhearn Funeral Home - Winnsboro, LA.

CARL EVERETT
Carl Everett was born February 20, 1915 and died Saturday, April 28, 2001 after a lengthy illness at the VA Medical Center, Shreveport, LA.
Mr. Everett was a farmer and owned a local trucking business prior to World War II. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the European theater.
Mr. Everett is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Eunice Sullivan of Dayton, OH; Mrs. Bessie Rodgers of Tallulah, LA; Mrs. Marie Johnston of Tallulah, LA; and Mrs. Doris Keith of Plain Dealing, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mr. Everett was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. T. Everett, Sr. of Forrest, LA; one sister, Mrs. Era Burchfield; and three brothers, Elton Everett, R. T. Everett, and Edward Jones Everett.
Graveside services will be at 10 AM Tuesday, Forest Lawn cemetery, Forest, LA, under the direction of Cox Funeral Home, Oak Grove, LA.
