WINNSBORO, LA - Services for Jeremy Wade (Purly) James, age 26, of Winnsboro, LA will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 2, 2001 at New Zion Baptist Church - Winnsboro with Rev. George Bonner & Rev. Tommy Basco officiating. Burial will be in the Church cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Winnsboro, LA.
Jeremy went to be with the Lord, Saturday, April 28, 2001 at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas, following a lengthy illness.
Jeremy graduated from Winnsboro High School in 1993. He loved sports, basketball, golf & hockey.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Darby James, Sr.
Survivors include his parents: Darby and Jeanne James of Baton Rouge; sister and brother-in-law: Julie and Jamie Grant of Baton Rouge; maternal grandparents: Eugene (Doc) and Lois Hitt of Winnsboro, LA; paternal grandparents: Jo and Felix Henry of Harrison, AR; nephews: Jacob and James Darby (J. D.) Grant; a number of aunts, uncles and cousins; special friends: Martin Simon, Jeffery Thornton, Scott and Jennifer Parker, Deanna Montgomery, Shanna Morris, Katina Boone, Nichols and April Hitt, Jamie Hitt, Bradley Lovett and Jess Marcus.
Pallbearers are Martin Simon, Jeffery Thornton, Bradley Lovett, Nichols Hitt, Jess Marcus and Scott Parker.
Visitation will be at the church for 9:00 AM Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital - Memphis, TN.

MR. M. L. "JAKE" NEWTON
Services for Mr. M. L. "Jake" Newton, 74, of West Monroe, LA will be held Wednesday, May 2, 2001 at 10 AM, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA with Rev. Greg Clark and Rev. Bobby Brown officiating. Interment will be in Twin Cities Memorial Gardens, West Monroe, under the direction of Kilpatrick's in West Monroe, LA.
Mr. Newton died Sunday, April 29, 2001 at his residence.
Jake married Barbara Jean Jones on December 8, 1951. He was a loving husband and father. He was an ordained deacon and a member of Cedar Crest Baptist Church in West Monroe. Jake was a Chief Master Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force having served in World War II, Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War. After 22 years of service in the U. S. Air Force, he was maintenance supervisor at the GM Guide Plant for 12 years. He and Jean enjoyed camping and were members of the Caney Lake Good Sams Camping Club. Jake was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James a Newton; a brother, Charles A. Newton; and a sister, Masel Reems Graham, all of Winnsboro, LA.
Survivors are his wife: Jean Newton of West Monroe, LA; daughter: Brenda Shelton and husband, Gary of San Antonio, TX; son: David Newton and wife, Linda of Haughton, LA; granddaughters; Lisa Bowman; Angela Nixon; and Natalie Shelton, all of San Antonio, TX; grandsons: Jeremy Newton; James Newton; Jason Newton; and Jacob Newton, all of Haughton, LA; great-granddaughter: Taylor Bowman of San Antonio, TX; brother: Jack Newton of Metarie, LA; and sister: Barbara Warner of Conroe, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Walter Hill, Jr., James McNeil, Allen Smalling, Gary Shelton, Jeremy Newton, and James Newton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Clyde Gandy and W. H. Blanton, Jr.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 - 9 PM and Wednesday from 9 AM till time of service at Kilpatrick's in West Monroe.
Memorials may be made to: Cedar Crest Baptist Church, 3245 Arkansas Rd., West Monroe, LA 71291.

MRS. MARY NELL CASHION
ALTO, LA - Graveside services for Mrs. Mary Nell Cashion, age 91, of Alto, LA will be at 3 PM Wednesday, May 2, 2001 at the Alto Baptist Church cemetery, Alto, LA with Rev. J. W. Allen and Rev. Richard Brooks officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Rayville.
Mrs. Cashion passed away April 30, 2001 in Franklin Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
She was a member of Alto Baptist Church, Alto, LA. She was also a member of Mangham Eastern Star Chapter #152.
Survivors are one son: Charles Matthew Thomason of Longview, TX; one daughter: Billie Jean Lobrano of Mangham, LA; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers: Lewis Smith of Yuma, AZ; and James Smith of Auburn, WA; one sister: Ada Loyce Harris, Pismo Vista, CA; numerous nieces & nephews.

MRS. CAROLYN ANN KENNEDY
Services for Mrs. Carolyn Ann Kennedy, age 56, of Monroe, LA will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 1, 2001 at Roland Road Baptist Church with Brother John Yates and Brother Norman Bryant officiating. Burial will be in Mulhearn Memorial Park cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Road Monroe, LA.
Mrs. Kennedy died April 28, 2001 at North Monroe Medical Center following a brief illness.
She was a member of the Roland Road Baptist Church. She was also Secretary of the Faith Bible Institute at Roland Road Baptist Church. Mrs. Kennedy was preceded in death by her husband Lewis William "Bill" Kennedy, and her father Lamar McKeithen.
Survivors include her two daughters: Alise Wyant and her husband Stan of Monroe, LA and Jessica Kennedy and her fiance Daryl Wolgemuth of Monroe, LA; mother: Dot McKeithen Puckett of Grayson, LA; two brothers: John Ivy Patterson and John Wesley McKeithen; sister: Suebelle Murphy; two grandchildren: Alison and Amy Wyant.
Pallbearers will be James Murphy, Jeffery McKeithen, Todd Patterson, Don Burns, John Frank Robinson and Jerry Richardson.
Visitation will be from 5 PM until 8 PM Monday at Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Road.
Memorials may be made to the Roland Road Baptist Church.

MARION W. HORNE
Marion Lee Williams Horne, 74, of Spartanburg and Camden, died on April 30, 2001 in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
A native of Shreveport, LA, she was the daughter of the late Robert Willson and Marion Lee Russell Williams. She was a retired school teacher and a member of Grace Episcopal Church of Camden.
Survivors include her daughters: Jenny Lee Horne Thomas of Chattanooga, TN; Annie Dunreth Horne Collins of Roswell, GA; Margaret Marion Horne Darr of Spartanburg, SC; and Nancy Susan Horne Vetter of Spartanburg, SC; son: Joseph Allen Horne, III of Chattanooga, TN; twelve grandchildren.
Funeral services and burial will be held in Monroe, LA.
Memorials may be made to: Carolina Children's Home, 3201 Trenholm Road, Columbia, SC 29240 or to: Episcopal Children's Home, 234 Kings Mountain St., York, SC 29745.

MRS. GURTHA BOBO
Funeral services for Mrs. Gurtha Bobo, age 90, of West Monroe, LA will be 10:00 AM Thursday, May 3, 2001 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel West Monroe, LA with Rev. Rick Crandell officiating. Graveside service at 1:30 PM at Kilbourne cemetery, Kilbourne, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA.
Mrs. Bobo was born March 23, 1911 in Choctaw County, MS and died Monday, April 30, 2001 at St. Francis Medical Center, Monroe, LA after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Bobo and her husband A. E. Bobo resided for many years in Kilbourne, Louisiana where she taught several generations in the 4th grade of Kilbourne Elementary School. After moving to West Monroe Mrs. Bobo became a member of McClendon Baptist Church and Faithful Workers Sunday School Class. She was also a member of Morning Star Quilters. Mrs. Bobo worked for several years in the office of Quality Printing Company.
Survivors include her sons: Eddie Bobo and wife Kathy of Oklahoma City, OK, Bill Bobo and wife Martha of West Monroe, LA; sister: Tommie Hines of Calhoun, LA; five grandchildren: Chris Bobo and wife Kathy of Austin, TX, Mike Bobo of Oklahoma City, OK, Janet Baker and husband Leslie of Irving, TX, Becky Miller and husband Kevin of West Monroe, LA, Billy Bobo and wife Linda of Hattiesburg, MS; seven great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Larry Daugherty, Leslie Baker, Chris Bobo, Mike Bobo, Kevin Miller, Billy Bobo.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 PM until 9 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Landmark Nursing Center, Glenwood Medical Center, Glenwood Hospice, St. Francis Hospital and Angel Care of Louisiana for their kindness and attention during her illness. The staff and members of McClendon Baptist Church have been a special blessing.

OLA VERA THORN
Services for Mrs. Ola Vera Thorn, 86, of Monroe, will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 2, 2001, in Mulhearn Funeral Home Chapel, St. John Street, Monroe, with Dr. Bill Robertson officiating. Burial will be in Lynn cemetery, Archibald, LA.
Mrs. Thorn died Monday, April 30, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, salutatorian of her graduating class, and retired from J. C. Penny. She was the strength of her family having been the Baptist preacher's wife for over 50 years. Her husband, Rev. James Thorn, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her sons, Dr. Dale Thorn of Pearl, MS and Truett Thorn and his wife, Brenda, of Baton Rouge, LA.
Pallbearers will be Deacons of Calvary Baptist Church.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 11:00 AM until service time at Mulhearn Funeral Home, St. John Street, Monroe.
The family suggests that memorials be made to Calvary Baptist Church.

REV. GLYNN "FOBI" FINLEY
CROWVILLE, LA - Services for Rev. Glynn "Fobi" Finley, 46, of Crowville will be 2 PM Thursday at New Life Assembly Church with the Rev. Melvin Finley, Rev. Raymond Beard and T-Buck Lightsey officiating. Interment will follow at Providence Memorial Park cemetery under the direction of Community Memorial Funeral Home Winnsboro.
Rev. Finley died Monday, April 30, 2001 at LSU Medical Center Monroe after a sudden illness. He was a native and resident of Crowville, founder and pastor of New Life Assembly Church Winnsboro. Fobi was an avid hunter, a farmer, devoted father, grandfather and loving husband. His wife Debbie P. Finley died on January 5, 2001, also preceding him in death are his father Rev. R. J. "Buddy" Finley and his brother Hershel Finley.
Survivors include his daughter Heidi Harper and husband Keith of Crowville. Son Heath Finley of Crowville. Mother Sarah Finley of Crowville. Sister Joy Ann Wallace of Delhi. Brother Rev. Melvin FInley of Rayne. Grandchildren Kameron and Sarah Harper both of Crowville.
Also survived by host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Larry Cox, Ricky Caldwell, Ricky Lockridge, Don Englerth, Jeffery Hollis, Mike Kramer, Mike Walker and Rev. Jimmy Harper.
Visitation will be Wednesday after 5:30 pm until 9 pm at New Life Assembly Church.

MRS. MARY ROBERTA WORTHAN WILSON
FARMERVILLE, LA - Services for Mrs. Mary Roberta Worthan Wilson, age 97, of Farmerville, formerly of West Monroe will be 4 PM Monday, April 30, 2001 at Mulhearn Funeral Home Chapel West Monroe with Rev. Edsel Pippens officiating. Burial will be in Mulhearn Memorial Park cemetery.
Mrs. Wilson died April 28, 2001 at Chateau D'Arbonne Nursing Home.
A native of Woodruff, Co., Arkansas she was a retired registered nurse, a member of the First United Methodist Church of West Monroe and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Minnie and John Wortham, by her first husband, William Guy Bannisterher, second husband, LaVelle Wilson, her daughter, Mary Jane Duvio, stepdaughter, Billie Moore, her sisters, Mildred Janes, Margaret Costello, Laura Ober, her brothers, Jack Wortham and W. E. Chitty.
Survivors include her nieces: Angela Pippens, Joy Gunter, Sandy McCravy, Ginger Patterson, Cindy Creel, Donna Leigh, Jo Anne Jones, Pat Ramsey, Mary DeCelle and Brenda Hall; nephews: John Wortham and Richard Ober; five grandchildren, Kenny, Tommy and Danny Duvio, Hal Moore, Jr. and Martha Moore.
Pallbearers will be John Wortham, Jerry DeCelle, Ernie Hall, LaVelle (Split) Singleton, Dax DeCelle, Joshua Hall, Don Jones, Jason Ramsey.
Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Pearson, Roger Kimball, Clay Davidson and Bobby Avery.
Visitation will be from noon until service time at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, West Monroe. Our wish would be that everyone could be so blessed as to have an "Aunt Mary." She was a very special blessing to our lives.
