Stanley Gillard

EUNICE - Funeral services for Mr. Stanley Gillard, 86, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Quirk & Son Funeral Home Chapel here with burial in Mt. Calvary cemetery.

Mr. Gillard, a resident of Eunice and a former resident of Lake Charles where he resided most of his life, died Sunday, October 24, 1999, in Moosa Memorial Hospital in Eunice. He was an A-1 machinist retired from Bridge Stone - Fire Stone of Lake Charles.

Survivors include: a special friend, Dee Miller; three sons, Roger Gillard of Ringgold, Ga., Richell Gillard and Eddie Gillard, both of Eunice; a daughter, Judy Francois of Eunice; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be observed from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. Wednesday until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

Isola Lejeune

CHURCH POINT - Funeral services for Mrs. Isola Richard Lejeune, 73, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church here with burial in the church cemetery.

The Rev. Francis Bourgeois will conduct the services.

Mrs. Lejeune, a resident of Church Point, died at 2:55 a.m. Monday, October 25, 1999, in Acadia-St. Landry Hospital in Church Point.

Survivors include: her husband, Jules Lejeune of Church Point; two sons, Patrick Lejeune of Avery Island and James Lejeune of Trinadad, West Indies; a daughter, Janell Venable of Lafayette; a brother, Wilman Richard of Lake Charles; a sister, Dorothy Jeanise of Crowley; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Lejeune was preceded in death by a son, Dr. Bar Lejeune; her mother and father, Alite Matte Richard and Archangel Richard.

Visiting hours were observed from 6 to 10 p.m. Monday and will resume today at 8 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Monday by Deacon Cormier and the Rev. Bourgeois will recite a rosary at 7 p.m. today.

BASILE - Funeral services for Mrs. Josen Johnson Lejeune, 91, were held at 2 p.m. today in St. Augustine Catholic Church here with burial in the church mausoleum.

Mary Stelly

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary "Gussie" Doucet Stelly, 72, were held at 12:30 p.m. Sunday in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas with burial in Myrtle Grove cemetery.

Mrs. Stelly, a resident of Opelousas, died at 10:35 p.m. Friday, October 22, 1999, in Doctors' Hospital of Opelousas.

Survivors include: two sons, Terry Stelly and wife Jeannette of Opelousas and Lionel Stelly and wife Carolyn of Moss Bluff; one sister, Mrs. Lenora Leger of Port Barre; three brothers, J.B. Doucet and J.C. Doucet, both of Port Allen, and Walter Doucet of Shreveport; and five grandchildren.

Mrs. Stelly was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Stelly; four brothers, Leonce, Leo, Harry and Charles Stelly; one sister, Ruth Savoie; and her parents, A. Laurent and Lesiman LeJeune Doucet.

Visiting hours were observed from 2 p.m. Saturday until time of services on Sunday. A rosary was recited at 6:15 p.m.

Albert Luben
EUNICE - Funeral services for Mr. Albert Luben Sr., 66, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mathilda Catholic Church here with burial in St. Mathilda cemetery. The Fr. Joseph Tyson will conduct the services. Mr. Luben, a native of Eunice, died Saturday, March 3, 2000, in Eunice Community Hospital. Survivors include: his companion, Margaret Holman of Eunice; six daughters, Cheryl Hooker, Tracy Hooker, Amber Luben, all of Eunice, Dionne Hooker of Monrovia, Calif., Glenda Luben of Pacoima, Calif., and Julie Holman of Church Point; four sons, Mark Counts of Houston, Texas, Chris Luben of Eunice, Albert Luben Jr., of Pacoima, Calif., and Ricky Luben of Basile; his brother Anthony Luben of Fontana, Calif.; and 14 grandchildren. Visiting hours will be from 8 a.m. to time of services at Bishop Ceasar Hall here. Owens-Thomas Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Augusta Gardiner

Funeral services for Miss Augusta Rose Titta Gardiner, 95, were held at 1 p.m. Monday at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas with burial in St. Charles cemetery in Grand Coteau. The Rev. Angelo Cremaldi conducted the services. Miss Gardiner died at 6:05 p.m. Sunday, March 5, 2000, in Prompt Succor Nursing Home in Opelousas. Survivors include: her sister, Florence Gardiner of Opelousas; her brother, Francis Gardiner of Opelousas. Miss Gardiner was a graduate of the Academy of the Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau. She was registrar for Ursuline Academy and also an administrative assistant to father Malcolm Strassel. She was the daughter of the late Dr. Charles Arthur Gardiner and Marie Simon Gardiner, the sister of the late Judge Lessley Gardiner, C.A. Gardiner, and Marie Gardiner. She is also survived by three nieces, two nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews and one great-great-great-nephew. Memorial donations for Masses and the Poor may be made to Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

EUNICE - Funeral services for Mrs. Arnestaize Guillory, 87, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Ann's Catholic Church in Mallet with burial in St. Ann's cemetery. The Bishop Curtis Guillory will conduct the services. Mrs. Guillory died Saturday, March 3, in Eunice Community Medical Center. Survivors include: five daughters, Laura Guillory of Swords, Estella Ledet of Winnie, Texas, Stelzia Gobert of Mallet, Ella E. Fontenot of Redwood, Texas, Ella L. Richard of Swords, Texas; four sons, Harold Guillory of Devers, Texas, Wilton Guillory of Eunice, Linberth Guillory of Swords, Texas, Clyde Guillory of Opelousas; her half-brother Simeon Guillory of Church Point; her sister Leona Lewis of Houston, Texas; and 39 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5 - 9 p.m. on Thursday at St. Ann's Catholic Church. Owens-Thomas Funeral Home in Eunice is in charge of arrangements.

John Walter Leger

Funeral services for Mr. John Walter Leger, 40, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Queen of Angels Catholic Church with burial in Bellevue Memorial Park cemetery in Opelousas. Mr. Leger, of Opelousas and Baton Rouge, died Tuesday, March 7, 2000, at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge. Survivors include: three sons, John "Wally" Leger II of San Diego, Sage J. Leger and Sloan A. Leger, both of Baton Rouge; one daughter, Sadie E. Leger of Baton Rouge; one brother, Don C. Leger of Opelousas; one sister, Mrs. Frank Lynette Angelle of Opelousas; his father and mother, Curtis and Shirley Leger of Opelousas; his father- and mother-in-law, Donald and Elodie Marrero of Baton Rouge; and two godchildren, Logan B. Billeaudeau and Victoria Angelle. Mr. Leger was preceded in death by: his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John W. Wilson and Mr. and Mrs. Alphonse Leger. Mr. Leger was an oil field service technician and offshore electrician. Visitation will be from 1-10 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. Friday until time of services. A rosary will be cited at 7 p.m. Thursday. Sibille Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
