Wajda
Michael Anthony Wajda, a student at Eual J. Landry Middle School, died on Dec. 15, 2004 at St. James Youth Center. He was 16 years old
Mr. Wajda was born in New Orleans and lived in Hahnville for most of his life. He is survived by his father, Joseph Matis, mother Toni Zeller, stepfather Wilson J. Zeller Jr., stepmother Regina Rodrigue, brothers Richard R. Campbell Jr., Joseph Anthony Matis Jr., and Brian Richard, Ryan Keith, Christopher R. and Matthew Matis, sisters Kimberlynn Sue Matis, Victoria Francis Mattis, Caty Jo Martone and Erica Lynn Campbell, and grandparents Lena F. Matis, Linda Keller and Anthony C. Wajda.
A Mass was held at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Westwego on Dec. 22, followed by burial in the church cemetery.
Zeringue
Huey Joseph Zeringue, a lifelong resident of Ama, Passed away on Dec. 24, 2004 at the home of his daughter and son-in-law in Des Allemands. He was 76 years old.
He is survived by his children, Jan Marie Zeringue, Danny Mark Zeringue and companion Brenda Robert, Lisa Zeringue Fontenot and husband Kieth Fontenot, Lori Anne Zeringue and Valarie Ann Zeringue and companion Leslie Frank Walgamotte, grandchildren Mandi Michelle Bourgeois, Simon Paul Jeremiah James and Adam Michael Fontenot, Monica Avenew Zeringue, Amos Joseph and Bobbi Jo Cooke and Becki Jo Zeringue, Nicholas Scott Biades and Matthew Allen Cummings; those like sons, Sandy Petit, Kenny Blades and Ricky Brown, and siblings Beatrice Zeringue Brown and husband Virgil, Elsie Zeringie Petit and husband Archille Petit, Marc Zeringue and wife Diane, Larry Zeringue and sister-in-law Beverly P. Zeringue. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his beloved friend and wife of many years, Leola Justin Robert Zeringue; parents Aristide Joseph Zeringue and Nellie May Dugas Zeringue, siblings Cyril J. Zeringue and wife Velma and Thelma Zeringue and Aristide J. Zeringue Jr.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War from 1950 to 1952, and previously served as a Merchant Marine. He was a carpenter by trade until retirement, when he began farming.
A Funeral Mass will be held today at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Destrehan.
Andrews
Marian Lambert Andrews, a native of Warren, Ark. and resident of Baton Rouge, died on Jan. 14, 2005. She was 87 years old.
Mrs. Andrews was a loving and devoted life who touched the lives of many. She was a retired school teacher who taught in Warren and Luling. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Rupert “Andy” Andrews and numerous friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, John P. and Lidabelle Lambert. She enjoyed music and painting.
Religious Services were held on Jan. 15 at Community Bible Church. interment was held at Oakland Cemetery
in Warren, Ark. on Jan. 1. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 7777 Hennessy Boulevard, Baton Rouge, LA 70808.
Comardelle
Lester Joseph Comardelle, a native of Des Allemands and resident of Bayou Gauche, Passed away on Jan. 12, 2005. He was 84 years old.
He is survived by his sons, Clarence, Norman, Loveless and Luther Comardelle Sr., daughters Susie St. Claire and Niki Ferguson, sister Jeanne C. Dufrene, 17 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Dufrene Comardelle, parents Marc Alcide and Louise Dufrene Comardelle, brothers Roy, Fergust, Peter and Ludwig Comardelle, sisters Esther C. Dufrene, Martha C. Matherne and Selina C. Morehouse and one grandson.
Religious services will be held today at 1 p.m. at Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland, followed by burial at Sunset Cemetery
in Bayou Gauche.
Cullen
Anita Waguespack Cullen, a native of Vacherie and resident of Luling, Passed away on Jan. 2, 2005 at Ochsner Foundation Hospital. She was 64 years old.
She was the beloved wife of Curtis J. Cullen, Jr., mother of Maureen (David) Pizzolato, Allison (Charles) Cullen, Curt (Bobbi) Cullen, Dori (Scott) Porter and the late Kelley (Steve) Songy. Daughter of the late Otis Jean and Anita Marie Waguespack. Daughter-in-law of Curtis J. Sr. and the late Doris Cullen, sister of Aimee (Shug) Becnel, Jean Otis Waguespack, Lucille Gravois and Janet Bonvillain, grandmother of David Pizzolato Jr., Cullen Gordon, Curtis “C.J.” and Caitlyn Cullen, Haley Porter and Hannah Songy.
Mrs. Cullen was a retired school teacher for the St. Charles Parish Public School System and was instrumental in starting the Adult Education System of St. Charles Parish. She was a graduate of St. James High School. She earned a Master’s Degree in Education at USL. She was a member of the St. Anthony of Padua Altar Society and the church choir where she had a love for music. She was a volunteer for the Madere’s Children Advocacy Center and a HOST Mentor with the St. Charles Parish School System.

Denny
George Denny Jr., a laborer, died on Jan. 14, 2005 in a train accident in Des Allemands. He was 44.
Denny was born in New Orleans and lived in Des Allemands. He attended L.B. Landry High School. He is survived by his fiancé, Carolyn Bolden, sons George and Zachery Noil, daughters Georgia Noil, Tamara Bolden and Candis Banks, mother Catherine Denney Lyons, brother Danny Denney, sisters Malinda Lyons, Felice Denney, Paula Willford and Tammy Hammons, and two grandchildren.
A funeral was held on Jan. 21 at Worded Up Faith Ministry in Algiers.
Deroche
Geary Joseph Deroche, age 75, died on Jan. 17, 2005 at St. Charles Hospital.
He is preceded in death by three sisters, Garnet Simoneaux, Espazle Quinn and Pearl Deroche, and brother Leroy Deroche. He is survived by his wife, Donna Deroche of Luling, son Craig Deroche of Biloxi, Miss., daughter Dana M. Deroche of Mandeville, brothers Gerald and Daniel Deroche of Green Acres, sisters Ruby Corriell of Des Allemands, Maebelle Hogan of Bayou Gauche, Lois Forrest of Green Acres and Barbara Weinkauf of McCob, Miss., and grandson Mark Edward Deroche.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Jan. 21 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Destrehan, followed by entombment at St. Charles Mausoleum.
Gaupp
Wayne Gaupp, a local community activist and founder of the St. Charles Council for the Prevention of Child Abuse, Passed away of a long illness on Jan. 9, 2005. She was 73 years old.
Gaupp was a native of Oxford, Miss., and a resident of New Orleans and Destrehan for 55 years. She was instrumental in the founding of the Council for the Prevention of Child Abuse and helped secure the building which became the John Madere Advocacy Center.
Gaupp is survived by her husband, Dr. Myles K. Gaupp Sr., her son, Dr. Myles K. Gaupp Jr. and his wife Rita, her daughter Karen Gaupp-Wozniak and her husband John, and her daughter Stephanie G. Johnson and her husband Tony, her grandchildren Lindsay Johnson , Cala Wozniak, Kristina Wozniak, Jill Williams and Eric Williams, great-granddaughter Haley Williams and her sister, Ruby Camburn. She is preceded in death by her son, Gregory Duncan.
Funeral services were held on Jan. 12, followed by interment at the St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery
in Destrehan. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Madere Advocacy Center and the St. Charles Council for the Prevention of Child Abuse, P.O. Box 1321, Luling, LA, 70070.
Gordon-Stennett
Kendra Rae Gordon-Stennett, age 30, of Miamisburg Passed away Thursday, January 6, 2005 at Sycamore Hospital. She was born June 12, 1974 in New Orleans, LA to Sherman and Okathleen Gordon.
Kendra graduated from Hahnville High School in 1992. She served in the U.S. Navy for four years. She also attended Sinclair Community College, Dayton, Ohio.
A devout member of Greater Harvest Church, she served as an anointed and gifted praise and worship leader. She was also the coordinator of the Young Adult Fellowship. Always industrious, she was employed for five years by Paxar Corporation, Miamisburg, Ohio.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Paul Alexander Stennett, Sr. One son, Paul Alexander Stennett, Jr.. Parents Sherman and Okathleen Gordon. Two sisters, Ashanti and Tanya Davis. One brother, Eric James Gordon. Paternal grandmother, Ethel M. Borne. Sister-in-law, Eleanor Roxanna Stennett. Brother-in-laws, Brian and Bobby Stennett. Godparents, James and Erleen Valentine. A host of relatives and friends.
Visitation was Tuesday; January 11, 2005, at 11:00 am at Front Street Church of God, 111 Front Street, Hamilton, OH. Funeral service followed at noon. Pastor George Evans, officiating. Michel Joseph “Cado” Guedry Sr., age 75, died on Jan. 20, 2005. He is survived by his son, Michel J. Guedry Jr., daughters Debbie Roussel, Donna Guedry and Melanie Duvic, sons-in-law Kent Roussel and Kevin Duvic, daughter-in-law Liz Alexandra Guedry, brothers Roger Guedry and Sidney Guedry, sisters Josephaine Barient Edith Ancale and Carol Sutton, grandchildren Tiffany Coyle, Kent Roussel Jr., Blake Duvic, Destiny Duvic and Courtney Duvic and great-grandchildren Bryce Caver, Baleigh Caver and Brooke Coyle and companion Modesta Gagliano. He is preceded in death by his wife Floriska “Icky” Simoneaux Guedry. He was a member of the American Legion.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Jan. 24 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Destrehan, followed by entombment at the church mausoleum.
Hebert
Lester Joseph Hebert of Luling died on Jan. 7, 2005.
Mr. Hebert was the beloved husband of Sibyl LeCompte Hebert, father of Angela Duet, Kevin Hebert and Lisa Barrow, brother of Alvin Hebert Jr., son of the late Alvin Hebert Sr. and beulah Dufrene Hebert, grandfather of Matthew Duet, Katie Duet, Justin Hebert, Tyler Hebert and Haley Hebert.
A Funeral Mass was held on Jan. 10 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Luling, followed by interment at St. Charles Cemetery.
